I was so excited about how adorable this book was but the end was such a let down! The set up to learning a lesson was brilliant but it wasn’t executed properly.

Este libro me lo leía mi mamá cuando era muy chiquita, recién me acordé de su existencia. Lo recuerdo con mucho cariño

Cute. A la fois simple, et imaginatif. Poétique.

As an avid collector and devoted lover of giraffes, I'd never met a giraffe book I didn't like.
Until this one.
The only thing that kept me from giving it only one star was her watermelon earring. I thought that was cute. I haven't read the other Gilda books (who knows; maybe I would like them more?) so I don't know if there is a REASON for her to love melons, but then again, I also don't know why a panda, a tiger, and a giraffe would all be on the same continent, either.
I guess the main reason I didn't like this book was because I really didn't understand the ending. SPOILER ALERT: How does one spot on the chameleon make her realize that the rest of her spots were there all along... are the spots representative of kindness...? I just don't get it.
It seems to wrap up very quickly, with her having no spots on one page, then being fully spotted and throwing a random party on the next.
Though it's repetitive, as most childrens books are, the story just doesn't flow, to me.
Not a favorite.

I think this is the Gilda the giraffe book I've been looking for. After seeing this cover I remember a little more about the book and that it wasn't just about recovering the missing stripes.
Another of the authors books that are similiar to the others and are enjoyable for any young children.
