Charming and a little over-the-top - but honestly, this is Annabelle Winters we're talking about so OTT is expected! Mason is immediately taken with Milly and she's had a secret crush on him for a while. They instantly get each other, quirks and all. While some curve balls come their way, this story had a very sweet ending. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
Milly and Mason's story was quite sweet and over-the-top for sure! I really wanted to read their tale after they first appeared in the The Jock and the Genius and I wasn't disappointed. Annabelle Winters has a light and pleasant writing style that I truly enjoy!
Random thought: Mason was really lucky, socks with holes aren't that sexy... at least he didn't have smelly feet!
I fell in love with the writing immediately – Winters is an incredibly gifted writer with a huge repertoire. You can always count on her to write a great book.
I instantly loved the set up and the vibe for Mason.
I also liked Milly, and totally ‘got’ her social anxiety. When I was her age, my social anxiety was pretty high. And then I met my husband.
Like Milly, my social anxiety and general melted away.
I know that we’re not supposed to be ‘cured’ of anxiety by love. That would be very un-Oprah! But at the same time, love is what helps motivate most of us towards our best selves. Love of a lover can fill in the gaps and show you you’re worth loving.
Love can also quell fear and doubt. If someone helps you see, over and over again, that the world isn’t so scary, out of control and senseless, you’re more likely to dip your toe in the water of your own life and seize it.
And that’s what happens with Mason and Milly.
Mason gives Milly a chance to see herself the way he sees her and all of the sudden her introspection makes sense! She’s extra sensitive and Mason understands that with sensitivity comes a need to recharge. Later, her introverted love of reading starts to unlock mysteries about Mason’s stolen guitar and her intuition helps her figure out a mystery.
Over time, Milly gets to see that personality traits she saw as flaws, are actually things that her unique and interesting. She starts to like herself as she falls head over heels with Mason. In the end, she’s a stronger person who’s self-aware.
And not only that, she’s found her soulmate and they’re about to embark on a lifelong journey of growing together.
Would I recommend? Hells yeah. This HEA is on the YA, contemporary border of the romance genre. Milly is Curvy and Mason is a rockstar. No cheating, sweet sex scenes that are satisfyingly explicit.

i read this book as part of an arc program. This is the second book in the Curvy in College series. In this book, Milly is the roommate of Lara, who was featured in book 1, and is a recluse. Milly hates being outside or around a lot of people. When Lara convinces Milly to go to a concert given by Mason, another college student and musician, Milly agrees, but is nervous. Mily has a bit of a crush on Mason and when Lara learns this, she wants to set them up. Mason is playing on stage when Milly walks in and she takes hi breath away. Mason is instantly inspired and writes a song he calls Milly's song. Mason is determined to win Milly's heart and goes to visit her and sets out to make her his. Mason and Milly have a connection and when Milly realizes she is comfortable around Mason, she knows she can trust him. They spend some time together, but soon Mason gets in trouble and Milly has to decide if she can stand by him or leave him. I liked this series. This was another good book that had a bit of a twist. I like Mason and thought he really cared for Milly and she knew he would never hurt her. Milly had to face things from her past to find out why she was suffering from bad anxiety. I think Mason wanted to help Milly as much as she wanted to help him. Another good one.
This is becoming one enjoyable series that gives you a fresh look at young love. Milly is one shy and reserved college freshman who has a great roommate, Lana who helps her in many ways. Lana realizes that Milly does not have the need to leave their room so when she finds out Mason is playing his music she gets Milly to leave the room for it. Mason sees Milly and knows she is his muse and writes the music to a song as she enters the arena. Mason has wealthy parents who never had time for him so when he was young he found a hand crafted guitar that he uses to make some beautiful music. While Mason plays his music he gets Milly to come dance and her shyness and fears disappear for a short period. Once Milly realizes that she was dancing she becomes overwhelmed and runs back to her dorm. Mason can not believe that Milly has become so important to him this quickly and goes to her dorm and they start their journey to discovering who they are and will become with their love! 5 stars I received a free copy of the steamy novella Curvy in College: The Rockstar and the Recluse (Curvy in College Series Book 2) by Annabelle Winters and this review was given freely. Tender and sweet yet steamy and a bit twisted. This Weston College instant attraction not quite murder mystery features Lara's reclusive/Agoraphobic, mystery loving college roommate Milly and junior Logan's substance using musician and guitar major roommate Mason. Their electric and hypnotic first meeting inspires not only a song for Mason but leads to a series of unfortunate events ultimately ending in healing and a career path for Milly.

i am really enjoying this series. Milly is a shy girl that really doesn't like crowds. One night her roommate & best friend Lana, asks her to go to see their friend play his guitar and sing. Mason starts to tune his guitar when he sees his muse. He starts strumming the cords and can't stop playing. He gets Milly to come up even though she is shy. After he starts actually playing, she starts dancing and feeling freer then she has. After the concert that Mason played he went after his muse. He needed her like he needed air, that is the beginning of a life times of memories for Milly & Mason. Mason was able to find out why she was so shy and helped her actually find her calling in life.

She is his new muse and he is not letting her get away
The Rockstar and the Recluse is the second book in the Curvy in College series. It is the story of Milly and Mason. She is a college freshman who ends up being dragged out by her roommate Lana to go to watch Mason play. He sees her and when he is starting his set and before you know it he is playing just for her, as he knows she is his muse. This is an instant love story that is a fun and entertaining book. The story-line itself is a nice mix of drama, fun, flirty, young love, artistic license, romance and sexiness woven with great characters. I liked this book and found it to be a very enjoyable read. A nice addition to this series.
I received a copy of this book for my honest review. My opinions are all my own.
Milly and Mason story was a sweet romance. Mason is the resident rock star on campus. When he sees Milly for the first time he declares her his and his muse. Milly was already a fan girl of Mason before they even met Milly has issues being around people but once she gets around Mason, all anxiety is gone. They might be opposites but they do compliment each other. This was a slowburn romance with a little mystery drama thrown in. This drama brings Milly out of her shell and gives her purpose in life which also includes Mason. They have a lovely HEA...the epilogue was sweet!

I volunteered to read this ARC for an honest review. I enjoyed this quick story about Millie and Mason. Mason is a rocker and a college student. Millie is an ackward, anxiety ridden college student. Mason's roommate Logan is dating Millie's roommate Lara, and they want to set them up. So Lara invite Millie to one of Mason's shows. She's been a fan for a while but when she sees him at the show, it's next level. Millie is shyness is a detriment. But when faced with some weird events Millie comes into her own. Great HEA in the end.

I really enjoyed Curvy in College by Annabelle Winters. Milly and Mason had chemistry that was off the charts hot. Milly is not your typical college student. She is a recluse but meeting sexy rockstar Mason brings out her inner lioness. Mason sees Milly in the audience of his latest show and he believes she is his muse. He writes Milly's song as he sings to her from the stage. Milly finds herself for the first time coming out of her shell but then her inner lioness really comes out when Mason is threatened. I felt that just maybe Mason was also Milly's muse too. And there was a twist I did not see coming. Definitely recommend.
after reading bk 1 in this new series i was looking forward to reading milly's story. it started out strong and i was feeling the story, but then somewhere in the middle i got lost in it. even though it was just the start of milly coming out of her shell, it didn't feel like the story gelled right to me. but i carried on to the end. mason's character seemed to be very easy-going and artsy, but i felt he forgave milly too readily after the incident with his guitar. it was fast moving romance and insta-connection/love. i enjoyed the ended.
I liked Milly and Mason's story, they had a similar chemistry together like Logan and Lara. Mason's calming effect on Milly's anxiety, his insight into the reasons for it was simply lovely. Mason's personality is pretty mystical, I would say. He is such a cutie when he is all wrapped up in Milly. They really do click together, make each other better, stronger. I flew through this one, just like the first one. I loved them together and that epilogue, it was just perfect. Looking forward to see who stars in the next one!
Mason is the campus rock star. Milly has had a crush on him even before he saw her. Encouraged by her roommate, Lara, Milly attends a concert he is giving on campus. Seeing Milly, he is inspired and immediately claims her as his “muse”. Mason wants to win Milly's heart and make her his. She has anxieties being around people, yet being with Mason seems to cause her to relax. Somehow she knows she can trust him and isn’t afraid with him. Each of them seems to provide what the other needs to be complete. Will he make her his forever? Will he help her overcome her anxieties?
Milly has issues with large crowds. She spends a lot of time inside her dorm room but manages to get her work completed and gets good dreaded. It’s almost like a recluse or agoraphobic. She attends a concert for a singer who attends the college. Mason is the guitarist who seemed mesmerized with Milly’s carefree dancing. Mason see her for who she is, his muse. These two characters are great together and understand the slow instant attraction. Can she overcome her anxiety when Mason needs her most?

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. I am loving this Curvy in College series. Though each book is a stand-alone, it is very gratifying reading them in order. Mason and Milly are a hit. This story is so much fun and steamy. It is never a straight road to love with Ms. Winters. She always finds ways to put in little surprises in the storyline. This story had me laughing and cringing at points. This is definitely College love, Annabelle Winters style. Enjoy!
The author has brought back some of our friends and introduced us to some new ones. Milly has so much anxiety that she cannot leave her dorm room. When she is forced by her roommate to go see a friend, Mason, perform a small concert her life is going to change drastically. Mason sees her in the crowd and feels an instant connection.

I loved Millie’s and Mason’s story there is also a bit of a mystery added. Millie’s roommate believes that she is a recluse so to prove Lara wrong Millie goes with Lara and her boyfriend to watch Mason play his guitar. When Mason see’s Millie a song comes to him he calls it Millie’s song he knows that Millie is his muse but he also wants so much more and Mason was determined to make Millie his. Fantastic story I loved it and I highly recommend this book it’s definitely well worth the read.
Love the setting of this book, in college young with all the possible choices and avenues you can take. Like that both Milly and Mason realize they might really have something together as it feels so much stronger than anything ever before. The storyline is great with some mystery as to how and the why I won’t give away. The epilogue is great and puts it all into perspective from their lives together.

This is the second in the series and is a fantastic read. Milly is shy reserved and a bit agoraphobic, but with a roommate like Lana you don’t stay in for long. When she is out with Lana she meets musician Mason and the music plays a love tune for them both. Really is a well written story, the characters have amazing chemistry with a story that flows beautifully.

Milly didn’t like to be out in a crowd. Her best friend begged her to go to a concert with her and her date. Mason had his grandfather’s guitar and his music was an extension of him until the day he saw Milly and she became his museThe fun and exciting romance between Mason and Milly was filled with intrigue and drama and a bit of sleuthing thrown in with making love. Fun read.

Mason and Milly are total opposites but end out being perfect for each other. Milly is a college student who keeps to herself and Mason is the college rock star who Milly has a crush on. From the moment Mason sets his eyes on Milly he knows she's his muse and is determined to win her over. This is a sweet insta love story about two people who are so different from each other but they bring out the best in each other. I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book.
Curvy in College: The Rockstar and the Recluse is one of those book that you think you know what is going to happen then when you least expect it there is twist that take you off guard. I love reading how Mason understand how Milly is and help her come out from her shell.
This fast read is a great story and will definitely have you taking a double take on things.

The Rockstar and the Recluse is a typical insta-love romance that follows the familiar formula. The opposites-attract trope is played out here with a rockstar and a shy recluse. While the premise is promising, the execution falls a bit flat. The characters lack depth, and the plot is predictable. It's a quick and easy read, but don't expect to be emotionally invested in the story or its characters.
It's a decent time-killer, but there's nothing groundbreaking here.
This fun read offers everything you'd expect if you have ever enjoyed a Ms. Winters book. It is a quick read that is all about the instalove/instalust, intense emotions, heat, darkness and twists, all provided with a healthy dose of that over-the-top feeling. It is cute, sweet and steamy way to spend some much deserved me time. This is my freely posted, candid review.
This was an interesting read for me, it was a mix of sweet, innocence, chemistry, connections, drama and mystery. I felt a connection to the characters, I believed in their connection and the chemistry zapping between them, and I was intrigued by the storyline and where it would all go.

I don't really like the story I liked the other books in this series, but I hooked less with this one probably due to the mix of genres between romance and detective novels, but the detective part did not seem complete or precise to me. Besides, I didn't always understand the reactions of the characters. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book
Milly is a shy college student who doesn't really leave her dorm except for class. Mason is a musician who was ignored by his parents. Milly becomes Mason's muse. Mason pulls Milly out of her shell. This is a sweet romance where the characters have chemistry.
