From the narrow streets of Palermo to the dive bars of Chicago's Ukrainian Village, referee Milo Sant'Elia must maintain his composure on and off the pitch after a match-fixing attempt goes wrong.
Ubbi Disco is a reference librarian from the Chicago suburbs and is a fan of all genres, particularly 19th-century French and Italian Naturalist/Decadent fiction. Inspired by his travels to the football pitches of Italy and Ukraine, Ubbi's debut thriller, Law Five, is a genre-buster illustrating a world both familiar and unfamiliar.
I rarely leave reviews, but I really enjoyed reading this book!!😁My best friend recommended this book to me and I’m so glad she did! I’m not into any sport at all, whereas my friend is a football (soccer) fan, so I didn't think I’d really enjoy a novel set in the ‘sports world.’ But to my own surprise, I really enjoyed it and literally had to force myself to put it down. Very suspenseful and kept me on my toes. I found the characters easy to relate to and liked how it flowed really nicely! There’s definitely a lot more to this novel than just the plot line! Recommend 100%. Give it a read! 📚
Well worth the read!! This book grabbed my attention from the beginning and held on to the very end. Mr. Disco combined criminology and sociology into a “world both familiar and unfamiliar.” Law Five is a multi-narrative book where the author developed a unique voice for each character. The multiplicity of perspectives gives the novel a sense of mystery and a 360 view of the plot. A very pleasurable and captivating piece of work!! Definitely Recommend :)
I didn't know what to expect exactly. I do like books set in European locations, as well as in Chicago. I honestly don't know what the title had to do with the story. The plot was okay. Rather slow moving at times. The book wasn't bad, yet I am not sure I would recommend reading this.
