A lot had changed in ‘The Holy Sky’ School during the six weeks that Hadjar Darkhan was away. Everyone who was in the capital at the time became much stronger, thanks to the regular skirmishes along the Imperial road. By the Emperor’s decree, all the disciples of the Imperial martial arts schools were allowed to visit the infamous and highly coveted Wastelands. ‘The Holy Sky’s’ disciples were especially fortunate – they’d been given a two-week head start to find the map leading to Emperor Decater’s tomb, as well as the key that would allow them to enter his chambers. The School erupted into chaos as everyone wanted to fight for the dead Emperor’s Inheritance. After all, they wouldn’t just find artifacts and alchemical solutions in the tomb, but something far more important as well. Decater’s tomb also contained the secrets of all his friends, disciples, and followers. Whoever opened the door to the tomb, regardless of their path of cultivation or abilities, would become the strongest cultivator of their generation. But what would happen if the map and key fell into the wrong hands? Hadjar Darkhan had returned to the School, but there was no time to rest. A new adventure awaited him.
Just when I was starting to like Dora and Anise, they turn around and lie to Hadjar and Einen. Tsk, tsk, tsk!!! I love how Hadjar isn't OP and that there are many others in this story that are much stronger than him. It makes his growth all the more worth it.
First, my review: “This was a fun book. I am glad that I read it. You should try it too.”
Second, I am not a bot...at least I don’t think I am. Yes this is copy pasta (just learned that term, so fun!) simply because I feel like any book I read deserves acknowledgement but at the same time my feelings on reviews conflict with the normal review process.
I enjoyed this book, so my goal is to promote it and help the author. If you are a potential reader, just stop reading now and take the above as all you need to know. I am not going to share my reasoning, thoughts on the book, or any opinions that would influence your decision to read it. It is my opinion that Art needs to be experienced at an individual level. You are the only one that can determine what you like and don’t like. Don’t let others make that decision for you. You should definitely read the book and completely ignore all of the reviews. Or not if you don’t think this book is for you. That choice is all yours and the beauty of art appreciation. You are a much better judge of what you will like than anyone here.
If you are a member of the IAK Guild (thanks, Jason) or part of the review police, feel free to criticize me and challenge my philosophy on reviewing art. I think we all love a good debate. The forums are open and I welcome your comments. I was wrong in my previous request to get you to stop. Your blatant disregard for that request has led to some fun discussions. Growth is important for us all.
I think the thing that impresses me most is that this book series is so massive and yet it always keeps you immersed and engaged. Not at all do I ever look at the book wondering when it'll be over for the sake of it being boring, more often I look at it wondering when I'm going to have to wait again to get the rest of the juicy details. Over all I have to say I thoroughly enjoy this series and if anyone is curious about a series like this or even the genre in general this is a great series to start with.
I know there is only twenty books in this series but honestly I could read 100. The story changes so much from one book to the other that you can never guess what's going to happen next and I love that.
Been waiting for this for awhile, and after just finishing it am reminded of not only how good this story is, but sadly will have to wait an interminable amount of time to get to the next one. Does not disappoint, great story, looking forward to the next one.
It sucks so bad we have to wait again for the next one. I just read this one in about two days and it does not disappoint. This is seriously my favorite series of the last three or four years.
This one really moved the story along. We gain some insight on many of the questions we’ve been asking and sets up the next book to really propel the story along. But don’t worry there are INCREDIBLE fights in this just like the previous books. I really wish we didn’t have to wait till March for the next one
Klevanski continues to deliver high quality action as we follow Hadjar in his continued journeys through the empire. The plot got quite dense in the middle and required me to step away and digest the various actions and motivations by our heroes but ultimately ended with a bang! Keep reading - you won’t regret it.
I wish I could speak and read Russian. If I could I would already be waiting for the release of book 18 part two to come out. I’m hoping that the story never ends... but if it does I hope they create a complete version I can buy or download to read over and over.
Would like to see more stats for the LitRPG element and see how our hero stacks against everyone else. We got a tease of it. This series makes me wish I could read Russian as I hate the wait for the next novel. Outstanding series and each book is better than the last.
Absolutely love this series it’s so different from the other cultivation novels the story is actually a story worth reading and isn’t the same copy and paste kind of thing you know what I mean if you’ve read other cultivation novels
Epic is all I can really say! To keep a series going, and you to keep guessing what's going to happen, and still be wrong is amazing! This book and series is definitely worth reading
Another awesome addition to Hadjar's story. I love reading this story. Well paced and enjoyable to quickly read. Highly recommend, can't wait for the next one!
Twists and turns galore, secret plans, powerful enemies, "friends", monsters and new locales. Don't start the book at night or you won't get any sleep! Need more please, can't wait for the next one
I am amazed how well the author has planned the story arc of the MC, his growth as a warrior and relationships. Could not read the book fast enough and then reread. Now the waiting for the next book is a test of patience.
This is just a great series that keeps you entertained with each new obstacle. Very rarely do you get 9 books into a series and feel like there wasn’t a dud somewhere along the way. But this series just delivers.
Little can be said that already hasn’t been said about this series. I could not put this book down and I enjoyed every moment of reading it. I was at the edge of my seat the entire time and I can’t wait to read the next book
Really good addition to the series. The conflicts were cool and there was still progression. We finally got a little more of the LitRPG elements that I really enjoy. I am definitely excited for the next book.
The series is one of my favorites. Some of the fight scenes and introspection are a little long, but the character and world building more than make up for it. I’m always sad when I’ve finished the most recent book.
Enjoying the series . It is well translated. Clever author. He has written a good series and chosen a good translator and narrator. Not all authors are so wise. Look forward to book ten and next series.
Look forward to New series. Will try the side books too. Happy to have found author particularly with nine books of first series available and eight in audio.
