Bar owner Jake Johnson loves women—until he kicks them out of his bed. Hardened by devastating loss, the only thing he lets warm his heart these days is the smooth burn of a good whiskey.
Tamryn Baker wants Jake as much as she wants to run her own business; too bad he can’t see past the pain-in-the-ass little girl she was, or the promise he made to her older brother to look after her.
Jake’s a whiskey burn on a cold winter’s night, but Tamryn wants more than heat between the sheets. Tamryn’s always felt like home, but Jake knows crossing the line with her wouldn’t be safe, regardless of the explosive chemistry building between them.
If they give in, their broken hearts will either fit together perfectly—or their pasts will shred them both.
Steamy Romance Author Love, Lust, and a little Chaos
Happily ever after... with a little bit of chaos and a lot of heat between the sheets!
Jessalyn Jameson writes sexy, troubled guys and the strong women who love them. The road to happily ever after may not be easy, but it is always worth the wild ride.
When she’s not writing, you can usually find her with a drink in hand and a far-off look in her eyes, always dreaming up her next chaotic couple. Jessalyn resides in Sunny Southern California with her husband, their teen daughter, and a sweet -but-wild rescue dog.
This story is so relatable right from the beginning, we have Jake who is watching over his best friends little sister TB who happens to also be his roommate. They both work at the bar Jake owns along with their friend Reed, the close connection they are share with one another is so heartwarming because you can feel the love and protectiveness but at the same time you know it's more then that. I don't know who I love more Jake or Reed, they're both such amazing men in their own ways and have so much love to give. Charlie I'm on the fence about, there are times he just gets me mad with the things he does even though he means we'll be his actions. This story will have you going back and forth with the "are they or aren't they" vibes and you can't help but keep reading and finding out what happens with everyone. You will laugh, gasp and be swooning over their story. I loved it right up to the very last lines. This is my unbiased and voluntary review.
3.5 Stars Tamryn Baker has been crushing on Jake Johnson since she can remember but he only sees her as his friends little sister. Jack promised to keep on eye on Tamryn but it is not until lately that he is beginning to see her as something else. Can two friends become something more and what does it take for them to take the next step?
I liked this book had a very western feel to it. Had a few surprises I was not expecting in this story. I would check out more in this series.
This is the second book in the series. I loved the first. This one I had a love hate relationship with. I loved the writing, the first book tie in, the character development. But hate, hate, hate some of the characters actions. I was screaming at them! Screaming at fictional characters that was so dense at times I was ready to throw my hands up and think maybe just maybe they wasn't going to get their heads straight. When the time come to do or go home, I am so thrilled with the results. And is there a bow chicka wow wow moment with Luce and Reed? Or maybe I was just wishing it. Needless to say I think Gen was a waste of ink, so not thrilled with her character at all. To say that Ms. Jameson knows hers stuff when developing creative and thought out characters is a understatement. She builds this world that will pull you into their everyday lives, their emotions no matter if for good or bad. Can't wait to see what is coming next. I did want a little more background on the dead brother, Reed, and Randy.
I would like you to know before I even finished the book I wrote this line in my head. I wish I could drive to the nearest mountain, climb it and yell at the top of it that I loved this book. So many emotions, so many great characters and an amazing story.
You have Jake a bar owner who happens to be the player type, or is he? Then you have Tamryn his best friend’s little sister, whom he promised to look after. What can go wrong?
I loved the way the words ran together so effortlessly. I read this book in a couple hours, couldn’t put it down. Even walking down the street to pick up my daughter from school, I had this book in my face.
This book had soul to it, it had depth and everything you could want in a romance novel. It’s hot and steamy so be prepared for that. Not for young readers.
If you like steamy romance novels with semi-complicated love stories and maybe a happy ending. Then please get this book. You will enjoy it.
If you are looking for a fairy tale romance this ain't it. Jake runs a bar, takes care of Tamryn his death friend's little sister and brings home sexual partners. This wouldn't be so bad except Tamryn has been in love with Jake for years and since she lives with him she gets a front row seat for Jake's sexual conquests. Her reality is watching someone she loves be with other women. When Jake catches Tamryn with someone else he finally opens his eyes to the love he has in front of him. I did not think highly of Jake's character up to this point and even though he did remain a jerk for most of the book he was faithful after the first time they had sex. Be sure to read their up and down adventure to see if his wake call will be too little too late or they can find their HEA.
I voluntarily reviewed an advance readers copy provided thru Xpresso Book Tours.
After reading the first book in this series I had no idea what I was going to find in this one. Boy was I surprised. This book was so much better that then first one. I loved the two main characters Jake and Tamryn. If either of them had opened their mouths and said how they really felt it would have save them both so much heartache, although they might not got their HEA if they had. All of the characters in this storyline are believable and relatable. I look forward to the next book in this series. I recommend this book.
What I love about this series is the authentic way the characters f*ck it up before getting it right--just like in real life. Her characters feel more like real people instead of fictional ones. This felt like an actual place I wanted to visit. I wanted to sit at the bar and hear them play music, I wanted to stroll around their town..and say hi to all of Jessalyn's boys.
The incredible heat Jessalyn brings is sure to please any romance fan, and her gorgeous writing will keep you coming back for more. HIGHLY recommend! <3

This book had my emotions going. From anger to happiness and everything in between. From the blurb we know that Tamryn has been in love with Jake, her deceased brother's best friend. Jake was sooooo dense in this book and he was so frustrating. Just when you think that he would wake up and realise Tamryn has feelings for him, he turns around and does something extremely stupid.
Tamryn has always been in love with Jake and is tired of seeing him parading different women in front of her and sick of him treating her like a child because of a promise made to her brother.
Both characters made some unpleasant decisions that impacted their blooming relationship but it came together so perfectly in the end is was just amazing. This is a great romance story with sexual tension, heartbreak and of course a HEA. Amazing work from the author!! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Fantastic! Love the fact this book was based on Jake Johnson a character who had a brief yet very hot part in the book Chlorine & Chaos. Jake really did deserve his own book. Jake and Tamryn aka TB practically grew up together, but is the tragic death of TB's brother and Jake's best friend keeping them together of ripping them apart? How's can trying to do the right thing turn out so wrong? Well if Jake would get his head out of his a$$ long enough and stop over thinking everything they might just find their happily ever after. Come on Jake I have faith in you!!! Once again Jessalyn has filled her book with great characters, Reed jakes other best friend, Luce TB's best friend, Charlie TB's ex (ya he's not gonna cause any problems lol) and of course Gennie Reed's ex and now jakes wham bam thank you ma'am (trouble all around). Loved this book, can't wait for more!!! Oh and what was up with Reed and Luce? I think somethings going on there... Thanks again Jessalyn amazing!!!
Jake screwed other people pretty much 3/4 of the book. I now remember why I held off so long on reading it. I wasn't sure if I was ever going to actually read this or not. Don't like my heroes being with other women and throwing it in my face. I wouldn't have forgiven him or put up with that shit no matter how much I loved him. She was too much of a doormat for me. On the other hand I loved Reed and almost kind of wished something real would've happened between them to put Jake in his place.
This is my second read from this author, and I have to say, her books are getting better each time. She has a way of drawing you in and making you feel like you are there, experiencing each laugh, each gut wrenching heartache, each triumph, and loving caress these characters experience. Jake and Tamryn made me love them and root for a happily ever after! One of my favorite tropes...best friends little sister ❤️ I'm looking forward to her future stories
I just finished Whiskey Burned by Jessalyn. OMG & WOW! What a great story. I cried my way through the entire book. Jake is always trying to do the right thing but messes up the best of what is being offered to him. He’s the type of person that doesn’t see what is right in front of him because he’s always looking forward. Tamryn wants what is right in front of her and doesn’t want for more. But Jake needs to understand that her needs, wants, and desires might just be what he’s searching for.
I enjoyed the premise of Whiskey Burned -- Jake promised his best friend, Colby, that he'd look after his little sister, Tamryn, after he died. It's one of my favorite tropes, when they realize that they are in love with each other. But damn, Jake was a dummy! He was SO OBLIVIOUS! And I know that was part of the story: that he's the last to realize that TB loves him and that he's actually been in love with her for years as well. But I just wanted to smack the hell out of him so many times! And for her part, TB never bothered to talk to Jake about her feelings, either. I just felt that there could have been more to this story and exploring their relationship had they both not been so stubborn.
The "Grand Gesture" that Jake does to prove his love to TB is what saved the story for me, though. I received an advanced copy and voluntarily left a review.
First off, guy reader here, romance in any form has not been my genre. Second, this is a really good book, although I did really want to slap both main characters many times. I guess that is why it is a really good book, because I cared for the characters and fell into their world.
This is Jessalyn Jameson's second book and the writing, especially the dialogue, felt much stronger than the first. There is some poetry in the discriptions and some great laugh out loud outbursts as well. The sex is hot, not a book for the young adult crowd. I don't recommend loaning it to your grandmother either, but she could surprise you! But guys, buy this for your wife and enjoy the result. I'm sure Mr. Jameson is a very happy man!
Read it on Radish during a free reading event and got just over half-point before the story locked down. The beginning was promising, but even over half the book and I just felt that the female lead was making really bad choices. If you've lusted after a guy, it doesn't mean you love them was the first that started nagging me, then there were some questionable scenes, like the hallway. Having a best friend in college who wouldn't return any calls. All in all, although I am curious how they will patch things up, not curious enough to pay for the story I didn't get around to read.
Great writing and liked the flow, but couldn't bring it upon myself to like Jake. He's a jerk. And not the lovable or redeemable kind. I just wanted Tamryn to find someone else. I thought it may get better but not so much. The ending was just an eyeroll for me.
