Arrow's Edge MC #3

Edge of Tomorrow

Rate this book
Solitude and motor oil meets soul food and wariness

I’m a grease-stained enigma.
A watcher, a protector, an ex-con, and a mechanic.

My name is Brick.
I’m old enough to know good things come to those who wait, and hungry enough to go after what I want.

I am a proud independent.
A nurturer, a cook, a casualty, and a grandparent.

My name is Lisa.
I’m cautious enough to keep my distance, and too wise to let a chance at love pass me by.

We seem unmatched—in race, in history, in lifestyle—but when tragedy leaves a baby in our care and a target on our backs, we discover the strength of family.
Unified.

This is one of those stories that really get me in the heart. You have two people who have suffered the loss of their family and seeing the emotions and struggles they face when they get a second chance. I personally believe family is very important and it never fails to soften me up inside to see it happen for those who believed it wouldn't.

I can relate so much to Lisa, our heroine. She's a tough character and very independent, but she has learned that she has to be. Those traits are what helped her survive for many years.

I can't even come close to compare to her situation, but I do know what it is like to mainly rely only on myself, and the guilt I feel when I have to ask for help. I can see how having a man like Brick come into her life could cause her to struggle, and also the relief she must feel when she realizes he's there to stay.

While Brick has a different past than Lisa, it's still very similar where it counts. My heart really felt for this guy. I adore the way he realized what he had in Lisa and the kids and that he never once took it for granted. He is a man many could admire.

I love getting to see all the same side characters in this series as well any new additions the author decides to give us. Each time I open a book up in the series, it feels familiar and new all at once. I look forward to more.

This is my first read from this author, I’ll definitely check her other books.

When the first time I read description of this book, I kind of reluctant a little bit.
Yes, I want a mature couple but not sure about grandma and granddad couple, until I found the age of this two. Gosh! They both younger than me, Lol. 🤦‍♀️.

Anyway, this is a very interesting story, our heroine is a black lady who sacrificed so many things, to be able to raise her grandchildren. The hero is a biker, a mechanic to be precise who is by a tragic situation ends up with the responsibilities of his grandson. So this grandma and granddad enjoying their life with three kids, all under 10 years old, nice! 😂.

There’s suspense and horrible things in here too, our heroine had an awful life before she arrived in the club and work as a cook.

So yeah, not just a story about what life as a grandparent would be like, lol 😘.
And I like it!:)

10 Stars!

I wish I had book amnesia ... so I could discover this story and couple all over again!

This story is about a mature couple finding each other and realizing they were better together, rather than apart. They've been through some deep shit very few people survive. This story is about the family you make, set against a background world of bikers.

There are no bitches and hoes (and very little profanity) or whatever you might find in a more grittier biker story. This story has heart, about giving in --but not giving up ... about doing things that are necessary to survive for the sake of the safety of your family.

It's a beautiful story, for me--flawless until the very end. Don't get me wrong the ending is very, very satisfactory but it ended too abruptly and I would've have appreciated a bit of the CHEESE factor because I needed to hear from The Peanut Gallery. PM me if you want me to explain.

Highly, highly recommended: Read It!

When it comes to Freya's writing I read such realness. I will first tell you you. You need to read every book in this series. Freya has the nack to back to make a "regular" not understand the MC.

This is the 3rd book of an incredibly written series. A series that includes different ages, ethnicity, and I guess just different. Welcome to Lisa and Brick.

Older but not dead. They are so stubborn, but they try truly understand a common bond. Freya is beyond elequent at representing so many. I can only smile. The back and forth of Brick and Lisa makes me smile. Define read. I can't wait wait for the next book in this series.

This one is definitely in my top three by Freya!
General gist of the story - Lisa has custody of her granddaughter and grandson. After some drama, she and her grandkids moved and now takes care of the Arrow’s Edge MC’s men and family. (Read the book to find out what drama.) This is where she meets Brick.
For two years they both fight there attraction. And then something happens that has them blurring the lines of friendship. And of course you gotta love the bit of suspense and action in this story!
I loved this one very much! It was well written and features old characters which is what I look for lately. I highly recommend you read this one!

It can be read as a stand-alone.

There’s something about Freya Barker’s writing that just does it for me...especially since it’s really hard these days to find some decent reads.
Loved Lisa and Brick and how perfect they were for each other. A strong, loyal, devoted couple trying to do the best for the kids in their care.

There’s enough external drama to keep the plot moving and the reader engaged. I love that the characters are mature and actually act like adults which is a nice welcomed change 😊

Another wonderful read by Ms. Barker with characters that I instantly fell in love with and a storyline that kept me turning the pages!

Lisa was one tough heroine with a heart of gold and a need to take care of those around her. She struggles accepting help from others but when Brick, after two years, has had enough of her stubborn ways, forces his assistance on her she begins to open herself up to not only love but to new, stronger friendships. Watching that change was sweet and I respected the heck out of her as she dealt with all the twists that life had dealt her.

Brick was exactly as I had hoped he would be. He’s protective, possessive, and very much aware of the beauty that he has in his life with Lisa and the kids. Then again, this author always gives me heroes that I crave. Knowing Brick was celibate throughout the years he was waiting on Lisa made me love him all the more.

This was a relatively fast read with the angst and drama arising from outside the relationship between Brick and Lisa. Watching them make what they had with all the children was beautiful even as they fought against the danger that laid outside their door. I can’t get enough of this group of characters created in this world and I’m super excited to see what’s happening next!

Brick and Lisa have been dancing around each other for 2 years but it's finally their time, and to paraphrase a quote from Ouray, there's going to be another round of drama coming to the Arrow's Edge MC!

Lisa has learned to be a fiercely independent woman and she will go full on mama-bear to protect her grandchildren. Life's hard knocks have taken a toll on her trust especially when it comes to white men, but the MC has given her and the kids more than she can ever repay - not that she will give up trying. Asking for help is not in her repertoire, and accepting unsolicited help is an even bigger challenge because it just tips the scales of her perceived debt to be repaid even farther into the negative column. Sparks fly every time she and Brick interact, both from temper and attraction, but a crisis is about to make them realize life is too short to forgo a chance at happiness.

The cover for this book is one of my favorites I have seen in a long time! Brick is a bearded badass biker but he has infinite gentleness for a tiny baby he never expected to meet. He would be lost without Lisa's help but he also recognizes that he is being given a second chance at having a family of his own. Of course the circumstances surrounding tiny Finn's arrival throw their world into chaos, and Brick and the whole MC go into protector mode to keep their families safe.

Edge of Tomorrow is a wonderful read! As always, the story includes plenty of suspense, action, drama, heat and heart tugging moments that make the pages fly by. The kids are an integral part of the story and emphasize the point that the brotherhood is all about family no matter how an individual comes to be a part of it. There are many familiar faces included that made me smile to see how their lives are progressing as well as some new introductions that I look forward to getting to know better in the future installments of the series.

This book took me forever to finish, but it was pretty cute. I’m just not someone who prefers much action in my books, and there was quite a bit of that in this book so I kept getting a little bored. But the parts with the MC’s were cute!

Once again, Ms. Barker has written an incredibly suspenseful, utterly emotional and steamy romance that I gobbled up like a Thanksgiving turkey dinner....and Brick and Lisa's AMAZING love story, that was a few years in the making, has left me with a full heart and my soul sighing happily!

I know I say this with every single book this author pens, but Brick and Lisa's story is my FAVOURITE!!! It's just a teeny, tiny bit MORE! More gut-wrenching, more heart-stopping suspense.....just MORE! I absolutely ADORE how Freya never disappoints, how her writing just reaches out and grabs you by the throat, not letting go until the last word of the last paragraph. I, once again, couldn't put this one down until I was done!

Brick and Lisa have been avoiding their attraction to each for a long, looooong time. Both have endured a LOT of hurt and loss in their lives and are protective of their hearts, and in Lisa's case, she's got her grandbabies to worry about, as well! When disaster strikes, along with all the suspense that comes with it, Brick and Lisa FINALLY get together....and I loved every single thing about my new FAVE couple in the Barker line-up of glorious characters!

Edge of Tomorrow is the 3rd book in the Arrow's Edge MC series. It CAN be read as a standalone, but I strongly urge you to read them in order in order to get a fuller, richer understanding of just how MASTERFULLY written this series really is! ANOTHER MUST READ in this authors' portfolio of UN-PUT-DOWNABLE reads!!!

Adukt romance with adult lives

Meeting the club of men that take on brotherhood and family in their own way. A group of people that give home and sense of belonging to those that have lost hope. A group of people that open the door to more love, community, pride, respect, and more. I loved returning back to this group of people that show because of age you have had a life worth living and one that was lived with wisdom to pass on. Brick and Lisa were no exception. Both had lived a life that brought them to the same place and almost identical situation that left them both with being the parent to their grandchildren.

Brick showed his patience for Lisa for two years. He watched over her and her grandbabies showing his concern and protective streak. He finally gets a chance to have more but at what cost to himself. Past and present begins to blend with events coming over this fall season.

Freya Barker did what I love best about her writing. She gives a couple with season and life. They are not new to the world and its cruelties. She finds a way to incorporate their respective lives lived, the children, and the community they are a part of and makes it feel like you are there every step of the way.

Grown up adults that still have some life to live and love to give.

This is the third book in the Arrow's Edge MC series and each book just gets better than the last.
Brick is an ex-con and a mechanic for Arrow's Edge's Garage and is only with the MC a few years. I was dying to learn more about Brick and his history. Lisa came to the MC with her two young grandchildren and took over for Momma as the cook and caretaker of this group of men and their wards. There were so many layers to Lisa, and I loved her grandchildren Ezra and Kiara.
Brick and Lisa have suffered such pain and heartache in their pasts and have danced around their feelings for each other for the past 2 years. Just as these two are starting to break down each others walls, tragedy strikes for Brick and his and Lisa's lives take dramatic turns.
What I love most about these characters is the maturity that they encompass. The twists and turns this story takes is so much richer because of what these characters have endured in their lives individually.
Freya is a master at weaving suspense and romance into her stories that are full of rich characters that you are so invested in.
I enjoyed this story so much and couldn't put it down.

Brick and Lisa have been on the edges of the previous Arrows Edge books, and this is their time to be front and centre.
Lisa who is the cook for the Arrows Edge MC, grandmother & sole Carer to the adorable Kiara & Ezra has a strained relationship with Brick, a man who doesn’t always think before he speaks, but the attraction is clear for all to see.
Life throws a curveball to Brick and like that his life and consequently Lisa’s change dramatically.
A perfect mix of drama, suspense and romance , with a liberal sprinkling of all of the usual traits we’ve come to know and love from a Freya Barker book.
I love the continuation of storylines from Book 1, and the introduction & hints of further books (I hope)
I was so excited to read Brick and Lisa’s story, but Edge of Tomorrow was everything I was hoping for and much more

Here we go again with Freya Barker being an incredibly talented author. Edge of Tomorrow is a story jam-packed with suspense, emotion, heat, and of course the best of romance. I've always adored how real Freya's characters are and Brick and Lisa are a prime example of that. They're older, more mature, have real-world problems so many people will be able to relate to, they're perfectly imperfect and brought to life in a way that makes you feel like you're cheering for your best friends to get their HEA instead of fictional characters.
Be prepared for a roller coaster ride of a book when you pick this up because Freya Barker does not hold back! You'll be on the edge of your seat start to finish while you fall in love right along with Brick and Lisa.

I feel like I just blinked and POOF I was done the book. Like...I legit lost time and this is by no means a short book. It’s just so good you can’t stop reading.
I’ve been waiting FOREVER (insert dramatic voice) for Lisa’s book. Ever since we caught our first glimpse of her in Edge of Reason I’ve been wanting to know more about her.
Edge of Tomorrow is classic Freya Barker....real characters, real issues, believable storyline and off the charts heat. I just can’t get enough. I want more!

Both celibate after meeting, this is one of my favs by this author. No ow/om drama, not alpha arsehole, no wild club parties and club girls... It was a good story, both mc's going through hard times and yet they are there for each other.

Lisa's so used to doing everything with no help that she brushes it off when anyone tries. She's crushed on Brick since she started her job with his club, Arrow's Edge MC, but he always seems so impatient and gruff with her that when he (grumpily) tries to help her, she tries her damndest to put him off. But Brick's bided his time for long enough, he's out to tell Lisa how he feels about her, and helping her is part of showing her. So she'll just have to accept his help whether she wants to or not. Then accept their attraction, and everything that goes along with a relationship.

But it's really Lisa who will be there helping when Brick is faced with something (someone) he never saw coming. Can these two with so much baggage make a thing work, in the face of her past, his past, and outside forces intent on keeping them apart?

I think this couple is my favorite Arrow's Edge couple yet. Lisa is so strong and independent, not looking for any help or love when Brick finally lets her know how he feels, and is brought to his knees by her, by love. They're so intense and passionate together, surrounded by the people who love them most. Now I'm excited more than ever to read the next Arrow's Edge couple.

Edge of Tomorrow
(Arrow’s Edge MC #3)
By Freya Barker

If I weren’t already a big fan of Author Freya Barker the cover on this book would have sold me anyway. That wonderfully handsome, bearded man cuddling that baby….I mean how can you not want to read this story!

The fact that this was Brick’s story though, enough said. Since I first met Brick’s character I have wanted to read his story and I did a little happy dance when I finally opened the book. Lisa, and her two darling grandchildren Ezrah and Kiara who I got to know much better in Edge of Darkness have a self-appointed protector…of course Brick!

I love Brick, and I was excited to learn more about him, to be saddened when he suffered the loss of his daughter early on in this story. If there can be a ray of sunshine for Brick, it was finding out he had a grandson, which had him promising his daughter’s memory that he would take good care of her little boy.

Lisa (who is a young Nana) is now working at the Arrow’s compound, taking over what Mamma use to do and although she sees it as a job, Brick and a few of the others are determined to make Lisa see that she and the children are now a part of this “family”, so when they find out she has a health issue, Brick is right there, for Lisa, his grandson Finn and Ezrah and Kiara as the rest of the MC step up to help out as well.

I loved watching these two figure out how they could make this work and what starts out as a way for Brick to get custody of his grandson, turns into a story or respect, caring and eventually love. Of course none of this is going to come easy.

There is one thing that is a mystery though, it is who was baby Finn’s father?
Just when things look like they are going well, the past comes back to haunt Lisa and she and the three children are in danger…

Author Freya Barker never fails me! She always delivers well-written stories that a full of suspense, love and often children. She did it yet again in Edge of Tomorrow. It was over so fast I worried I missed a chapter or five, but no, it just flowed and kept me captivated. I am loving this series.

Another great addition to the Arrow's Edge MC series.

Brick is my favorite so far, gotta love that surly, strong, silent type. But, as is the beauty of this author's main characters, he soon realizes he isn't getting any younger and it's time to take life by the horns and live. Lisa is just as bad, trying to fight the inevitable for two long years, but everything in it's time, I guess, because these two ended up right where they were meant to be.

For me, every book this author writes is a perfect balance between the suspense and the romance and my heart is always happy when I close the cover.

Lisa is a strong black woman with a huge heart that has trouble asking for and accepting help, and is raising her grand babies (one who needs a story of his own some day!) not looking for love. Brick is a 50 year old biker, loves his brothers, has a life changing thing happen and is just biding his time to make his move.

Loved these characters. There is so much happening but there is still a love story amongst the drama. Didn't expect the link to a previous "bad guy". This story kept me entertained and on the edge of my seat.

Love older couple romance, although sometimes they make them seem too old! This book was really sweet and the only one in the series I’ve read so not sure if there was more backstory to Lisa and Brick. Loved their characters and I’d definitely read the other books in the series even though they’re not bwwm/ir. Freya barker writes quite emotionally.

Edge of Tomorrow by Freya Barker
Arrow’s Edge MC #3

I do love a good book and know that when I sit down with one written by Freya Barker I will be in for a treat – and – what a treat this book was! I love this author, this series, and the characters in this book!

What I liked:
* Brick: a good man that has done time, seems tough on the outside but has a softness for those he loves and cares about. His MC provides him brothers, a family, and a place he calls home.
* Lisa: a good woman that has experienced much. She raised her daughter and now is raising her grandchildren. She is loving, kind, acerbic, a bit tough, cautious, and also soft in the center for those she cares about and loves.
* Ezrah & Kiara: Lisa’s grandchildren are opposites and they have experienced more than they should have so early in life. They definitely add to the story.
* The interaction between Brick and Lisa – witty, quick, caring, kind, and eventually loving
* The way Brick and Lisa work together to make things right for their grandchildren
* Finn: Brick’s tiny grandson – how he comes into Brick’s life is sad but it is also provides hope to more than one
* The real feel of the main characters – neither was perfect, but they were perfect for one another
* The MC members and their significant others…so good to see them again.
* The way the MC members pull together and achieve all that they do
* Wondering if Gonzales has a mate
* The writing, story, mystery, thrills, and chills within the story
* The smiles & sadness + joy and sorrow = great balance to the story
* Knowing there will be more in the future and wondering who will be next up to find their HEA

What I did not like:
* The bad guys…and what they did
* Having to say goodbye and wait till the next book is ready to read

Did I enjoy this book? Definitely
Would I read more by this author? Without a doubt
Would I read more in this series? As soon as I can

Thank you to the author for the ARC – This is my honest review.

I had just settled on my favourite hero when along comes Brick !! All of Freya's books are a roller coaster ride of emotions that we can identify with but this one melts your heart , we are back at Arrows Edge MC and we get to know more about Lisa and Brick who for the past two years have been skating around their feelings for each other , Lisa has taken over the role Mamma had before she passed away and is happy to spend each day looking after her 2 grandchildren and cooking for the guys at the club, she has settled in to her new house and routine and is thankful everyday for her new life after they were rescued from the white supremacists who lived at the Hinkle ranch. Brick has spent time in jail for auto theft and at 50 only wants to be a good person he finally decides it is time to make a move for Lisa when he is knocked on his ass by a telephone call from a daughter he hasn't seen for 18 years she is on her way to see him only she doesn't arrive , after a while Brick starts to get worried and when the police turn up he finds out his daughter has been killed under suspicious circumstances as she was run off the road and has left a baby boy and Brick is his only relative as the boys father is unknown, he is devastated and although Lisa is herself not feeling well she steps up and takes control over the situation inviting them to stay at her house until things can get sorted out , this brings them closer together and they finally admit their feelings for each other and he is surprised how quickly he bonds with his tiny grandson, but as we all know with Freya's books things are never that simple and sinister situations start to appear with DPD and Ouray's wife FBI agent Luna heading up the investigation we soon discover a much wider problem which threatens Bricks life as well as Lisa's , I loved this book read in one sitting now have to find something to fill the time until the next installment hope it TSE story.

Freya Barker writes my favorite type of story. A fantastic romantic story teeming with suspense. She incorporates unexpected plot twists guaranteeing page-turning captivation. And the best part… she creates mature characters who come with multiple layers of life experiences. They understand what a good thing is, appreciating its rarity. They know to care for it, nurture it, and above all else, hang on to it!

Lisa and Brick are two strong, fiercely independent characters who’ve experienced the harshness of life. Both are afraid to trust. But circumstances prove sometimes you have to put faith in others.

A mysterious chain of events changes the lives of Brick & Lisa. It also makes them a target. Brick has always watched over Lisa from a distance, providing any protection or help needed, when she would let him, that is. Lisa’s been aloof, moving through life taking care of the club and her grandbabies without thought of herself. She stopped dreaming a long time ago. Fairytales are just that…tales. Lisa has learned they won’t come true for her. But the chain of events shows her that Brick has been there all along and that stubborn man just might have a heart built solely for her.

“Thought I was something to be used and discarded. Brick showed I was something to be respected and treasured.”

SWOON!! But will it be too late for them?

“I lie looking up at the ceiling, not wanting to miss a second of her heart warming my body and her scent teasing my nose, a dream realized in the middle of my nightmare.”

Does the enemy have their hooks in too deep? Will these two ever get the fairy tale they both deserve?
A riveting tale with a plot twist I didn’t expect! Another great addition to the series!

As we have read the series we have met Lisa and Brick. They have danced around each other for the past two years since Lisa's arrival at the club, taking over to fill the whole that was caused with the loss of Momma. Life brings Brick some re-found heartache and some newfound love. This book is charged with emotions, fear & unknowns, love & caring and the cutest kids.

Lisa is almost defiantly independent, as her years have taught her to do for herself as life with unpaid debt can be very dangerous. She is a loving grandmother raising her two grandchildren, and will stop at nothing to protect them. She doesn't sit still well and is forever trying to look after everyone else. But taking or asking for some help is not in her normal.

Brick has come to the Arrow's Edge only a little while ago and we don't really know much about his past. He is the club mechanic and he likes to help a guy out when needed. When he finds himself taking care of a grandbaby he never expect to have or see, he becomes a big snuggly papa bear.

They quickly realized that life is to short to dance around what you want. Living for the now and protecting what is yours is so much better. The form a strong front in blocking the dangers that are headed their way to protect the little ones.

Ms. Barker has me hooked on this MC series that shows us the true meaning of FRAMILY, the family that you get to choose, that is sometimes stronger than the one we are given.
