Fodor's Travel Publications is a United States-based producer of English-language travel guides and online tourism information. It was founded by Hungarian Eugene Fodor in 1936. Fodor’s was acquired by Random House in 1986 and sold to Internet Brands in 2016.
A good guide for those who like fancy foods and shopping. There was some about museums and other things I find more interesting but I was hoping for more local information. Happily, the local folk were super helpful and liked sharing their inside info when we got them talking! I did have a good experience with Fodor's New York book back in 2005 but I think I'll use other brands of guide books for my go-tos and maybe thumb through a Fodor's at the library.
I purchased this book as an e-book to prep for my trip, and it included all the info I needed, from maps to must see sights by area/neighborhood, including transportation options to get from one area to another. It was a well organized, easy, and fast read.
Overall this is a well constructed travel guide. It hits all the major points of interest and contains excellent tips on getting around using public transport. For a region known for it's beautiful landscape and outdoorsy, west coast vibe I do wish more time had been spent on the "what to do" sports and outdoors section.
Decent review of Vancouver, found it educational and easy to follow. Have not gone yet, which will be the real judge of how good the book is. Wish it included more prices- but is this the fault of the writers or the excursion companies?
