I've been baking from this book for years, it's loaded with delights (and a few misses too). The pie crust is a staple. Purdy tends to recommend too much vanilla for my taste and sometimes understates the cooking time. She includes great background on the recipes. Great book for those that don't want to sacrifice taste (at all) but would prefer not to have excess fat in their baking.

This book has been my go-to for years and years. The recipes are great and so do not taste low-fat. I make her Vermont Maple Apple Muffins at least once a month and her Lemon Poppy Seed cake is absolutely divine. Definitely a great-to-have cookbook!

The recipes do not taste low fat and are both easy to put together and delicious. There are recipes for cakes and other kinds of desserts as well, puddings for example.
