Santa knows when you've been bad or good. And he doesn't care, so do what you want.
A lich is any creature that become immortal by magical means. Old Kris Kringle figured it out a long time ago. It takes sacrifice.
And this year, he wants to sacrifice Leery.
Leery thought the holiday season would be filled with eggnog, parties, and maybe even a certain succubus standing under mistletoe. But it seems Santa has him on the naughty list for certain thoughts he had about a certain succubus standing under the mistletoe…
Will Dru and Leery spend Christmas Eve together or will they have to Slay Fell Things?
Critical Acclaim for CLAW & ★★★★★ “[T]he 'other world' is swarming with their own problems to keep their side under control in New York. I’m no stranger to Erik Henry Vick’s universe as I’m a fan of The Bloodletter Saga. Vick’s intriguing, ghoulish, fast-paced plot and solid characterization are as entertaining as I expected. There are ample thrills, chills, and fun to satisfy readers' appetites. The dialogue and prose generate the entertaining moments and the degree of tension best suited to launch the next twist…yet more proof of Erik Henry Vick’s storytelling expertise in the supernatural world.”--Lit Amri, Readers' Favorite Reviews★★★★★ “I enjoyed the amalgamation of so many types of supernaturals… The banter between the characters was brilliantly executed, portraying different levels of complex relationships. Sometimes I couldn't help but grin at a well-spun conversation, let alone how the creatures' unique traits or weaknesses are evoked to further the investigation. I enjoyed the third-person narrative and how the high-pressure roles were portrayed… The characters were brilliantly portrayed.“--K.J. Simmill, Readers' Favorite Reviews★★★★★ “The idea that there are two simultaneous types of society working side-by-side was a fascinating premise… The characters are fully overdrawn, as is the nature in this genre, and author Erik Henry Vick has done a fantastic job of giving them real and recognizable emotions and foibles that endear them to the reader... The writing style is flowing and easy to read. If urban fantasy is your thing, this is a book you must read but even if it’s not, this is a book you should read. I did and I’m glad of it – an excellent read.”--Grant Leishman, Readers' Favorite Reviews

Fast-paced! Riveting! Exciting! Addictive! After the first few pages, I knew this was a book I wasn’t going to be able to put down, until I got to The End. Not only is this a very well-written book with wonderfully-interesting characters, but the suspense builds at just the right pace as the story unfolds.
*I received a complimentary ARC of this book in order to read and provide a voluntary, unbiased and honest review, should I choose to do so.
Ninth book in a series, all written in 2020. Pretty amazing achievement! On top of that is another book also written this year. Talk about prolific. This is probably my favourite of the nine, with more action, more character depth and a growing list of protagonists, though it's still about Leery, a Jewish werewolf and Dru, a princess of Gehenna, his partner. Add Santa Clause as their target of investigation and you have the largest story thus far in this library of work. Lots of humour and an astounding knowledge of the cast of undead and supernatural characters will leave you appreciating just how much the human mind has grown these imaginary magical beings from the depths of fear and wild myth-telling over the centuries, which provides us with a large pool of supernatural beings from which the author has drawn in order to entertain and even educate us, in the process. Get your fangs into this tale of Santa, in all his various forms from many cultures, in the most involved, action packed story yet. But, best if you start at the beginning, to fully appreciate the people who you'll meet in here and their backstories. Most of all, enjoy yourself, with a different Christmas story, but don't let your children read it!
It starts with a vampire who was staked and buried feet up. The stake had runes carved in it. The stake could not be removed. Then more vampires buried upside down were discovered. Next were the mass of elves that were found buried. Who could have committed these atrocities? Leery and Dru had to pull in various resources to learn what was written on the stakes. Once they deciphered the runes,, they found an amazing clue. The coins found in the dead elves mouths mimicked the magic of the stakes. Liz, Vinnie, Dru and Leery had to think 'out of the box' to discover the culprit's identity, as he had many aliases. A raid, turned ambush, had Dru and Leery transported to another realm, thus leaving the chaos at home to find a larger force of Drow trying to eliminate them. You are on the edge of your seat wondering how the tides of the battle will turn out. You definitely will find the conclusion of the battle and trial interesting. You will also get hints of what may happen in Dru's and Leery's relationship, the book is a fun and exciting read. I hope there will be another in the series.

I really like the stories in this series. Leery is absolutely hilarious! I love his snark and fake idiosy. Dru is a classy lady with lots of understanding and her own kind of snark. Together they just work. I really hope Erik is able to do a couple more books in this series. Erik,, talk to your doctor about buprenorphine. It's a much more gentle prescription pain reliever. Not so many side effects. I had a 93 year old friend that used it for her RA. Doctors need to realize that sometimes quality of life needs to be taken into account so people like you can do the work that matters to YOUR quality of life. Erik, you rock. I hope you write at least to book 10, but I understand pain also. I live with fibromyalgia and the buprenorphine has saved my life. I'll be 70 next year and I loved this series. I'm going after your other series because I love the way you write!!! Rock ON!!!!
We all know Santa has a 'nice' and a 'naughty' list, but did you ever wonder on which list HE might be on?
Well, the latest edition in this series might just surprise you!
Lenny and Dru have their hands full once more with other-worldly beings bringing havoc to the Locus of New York. To quote a famous country performer, Dru has "friends in low places" and they sure do come in handy at times!!!
Law and Order fans will love this take off on that 'old' TV series!
Highly recommend this to you, the potential reader!!!!!!
Leery n Dru are back and this time it’s “present” - someone has been killing vampires in the permanent sense.. it’s up to the Supernatural Investigations Unit to find out who
I’ve read all nine books in the last couple of months and it’s a great homage to the “Law n Order” series - I can see the actors in the characters and the format of the series in the writing
A rousing conclusion to this series. All the elements of the Claw & Warder series was evident, with humor and action sharing equally in this satisfying outing. When the gauntlet was thrown Leery and Dru were true to form with ferocity and spellcraft. And when times were dark and threatening the arrival of the cavalry was quite the spectacle. Actually I had anticipated the courtroom to be more contested and the outcome was a bit of a letdown. Ah, but the dénouement....
Great stories & characters.Love them all.I hope that there will be more stories about Leery & Dru.I loved the fact that Leery in werewolf form is a Hassidic Jew & that Dru is a princess of Hell.My perception of "Luci" has been changed by these stories.Enjoy your life & fight "Petunia" with all you can.Thanx again for these stories.
Received as ARC. Dru and Leery are called to the scene of a discovered body. The body is a vampire who has been staked to the ground and buried head down, which causes the true death of a vampire. A total of 5 vampires are found in the field, all staked and buried head down, Then a group of elves is found in the same field. One thing leads to another, and they arrest a monster named Kris Kringle. Another great addition to the series. Love the developing relationship between Dru and Leery. It's about time.
Slay Fell Things, Episode 9 in Erik Henry Vick's Claw & Warder collection, is awesome! True to form, Mr. Vick brings us a great story, packed with wonderful characters and filled with his special style of witty humor.
Continued adventures of Dru and Leery, full of trentas of black coffee, puns galore, and lots of detection. Linguistic connections and legal and police maneuvers fill out the muscular action. Good fun throughout.
Our favorite detectives and their merry band of coworkers have to deal with some nasty Yuletide activities. A wonderful tale enjoyed by both my husband and myself.
I think this is one of the best series I have read in a while. I shall have to go back to book one and say that there too to help potential readers to choose to read this as well, is they like clean paranormal mysteries.
