Duty calls for the youngest O'Brien son. Then in a flash of heat, smoke, and flame comes a time of great suffering. Seany O'Brien has kept with family tradition, choosing a career as a first responder. But his choice brings risk and heartbreaking sacrifice. Lost in a fog of pain and grief, not even the fierce love of the O'Brien clan can pull him from his unending nightmare. But sometimes salvation arrives on two legs and other times on four. Maureen Rogers has lived a lifetime in the six years since she said goodbye to a dashing, young Irishman. They were too young, too passionate, and separated by too many miles. But she is a girl no longer. No man has ever captured her heart like the beautiful Irish boy of her girlhood. When Seany O'Brien is wounded in the line of duty, Moe answers a desperate call, bringing her to the bedside of her first love, and unexpectedly to the vast and breathtaking hills of Connemara.

I can't begin to tell you how captivating The O'Brien Tales series is. I could not put them down. Each book in the series can stand alone and each book is amazing!!!! Once you read one you can't stop until you have read the entire series!. I feel like I know all the characters personally. I will reread every one again. They areAmazing
If I could give more stars I would!! Oh how I LOVE these 2 characters 😍.. I love how Stacey ties this whole clan together throughout All of her books. If you have no concept of how a family Should behave, please start with book 1 and continue as you will NEVER be disappointed!! 2 teenagers meet, fall in love, but are told "it's just a crush" "You're too young to be in love"..unless you're an O'Brien! When you meet your mate, no one else will do. Be ready to shed some tears, laugh out loud, and fall in love with this Awesome family!!!
Seany O'Brien story is heart wrenching at times. His story makes you laugh out loud and wipe the tears away as well. His story is about love, life, death family and friends. You can't help but cheer for him.
Love, love, love!!!! Another story of this amazing family and another chance to fall even more in love with the characters. Now I cannot wait until the next one!
Every book in this series has been wonderful with great characters and story lines. I feel as though I’ve been to every location and know every character.
She has done it again!! Obsessed with this series!! I always say “this one is my favorite “! But I really mean it this time! The book kept me up too late for too many nights. That’s a great sign of success! And the hot, hot, hot headline isn’t just about the fires! Next please!
As usual, I laughed and cried my way until the very end...not able to put the book down, yet dreading that each minute spent reading was bringing me closer to the end. The characters are so real (although their sex lives are described a bit too explicitly for me.) Stacey Reynolds passion, heart, and writing artistry are captivating. I can’t wait to see where Josh’s story goes!
I have read every one of the O'Brien Tales and thoroughly enjoy them. I was so glad to see Burning Embers pop up in my Kindle this week. I needed a late-night break from working yesterday and picked it up. I thought I would read a few chapters to get me motivated and finish it this weekend. Instead I finished the entire book around 3AM! I read quickly, and don't usually stay up all night the day before a work deadline to do so, but I have loved the character of Seany since A Lantern in the Dark (#2) and wanted to read the next chapter of his story.
Stacey Reynolds' seven O'Brien Tales tell the story of the O'Brien family and each book focuses on the love story of one of the young O'Brien men, while introducing you to so many other characters. You finish each book satisfied with where the main characters are in their lives - SPOILER ALERT ... they usually get the girl but it is never easy! - but always know at the end of a few other stories that you need to read about next. Then you wait the many months until the next installment. So, I will now have to wait until #8 is published and Stacey hinted at a few characters whose stories we are all now impatiently waiting for.
I discovered the O'Brien Family a year ago. I read them all in succession and then pre-ordered this one. This book revisited the entire family, which I always enjoy.
Seany and Moe's story of lost love found anew was fun, funny, educational, and emotional. Not many of the books I've read deal with autism which is a subject near and dear to my heart (my son). Then to address PTSD as well was something I was happy to see. Seany's journey with PTSD was poignant and well written, bringing tears more than once. It feels like someone I actually know who is dealing with this.
It was also fun and funny in the O'Brien way. Makes me yearn for my next trip to Ireland, which in times of CoVid probably won't be any time soon.
I have thoroughly enjoyed this series and patiently awaited the culmination of Seany and Moe’s journey to a life together. 2020 has been quite filled with disappointment, worries and strife. Spending a little time with a good story in a wonderful setting is quite therapeutic. I will continue dreaming of getting on a plane and going to explore Ireland when this is all over - soon, I pray!
This book was worth the wait. We any is a favorite of mine. I thought it would be hard to picture him as a grown man. Your description of Maureen seeing Sean the time was perfect. The book has romance, suspense and tragedy all held together by family. Families that aren't easy or perfect and not always blood related. Families that support and love no matter what comes their way. My favorite person in every book is Cora. I can not wait to see what she brings to your next book and her future.
The story captures you immediately. It gives just enough background to remember the firmer stories. Spoiler have a box of tissues ready right out of the gate. Shannon creates such moving emotions in all her characters that transfer to the reader making it almost impossible to put the book down. I hate it ended. I only hope she lets us know what happens with her last character in the near future.
I was so looking forward to the release of this book and was not disappointed. Stacey Reynolds is an amazing story teller and I loved Sean and Moe’s story. I also like how she introduces so many great characters. I am hoping Michele, Jenny and Seamus will all get their own story. Looking forward to Josh’s story.
I had to read Burning Embers twice before I could put it down. I waited for and anticipated this book. It sucked me in. Now I have to wait for the next book. I hope it is about Josh and Maddie or David and Aoife. Thanks Stacey for giving us something to look forward to and enjoy!
Stacey Reynolds leaves me speechless once again. The way she beautifully weaves a tale is a gift. We have watched Seany grow from a teen to a man over the span of this series and now he finally gets his HEA with his long lost love.
The is story and this SERIES are not to be missed. And Stacey...Never stop writing. Never stop telling stories.
I loved this O'Brien tale. The youngest O'Brien son ,now a man, becomes a hero in the face of such tragedy and loss. Firemen and first responders really are every day hero's living among us all. His tale of rediscovering his lost love is so touching. Well written and full of suspense and advice.
I really love this beautiful saga. I was so happy to see it in the recommended reads for me. Thanks. I hope book 8 comes soon. I can’t wait for the wedding and Josh’s story.
I love every O'Brien love story, and this was no exception!A story of 2 teens who fell in love, only to be parted by an ocean!Time and tide would reunite them, but would their love survive? Here's hoping the O'Brien's have more stories to tell!
I have read all seven of The O'Brien Tales & each one is absolutely perfect. The O'Brien family draw you into their lives where you can love, laugh, hope & just live for the sake of it!
...and you have read the previous books and novellas. You are going to need the background to get the most from this book! It is a wonderful story. At times fun and at times heartbreaking. I don't recommend starting with this book, you need the background from the other books. At least be glad as you read up to and through this book that you haven't needed to wait as each of the books came out!
The only thing that causes me to rate 4 stars instead of 5 is the graphic, and kind of course, language she uses in the sex scenes. I don't remember the logged books being so graphic. I may be a small minority but I prefer the little more "gentel" language.
Language or not, it is an amazing book in an amazing series. Enjoy
I wanted to follow Seany’s story, but there was no way, within that setting, to make Hurricane Harvey not seem like an insulting caricature. The VA would absolutely have cancelled appointments ahead of time, and Houston had an unusual amount of warning with that storm, given that it struck Corpus Christi first. A hurricane just wasn’t going to work for that plot device, and using a historical (as opposed to a fictional) storm is only going to insult those who lived through it if an author can’t craft the scenario realistically and without overdramatizing it.
