Dr. Autumn Trent used to be normal. She went to school, loved her younger sister, and adored animals of every kind. She even loved her parents. Too bad they didn’t love her in return.
In an instant, everything shifted. With one final blow from her father, her life changed...for both good and bad. The foster system sucked her down, and her new adoptive parents pulled her back up. A brain injury left her with a scar, and it also left her with a knowledge she can’t explain.
Now, as she flounders in college, trying to find her way, a fate-filled night puts her in the path between good and bad. And provides a new insight...not everything is as it seems. And she wants to know why. Even if it kills her to find out.
If Autumn seems familiar, that’s because you’ve met her in Mary Stone’s highly acclaimed Winter Black Series. In Winter’s series, Autumn fights for justice with the FBI team. Her Doctor of Jurisprudence as well as a Ph.D. in Forensic Psychology give her insights into the human mind. So does her touch.
How did Autumn transform from a girl to a woman with a slew of advanced degrees? Autumn’s Rise is the prequel to Mary’s brand new Autumn Trent Series, and will take you back to the beginning. Hold onto your Kindle. The ride is twisty.

I loved getting to dive more into Autumn’s story and be with her as she takes on a serial killer in Oregon. This was a dark one, and had lots of intense and harsh scenes, including child abuse, that was hard to stomach. But it was really well told and I loved how it ended.
“This is a spinoff of the Winter Black series and is a riveting psychological murder mystery that continues where Winter’s End left off, and will make you watch what you say behind your closed doors.”
Autumn's Rise is Book #0.5 in the Autumn Trent Series by Mary Stone. This series is a gripping blend of psychological suspense, crime & investigation, and deeply human storytelling. We follow FBI Special Agent and forensic psychologist Autumn Trent, a woman whose own traumatic past fuels her relentless pursuit of justice. Ms. Stone cleverly weaves high-stakes criminal cases with plenty of emotional depth. Autumn isn’t just a crime solver; she’s a survivor who is navigating grief, moral dilemmas, and the complexities of human behavior. Each book layers intense investigations with more personal stakes, making us (readers) feel both the adrenaline of the chase as well as the weight of the consequences. Ms. Stone’s villains are chillingly believable, and the psychological profiling elements also added a fascinating dimension for us readers who enjoy the ‘why’ behind the crime as much as the ‘who’. Fans of character-driven thrillers will appreciate how Autumn’s relationships - with colleagues, friends, and even antagonists - evolve across the series, giving it a strong emotional core. Perfect for readers who enjoy crime thrillers with a smart, resilient heroine and a mix of heart-pounding action and psychological intrigue. Happy Reading…
I can't begin to say how much I loved this short story. Autumn is a college student who isn't entirely sure what she wants to be now that she is "growing up".
She goes on a blind date with her roommate, Alicia, and ends up heading back to the dorm by herself. She stops to get something to eat and, at that point, the story draws you in deep and fast. It's a great thing that the story was short because I couldn't put it down!
I highly recommend this story. And guess what? If you enjoyed it as much as I did, it is the introduction to a series: Autumn Trent. I enjoyed it so much that I also read the first book in the series.
A quick read that shows Autumn in her early days of college. This is an introduction to her skill/talent/gift and how it helped her change her academic and professional path. This is a great read and a good example of how she is empathetic to many people and situations. I loved the characters and examples given and how Autumn worked things out.
I could not find this story at first, but when I asked the MS group in FB they shared it was a link in the Autumn books via book funnel.
Enjoyed this second book in the series with one exception. Really tired of the whole Justin saga and would like to see that put to rest. The best part of the book is the new case with all the usual characters which was well written and intriguing.
Love this series, each one better than the one before. With Autumn back from Quantico, SSA Trent is on her first case with the team. I promise you will love this new book in the series.
