Long respected for its scientific authority, pedagogy, and clinical relevance to medical education, this comprehensive embryology text features outstanding illustrations and clear and concise writing. The brand-new Tenth Edition covers all aspects of embryology of interest to medical students and instructors and includes clinical correlates that provide information on birth defects and other clinical entities directly related to embryologic concepts. This extensively revised edition features new full-color photographs of clinical conditions and updated embryo images/photographs created using newer technologies. It also features new online USMLE-style review questions through Connection / The Point. A new introduction chapter on development includes molecular biology. This edition's larger page size improves readability. A bound-in CD-ROM, Simbryo , presents animations of embryologic system development.

What a terrible book. It is probably the worst piece of medical literature I own. It is not only badly written, but also without any effort to try and make the topics just the least interesting.
Don't ever buy this book! If you study medicine, you can surely find the information elsewhere cheaper and way, way better! I did.
I do still own this book though, with the sole purpose, that it contains a lot of terrifying pictures of disabled fetuses and severely mutated newborns that I can show any couple that still doesn't think it hurts to smoke and drink alcohol during pregnancy. :) An overreaction and oversimplification I know, but hey, it works... ;)
Embryology is a really tough subject to tackle. This book not only succeeds in explaining embryology, but it also provides a very helpful insight about the genetic bases of embryology. All in all, this book is great. I highly recommend it.
Idk why i read this. But i kinda sorta did. Skimmed through mostly. Bad idea. One of the toughest and densest books ive ever read in my LIFE. Not necessary and will not recommended for new med students. Too dense, too much fluff and most of it is for gynecologists and their understanding. For embryology, stick to class notes.
concise book and is enough for undergraduate. more emphasis is given on clinical aspects and molecular regulations(which I think is not required at undergraduate level ). the real problem is with its illustrations and without good illustrations the already confusing embryo becomes a headache and you start hating this interesting (which I discovered later) subject. from my personal experience I would recommend animations available on youtube and all this book would take your 2 or 3 days .
I read parts of it that I needed for my embryology exam. Among all the other books I had to choose from, this one was the most helpful and I will definitely use it again for the upcoming exam as it made studying much easier and more interesting with detailed pictures and clinical examples.
This book was a nightmare for me.... I read it my second year of med school, oh my god, it was torture! I hated embryology! The book was too hard for me at that level... I would not recommend this, I suggest something simpler, since Embryology itself is complicated like crazy!
This book was recommended for my first year of grad medicine. I found it really tricky to follow, especially since I have such a limited background in the subject matter. Some of the information was useful, but I understood so little and it was just too overwhelming to use.
Not sure if I'd recommend it to others - I'll have to revisit it once I've learned more of my course.
This book for me from the top of those books that i liked from Curriculum ever that we taken :) and i am really enjoyed from time of studying and even during exam , there are some positive points i feel from this book -* simple explaining that help us as a beginner for embryology , -* so many scientific image really helpful despite those from clinical images that they are really incredible , -* although there is chapter special for defects ( chapter 8 ) but in any system or organ developing re remind any defects and causes relate to this organ . totally it was so attractive book that change lots of habits and angle of view in our mind and make us more sensitive to the environmental condition for pregnant women and lots of new and helpful information Me as a dentistry student we took from this book whole chapters of ( part one (11-111 p. ) and 2 chapters from second part ( head and neck- p. 257 & central nervous system - p. 285 ) but iam really urge to take whole chapters i am waiting for some one helping me from any possible time . as my opinion it should't be just recommend for medical student it will be so help ful for any one how try to have healthy pregnant time and healthy baby :) :)
