A body frozen in the snow. A town desperate to hide the truth…
Walking out of a cozy café, reporter Emma Frost staggers to the ground when a dying man collapses into her arms. She tries to warm his frost-bitten skin, to stop the shivers racking through his frozen body, but moments later he falls still. No pulse in his pale blue throat.
When the autopsy reveals that it was not a typical case of hypothermia, Emma is certain this is the work of a twisted individual and begins tracking him down. But her world comes crashing down when she goes to kiss her son goodnight and finds him trembling beneath the sheets, his skin like ice.
Has this ruthless killer targeted Emma’s own son? And how is he making his victims sick to death?
As doctors work through the night to save her little boy, Emma drags herself from his bedside to attend to the body of a little girl found lying next to a man in a black uniform, frozen in the snow. She can’t let any more innocent lives be taken. Butis she already out of time to reveal the deadly truth?
A pulse-pounding, heart-racing mystery that will have your jaw dropping at the gripping twists. Fans of Lisa Regan, Kendra Elliot and Mary Stone will be glued to the pages.

Rounded up from 3.5. Thanks to the author for a digital ARC. I am reviewing this honestly and voluntarily. This book was very action packed. It was totally different than what I have read in the past. It moved along quickly. I liked the characters a lot. The only thing that brought it down a star was that I haven't read the earlier books in the series, so I was not familiar with the backstory. This is totally my fault and didn't make the book hard to understand. It just would have filled in some blanks for me. I hope to go back and read the earlier books in the series.
Thanks to the author for a digital ARC of this book.
I don't know really what to say about this book... This is one of those that you would have to read for yourself to get the full feel of it. But I can promise that you will not be disappointed in this book by any means! This book will pull you in as if you were a character in it.
Compelling, fascinating, whatever you want in a book to Keep you intrigued. Emma is just wonderful. She’s a Mother on her own and solves mysteries as well. You definitely don’t want to miss this book.
Another absolute winner by Willow Rose. This thriller has you on the edge of your seat from the begining to the surprise ending! Once you begin this book there is no way you can put it down! Emma has just recently broken up with her boyfriend and now can devote her time to her two children, a teenage daughter and a special needs son, Victor. When Skye who Victor actually responds to disappears, and is found clear across the island, what is going on? Why can't Skye remember what happened? When a young boy literally falls into Emma's arms frozen solid from inside out, something weird is going on and when people are freezing and anything they touch gets frozen solid, definitely something is going on and it takes Emma to investigate and get to the bottom of this strange happening before the townfolk get frozen over! With so many twists and turns and red-herrings Willow Rose is so famous for, you are taken on such a roller coaster ride leading you all over the place! This was an amazing thriller done only the way Willow Rose can accomplish. Once you pick up this book there is no stopping you...you will have to read to the end! I receivef and ARC from the author but the opinions expressed here are strictly my own.
Emma Frost has done it again and sorted the world to rights, this novel she has split with her boyfriend Morton as he decided it was for the best so he could devote more time to his daughter who seems to have been hit hard by mental depression so Emma is now back on her own with her 2 children Maya who has just left school and Victor a special needs child well now a teenager, and it can be very frustrating at times for Emma. This time Emma was on her way back home when a man literally fell into her arms but when Emma looked at him he had frostbite and was frozen stiff and although it is cold, not cold enough to freeze, conundrum!! Something weird is going on on the island of Farnoe and it's not good, youngsters are being abducted by aliens or so it seems Emma is hiding another boy and has not seen his mother in a while and Skye who Victor has grown attached to, as the story unfold there is more that meets the eye going on there and the Clinic posh name for the asylum and the Mayor up for re-election all comes to a head. Good read bit eerie in places and just a touch of horror, good night reading.
People on Fanoe island are starting to literally freeze to death. Also Emma is on the search of Skye who was taken 7 months earlier by the men in black. Emma and Morten are still broken up. The mystery to people freezing and once again the sci-fi part of things weren’t bad. I didn’t understand why Emma’s red flag didn’t go up when Victor’s teacher threatens to take Victor away from Emma and admit him full time. Is this the 1950’s?!!! Once again I felt like in the last book as well as this one the sci fi was unnecessary. Everything could have been explained without adding in the otherworldly aspects to it. Assuming this is the end to this series I just don’t like to read about the same person for 13 books and they really never fully get their stuff together. Emma is still really overweight and her relationship is still a hot mess. Side notes....... Nothing with Morten’s daughter is resolved he just doesn’t want to lose Emma. No mention of Jack at all. That made me sad. I really hate when the same name is used like Emma’s ex husband and her lawyer Michael!!!
What is happening on Fanoe Island? People are freezing from the inside out. They are found covered with frostbite. Frozen solid. A person starts feeling cold, everything they touch freezes. Their homes are so cold that nothing can warm them up. Other people living there can't get warm. One night a girl disappears and the next morning is found in a completely different place. She doesn't know how she got there. She can't remember anything. What happens to Victor? Who took Skye? Will they find her? Emma knows she must solve this mystery. Come along with Emma and find out how she goes about this. Twists and turns will keep you turning pages as fast as you can. I voluntarily received a copy of this book from the author and I'm voluntarily posting a review. My opinion is entirely my own.
Finally, Emma gets some closure in her family, but not without some major issues with her children. Losing Victor to an institutional facility where Daniel and Skye came from. Not getting help from her lawyer in helping me get Skye back from Omicon who denies.
Emma journey begins when a man drops in her arms frozen to death. Strange events occur when ppl on the island start getting cold and freezing to death. Then the UFO Group gathers with stranger stories of hearing they aren't aliens but finding out they are human.
Willow clears the mind of what happens to The Mayor (Lisa), who killed ppl that got in her way. She was mental when she was introduced but her roll in this book really put things into a great read. Who would have thought, the ending would be like it was. Great Job Willow.
A young man collapses in Emma's arms, and a young girl disappears only to show up the next day. Fanoe Island can get cold at that time of year, but it doesn't seem possible that it could get so cold that it would freeze a human body solid. OMG! I loved this book. Emma is a mother, she just wants to find her sons friend, but she is drawn into a terrifying mystery, and people are turning up dead.
Fascinating, compelling, wonderfully well written, and realistic characters. Murder, mayhem, and greed. This book has enough twists in the plot to keep you guessing until the very end. I couldn't put it down, and I stayed up way to late reading. Fantastic book, I loved it.
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.
I am definitely a Willow Rose fan! I’ve read over a dozen of her books in several series and have enjoyed each one. This book follows a strange outbreak of people falling prey to freezing to death from the inside out, all happening on Emma Frost’s favorite island. She gets deeply involved when it hits members of her own family. Can she solve the mystery before the island’s population is decimated? Ms. Rose is adept at drawing the reader in, building the suspense to keep him/her glued to the pages, then ending with a fitting finale that answers all the questions. I received an ARC, and purchased a copy on release to support this great author. I am eager to read a lot more of Ms. Rose’s books.
BLACK .FROST.....Willow Rose.. Tanja her coven had five members, meeting in the park for a ritual and to be blessed by the goddess. It seemed a success, then noticed Ingrid was missing Emma has an unusual son, and when a girl fell out of the treetop he named her Skye. They kidnapped her out of her home, was it for experiment in a lab that was close by. Skye was not in the system, even though she hounded her lawyer. It is tearing her son apart she can not give up. Strange things are happening with no reason, here one minute and then in other place, or one being frozen, another completely gone. The pieces are many, even as readers, the author has given us a mystery we can not figure out. A good thriller to read and reread, well done. Given ARC for my voluntary review and my honest opinion
Thank you Willow Rose for an ARC of this book in exchange for my own Honest To goodness Review. I am a fan of Willow Rose and her mysteries but this one is a bit different to me. Perhaps it is a bit too fantasy or supernatural for my taste? I found this book to be a bit weird, eerie, scary & chilling(Ha Ha, frost Black Frost, get it?) What the heck, ones body freezing from the inside out? Never heard of this before and if this is actually possible in real life, don’t know that I want to know - but hey, this is 2020, the year from HELL so who knows. Some people freeze, some turn to liquid, some do harm to others, some disappear. Read to find out the answers to all this & form your own opinion.
I was enjoying Emma Frost until she moved into a supernatural storyline. I didn’t enjoy that at all.
I also found several things she wrote to be quite irritating. For example she incessantly used the word stormed and often used it incorrectly. She frequently used the word buddy to apply not only to dogs but to her son. So also reused names, Per for example. I also found numerous grammatical errors. I grew very tired of heroines with eating disorders, something she used in many of her series. Emma Frost had to be morbidly obese by the end of this series. I got quite ill reading about all the carbs Emma constantly consumed.
I am still a big Willow Rose fan and will continue to read her books, but I hope she will cease some of these habits.
Emma Frost dealing with family issues, walks out of a cafe and a man falls into her arms. Immediately she feels that he is freezing cold and she yells out for help. By the time the police arrive, the man passes away. An autopsy shows that he had frostbite and all of his organs were frozen, which is basically impossible. She immediately begins to think this is the work of someone crazy and she wants to help find him. At the same time, she notices her son is experiencing similar cold symptoms and she worries that he has the same issue. Something is strange is going on in town and she has to help solve the case. However, her life and her kids lives are in grave danger and instead of solving the case, it becomes a matter of trying to stay alive.
with me being a really great fan of this author, I was really looking into a fun and very creepy escape with 'Black Frost' HONKKKKK! Noot!
The book started out pretty original with people randomly and literally FREEZING to death and there was no reason for it. They were almost covered in what looked black mold. Were school kids passing it from one to the other, etc? Hmmmm. Emma Frost walks out of a morning diner and a man literaaly falls into her arms and he is turning transparent bluish black. Dead!
What I thought this was going to be turned out to be the most stupid version of The Brady Bunch does a crossover episode on the Twilight Zone. Cannot recommend this dumb read. Sorry. Skip it.
Another awesome book by Willow Rose. I started reading and could not put it down. We visit Emma Frost and her family, in Fanoe Island. Emma is walking down the street and suddenly a young man. Falls into her arms and dies. He is frozen from the inside out. And so begins the new mystery. Her son Victor's new friend Skye goes missing. Then more people are freezing. So Emma tries to find her son's friend and find out why people are freezing. The book has many twists and turns. You have to keep reading. The end is amazing as only Willow Rose can do. I received this book in exchange for an honest review.
This is the first Frost storybook I have read and, frankly, I should have started with the first book in the series! That being said, the author keeps the reader informed of previous happenings throughout the book. It is a fast paced adventure that left me breathless, but in a good way. When I finished, all the boxes had been checked, all the characters and their peculiarities were explained and I found myself well-pleased with Black Frost. Folks who have read my reviews before know I avoid telling the tale an author does so I much better. I would be hard out to do so for this book. Something new seems to accurately every page. It is well worth the read!
I hadn't read the first two Emma Frost stories but it was easy to catch up. Emma's son Victor had a friend, Skye, who was his life. She disappeared again. But before she left she taught Victor some amazing things. Skye was from another world. Emma's home became very, very cold. The only one not really effected was Victor. Eventually Victor's school took him from Emma and that started her on a mission to solve things. Now the author, Willow Rose's genius starts to shine through. She has twists and turns in her story but she always manages to give us a believable ending. I know if you like Willow Rose's type of story you will definitely enjoy this one.
Loved this book! In a small town on an island, people started freezing to death - from the inside out. Emma Frost is already caring for a child with strange "abilities" and now people-kids- are starting to freeze, including her own son Victor. Doctors at Fishy Pines, a local mental facility, take Victor from her and won't let her see him. Emma tries to put the pieces together on her own. Piece by piece she uncovers clues to the atrocities that are occurring in the town. She races to help the victims before it is too late. This book is full of suspense, right to the end and I recommend it.
I received a free copy in exchange for an honest review.
The worst thing about this book is, I am finished with it. I did not want it to end! You will feel the same way. If you have not read this series, don’t start with this book. You need to start from the first book of the series. I envy all those who have not read the series. You get to have that, first time experience. You will not be disappointed! One of the best things about the book is, the previous 12 books. The stories that bring us to this point simply make this book much more exciting and suspenseful! Willow does an excellent job of weaving together of the characters, their storylines, and the outcome!
This book was amazing. I started it this morning, and just finished it. All of our questions are answered, with so many twists and turns, and the ending made me cry!! I absolutely loved all of the characters. We got to see Maya’s strengths, and we now completely understand Victor. (And his gifts) I was unsure of this series when I started it, but I must admit that I am hooked!!! Emma Frost is a badass. Love her character and all of her quirks! Can’t wait until the next one.
A small island town, a crazy mayor, a crooked company, experimental therapy I think you might say (tongue in cheek) , and disappearing people in the night... there you have a story. Not even close. The plot thickens, powers become evident, unexplained deaths, international intrigue and greed follow. Creatures from another world? It's well written, interesting and forced me to stay up and read the whole thing in one sitting. Pick this up and read. Then know I told you so.
Emma Frost is the central character in Willow Rose's unusual 'what if...?' story, Black Frost, that could be out of X Files.
Abductions are taking place on a remote Nordic island, and you're never quite sure who - or what's - behind them all. There are some very odd changes in the few young victims who've escaped, that spurs Emma's investigation onwards, regardless of the risk. Where does it lead...and to whom?
Spirit yourself away to the bookstore for your copy, to learn what the truth is out there!
Another nail biter of a thriller featuring Emma Frost. Black Frost will keep you on the edge of your seat throughout. I couldn't put it down...... well written with plenty of suspense. Willow Rose is one of my all time favorite authors and she doesn't disappoint no matter the subject, you get an outstanding reading experience. I would highly recommend it. I received this book as an ARC and this is my honest review.
Emma is trying to save a girl, Skye, from those that took her. Skye is one of few people that Emma's son actually communicates with. Then Skye disappears. Strange things start happening, people are freezing to death, from the inside out. What could cause this, and it seems like there is no stopping it. Does it have anything to do with Skye and the people who want her back? Emma is running out of time to solve this mystery. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
Unique storyline and interesting characters make this book hard to put down. Emma is the quintessential mama who fights for her children despite the odds being against her.
Fanoe Island is home to strange happenings and Emma is determined to uncover the truth. As she gets close to the core of the secrets the campaign against her increases until she and her family are in danger from those who have the most to lose.
I received an arc of this book and voluntarily provided a review.
What a worthy read! I will certainly miss Emma, maya, Victor, and Morten. The final book finally answered questions raised back in book six! This one is mostly fantasy, but I came to believe everything I read. If you start this series, please start with the first book, so you can follow the progression. Thank you, Willow Rose!
This is a wonderful addition to this thrilling series! Wonderful well written plot and story line that had me engaged from the start. Love the well fleshed out characters and found them believeable. Great suspense and action with wonderful world building that adds so much to the story. Such a thrilling read that I couldn't put it down. Can't wait to read more of these. Recommend reading.
The book was like being on a merry go round. The faster it goes the more distorted life looks. It was had to keep up with reality and paranormal as the characters were blended into the chapters. Willow Rose has such an ability to create characters from nothing and make them living creatures. Her imagination is endless. I received a copy of this book to review for free and my honest opinion above.
