G Pa found him on the beach when he was walking one day.
It’s fun to hear and fun to say.
You’ll love Cray's friends Fay, Ray and Hay!
A pinchy, pushy crab until an unfortunate accident, Cray's character provides an unexpected role model for all children. Rappin’ and rhymin’, this engaging book teaches children how a good friend should make you feel.
A New Day For Cray is a fun, bright and colourful 18 page picture book by G Pa Rhymes about a crab named Cray. Erica Leigh illustrations are beautiful and wonderfully done and make the story come to life. It is full of unique and colourful characters and the narrative rhymes along. It is a good story with a message for all to learn. Journey along with Cray and his friends as he learns the true meaning of kindness and how you should treat others. Children will love this book just as my grandsons did.
This is the story of a crab named Cray. Cray has a tendency to be a bit of a handful for his friends. It is not until Cray has an accident that Cray begins to see what true friends are like.
I think this is a great one for little kids. Teaches some lessons on kindness and seeing others in a different light. Beautiful illustrations.
Cray (crab) pinched everything he came in contact with. Turtle Fay wasn’t pleased when he pinched her. Ray (Gull) got upset when Cray pinched him. Hay (fox) was next. Cray lost a claw what happened then?

An awesome book cover, great hand-drawn colored pictures, charming illustrations & proper font & writing style. A very professionally written children’s (preschool/elementary age) rhyming crawdad storybook. It was quite easy for me to read/follow from start/finish & never a dull moment. There were no grammar/typo errors, nor any repetitive or out of line sequence sentences. Lots of exciting scenarios, with several twists/turns & a great set of unique characters, settings, etc. to keep track of. This could also make another great children’s educational presentation (crawdad), movie, an animated cartoon, or better yet a mini TV series. There is no doubt in my mind this is an extremely easy rating of 5 stars.

BEAUTIFULLY ILLUSTRATED. This was a new author for me and love the rhyming makes things so much easier for young kids to follow along with and helps in their learning journey of becoming strong independent readers. While I understand the underlying meaning of its better to be friendly than to be a bully the story made it slightly confusing. It took Cray, losing a limb essentially to be nice and stop bullying. He didn’t apologize or anything, just all the other characters came to comfort and support him after to start a new beginning. Now the second meaning that after something bad something good is coming your way I love this, and it is so easy society today, it’s often hard to see an upside or positives out of something bad. I look forward to seeing what adventure little Cray will get into next.
A delightful children's book with lessons to be learned. Friendships are built on kindness and respect. This can sometimes be a hard lesson to learn. But this story is a great tool for helping our little ones. Pushing and pinching can hurt, but teaching our children what feels better will be found in this charming series. This author impressed me with this story. I love well written children's books. This has it all. Including opening a conversation with our children. This is a must have for your childrens bookshelves.
This is a very cute story about a crab who is very playful, bullies and pinches his friends. The story conveys a strong message to the kids not to bully others and it is the kindness which is the basic foundation of friendship. The illustrations are very beautiful and characters are adorable. I loved all the characters, the crab, Gull, tortoise, fox. I overall enjoyed the book.
I read A New Day for Cray with my seven year old daughter and she absolutely loved it. I thought that Cray was adorable and loved the bright illustrations. I am a fan of reading books that rhyme as they often roll right off the tongue. A New Day for Cray was a short, fun way to teach a lesson about kindness.
Cute children’s book! Totally written in easy rhymes that children will find fun if they are self-readers or having it read to them. With a nice message about being kind it’s a meaningful short book. With really nice illustrations and cute characters kids will revel in this little gem.
This was a great read for my little and I. I love that it rhymed (keeps the kiddo interested) and it had a great teachable lesson, to always be kind or "karma" finds a way to you. All of Cray's friends were tired of being pinched, but when Cray loses his "pinching" claw, they still showed him kindness and true friendship. The characters are cute and illustrations are great. Will definitely read more from this story line and author.
I love finding new childrens books to read to my daughters. We take story time before bed very seriously! So when we read this book, it was a huge hit. The rhyming made it flow very nice and my girls wanted to read it one more time right after we finished. Will definitely be added to regular books we like to read! Super cute!
This children’s book was so much fun to read! It is a great choice for little ones who are just learning to read and need to learn those rhyming words. Lovely illustrations with a thread of warm friendship throughout. You won’t be disappointed.
My 3 year old loved A New Day for Cray! It was such a good book! I love that this book teaches kids to play fair! That is a super big thing for 3 year olds to learn especially while they’re young!
A beautiful story that will help kids to understand both the consequences of bullying and the importance of forgiveness and friendship. The rhythm of the story flows well and keeps it simple for younger kids whilst also getting the point across. Would be great to read with an early childhood class.
A New Day for Cray is a Children's Book written by the author G Pa Rhymes and illustrated by Erica Leigh. It is a story of a crab named Cray. He love to tease and pinch other creatures every day.
One day an unfortunate accident happened and Cray lost his pinching claw. But his friends assured him that "When Bad things happen, good things will come your way". Read the entire story yourself to know what will happen further.
Narration of the story is simple and choice of colours in illustrations is amazing. This story gives a strong message to kids not to bully others. This is an amazing story of Cray and I recommend it to other kids.
Cray was a silly crab that used to like to pinch his friends. But no one likes to be pinched. One day Cray can no longer pinch and he realizes it’s more fun to be kind to your friends.
This book is too adorable. The are work is fantastic. The story show what true friends will do. A lot of children will live this book. Highly recommend it
5/5 Stars This is such a cute story about friendship. I loved the illustrations and the fact they weren’t overstimulating. They reminded me of the tv show Puffin Rock and Trash Truck. The story has a solid lesson. It’s not too complicated for toddlers which I appreciate!
I loved the illustrations in this book, the late sunset and seashells were my favorite pages. The story is great and teaches kids a good lesson, especially not waiting for something bad to happen to you before finally being kind to others. I don’t know other parents who have a pinching problem but I have met some who have kids to who like to bite and hit, I think this will be a great book for them as it shows all of Cray’s friends leaving him because they don’t like the pinching. I even like that the author included Fox telling Cray he doesn’t like him playing that way. The book is short and filled with rhymes that will help keep the attention of young children. Definitely a good book for teachers to read with young children.
A New Day for Cray is a fun little kid's book by Pa Rhymes. This book follows a crabby crab named Cray that likes to pinch and bully. After Cray is confronted by his friends he has an accident and learns what friendship means. This was a sweet book. It has beautiful illustrations and easy-to-understand lessons for kids. The way Cray’s friends confront Cray is a great way to show children boundaries and what to do if being bullied. The way Cray’s friends are there for him when he has trouble despite his earlier behavior shows the true meaning of forgiveness and friendship. I highly recommend this story.
A New Day for Cray is part of the The Adventures of Cray on the Bay Series that is geared more toward audiences of 3-7 years of age, but you can enjoy this book even if you are young at heart. This story of Cray the Crab teaches us about bullying, kindness and what true friendship means. When Cray the Crab goes about pinching his way....Cray the Crab learns that he does not have to pinch all of his friends. Cray's friends Fay, Ray, and Hay show Cray about what true friendship means.
What a truly wonderful story. I loved the rhyming, the message behind the book and the illustrations are very beautifully done and full of color and very engaging. My great nieces, great nephew and I look forward to other Cray Adventures!! I highly recommend this book...it was fantastic.
This book is such a fun and entertaining story and a really great way of teaching children the important of kindness. The way the author has written this book is so engaging and captivated both of my kids right from the word go. The rhymes were well thought out and catchy and the pictures in the book made it come alive. As a parent, I loved the premise of this book. Teaching kids how to be kind can be so difficult, yet this book discussed the topic with ease. We will definitely be reading this book again, and any more from this author.
First off, the illustrations of this book are beautiful. This book is a great way to show how bullying impacts others. It also shows how forgiving friends can be. If we can somehow let go of the very emotion or mechanism that enables us to bully, it can make the world a much better place.
I absolutely loved this lovely story about friendship for the young and older alike! Cray has a bad habit of pinching and teasing his friends, but his friends do not like this and teach him about what it means to be a good friend. This is a fun story with colourful illustrations. Highly recommended!
Cray is a crabby crab until one day an (un)fortunate accident occurs. Cray is all of a sudden not so crabby and Ray, Hay, and Fay enjoy their friendship even more!
Super cute book that is full of rhymes. A great lap book for grandparents or parents with their littles! Very colorful and engaging illustrations as well!
This is a beautifully illustrated book! The rhyming story is wonderful and teaches about kindness and friendship. It's great for young readers learning to read.
This was a really good children’s book. A crab, named Cray, likes to pinch his friends or really anybody on his path. His friends really did not like when he would pinch them. One day Cray had an accident. All his friends came together to show their support for him.
