“My company invented the world’s first male contraceptive pill, But now I discover that it may not be 100% effective. And the woman I spent the night with? 100% pregnant!”
Lucas Gainsborough has a lot to be happy about; as the billionaire CEO of a pharmaceutical company, he’s confident his new male contraceptive pill will change the world. And what better way to celebrate than with the gorgeous American woman he meets by chance?
On a dream getaway to Rome, Elise Johnson can’t believe her luck when a chivalrous and temptingly handsome stranger recovers her bag from a pickpocket. At first it seems as though one beautiful, romantic night together is all fate has in store for them—but in this case, one night is all it takes.
Elise has barely gotten home when she discovers that Lucas’s so-called wonder-drug may not be as effective as he claimed. She’s pregnant, and Lucas is the father!
With his company’s reputation at stake, Lucas faces a stark choice: cover up the pregnancy before it can become a scandal, or stand by the woman with whom he shared that fateful night in Rome.
But the biggest surprise is yet to come. There’s not just one baby, but three!
Damn. I give up. I can't read this anymore. It's not just the title that sucks, apparently it's the whole package. The plot could have been good but it was unfortunately poorly written. The scenes were badly executed. Every time the characters talk I can't help but cringe. Zero chemistry for the MCs. Awful way to portray the surprise baby trope.
Oh hell, I'm quite confident I have bigger balls than Lucas. Ugh.
This is just so terrible it makes me sad. I. JUST. CANT.
2nd attempt to read surprise baby trope and I end up DNF'ing it again. UGHHHH.
Elise has saved her money since college 10 years to have a vacation in Rome. One day leaving her favorite coffee shop a man snatches her purse right off her shoulder.
Lucas Gainsborough is in Rome for Pharmaceutical Convention. He is the Billionaire CEO and his company is ready to release the first Male Contraceptive pill. He catches the man who stole Elise Purse. They get to talking and decide to have dinner that night. Two Americans in Rome.
Well we know what happens they have sex. This is very Clean story. You just are told they had sex. No descriptions of the sexual act are anywhere in this story. So that was a little boring.
Elise finds out she is pregnant and decides to try and find Lucas. She discovers him when she is waiting to be interviewed at his company. She tells him she is pregnant and things do not go well. She tried to get him to take her somewhere private to talk but he keep refusing. She spells out her pregnancy news right in front of his share holders board. The board is livid because Lucas has been taking the male contraceptive pill and Elise is pregnant. Lucas finds out that his share holder have been lying to him and that others in the study had reported there partners had become pregnant.
This was a very interesting, fast moving story. With lovable characters and a Mean Broad of Directors. Lucas's parents were indifferent and cold people. Elise parents were loving and compassionate.
I really enjoyed what Lucas gave up to be father too his triplets. I like that Elise never pushed him. She was a strong women who was determine to go it alone with the support of her parents.
My only problem is Elise is 31 and at times seems a little immature. Like when her apartment was broken to she didn't know what to do. Girl You Call the Police!! But she calls her parents. I had a problem with the lack of romance and even the lack of sex. But the story was interesting anyway. I read it in one setting.
Elise came back from her trip to Rome with more than just memories of the city & her wonderful night with Lucas. When she found out she was pregnant she wanted to tell him but as the number he'd left her was wrong she took to searching online but no luck until one day as a job interview she saw him only to find out he was the CEO of the pharmaceutical company & not a sales rep, she tried to get to talk to him but was told no. The next day she went back to speak to him but he was shocked to see her annoyed that she'd never called him so was a bit off hand with her whrn she asked to speak to him privately which he refused so she ended up telling him about the baby in front of everyone in his board room, he was cold to her & so was the board members who called her hold digger & said horrible things to her Lucas called them out on a few things but did not stand up for her & be happy about the baby & told her to leave the building which really upset her but she refused to let him see, the board were furious with Lucas getting Elise pregnant but this then brought up the fact the male contraceptive pill they were trialling was a failure so should be sent back for testing but they refused & also informed him it had failed on two other trials.but not happy with this thet but him on leave from the company which resulted in various reason being made up by the press. Weeks later when he met up with Elise telling her he coldly, matter of fact he wanted nothing to do with the baby she was shicked that he chose his company over his child & that she didn't want anything from him. Weeks later after a conversation with his dad telling him how disappointed he was with him Lucas finally realised what was really important to him & went into the board meeting at the head office unannounced basically telling the members they could shove their job & quit then went back to Elise hoping she could forgive him & let him make it right, I wanted them to be a big happy family but I also wanted to slap him for the way he'd treated her but she she also shocked him by telling him he was going to be dad to triplets. I couldn't stop reading this book it was lovely but also had emotional parts aswell.

Plot: Lucas runs a company that has developed a male birth control pill. On vacation, Lucas meets Elise and they share a good time together. They should be okay because on birth control, right? Turns out it's not as effective as he thought and now the company's about to be dropped into a scandal.
Commentary: This was a jerk of a hero that I don't think got a whole lot better. It was almost a case of the shoe being on the other foot. Normally, a woman is responsible for birth control pills, and when they failed, it's "what did you do wrong?" In this case, Lucas was the one who messed up (kind of - he thought he had a good product but what he had was a sneaky unethical board). Regardless, he messed things up for himself when he couldn't even be nice enough to listen to Elise and she had to (?) tell him her news out loud in front of everyone (I'll say that my first course of action would have been to write him a note at that point and pass it to him - I bet he would have taken her into his office for a quick chat then!). And then his reactions after that weren't so great either. I hate when the woman is pregnant and the guy acts like it's either a burden or a big secret. Buddy, I don't know how you'll keep three babies a secret, but hahaha.
Grammar/formatting: The dialogue tags could use some work - there's not a lot of variety
I really loved this book from start to finish and the characters where amazing. Elise has worked hard and saved her money for 10yrs because she wanted to go to Rome and now it’s finally happening. Once there she was out every day taking in the sites and exploring the little shops and cafes and on such a day her handbag is stolen from her and she gives chase but looses him in the side streets but just when she thinks it’s all lost a gorgeous man hands her her purse back and than asks her out to dinner and she is surprised but answers yes. Lucas has never done anything like this before but there was something about her that drew him in. Everything about there dinner date was amazing and neither of them wanted it to end and the sparks that sizzle around them was so hot that it lead to an even better end to there evening. Now finally home all is not well her flat was broken into and she lost her job and has now moved back home with her parents and to top it all off she is pregnant and has no way of telling Lucas. What happens next between them you’ll have to get this book to find out you won’t be disappointed.

Elise travelled to Rome on a long vacation and me Lucas, a fellow American, when he returned her purse that had been stolen. They had dinner and spent the night together but he left the next morning. She tried to contact him with the number he left but it didn’t work. When she got back home she ended up moving back with her parents and was looking for a new job when she discovered she was pregnant. Lucas had told her he was taking a new men’s daily birth control pill and it turned out he was CEO of the company that was about to release the pill. Due to unfortunate circumstances Elise sees Lucas at the company where she is applying for a job and tells him she is pregnant. His board of directors force him to take a leave of absence and demand he have nothing to do with Elise or her baby because it would show that their male contraceptive didn’t work. Will Lucas follow their demands and leave Elise on her own? Is his company more important than his children?
This story was well written and I enjoyed the story overall. Lucas was not presented as very likable and I was a little surprised by the ending.
Oh boy, a male contraceptive pill. Lucas CEO of a pharmaceutical company was a test subject. Elise is in Italy when her purse is stolen only to be returned by a handsome fellow American named Lucas. One dinner then some intimate getting to you later and bam a one night stand in Italy Back in the states both Lucas and Elise go on living their separate lives. Luca's pill is about to go public. Elise is having a bit more trouble getting in with her life. She is a magnet for thieves. While on an interview she she's Lucas, by this time she could have brought his whole company down because their contraceptive pill? Not one hundred percent since she was a walking incubator. Yup preggo. But they don't have a happy reunion because Luca's board members give him a heartbreaking order. This book is not a couple finding their happily ever after by spending time together no these two are separated most of the book. Lucas is a jerk for leaving her to deal with het pregnancy alone

The Billionaire's Troublesome Triplets is the first book in the new Babies and Billions series by Holly Rayner. It is the story of Elise and Lucas. They are both in Rome, Italy when they meet, as he returns her purse which has been stolen. They spend a very hot and steamy night together with Lucas leaving the next morning but not before he gives her his phone number. When she tries to call it it does not go through. Upon her return to the states she learns she is pregnant a few weeks later. As Lucas had told her he was testing a new male birth control pill that his company has developed. It seems it is not foolproof. Now what does she do? Well get a job of course and who should she run into again.........Lucas, as he is the CEO of a company she is applying to. Will she tell Lucas she is pregnant? What will happen for the drug his company has developed? When he is forced to choose will he choose Elise and the babies or his company and money?
I received a copy of this book for my honest review. My opinions are all my own.
When Elise has her bag snatched when she’s on holiday in Rome, she doesn’t expect a gorgeous stranger to come to her rescue. He’s a fellow American and they enjoy a romantic evening, no strings attached. However when Elise discovers that she’s pregnant a few weeks later, she can’t let him know as the number he left her doesn’t work. Lucas is the CEO of a pharmaceutical company on the verge of releasing the first male pill. When he runs into Elise when she’s at a job interview, finding out a product that you are just about to launch doesn’t work in their favour when the board overhear their conversation. This was a really enjoyable read from beginning to end. The characters are likeable, apart from the board members ;-) Elise and Lucas have a great chemistry when they’re on the same page but the fact that she’s laid back about things when they’re not makes her an even better leading lady. Loved it.

I liked this book but I also had some pet peeves with it. I thought the story was was a bit cute and fun, with a healthy dose of emotion and a major shot of implausible (at least I certainly hope so!). I liked Elise a lot and I felt for her for multiple reasons. Lucas inspired a mixed bag of feelings in me. I wanted so badly to straight up like him because had charm, good looks and acted heroically. On the other hand, the plot of this book caused me to think that he was too cavalier, maybe not such a good guy and definitely not the brightest pebble on the beach. All of that though is simply my opinion. This is one of those reads that I feel the more reality you can suspend going in the better. This will let you embrace the good and ignore the bad. I did not read this book with that mindset and that was 100% my mistake because it greatly impacted my enjoyment of this book. This is my freely posted, candid review.
Awe!! Loved Elise. Elise goes on a trip to Rome with money she has saved up for ten years. While there she meets Lucas has a one night stand and a week later goes back to the US. She lives in New Mexico and he lives in Massachusetts so they really can’t have a long distance relationship. But then she finds out she’s pregnant and has no way of getting a hold of him. That is until she goes on an interview and see him there. He’s the CEO. But when she tells him about her pregnancy nothing goes right. He is cold and distant, and she is forced to go before the investors of his company. Because she got pregnant when he was taking a new male contraceptive pill that is due out on the market. But what if the pill is flawed? I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review

Well done! Elise saved up to a trip to Rome for 10 years. Her Mom and Dad were parentally worried/concerned/cautious/supportive and wished her well. She went alone, but she was content and lived her dream. She had an unfortunate incident and met fellow American, Lucas. They were at ease, spent some time together and got intimate. They went their seperate ways. When Elise returned to Albuquerque, she was hit with a triple whammy of bad luck. The flow of the story was well organized. Elise and Lucas handled their individual conflicts, not very well, and with little grace. Can Elise and Lucas get on the same page? Does their luck get better? Excellent story. Lotsa growth. I like this best of all Ms Rayner's stories I've read so far. I received this ARC from Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Elise and Lucas.... What an odd pair that ended up with an oddly perfect life together. Family is what you make of it and Elise and Lucas did just that. He had no real family, no real love and she brought those things to his life.
It could have been a bitter tale of a man brought up with no love, incapable of really loving or having empathy. I'm not sure you can learn it if it is introduced to your life later in life but this story made me feel hopeful that if it is possible, that it could happen. Mirroring compassion, empathy, love, partnership, and sacrifice/service for others are things we are sorely missing in our world. And yet, like with Elise and Lucas' lives, it's the only thing that matters and the only thing that makes life worth living.
I think this was my first Holly Rayner book and I will definitely read the other 2 books in this series.
Loved this! Elise has been saving for ten years to go to Rome. She traveled by herself which her parents were against. She was walking when someone snatched her purse. It contained her important documents. She tries to go after him but no luck. She shouted for help. The gorgeous man returns he bag. The thief took her cash and she was able to get her bag with everything in it.This man offered to take her to dinner. They had a good meal great conversation which led Elise to invite to the apartment she was renting. They spent the night together. When she woke he was gone.?She found a note he wrote. Lucas is the CEO of Quadra-Well. His company is making the first male birth control. He was taken with the test subjects. This book is a worldwind of ups and downs. Disappointments and promises. Definitely recommend this. Great book
Elise and Lucas met in Rome while he was there for business and she was there for a vacation she had long been saving for. After a night of sexual bliss, they part and because of a misunderstanding the thought she would never see him again. When their paths intersect again, she’s ready to tell him exactly how his she feels about him leaving her after their one night sexual encounter. She’s got one more surprise for him too, one that he wasn’t expecting to hear about in front of his business investors. I found the storyline about a male contraceptive a little unbelievable and the main characters’s chemistry a little lacking. I was lost when there was so much time devoted to rehashing conflicts he has had with his father over the years, which filled far too many chapters in my opinion.
Wow a really new twist for a story plot, a male contraceptive that was ready to hit the market. One of the test subjects was the CEO, Lucas, but there was a problem the contraceptive was only eighty-five percent effective. Lucas had a one night stand with Elise in Rome, Italy resulting in her getting pregnant.
The pace of this book moved rather quickly, as it changed from scene to scene of where the story was located. Most of the time Lucas and Elise were in two different places living their own lives. They communicated very little. They each had to decide what they wanted. This was a most enjoyable book with several twists and turns as well as few surprises a long the way

The Billionaire's Troublesome Triplets (Babies and Billions Book 1)
Talk about a problem, that's what Elise got when she met a great guy and she followed her heart, for one night. Just that one night, it was great, it was wonderful but they both knew that , come the morning and they would go their separate ways. Except for the fact that she couldn't quite forget him. That was when her life fell apart, she lost everything. Starting over , find a new job, a new place to live, but, cats wasn't through with her yet. How could she know that the company that she had an appointment at for a new job, would just happen to be , His. Surprise, Surprise, Surprise! Yeah, they were headed his way, he just didn't have a clue what fate had in store for him! 👍GREAT READ!!!!👍👍
I enjoyed the writing, I love the surprise pregnancy trope and how the main characters need to work through their issues, and boy did these pair have issues. It seems like a part of the book had been cut down, because between Elise finding out about the pregnancy and tracking Lucas down to let him know, and they finally working their issues regarding the babies, they jumped six months, with Avapro absolutely no on page romantic relationship. It was told, very briefly that they drew closer for a handful of months before the babies were born, and it was so unsatisfying, because as a reader, I didn't see what they went through. I believe this author missed a great opportunity by skipping that time.

Elise was living in Italy she liked it so much that she didn’t want to leave even though she was only there for two weeks Her family was not happy that she was traveling by herself. She love where she was staying she could walk to the small cafe. Lucas and Elise went to dinner and she took him back to her apartment. Elise gets home to find her apartment had been broken into and she lost her job how could it get any worse. Well, it did and there was nothing she could do about it excess try to find Lucas. Twists and turns make this an exciting book
Elise went to Rome on her very first international vacation. Her parents tired in vain to talk her out of going alone but she went anyways. She was having a good time until someone tired to rob her of her purse. Lucas ends up bring Elise her purse back. Elise was so happy she agreed to go to dinner with Lucas. Lucas felt bad that he had lied to Elise about who he really was. They had one passionate night together. Then went they're separate ways never thinking that one another would see each other again. I enjoyed reading this book. I loved the storyline and plot. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and I am voluntarily leaving a review.
This was such a great book. I really enjoyed reading it. When Elise Johnson saved all her money to go on a trip to Rome she never would have believed what she brought back with her. Three babies in her stomach as a result of faulty contraception. Lucas is the CEO of a company that was doing experimenting on male contraception. It is just like a woman taking the pill, the man takes it. Lucas would do anything to save his company even denying his involvement of the kids. Will they get together and raise the three babies or will she have to raise them with her parents help?

I tried so hard to give this book a chance. The writing was lacking... Not horrible, but lacking sophistication. I decided to give it a chance anyway, and kept reading.
Many behaviors and statements were just ridiculous. I mean, come on, (just one example) who doesn't know to dial 1 first when calling in the USA, whether international or not? I decided to still give it a chance and kept reading.
The plot is poorly executed. Not a horrible concept, just felt like the author made up how they thought things worked in the business world instead of actually researching. By this point I'd given too many chances and was done.
I found this story a little lacking in the relationship’s department between lead characters. I feel like we had more insight of the parents-daughter relationship than the H-h one. I feel bad to say this but it didn’t work for me at all, the beginning was promising but going forward I couldn’t connect with neither of the characters even if some parts of it could have been good. I give it 3* and here’s a phrase I loved:
“If you want to make God laugh, make a plan”
Well, God must be full of wrinkles by now. Considering he must have been laughing at us all since last year at least. Damned covid 09/11/2020
This book was just okay for me. I felt like I was reading a bad Hallmark movie. Not the ones so bad and cheesy that you actually look forward to each year.... the ones that they play over and over again as filler till your crying into your hot cocoa . Everything was just okay. The characters, the plot, the bedroom scenes, the chemistry all just okay. It wasn’t bad but it wasn’t good either. I might try another Book by this author (honestly I think I have and rated it a 3 also) but I more than likely will not continue this series.
Elise has saved for 10 years for a trip to Rome. Whilst there she meets Lucas, CEO of pharmaceutical company, who’s trialing a male contraceptive pill. They have a one night stand and he leaves before she gets up and leaves his number.
Elise tries to ring, without dialing the area code, low and behold it doesn’t work. Then things go downhill from there. She returns home, her flat had been broken into, she’d lost her job and found out she’s pregnant.
She then accidentally finds Lucas at one of his company’s and sets out to meet him to tell him the news.
It goes further downhill from here. Lucas is a limp lettuce and Elise bored me.
I was glad to finish the book and even the HEA didn’t redeem it.
