"How about 'sources close to the Minister?'"

This book is a trenchant tour through the strange world of the "Lobby correspondents" and their "Whitehall sources", for everyone who had wondered what these creatures were. And how the "fearless press" kowtows to the inside briefing system. Although a disproportionate amount of the text is devoted to Thatcher-baiting, the authors admit that all governments have acted this way.
Incidentally, their excoriation of Lady Thatcher includes the note that the Think Tank had come up with the idea of "the introduction of compulsory private health insurance as a way of 'privatising' the National Health Service." Now, does that sound like anything else I have been reading about lately?
