Blake Allwood was born in west TN, then moved to Kansas City MO after attending college in Lamoni, Iowa. He met his husband in 1995 and they officially married in 2015, once gay marriage was legalized. In 2017, he and his husband sold their home, purchased an RV and began traveling the country with their two dogs. Their travels provide the inspiration and settings for many of his novels.

Typically, Blake can be found relaxing in the RV or by the fire with his laptop and their Jack Russell Terrier, Buddy, curled up between his legs demanding attention. Denver, their Siberian Husky mix is often asleep at his feet or playing tug of war with Blake’s husband.

Aiden Inspired (Apr 2019) is his first published novel, featuring two disparate characters from New York and Washington State who meet and develop an unlikely bond. His second novel, Suzie Empowered (Feb 2020), is a followup featuring Aiden’s sister Suzie as she overcomes her fear of relationships with straight men due to a sexual assault in high school. In March, Blake returned to gay romance with his release of Bobby Transformed about an Iowa farm boy and a big city publisher. His first three novels share characters and can be read in order or randomly.

Author:
After reading two more books of this author I believe I can honestly say that he is going on my future must read list. I've just finished the third book in a row (only one book interruption) by this author, and they are all five stars reads.

Story:
If you liked the first story in this series, you are so going to love this one. It's like a continuation of the story but with other main characters as well as a completely different story that will surprise you on so many levels. I completely fell in love with it from the first moment. I'm not going to say I'm not a fan of sequels, because that would be a lie, but I do believe that the author has to be extremely carefull not just to copy the storyline from the first book on the the following in the series. Blake Allwood mastered creation this book to perfection.

Main characters:
While we do revisit a few characters from the first book, one of them (or maybe two) ends up taking a leading role in this book. You may resent Peters mom in the first book, but you'll get to know her from a whole different prespective and I fell a little bit in love with her, even if I found her to be a completely bitch in the first book and just wanted to strangle her. There really isn't much to say about the others only that they are amazing. Also while you may resent Peter (Martin's ex) I believe you'll fall in love with him as well.

Story:
Let there be no doubt that Blake Allwood has a way with words and the ability to create beautiful stories that will hold you captured. This one is no exception, it has every thing I love. Fun, love a bit of sex (not too much), hold your breath moments and happiness. What more can you wish for in a book, I really don't know. I really hope and prey that there will be a third book, I'll keep waiting for it.

Finally it is Peter's turn to find romance after his previous debarcle. Poor Trevor was thrown into fatherhood when his ex decided to give him their son to raise alone. The relationship between Trevor and Peter is amazing and I really enjoyed the continuation of the story.
I highly recommend this series.

It was great to see Peter get his own HEA after reading about his heartbreak in the first book in the series. This stand-alone book had a some really unexpected twists which kept me immersed. It was also full of passion, family, and the love of Peter and Trevor along with Trevor's baby. I've already downloaded the next book in the series.

This was my first time reading Blake Allwood but it will not be my last! The story flowed really well. Trevor and Peter are just honestly great guys and I enjoyed their love story! Just enough angst and humor. Can’t wait to read more!

I really enjoyed this contemporary mm romance. There was drama, suspense, humor, and a sweet love story. Finding love in many forms is a great theme here.

Young dad meets older architect. Trevor learns he fathered a baby after a drunken night with his best friend. Now raising Luka with the help of his Aunt, Trevor meets architect Peter Reed. The relationship is slow going as both men are kept busy with work and Trevor has Luka.

I did love the cautiousness Trevor had when it came to anyone being near Luka. The writing style was different but I can’t put my finger on why. I was shocked by the events that took place around 70%. Overall, I enjoyed this story.

This was such a sweet read in regards to the relationship that developed between new dad Trevor and Peter. I really loved the chemistry and connection between these two guys who were both lovely. Trevor's family on the other hand were a very nasty element that proved to be a threat to Trevor and Peter's future and the future of Trevor's child. I loved the way Trevor stepped up and took on the responsibility of his child that he had no idea existed before he was dumped on him. He was so out of his depth, but he totally grabbed hold of his new role and did the best he could. Trevor and Peter's romance was really lovely and I enjoy seeing them pop into the next books in the series.

Wow, what an exciting book! This is the second book of this series, and should definitely be read in order for the full effect. We learn so much about Peter in this book that we had no idea about in book 1. There's are surprises throughout the book that keep you on your toes. An excellent & exciting read!

A Fine Line Between Love and Hate

Religion and dysfunctional families face off against love and trust in this highly charged romantic/mystery.

Homophobia plays a large role in this HEA.

Prepare to stay up late to finish!

Mixed Emotions

Structurally this is a well written storyline, but some of the logistics seem a bit far-fetched and over dramatical. Good character development for the primary players, though some of the secondary cast would benefit from better development. An interesting romance, with solid bones and a rather extreme denouement. Fortunately the book ends with a positive promise for the future.

just okay

I found it a bit simplistic and cookie cutter, but had a happy ending and decent story.
Characters were developed decently but plausibility of the storyline was questionable and quantity of interactions between the two romantic characters was really minuscule before they decided to move in together.

Plenty of action in this book.

This book held me reading every time I picked it up. It was a little slow at first, but it picked up quickly. Even though Trevor and Peter are the main characters, many others bring interest to this story. There is also suspense in this book. I can't give too much more to this review but the book is a very good read.

Some tugging on the heartstrings, some overbearing mothers, and conservative relatives lead to a feel-good story with medium angst that ends with a HEA. A warm read that is well worth the time.

I did not care for the author's writing style. Kind of a goofy instant love story with some odd supporting characters. The kidnapping added some excitement.

My Recommendation: This is another middle-of-the-road MM romance. It's not extraordinary and it's not bad, it's a nice easy read with a couple of decent sex scenes and characters you enjoy when you're with them but won't necessarily remember a week after. All I see is potential, but until Allwood works with a better editing team he's going to stay mediocre.

My Response: I kept going with Allwood's books because I wasn't totally put off by the less-than-stellar copy editing and I had nothing more pressing to read. Plus start a series = finish a series :-D

Surprisingly, I enjoyed this one more than I enjoyed the first book in Allwood's Chances series,  Love by Chance . This is surprising because he veered very close to over-complicating things with the mystery/thriller addition again, but somehow managed to bring it back with some great minor characters who had their own plot lines but really supported the overall plot.
