Slivering Curse

Rate this book
A Fayte Guardian hero.
An ancient evil.
Deadly secrets that won't stay buried.

After rescuing Queen Victoria from a dark fae, Jane has settled comfortably into her new life as a Fayte Guardian, working as a maid in the royal kitchen while standing ready to protect the sovereign from any worldly—and otherworldly—threats. She finally has friends, a purpose, and a promising romance. But when she visits Balmoral Castle in Scotland’s misty hills, she discovers the battle she thought she won isn’t over at all.

Something evil lurks in the heart of the Fayte stronghold, and when she investigates, she’s drawn into a conspiracy that threatens everyone and everything she holds dear. Left wounded and on the run, she doesn’t know who she can trust—old friends, new friends, even her peculiar dragonfly friend.

To find the strength to fight an enemy that knows her better than she knows herself, Jane must master new supernatural powers and dig into the past she can’t remember for answers to questions she doesn’t want to face.

Can Jane defeat the Fayte Guardians’ most dangerous foe before he destroys her, the Queen, and the Order itself?

Jane is back and she has more secrets! She, Marlie, and Lucas have traveled to Balmoral Castle. She’s making some friends and some enemies and finding out other people have secrets too. And along the way, trying to figure out who the good guys are and who the bad guys are. D.D. does a great job of painting word pictures again – the amazing Fayte Hall, the little cottage in the woods, the ancient artifacts, and the Gray Woods. I went from cheering Jane on to wanting to smack some sense into her and back again… but I don’t want to give anything away. Get Slivering Curse now. It’s a great read! Full disclosure… I did receive this as an advanced reader copy.

Jane is back and feeling great with her new life and enjoying her win from the last book. Then she ends up traveling to Balmoral Castle with her friends. And of course things go wrong and she must fight to save the day again. More secrets were revealed and I loved the suspense and mystery as I was glued to the story to see how it would end and how Jane would save the day this time. Just a great read that catches the imagination and kept me glued to the end.

D D Croix has captured the magic and intrigue of the Victorian Era. Jane and all her friends, now in Balmoral Castle, are off on another adventure. So much intrigue! And I loved Mrs. Bellington's little cottage in the woods. I had never heard of a "Slivering Ceremony" .... now I have and it definitely fits in the Victorian Era. Slivering Curse is definitely a must read! I was SO looking forward to the sequel to Dragonfly Maid! Now, I'm looking forward to the next sequel! This could go on, and on....

Creative magical adventures

Well written, fantasty with some suspense thrown in. characters are great: bad guys and gals are truly villainous! main characters manage to achieve some heroism. Creative magic. What's a 'slivering'? Have to read the book to find out. Welcome distraction

After reading the first book I could not wait to read this. What is slivering? I had no idea but I found out! Jane is my favorite kind of heroine, bold, impetuous, passionate. I'm loving this trilogy.

Starts slow, but well worth the build up.

For my clean readers: some violence. Pretty clean book.
