The Cubi #8

Unseen Beauty

Rate this book
So much has happened so fast, and the bloody climax seems to have left the world stunned by a gasp. Silence follows, and Daniel’s shocked system is left in a perpetual state of preparedness for when the monumental changes ahead for his people will toss another curveball.

But life slowly goes on in his House, and the calmness leaves Daniel to appreciate and discover the many facets of being a King that he hadn’t been able to focus on while waging a war.

It allows Daniel to think about the future. To see possibilities for not only his people but opportunities with his shared nations.

Change brings more change, and Seldon is hit hard by baby fever as he helps establish peace for cubs to grow up safely in. His sudden focus on children helps him distract the young King, as he scrambles to find his footing with peacetime. It helps the boy relax a bit and focus on the ones he’s building a future for. But Seldon doesn’t have time to look for a mate. Firstly, his young lover isn’t ready, and secondly, Seldon has a lot of work ahead of him as his position and duties in the House of Beaudon are about to change again.

Provocative. Lavish. Sexually Explicit.

Reviewed on July 20, 2020

To me, evidence of how good is a series that be books , TV or movies it's when the world built around it continues to grow, gets richer , layered , keeps fresh, brings new aspects to the storyline with every new book , episode and movie.

Where the author let the characters grow , evolve . Where there is narrative continuity. Where in each new addition we are introduced to new subplots and at same time have resolutions for some of the older ones.

Unseen Beauty it's the perfect example of it. A very entertaining story , with captivating characters and strong back story.

Books must be read on chronological order to make sense. Unseen Beauty, book 8 , isn't a standalone.

This is the eighth book in the Cubi Series, and let me tell you right now, the story is still as fresh and intriguing and of course hot.
As with each of the previous books we join Nol Beaudon (Danial) and his council as they navigate the young Kingdom through the start of change and hopefully a path to lasting peace and co-existence with the humans.
This story is about cultures learning to live together in a time of peace. There is some heart-warming joy as Danial calls upon the cubs and human kids to show us Adults how to live together.
I love the mix of positives and negatives that the Author shows us from both the Cubi and the human nations. Thinks like Danial bringing the disfigured wounded cubi out of hiding and teaching his people that beauty is not just on the outside. How a little girl connects with one of the injured guards and teaches us how we all should act.
Seldon’s urge to have a baby was cute and heartwarming. But the best part of the book has to be the friendly rivalry between Danial the young king and Elakdon the old Viking king. I love the way the two kings work together neither one above the other, even though Elakdon has hundreds of years on Danial, yet he often seeks Danial’s youthful wisdom as Daniel seeks his wisdom of age.
I really like Leon who is fully embracing the Cubi culture. The First lady of the US is also more open minded then her husband, even though he is heading in the right direction I think his wife is the key to his progress.
After the recent upheaval that Danial’s people have endured, it is nice to see them have a little peace and fun. It also allows us to learn even more about the Cubi people and culture. I personally found that I learned so much in this book that really builds on what we have learned in the previous books in the series.
As usual we see many of the characters from all the previous books, join in the fun and celebrations, and planning for their shared futures.

This is a very interesting series. As Daniel's story continued, confrontations, intrigue, violence and more, kept me glued to this amazing book until I finished reading it. When you add to the great backstory and complex world the author created in the series, the growing relationship of Daniel with Caledon and Sheldon in the middle of all the changes and difficulties that follow Daniel status, and more and more interesting characters, you got one of the more intricate books in the series, and at the same time, the easier to read of the lot, because the angst is more manageable than in some of the previous books in the series. I can't wait to read what comes next after the end of this book. Also I strongly recommend to read the series in order, to fully enjoy everything. A great continuation in the series!

I am absolutely in love with this series! The world-building is fantastic, intricate, and compelling. The characters are developed and complex. I have especially loved watching Daniel grow and develop from a self-centered boy into a king responsible for his people and putting them above himself. This book has some fun times, steamy sex, and serious (and violent) parts like its predecessors. It's not stand alone, and the other books in the series must be read first, and in order, to understand this one. I don't know if this is the end of the series, but I hope not. I think there is more story that could be told, and I hope the author continues to tell it.

I received an ARC and am voluntarily leaving this honest review.

A fantastic continuation to the Cubi series by Meraki P Lyhne, Unseen Beauty is well written, filled with a fascinating story, and interesting characters. Although it's the eighth book in the series, I am still as stuck to the pages as I was beginning the Saga of these intriguing characters and storylines. They have overcome struggles, faced challenges, grown in their connections, celebrating what they have become and ready for the changes that await. Readers get a truly enjoyable view into this fascinating world, feeling satisfied but yet craving more.

Excellent!! An amazing continuation of the Cubi series. Once you start reading the series, you get hooked into it. The character development is incredible. With the end of the war, the king must pick up the pieces. Seldon has baby on the brain. All the side characters really helped to bring this story alive. Definitely a must read.

Just as always I’m amazed with this author’s ability to create, expand and project new worlds. The book continues the telling of an already existing story and the characters and world building are so complex that I really recommend the books to be read in order.

An amazing continuation to the cubi stories. There is character growth, and it adds to the story because we get to see how everything is starting to come together. It has s hopeful feel to it because this book talks about joining cultures, developing new societies and learning to bring different beings together.

This is a fantastic series, full of everything... you want angst, you got it. You want fun, you got it, you want depth, you got it! Just incredible!

WOW! I really loved this book. I really love watching the characters grow and become more. The intensity this author writes in is such an amazing thing. I love how the book has a story line to follow and not just a bunch of people having sex all the time; although those parts are awesome. It gives the characters more depth to their personality and especially in this book. I can't wait to see how many more changes and growth they come into in the next book.

One of the things I love most about this series is the dynamic nature of the characters, who are always revealing different sides of themselves in endlessly fascinating ways. It means that each novel the reader learns new things, and gets to see characters in a fresh light, and for me with this book it was definitely Seldon who stole the show in that regard. In addition to the ever-developing characters, of course, the world-building continues to be fantastic and the plot, even in supposedly “quiet” moments, gripping and intense.

With only one book left things are starting to wind down. Things seem to be coming to a place of calm within the Cubi world. The plot keeps moving along at a great pace and the book is still a page-turner. I really love that even with all of the sex scenes that we've had throughout the series so far they are still steamy and fresh. I am really loving the triad as they head into the final book. I have really been loving the series and I would definitely recommend this series and this book.

This series just keeps on getting better and better. I can't get enough of this story. Meraki P Lyhne has just made so many characters that I iust love. Seeing how they overcome struggle and going through change. Then you have the love that these characters feel. The world that had been created is absolutely amazing. I love coming back to this world and even after finishing I just want more.

World building is awesome. I would have preferred to read the previous books but this stands alone. The young King Danial has much to learn and to teach, while Seldon is having a blast with the cubs and looking forward to having babies. It’s all very fantastical and everyone working on a better world. It’s a different story, one that I enjoyed very much.

Though I love this series, I'm not sure why but I struggled a little with this one. Probably because there's too many characters and with the times between books, which are inevitable (I know), my mind is already struggling to keep up with who is who and that makes me disconnect a little with the story, from time to time.

This is my favorite book of the series so far! I love how the author addresses the “not beautiful” in a world where outward appearance is so important. It’s much like our world now. And the continuing love story of Daniel, Seldon and Caledon. Highly Recommend the entire series!!

This is one series that you will read and fall in love with. There are very few series that capture my attention from the first book to the most recent publication. Fabulous world building, wonderful backstory, great MCs with all its complexities.
Daniel, Caledon and Sheldon developed well into their character lines.
I am always amazed at how well this author builds a world within his books. Its even more impressive when the trend continues to the eighth in the series.

Definitely ready for the next book.

Happy.
The world of the Cubi, having come through so many problems, strife, and changes, finally begins to coalesce into a possibility of something peaceful, for all concerned. There is playfulness in both youth and age, a growing understanding of new definitions of beauty, as well as an understanding of why the old, superficial, definition had become necessary.
The general lighthearted feel of the entire book, along with the fun the characters engage in, both "innocent" and steamy, and the enlightening insight into society as a whole leaves the reader with a feeling of completeness, yet wishing for more of this fascinating world.

Another excellent installment

It’s no surprise to anyone who has read my reviews that I’m a fan of the Cubi series. This world is one that I very much love to visit whether Daniel, Seldon, Caledon, and the Other Cubi are dealing with sorrow and pain brought on by the ignorance and arrogance of humans or as in this book they are getting a breath and working to build a society that can move into the future. The best part of this book and the History of Beauty is that we get to see this beautiful love story of Elakdon and Randr. I love the way we are able to see how a culture can begin to change even the most entrenched societal norms. As someone who teaches cultural change, there are so many excellent passages to demonstrate this. Meraki P Lyhne truly has a gift for painting scenes, world building, and creating vivid complex characters that you cannot help but love.

Wow, what a story. Unseen Beauty is the 8th in the Cubi series and continues the story of Daniel, Seldon, and Caledon which just gets better the longer I read. This book has a very rich world-building and is unique. The book is filled with suspense, violence, some angst, and very hot and steamy mm and sometimes multiple partner sex scenes. It is filled with twists and turns. It is a fantastic read and I couldn't put the book down. It hits all the right spots. There were a few parts that I just laughed out loud and enjoyed. If you’re looking for a book that’s erotic, hot, and even sentimental at points, this could be it. I can't wait for the next book

I loved this book! I've read the entire series, and I love the author's world development. I really like how the characters are developed and have depth. I like seeing how Daniel continues to grow into his role as King. I like seeing the romantic relationships he's forming with Caledon and Seldon as well as deeper relationships with Aaron, Marcadon, Randr and others. I definitely recommend this series!

Great Series

I completed the entire series, and really enjoyed the entire journey.
The complete evolution of each character and supporting cast was well thought out, and brought to a satisfying conclusion.
The intimate relations were numerous but didn't overwhelm the events unfolding, but we're supporting events in the development of both story and individuals.
Lots of humor.
Lots of drama.
All an integral piece of the overall tale.

So hopeful!

I loved how hopeful and optimistic this book ended. There is a chance for humans and Cubi to live together again, yet that is tempered by the knowledge that it won’t be easy and it won’t be quick; but Beaudon is laying the foundation for a solution that is lasting because it is built upon mutual respect.

My favorite part of this book in the series is how the topic of "Beauty is far more than just skin deep" is dealt with. Randr is definitely one of my favorite characters in fiction! He could certainly eat crackers in MY bed, and I DETEST crumbs in my bed, LMFGAO!

This series contains 9 books revolving around Daniel and Sheldon a 400+ year old Succubi. Personally it was a little difficult getting into this series. The Incubi and Succubi are the hierarchy and are brought humans as slaves to feed from. Daniel is supposed to be protected by Sheldon but as a young adult he is a curious person and want to learn more. Daniel is considered an Untouchable and is to be train to be a companion for the Cubis. Daniel becomes a Changeling by being dosed accidentally. Each book following tells of the changes and things Daniel goes through and sexual exploits. There are a few times you have to think back to get the sequence of events and figure out who is who but overall it keeps you enthralled to the end.
