It seems like the whole world is bent on ruining Troy’s plans for revenge. Suspicious of the recent visit from her goddess sister, she finally turns to the demons for answers. But the story she hears from Derek White and Orion Black isn’t what she was expecting. Not knowing who to believe or what to think, Troya chooses to focus instead on using her growing powers of healing. She and her lovers embark on a mission to help the demons retrieve at-risk patients from a hospital outside White’s bubble of influence and bring them home to the sanctuary of Ontonagon. But things go awry when an enemy from White’s past shows up to cause chaos.
Just when Troya thinks she understands the events of the past and who she is in the present, the fates appear with a message that changes everything—and paints a big fat target on Troya’s back. What would you do if the fates of other people were in your hands?
*The Gods and Demons series is a spin off from the Gesa’s Menagerie series. While it can be read on its own, reading the Menagerie series first will provide more depth to the world and characters and is strongly recommended.
*The Gods and Demons books are NOVELLAS of between 35,000-45,000 words. *This is a series. There will be unresolved plot threads at times/ occasional cliff hangers. This first book DOES have a cliffhanger (though some plot arcs are completed as well). I generally will not do that thing that some authors do where you get an incomplete book that just stops in the middle. Some arcs will be completed or complete for “now,” but there will be lead-ins to the next book in the series. *Do NOT read this series if you are easily offended. The series will contain: mentions of past trauma (of ANY kind), adult language (that’s cursing kids, lots of it), and sexual content (possibly including male/female, male/male, female/female, male/male/female, female/female/male and any other combination you can think of.)
Sometimes our greatest strengths come from our deepest challenges. I write magic and romance, starring a cast of creatures with feathers, fins, and teeth. My books include paranormal romance, urban fantasy, and fantasy romance--with the occasional steampunk or alien story thrown in just for kicks. My pan heart firmly believes love is love, so you'll see straight, LGBTQIA, monogamous, reverse harem, and poly relationships in my work. My favorite theme is overcoming our inner demons and the insecurities that hold us back. I also advocate for self-development and mental health and dabble in non-fiction as time allows. I love the outdoors and still hope to be abducted by fae! (I may have more in common with my characters than I care to admit.)
I love to hear from readers!

5 star only because I've read all of the other books from this author. This one however should have 2 stars. 3rd book and the main email character is still indecisive, still confused, still without any common sense, not thinking for herself unless we talk about holding on to an imaginary grudge . On and on she moans about the same thing like a broken record although everything around her points to her being wrong. I was excited to get to know Whites story as hes such a great character but this paring him with such a mousey , self righteous and silly woman is just plain disappointing. Especially that I'm reading this author as her characters are normally quirky, strong, decisive and have a great sense of humor (another thing Troya lacks) . Overall 5 stars for all other books from this author and 2 stars for this series .
Events pick up steam in the latest installment to this serial epic, which I appreciated. Action, adventure, and sexiness galore, which is what we’ve come to love and expect from Draper’s entertaining stories. For this series, especially, we get answers to questions about Freya’s shared history with Derek White, along with explanations about current events in the broader world beyond White’s claimed city.
Before I, unfortunately, mention the things I didn’t like about this book, I have to give major compliments to the way Draper handled Black and his incubus power. Throughout this book, Freya uses her innate healing ability to target Black’s fears and help him release them, resulting in some lovely sexy bits (because incubus) that have a plot-related purpose beyond just being sexy. For a crazy urban fantasy epic, Draper has her romance genre beats down as well.
Alas, I wish I could give this book five stars, but some action and adventure and even the resulting sexy bits wouldn’t have happened if Freya hadn’t fallen into the “too dumb to live” trap of book heroes. Her reason for leaving the safety of the city boiled down to being selfish and spoiled and not wanting to be “left out” of the action. While I do recognize a person reaching the end of their limits, I didn’t buy that Freya’s reaction would be an impulsive decision that she was in no way prepared for, putting everyone around her in additional danger. It may have moved events along in the story but at the cost of some confusing characterization that I had trouble believing.
And that other half-star? I’m excited to learn more about the gods and demons implied the series title, but the first one we meet on the villain side is named Apophis. And he presents on earth as a white man with blond hair. I was disappointed by this default racial portrayal that could have been a much better world-building decision, based on what I’ve already read of Draper’s excellent creative skills.
Still looking forward to continuing with this series because I do love the characters. Still bummed that this installment moved the story forward at the expense of what Draper had already established about her wonderful heroine.
Since I don't normally write reviews unless I have something specific to say, here's the break down of how I rate my books...
1 star... This book was bad, so bad I may have given up and skipped to the end. I will avoid this author like the plague in the future.
2 stars... This book was not very good, and I won't be reading any more from the author.
3 stars... This book was ok, but I won't go out of my way to read more, But if I find another book by the author for under a dollar I'd pick it up.
4 stars... I really enjoyed this book and will definitely be on the look out to pick up more from the series/author.
5 stars... I loved this book! It has earned a permanent home in my collection and I'll be picking up the rest of the series and other books from the author ASAP.
Ah yes, this is the good stuff! We get a ton of heat, drama, and fast paced action for all of our characters. I love, love the push-pull between Troy and Derek, and mmmm the drama around Orion is SO WELL DONE. I’m so excited to be able to read writing this good, to care this much about the characters, and to know that after the cliffhanger - oooh! - there’s still lots more to come in this completed series!!
Ooh also, I’m reading the box set, but if you aren’t binging this series (first off, what are you doing - get in here, it’s fire) there is lots of quick catch up notes on whose who and why they matter. We love to see it! Easy to continue in the series or pick up if you’re reading multiple books at once (because again, who could put this down?!).
This serial like existence is killing me with suspense! I knew it was going to happen, and the to be continued still got me! Troya, and her men, has done it again, but definitely landed is something different! I honestly love this series. I love that Troya is a plus sized woman, who is somewhat self deprecating about her size and looks, but knows that Chike, Rhys, and Derek, deep in her head, love her for who she is and not how she looks. The third installment of this series has a lot more action from the war front, and Troya's healing powers take the front seat. Also, I'm just going to say it, I love Orion!
How many times Derek and Orion and repeated that Derek has not killed his sister but she is not even thinking about it for one second. I like Gesa's Series and i was so excited for this series as i thought main character is plus size woman but god it is difficult to read her POV which is always "He killed my sister". I am only reading this for Derek, i am crying out from him.I rarely hate characters but seriously I HATE HER SO MUCH.
I received this book through an ARC reading group that I belong to,and it was an excellent choice, although I am sorry I started with book three.....there's an easy way to rectify that, though :-)
The characters were colorful and wild. The story kept me interested. I plan to read more. I've been a fan of this author for awhile now. Can't wait to see what's next!
It's so nice to have a powerful, beautiful heroine who isn't a tiny little thing or a supermodel. Troya is normal. A little too big in her own opinion, like most women out there, but her men are all in awe of her. I can't get enough. Waiting for the next book!
This book is definitely the best so far of this series. It’s when all the plot construction, world building and emotional bonding with characters pays off. We finally get to find out more about Orion and Derek and about their bond. We also find out a little more about Troya’s first life.
Troya is working hard at building up her healing skills. The godspark is growing as she works with it more and more and the patients at the clinic are benefitting from her increased skill. When Derek plans to go and rescue a shifter from his town from a different city, where he is trapped, Troya insists on coming along as they will probably need her skills to help the shifter and all the other supernaturals they are hoping to rescue. This mission throws her together more with Derek and Orion and their interactions are very interesting.
The plot moves quickly in this book and a lot of action is crammed into a few pages. It’s exciting, informative and hot as hades. There is also an overwhelming hideous cliffhanger AGAIN!!! I really hope the next book is out or out very soon or I will be cursing the author with very complex and interesting swear words.
Troya still whined a lot in this book and made some not-so-great decisions (like butting into Derek/Orion healing private time), but I enjoyed it more than the previous two books once the fates swung by She seemed to take more charge of her own fate and stopped being so indecisive in what she wanted with her life. I'm glad that the fates finally set her fully straight, and it seems like her whole harem will be ready for the battle in the next book. -------- Ratings - completed series: #1 Fates, Fins, and Fangs: ★★★☆☆ #2 Wishes, Wings, and Woes: ★★★☆☆ #3 Horns, Hugs, and Hunger (this book): ★★★★☆ #4 Demons, Danger, and Demigods: ★★★☆☆
