Demitra doesn't understand why romance is so difficult. Regular guys just don't manage to hold her interest and it seems that the only thing she finds truly attractive are the inhuman faces of Monsters on the silver screen. That is, until a chance encounter reveals that not only are Monsters real, but they are inextricably intertwined with her past, future, and sexual discovery.
This book was actually a suggestion in my Amazon book club and since the club was reading another book already I, I wanted to scope this one out and I’m so FREAKING glad that I did! Wow, was not expecting to read what I did but absolutely loved it! The only thing I’m upset about is that I was left on that heck of a cliffhanger, like how could you do that to me?!? So much just happened after Demi finally starts to find her place and footing then Maggie is taken from her and no one really knows why? Does her sister have something to do with it? What about Alma? He was missing when everything happened and so we don’t even know if Maggie left anything to Demi. What the heck?? I was thrown into this awesome monsterverse and I really did not want to leave it. It really intrigued me how this story was unraveling, I mean I just thought it was a one off with Aleksander at the club and there for a second I really wondered if he was a real vampire, of course he was. Fell in love with the characters that Demi started building a relationship with, I think my favorite is Jonny though. He wasn’t lying when he told her that the story of his death was the most interesting thing. Really though, I’ll just be sitting here waiting for another book to come out about this because I HAVE to know what is going on. I want to know who the murderer is, who is going to get the house, how many other encounters is Demi going to have?? I’m dying over here lol, I may even cry. I certainly will be talking about this book hangover for a while.
I wanted this to be another Rooksgrave Manor, one of my very favorite books, and that's probably unfair of me to have headed into it with that hope.
It's a unique and interesting story, and I found the characters interesting. The cliffhanger was a little abrupt. Super quick read, knocked it out over the course of two evenings.
What's NEVER mentioned is that the beings banging her also banged her grandma, and I know a whole theme of the book is ignoring the human values around sexuality but STILL, I was a little weirded out.
Interesting idea for a story, but ends abruptly so I assume there will be a sequel down the line? There are a lot of typos in here and incorrect-though-close word choices.
Proper monster-monsters and some parts are more gross than sexy—which works with the creatures described.
Such a surprise! I loved it. I cannot wait for the next book. It has been a while since I instantly fell in love with a character so I am very excited to see where the story goes.
OK, so this is one of the weirdest books I've read and I'm shockingly into it.
It starts off with Demitra, a normal young woman just doing what other young women do: work, live in a crappy apartment, has a small circle of friends, and has a weird fascination with monsters. As in, horror flick monsters.
She meets a mysterious man at a nightclub who, after a rather risqué encounter, gives her a card with his name on the front and a written woman's name and phone number on the back. He tells her to call this woman. After stewing on it, she calls and learns this mysterious woman is her grandmother.
She decides to visit and pulls up to a great purple mansion. Her grandmother reveals some truths and asks Dem to join the family business. Without giving away what that business is entirely, Maggie gives Dem an "encyclopedia" to take home and study on it.
She decides to take the offer and learns more truth after moving into the mansion. She comes from a long line of magical beings who "service" other magical beings for strength, for both and/or all participants.
So, her attraction to monsters isn't all about fascination, but her biological makeup. She's learning the ropes just as something horrible happens to her grandmother. Now she must navigate this new world where there are true monsters lurking, and not the good kind.
This book ends on a little cliffhanger that has me downloading the next book right away. Even though there were grammatical errors that semi-irritated me, it didn't take away from the story too much. The spice is ok..nothing groundbreaking but monster s*x is a bit weird. It takes some imagination to picture it but that's part of the appeal, I think. In for a penny, in for a pound. I'm on to the 2nd book.
This book kept being suggested in smut groups on FB so obviously I had to have a look for myself. Uh, it wasnt what I expected and DEFINITELY doesn’t fit the normal M/F love story, in fact this is NOT a love story.
It was an interesting storyline, Demetria after a hard life finds out she has a grandmother who she knew nothing about. The grandmother welcomes her into the family business with open arms - turns out that business is sex work.. for “monsters”
There is no main love interests. There is no love. This is purely smut and definitely a smut driven storyline. It is well written enough and has a very unique storyline.
This is NOT a standalone and does end on a pretty steep cliffhanger.
3.5 rounded down cause FMC felt like an npc, she wasn’t witty or special in anyway outside being just used as a wet hole to make monsters feel better magically about being away from their home realms..

You know what - I’m not sure how I found this book, but I’m glad I did 😂
It was a quick read full of weird monster spice. 🥵🌶️
The opening few chapters have you squirming in your seat - before it continuing to follow Demi to meet her long lost grandmother, who is actually a mistress for monsters.
The most random story I’ve found, but I’m intrigued - mainly because I’m pretty twisted 😂😂 Some of the spicy scenes are quite difficult to get your head around - especially when the scenes are with a human and a mythical creature (or two 👀).
There was a pretty nasty twist that I didn’t see coming - and I’m hoping it doesn’t ruin the story.
There are 3/4 more books to this series and I can’t wait to delve in!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Honestly, it feels like a stretch to call this a romance book. Feels like something of a stretch to call it a book. More like the premiere of a tv show--a serial. There are also several instances of serious and unpleasant topics brandished about needlessly or crudely. It's not really a cozy or feel-good vibe. And the spice isn't especially evocative. That said, it is interesting. The world building is good, and I am curious to read more. I am concerned by the garish nature with which some of the traumatic events are handled. I was hoping to find a romance book rather than a trauma parade of torture, frankly. So, fingers crossed.
I’ve been reading NOTHING but reversed harems and THIS, THIS was a breathe of fresh air. My heart was quickly saddened but I am here for the promise of the fight ahead. I already have my favorite guys. I like the information on the creatures in this world. I like the take on things. Devoured it in less than 3 hours. Will be reading the rest!
Demitri found out she had a grandmother and why she was the way she was. Her grandmother showed her the ropes of her business. Not your usual though. Grandmother gets killed. Her sister shows up and all is up in the air. A TBC book. I did not include other aspects of the story so just read it.
I absolutely loved that all the cryptids and mythical creatures were easily found through a google search. I got so excited as I stopped to research each one before continuing to read. This was probably the most engaging monster book I’ve ever read. I will definitely be adding this one to my “Re-Read” list. Now to dive into the rest of the series xoxo!
This was a great premise, loads of smut throughout, good characters… but the story twisted at the end and it’s put me off reading the second book, unfortunately. Book two is now in my NRN pile (not right now) and I might come back to it one day. I did enjoy almost all the story in this book, before the twist at the end, and recommend it to anyone who’s a fan of monster smut.
A bit disappointed with this. everyone constantly recommends it but unfortunately it's a novella. and pretty much the story is broken up into several books.. the first book is basically setting up the manor itself. and very quickly introducing our harem of Monsters. I'd put the spice at maybe 🌶️🌶️, approaching three. but all the smexy scenes were very short.
I really enjoyed this book. The storyline is unique and is well written. I love that more monster love books are being written. I look forward to reading the next installment!
Loved this take on Monsters. Liked the mix of smut with story. I am hooked and can't wait to read the next installment. Not a HEA or even HFN, Please don't leave us hanging :) There are a few typos/ grammar issued but nothing that disrupts the story.
Very interesting. Demitra life gets turned upside down when she goes to a monsters costume party. She didn't expect to have a grandma. Demitra learns about the family business and that she not human either.
First of all, that beginning got me. I forgot to read the TW. It wasn't bad, just unexpected. Overall, great story. I had some giggles sharing parts with my husband. The story really amps up at the end, so,I'm looking forward to book 2.
