BOOK 2 of the STANDALONE SERIES

Due to her mother's curse, MEDEA TURNS INTO A CAT AT NIGHT. Her mother, DIMA, is 130-years-old but appears to be 18, the same age as her two daughters. Medea works in the family witchcraft business of fortune-telling, seances, and other witchery-for-hire. NIKKI works as a maid. Medea is tortured by a secret that can destroy the sisterly tie between her and Nikki. Her sister was born a Marilyn-Monroe lookalike. Despite her beauty, jealousy eats away at Nikki because her mother and sister have magic. Nor is Nikki allowed near the books of spells, enchantments, and potions Dima stole from Russian monks. Unknown to her family, Nikki, is developing a magical gift which she cannot control, a sorcery that will threaten Medea and pit two powerful sisters against each other.

(Please note: The books in the series, A Dysfunctional Family of Witches, can be read in any order. Each book comes to a conclusion, but the story of the Romanov witches continues through time.)

Medea is a young woman, a witch who works in the family business telling fortunes doing seances among other witchy stuff. Oh and did I mention that she turns into a cat at night due to her mother, Dima bestowing a curse upon her. Dima is 130 years old but looks to be the same age as her two daughters.

Medea has a sister Nikki who has no magic or at least that is what is believed to be the truth. But the real truth is that Nikki may be more powerful than Medea or Dima. Nikki sees the dead, talks to the dead. Nikki is sometimes afraid of the dead. Yeah don’t believe the old saying that ghost can’t hurt you I would imagine that Nikki has a difference of opinion.

The Witch with Nine Lives is a fast paced read that had me flipping the pages as I couldn’t wait to see what was around the next corner. The Witch with Nine Lives is filled with magic with lots of twists that kept me glued to the pages racing to the end to see how it all turned out. Once I picked up The Witch with Nine Lives I was lost between its pages. I was glad to see Media and Dima back again for more adventures.

Come join Medea, Dima and Nikki as all their well kept secrets start to slowly come out into the open. Each character is just as fabulous as the other. I so enjoyed reading about all three women and getting their individual stories. I can’t wait to read more about these three ladies in future books of the Dysfunctional Family of Witches series.

I love witches and highly recommend The Witch with Nine Lives to all fans of witches, paranormal and fantasy books. I would also like to recommend another book in the Dysfunctional Family of Witches series Undying Witch. One click your copy of The Witch with Nine Lives and Undying Witch to begin a magical adventure.

I voluntarily reviewed this after receiving a free copy.

Tim Burton meets Seinfeld. That was the vibe this book gave me.

The first book in a series about the witch Dima and her two daughters (Madea and Nikki). A peek into their dysfunctional family shenanigans.

It was a great start to the series! I thought the exposition drug out a bit too far. I did start to wonder if anything big was going to happen to the girls. I kept reading though, and about halfway through stuff did happen and then I couldn’t stop reading! No spoilers here! By the end of the book, I really did like the characters and kind of felt like I was a part of the family, too. Maybe one of the many cats In their caravan! It’ll be interesting to see what they do next.

It was alright, but not a favorite.

I found this book to be okay. From the title I would have thought it would follow Medea more then it did since she was the one cursed by her mother to be a cat. I could understand the bit of the book following Dima, her mother for background info. This book mainly seemed to focus on Nikki, Demea's younger sister.

I found the characters mainly self-centered. Medea was the least self-centered one in the book. This definitely displayed a very dysfunctional family. There were definitely other dysfunctional characters in the book. This story honestly shows how Nikki grows into her powers as a witch even though she has been told she has no magic.

This book is mostly clean but I still would not say it is good for a young reader.

Our dear Dima, who is now 130-years-old, is not what you would call a loving mother. Treating her daughters as slaves is only the beginning. In a show of tough love, she cursed Medea to be a cat at sundown, returning to her human form in the morning. Yes, I said daughters, plural. This volume introduces Nikki as daughter number two. Nikki was born beautiful, a Marilyn Monroe lookalike, but her mother has her working scrubbing toilets; to build confidence and fortitude no doubt. Nikki also shares a secret with Medea, which eventually causes tension between them. Over time, Nikki becomes quite the little hustler with an interesting story all her own. I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

I had a hard time getting into this book. It was a tad confusing and there really wasn't much depth to the characters. Overall is was an okay read but it did not keep my attention enough to want to continue the series.

An unusual tale about a very dysfunctional family of witches. Dark and strange, full of surprises. I read the prequel, I knew the background, but was still shocked at the way these witches treat each other. Yet I ended up liking them. A very lively and engrossing read.

Tragic... I couldn't get into this nonsensical rambling tale as much as I tried to persevere
