Those angry, hateful eyes haunt me. Not the ones of the man I accused of murder, but the eyes of his son. I see them in the dark every time I close mine.
Trailer trash. “Poor Girl”, that’s what they used to call me. Now, I’m less than that. I’m nothing.
My life fell apart the day I watched my dad die. Four years later, I’m getting the chance to put it back together.
Crowned College. A world of privilege and ruthless money. I don’t belong, and one person will make sure I know it.
Quiet. Dark. Deadly. Insanely gorgeous. Logan. The one whose eyes haunt my nightmares.
I need to stay as far away from him as possible if I want to get out of here alive.
Logan
What she doesn’t know is I was there too. I saw how her dad died. I know she lied.
That’s right, Violet, your nightmare is here. Welcome to my world.
I will make you regret the day you were born, you little liar.
Hateful Lies is a dark enemies to lovers college bully romance. This is a standalone story with a HEA. It contains scenes that may be offensive or triggering for some readers.
This book is short, but it’s jam-packed with plot and romance. Violet witnessed her father being murdered four years ago, and his killer, a rich man, has been in hiding since. But then his family reaches out to her and offers to pay for her college… And she’s worried that they might find out that she lied about what she saw that night. Logan, the son of the man she accused of murder, and Violet hate each other right off the bat, and they have a typical enemies-to-lovers romance. Violet had dated Logan’s brother briefly years ago, and as a result of what his brother has told him, he thinks that she’s a gold digger on top of falsely accusing his father of murder. Amidst all of this drama, both Violet and Logan attend an elite college that has a secret society, and I loved the little something extra that these meetings bring to the storyline and their burgeoning relationship. This isn’t quite a dark romance, but it’s not light and fluffy either. The suspense is perfectly integrated throughout the romance story arc, and I wasn’t able to put the book down.
This was just a bit boring. It was short so not much really happens. I thought the ending was a bit lacklustre and neither characters personalities got developed.
Violet is of indeterminate age, had to drop out of school on account of her Dad’s demise where he was murdered by his employer. Or so we think . . . Violet was a witness to this crime and testified against her father’s employer. Said employer is on the run. Employer also has two sons: Heston and Logan. If Heston was the MC then maybe this would have been a bully book but he wasn’t. Logan was and we learn next to nothing about him, he wants to start a real estate company, he has a poor view of women where he feels everyone wants his cash, he is lazy, a bit of a player but mostly just boring.
Violet is a hard worker, she wants to be a doctor. An opportunity falls into her lap where she attends the same college as both Heston and Logan. Heston is barely in the book. There are parties, a best friend with good clothes, some attacks on her life.
It was just so boring. Logan was bland. Violet was bland. Maybe if she’d kept her old job or fought/stood up for herself a bit more, even if there was some more angst I would’ve been convinced but it was just a lot of nothing and in general a predictable story.
I did like that Everly was a decent portrayal of a good female friend. She was supportive and kind and actually looked after and out for Violet when she didn’t feel safe. It wasn’t just about makeovers and which boy do you like it felt like their friendship actually had meaning and wasn’t just used as a plot device.
"She ruined my dad’s life, and now she’s ruining me."
Omg! Another bully romance and A New Author for Me!This was such an angsty and fast pace story read I flew on this. I really like Violet and Logan's character the sexual tension is🔥.
basically the story revolves when Violet witness he's dad being murder, and she claimes Logan Aston's father is the suspect. 4 years later she receives a letter from Aston's lawyer that they granted her a college scholarship so that she can pursue her dreams to become a doctor. At first she's very reluctant to accept the offer since she the family is the reason why her father died. But eventually practicality wins and from there the story progress.
Bully Romance is one of my favourite trope especially if the execution is brilliant. I'm sucker for the angst, pining & tension between main characters. So there's no surprise why I picked up this book because it's up with my ally✔
I can definitely say that I'm lookin forward to any books by this author♥ I'm excited to read more✓
✓Angst ✓Sexual tension ✓Great main characters
“I’m going to haunt her like she’s haunted me all these years. I’m going to change the look in those violet eyes in my nightmares from triumph to fear.”
“He’s standing up there like a curse from my past. All sharp lines, styled hair and piercing eyes. He’s staring into my soul,”
"She looked so alone when I walked into the courtroom. I saw her sitting by herself with just her lawyer and all the empty benches behind her. My dad’s side was packed with people, of course. My heart ached for her. She must feel so alone."
Where to begin...whew. there was a lot here. A lot. So many "twists" and "surprises" that weren't really surprises, that didnt mesh and were just all over the place, not to mention unbelievably. Then we have all the chemistry and emotions and tension that we were told about. I felt no tension and no chemistry and found it irritating when the h mentioned how Rhett was always like that - because we barely see her interact with him. There just was too much going on and not nearly enough shown versus told.
First time reading this author's work. I think it had potential to be a good story, it was just so short! There was not enough time for the whole story to unfold. All the information was packed into 200 pages. I think there could have been more detail and more interactions between the characters. The characters never really developed
Hateful Lies by Liv Reid is a college enemies-to-lovers romance and is the first book that I've read by this new-to-me author. It was a great read with plenty of drama, lies, mystery with some pretty steamy scenes. In this story, after the death of her father, Violet has worked hard to survive and her dream of going to college to become a doctor seem almost non-existent. When she gets offered an all-expenses chance to attend a prestigious college, she is reluctant to accept. Why? Because the offer comes from the family of the man who killed her father. What are their motives and why would they want to help her? Violet knows that she'll never get another chance at college if she declines, so she accepts the offer. Once she gets to college, she comes face to face with Logan, the son of the man who killed her father. Logan can't believe that Violet is at his school. He despises her and blames her for breaking up his family. As much as he hates her and is happy to avoid her, they keep crossing paths. Firstly, they're in the same class, then there's the fact that she comes to the house to attend mandatory monthly dinners, and to top it all off, these two get paired together to host a dinner party. They say that there is a fine line between love and hate and that is definitely the case here. Although Logan thinks Violet lied about his father, he can't help how his body responds whenever she's near and it has him feeling oddly protective. The more time these two spend together, the more intense the chemistry gets and their feelings for each other start to change. When Logan's father is finally brought to justice, the truth comes out. Did Violet really lie about what she saw or was she telling the truth? Will the ruin what Violet and Logan have? This story was a great read and with it being my debut into the author Liv Reid, I can definitely say that I'll be reading more of her work in the future.
No idea if this author is new but the book had promise it could have been good but the story took a while to pick up and then at like 60% it whizzed through this storyline like there’s no tomorrow.
The start was a slow burn enemies to lovers and I feel like if the author was going down that route then she should have stuck with it and made this a 2 book story. But because she went super slow burn to super fast and had plot line it all sorta just fell apart. None of the characters were developed, there was no build up and mystery to the court room. They had sex twice and then we’re together. I dunno it had the elements of a good book but the author didn’t nail it at all.
First book to be read by Lov Reid. I would consider this an enemies to lovers and thats it. No bullying what do ever. Besides that I really enjoyed it. Violet being so strong and determined to make a better life for herself she accepts help from the family that murdered her father. She took the cruel insults and stood tall in the end. Logan having to make a decision between family and love. It's harder than you think. I enjoyed her writing looking forward to the next book
Wow! This was an excellent, well written, college bully to... romance. It’s not overly dark but has plenty of twists in the plot as you turn the pages. You feel for Violet as she only has one friend in the world until she begins Crowned College, but she has a strong backbone and is a brilliant character. Logan makes an excellent bully with his mission to ruin Violet. With plenty of angst and other emotions throughout, a superb read.

This is the first time I have read anything by this author and what a brilliant introduction it is! This book is a fantastic read from cover to cover. The plot, the characters are all so amazingly written. It’s filled with drama and emotion so hold on tight cause this is a bumpy ride. I shall be more than happy to read other books from this author after finishing this one, I love her writing.

This is the first book by this author I have read but it certainly won’t be the last, Great storyline and I loved the characters, and the friendship between Violet and Everly, really enjoyed how the relationship developed between Violet and Logan with a lovely ending 😊 feels like it’s leading onto to a second (maybe more?) books 🤞😁

I really enjoyed this enemies to lovers romance. The chemistry between Logan and Violet is off the charts. There aren’t a lot of steamy scenes but the ones that are there are really goooddd. My only issue was that violet refers to herself as poor like way too much. We understand from the beginning that she had financial issues but to do it all the time... Overall great really enjoyed this book and look forward to reading more from Liv Reid.
The amount of times h herself says how poor she is and don't get me when she introduces herself : Hey, my name is Violet and I am very poor.
Alright, then I went on thinking, I can ignore this. Up until H gets a handjob in the class from another girl and he comes too fast and feels ashamed and runs off. I mean, I cringed so bad. So, so bad. I need bleach because this guy just became the biggest simp.

Hateful lies was a fast paced story of enemies to lovers bully romance . I liked the writing and the plot of the story . Violet was a strong female lead and Logan was the sexy loner hot head . I give this 5 stars for having enough story for being just a stand alone with great storyline and realistic characters
This book was crazy insane. Bullying is so wrong in any way. Rich people suck with their way over privileged attitudes. Thank goodness Logan was the man he was in every circumstance of the story. I knew he'd be a good guy. And my God Violet was so awesome, with her strength and will. A really book.
I really liked this book throughout the whole thing, but the ending seemed really rushed. Everything else flowed really well, and I liked the chemistry between Violet and Logan. I would recommend this book.

3.5 stars I actually really liked the book but the last chapters were really rushed and then it just ended abruptly, so I can’t give a higher rating. In my opinion the story would’ve needed a few more chapters in the end.
I really enjoyed this book, the story, and the characters. The writing was a little “eh” for me but for others it may not be like that. I would still recommend this book for those looking for a bully story.
I really loved the story and the premise behind it. I just felt like it was rushed. There wasn't time for the main characters to fall in love. There could have been more.
It was a good story! It felt rushed and not a lot of dialog between the characters. I agree with on other review it felt like I was reading a manual! I wanted more! I gave 3 stars for the story was good but just need more!
I couldn't get enough of Logan & Violet's book. Loved sexual tension between them. Wow. And a new author for me. I received a free copy of the book. And am voluntarily leaving my honest opinion.
