Nessuno mi capiva come Dash e nessuno mi faceva sentire tanto amata.
Esatto...

descriptionThis cover is OK. It is pretty generic and not really how I pictured the hero. The composition is good though. I would have moved the title a little more to the left, but otherwise, it is fine.description

descriptionI don't really have a lot to say about this one. It was just OK for me. My FIL passed away Monday so I wasn't in the chiperest of moods to begin with, and this one sounded like it would be a cute lighthearted read. It was NOT.

The writing was fine. It was nicely paced. I just didn't connect with either of the main characters or the plot overall. They had ZERO chemistry IMO. Amelia was a doormat and Dash was just depressing and weak. Good Lord was this guy weak. The entire book was the heroine going for it and propping up this sad sack of hero, AND the heroine STILL came off as a doormat, so that gives you some idea how weak this hero was (IMO). In fact, the entire book depressed me. There was never any lighthearted moments between these two.

description

Not to mention we have this HUGE secret of Dash's hanging over the entire book and when it FINALLY comes out WAY too late in the book, it turns out to be a pretty heavy and vomit inducing secret. I guess I was supposed to feel sorry for him. Like he got taken advantage of. I didn't. I felt he was old enough to know right from wrong and the excuses didn't fly with me. Since we don't find out what it is until so late into the book the aftermath is swept under the rug, and doormat Amy just gets over it lickdy split. I don't have much else to say. Like I said it was just OK.description

This book was... I don't even know.
Maybe I'd simply say it was all over the place??
I think that's the best way to describe it.
She loves him... she hates him... she fucks him... she runs from him.
He loves her... he ditches her... he fucks her... he hates himself for it.

Whip. Lash.

description

I didn't like either of the main characters even a little bit. Dash was so damn depressing. Reading his POV was a serious downer. Amelia was an absolute doormat. Good grief, girl... get your shit together. Both of them were whiny, mopey, and quite disappointing.

Now let's discuss the issue that dominated this book... the big SECRET ! First of all, the "secret" Dash was hiding which stood in the way of him being with the Amelia was revealed waaaaaaaaaaaay too late. Because of this, I felt that it lacked the *BOOM* it was expected to be for 90% of this book. It was *gasp!* shocking (not so much) ... yet it was sort of cleaned up, picked up, put away, nice and tidy in such a short amount of time. Left me wondering why it was such a big issue for so much of the book?! I despise when we're given lines like, "If only I could tell her my secret and why she shouldn't be with someone like me" over and over and over again until the last couple of chapters. #Annoying

Other annoyances for me:

grammatical errors in published books

description

use of words that aren't real words

description

when a character gets up from her seat and walks over to another character, only to get up from her seat again in the next paragraph.

description

All of this in one book.

Yikes.

I went into this looking for a lighthearted second chance kind of plot line and this turned out to be the book version of a literal wet-blanket. This book made me feel like I would never be happy again, everything was depressing and each of the characters's inner monologues were impossible to bear.

her: I love him. But he hurt me. But I literally can't stop my hands from reaching out and petting him.
him: I love her. But she should hate me. Because of that thing that I'm going to wait until the last few pages to share.
her: but I want to know.
him: *mopes around*
her: *mopes around*
all: *mopes around*

● if you couldn't already tell, there was a lot of freaking moping and I was over it by the first chapter. There was no plot expect for the said 'romance', of which I felt nothing for. I did not root for these two characters to be together, I just wanted them to get it over and done with so nobody would be FLIPPING MOPING.

● there was such a emphasis on the joint project that brought them together and honestly I had no interest in them designing a children's book about a fucking Dove finding herself. I am sorry but that was not what I signed up for.

● and the big secret that had kept Dash and Ammy apart for so long? Predicable.

● there was a lot that felt forced and fake, especially the sudden death of a side character that happened near the end of the book. It came completely out of left field and felt like cheap shock value. And to top it off, there was barely any mention of it after it dramatised the emotional plot of the story.

● the representation of depression, as it's assumed that Dash suffers when Ammy discovers some barely taken anti-depressants that were prescribed years ago, was shotty at best. It never directly said that Dash had or was suffering with depression, it just hinted at it. And instead of delving into a character with depression and the struggles they face, Dash came across as weak and mopey. Let me be clear, I am not saying people with depression are AT ALL WEAK OR MOPEY just that this character was a bad representation and came across as such. As having suffered with depression for years, it's always a kick in the teeth to see this kind of representation.

This was not a badly written book by any means, the writing was easy to follow and enjoyable. It was the story-line and characters that just didn't do a thing for me, I felt no emotional connection despite the often sad circumstances and I couldn't relate to the characters at all. I wanted to love this so much, and it's a trope that I usually adore, but it just fell way short for me.

There are few types of books that go under the category of good. Some start bad and boring but at certain point catches up, some are “good” from the beginning to the end, some are start “good” and just frizzles off at the end. This one? Definitely belongs to the latter. At first I was really excited. Thinking that the book was keep on being as awesome as it started. Even in the updates I was somewhat excited by the prospect of the book. Within few chapters the book managed to capture my full attention and I could already feel my heart being tugged by its strings for Ammy. But like I mentioned, somewhere along those pages, the book just (in the nicest words I can use) fell flat. The pull that kept the strung on the book was gone. By 60% of the book I was already guessing what was the big secret and almost updated good reads by guessing it but was just wanted to finish the book faster in order for me to go back to my other books on the list.

Finally to the proper review. The characters itself were somewhat better than the usual NA characters we see. Was the author going for characters that would tug us and make us cry? Maybe. But most importantly, did it work? Certainly not with me. My heart had a small inkling of being overly attached to the character but it was quickly lost by half of the book. There was a part of me still thinking that characters themselves were pitiful and they did take the correct decision (well, that I still stand by). A part of me was rejecting the characters a place in my heart. It seemed too superficial. In no way am I saying the issues addressed in the book are superficial. It is just the way the characters were written. There was plenty of potential in the book and I felt it was only half addressed.

I am sure many loved the book and by no chance am I telling that this book was bad. It is just that it did not completely capture me to the extent I would give it a rating above 3 stars. A pity as I actually started the book thinking I would even give it a solid 5 stars.

Ella James is BACK and she is kicking up the angst factor in her newest release, THE BOY NEXT DOOR, book two in her Off-Limits Romance Series. To say that this friends-to-lovers romance was a walk in the park would be a HUGE understatement. Like in many of her books, she makes you work for the happily ever after and I think that is the thing that I love most about her style of writing. If you are looking for a light-hearted romance, look somewhere else, because THE BOY NEXT DOOR is everything but.

"I can't be done with this, with him. Not until I feel more satisfied. Less...used.

Ella James takes us on a journey from past to present with Dash Frasier and Amelia Frank. Complicated from the VERY start, it didn't look like it was in the stars for these two characters, even though the connection was undeniable. A young girl abandoned by the boy who was her hero, only to have him return and break her heart all over again. No explanation. No warning. Years later they find themselves face to face once again. Playing it off as if they had no history, Dash and Amelia begin a work relationship where tensions are high, and the past is most definitely present.

"This girl is my poison and my cure."

With the insane chemistry still burning between them, they fall back into each other's arms, but Dash is holding something back. He is ALWAYS holding something back. He has a secret and it could destroy them both, but he can savor Amelia, the girl who used to look at him with hero-worship eyes, for just a little while. Can't he? How many times can heart-break until it's irrevocably destroyed? Can Amelia live with only ever having a part of Dash? Or will she finally find the strength to move on from the past, from the present, and dream for a new future?

Ella James dishes out a real page-turner with THE BOY NEXT DOOR. This is a romance that will keep you on your toes for sure. It's fascinating and of course SEXY as hell. It's unique and beautiful and I couldn't put it down for even a second. Dash and Amelia were fascinating characters and their journey was tough, but their happily ever after was most certainly worth the wait.

Title: The Boy Next Door
Author: Ella James
Category: Romance
Series or Standalone: Standalone
POV: First person, Dual
Plot: 3.5
Characters: 3
Scorching Level: 3
HEA: Not telling

I had a hard time rating this. To be honest, I had such high expectations for this book but in the end I was a bit let down.
Let me start by saying that I love Ella James. Many of her books are some of my top favorites, especially her fairytale retellings.
I loved the premise of the story. The story of the young girl crushing on the boy next door and then having her heart broken. I am a sucker for angsty romances so I was certain this would be right up my alley.
I liked that the book was fast paced and at the same time I hated it. When I was first introduced to the characters I hoped I would get more insight into how and why Amelia fell for Dash. I wanted to see their bond develop so I could get invested on their story. I got a lot of descriptions of how handsome Dash was, but I never got why Amelia loved him. Even throughout the story. The book didn't takek me there emotionally.
I wanted Amelia to give Dash hell for beaking her heart. Instead, she took whatever be gave her and even initiated the physical connection. I wanted him to work for it, I wanted her stronger but she kept contradicting herself.
The plot twist comes too late, in the sense that it is not developed enough for me. And it is a big revelation. I wanted some more development on that.
Overall, the book had the potential to be a great read but for me it fell a bit flat. It didn't work for me, but it might work for you.
Be prepared for a lot of steamy times!

* Received an early copy in exchange for a review

One of the things I dislike about writing a review, is that I am worried my thoughts and feelings won't come across as I intend them. I don't want readers, nor the author, to think I am being picky or trying to tear down their work. I'm just simply giving my reasons for my ratings just as I would do for a book I loved. It's easy when I absolutely LOVE a book, it's easy to convey why, but when a book just doesn't do it for me, it's almost hard to pinpoint that exact reason, except with this one. I can pinpoint a few key reasons, again for ME, and what took me off guard personally.

Although this story was an ok one, I think had the potential to be an epic one (for me at least) but there are just several things, that just prevented me from really liking the story as a whole. I love other books by this author and Sloth really gutted me, and i was hoping for that same feelings with this one, as I know she loves to throw her readers for a loop and take them on an emotional journey. That just didn't happen for me.

*Warning - going any further and content ~could~ be considered spoilers, proceed with caution. ...

The first thing is that I never felt a strong romantic connection between the characters when they were younger, when Amelia 'fell in love' with Dash. They had known each other since she was six and him nine, she was best friends with his sister. She would have sleepovers there, swim in their pool, climb out on the roof with them both and star gaze, things that friends do. At age 15, Amelia starts to think her feelings towards dash change and now is in love with the boy next door, the boy she can't have, the boy who is 18 and leaving for college, the boy who broke her heart. When he left, he never wrote or called her, didn't see her till the summer he came back home and seen her at a party. (Again still 15 & 18).

That night at the party, he took her virginity. Well, she gave it to him. Ok, so I'm not a prude by any means (look at my book history lol) and I know that unfortunately kids at 15 have sex (I just prefer to not read it), but he was legal age at 18 AND Drunk! What pissed me off the most though, was he was supposed to stay a few days in town to spend time with her (after ignoring her the entire time he was gone) but right after they did the deed, he got a text from his sister and he said he had to leave, but promised Amelia he would be around for a few days. That was a lie. She didn't have any contact with him nor see him again until years later when she found out she would be working with him.

She still feels the pull, still loves him, even though she hates him for what he did. But that doesn't matter, if he just showed her a little physical attention, she was in his bed. And he did the same things several times. Like he sleeps with her then rejects her, says he's no good for her, because of his past, yada yada yada.

I really was hoping that Amelia would have made Dash work more for her forgiveness instead of just keep jumping back into his arms like nothing ever happened. Even given his past, and the secret he bore, I don't think that warranted his behavior or treatment of Amelia.
And as for his secret, he was old enough (basically an adult) to make a conscious decision and needs to own up to that....and that's all I'm saying on that.

This brings me to my last point because I don't believe in completely picking apart someone's hard earned work, and that is NOT my intention....I'm simply stating why the book didn't quite do it for me.

My thoughts and feelings are in the parentheses in this passage taken from the book.

***~ I drive around the neighborhood a few times, wanting really f*cking badly to go somewhere and get drunk. I know I can’t. Amelia deserves better (yup, she sure does). She has always deserved better. And I have always been so fucking selfish (#Truth)
Since we were kids, I wanted her. I jacked off to thoughts of her when I was fifteen and she was twelve (see * after quote for my feelings) She barely even had boobs, but I wanted her. Wanting her, not being able to even dream of having her, has been one of the worst parts of my life.
*ok, so this is probably the mom in me coming out right here on this. I have kids close to this age, 13 and almost 11, and IMO this is unacceptable and the story really could have done without this bit of info. This did not make me think he always loved her more than friends, this did not show me a bond between the two characters and didn't further the story plot. All this did was make me cringe and piss me off, if I'm being honest.

The Boy Next Door Meets the World!

I really loved the concept of where this book could have gone but sadly it fell short for me in various of areas. The beginning really grabbed my attention and left me feeling for the protagonist. But as the story progressed it started becoming unclear about the relationship between The protagonist and her love interest. I couldn't really tell a lot about there relationship if they really had a strong connection or not. The middle of the book was a Big blur, like there were many scenes that dragged me in and made so happy and sad but then id get disappointed when something pops up that literally made no sense for in there relationship. The end was ok but the overall twist left me with more questions then answers. I overall did love that the author did something different then other authors did according to the theme. It really brought back child hood memories. I really loved the bubbly characteristics the Protagonist had especially her style, I could totally see myself in her shoes literally. I don't have much to say about the love interest except that he had some good character development but nothing to eye catching. It just left me confused on whether i love it or hate it all at once.In the end i have to say i did enjoy myself with this book but not as much as i wants to sadly.

I was completely sucked into this book. Dash is Amazing... he is my favorite character from Ella James so far! His dark soul that is so wanting to love Ammy is completely beautiful. I didn't expect dark when I read the blurb but I got it and loved it so much.
Ammy just wants one thing... for Dash to love her forever!
The thing is... He already does... and he is wrecked by his past and his love for her.
Dash and Ammy have a long road ahead in this story... but I literally could not put it down.

Once again I’m in an Ella James book hangover and it’s delicious!!!! I fell completely in love with the protagonists, Amelia and Dash. Their lives were intertwined with fate from the moment they met with his ‘messy brown hair and sun-kissed skin’, her impulsive flight and lost glasses, and the perfect nickname he gives her on the spot.

The story begins very sweet with just the right amount of pull to keep you reading. Then, all of a sudden you are 40% finished with all the tiny threads of awesomeness hitting the fan, and you sit back thinking “Hold on a second here. There is SO much more to this story than we have in our hands!” RIGHT THERE is when that beautiful Ella James angst begins sparkle in the light. Amelia gets even stronger, Dash slowly becomes more transparent and you stay awake reading just to find out what happens.

While a good author keeps my interest, a great author makes me think beyond the last page of the book. Through the story of The Boy Next Door, I have learned the concept of Amor Fati, the love of one’s fate. While it was woven into the very fabric of the story-line, it wasn’t until the conclusion when I was able to reflect on Amelia and Dash to see how Amor Fati grew and became accepted in their lives.

The story of Amelia and Dash is filled with wanting, tension, and a growing relationship filled with chemistry – really hot chemistry (think: cars, office, closets, balcony….). I love how characters are intertwined together and we get glimpses of Amelia’s friends from Crown Jewels. Every moment of this book was a fantastic ride which you’ll enjoy. But really, why are you reading my review? Go read the book!!!

I’m not even sure how to start this review because The Boy Next Door by Ella James is simply indescribable. It’s an emotionally powerful journey that has reached down deep into my soul and jumbled my mind. I feel scrambled up in the most exquisite ways because this novel had such a significant impact on me. Ella has created and provided readers with a truly sensational story that everyone needs to experience.

For the first time in a long time, I am going to love up on the heroine first. Amelia, Am, Ammy… whatever you want to call her, she’s fantastic. I want to be her friend so I could comfort her through the devastation of loving a guy that disappears when she needs him most. Amelia gives everything her has and hands over her precious heart to a boy that isn’t available to protect it. This girl is sensitive yet sassy, bold but cautious, and effing vivacious. At times, I actually wanted to reach into the pages so I could shake some awareness into her but that’s all part of her genuine appeal. Amelia made me sob, laugh, and curse – almost always at the same time – but most of all, I want to wrap her up in a hug.

Dash Frasier… the Big D, he’s quite the fellow. His character has so many layers and different faces that it took quite awhile to get an understanding of him. Dash is complex and dynamic with so much hidden beneath his sexy surface. There were points in the story where he broke me apart into tiny little pieces but that was necessary so he could put me back together again. This man, he is someone you will not forget and that is why Amelia never got over his vanishing act. Dash will alter your standards on fictional men and soon, we will all be fighting over him.

ALL THE FEELS! I’m still shaking a bit just reminiscing about this wild adventure. You get pain and grief, heightened happiness, seductive heat, beautiful romance, overwhelming frustration, and plenty of delicious drama. You all better hold on!

Pretty sure almost every page has a quote highlighted because the writing is just that amazing. I wanted to remember every perfectly described detail and monumental word. This is angsty romance at it’s finest, you guys. By the second chapter, I was crying and I NEVER tear up while reading anymore. When I reached halfway, my chest felt tight and my skin erupted in goose bumps because the tension was so extreme I could feel it everywhere. The climax is so freaking surreal I had to take several moments to collect myself before I could continue reading. This is a novel you don’t want to miss.

The Boy Next Door by Ella James is without a doubt one of my top reads of 2017 and has a safe spot in my all-time favorites. READ THIS BOOK!

Una storia il cui inizio mi aveva dato buone speranze;le ho perse nella seconda parte. Il personaggio femminile piuttosto contradditorio tra azione e pensieri;quello maschile decisamente più coerente.Mi sono leggermente annoiata....

The theme of the story, which is Dash's past, is not something I usually read in romance book. And I do like the author put it as the theme of this book.

I wish that the author can do more exploring the impact of it on Dash. But I don't see it here. Instead, the resolution of it, is fast and forced. I also feel the Author wasting time on exploring how Amelia trying to coax Dash to tell her his past. It feels dragging.

I do not want to tell more of the story because it will be spoiler. Overall I really do enjoy this book.

I had things to do, but I just couldn't stop reading until the last emotion-changing page! Ella James never fails to grab my heart & mind and twist them. I love her story lines and writing style. Twists & turns, with the perfect amount of steam... This book had me begging for answers, and applauding when it was over. Emotions definitely ran the gamut... Thank you, Ella James!

I think this is the book I have been looking for, for the last few weeks, something that grabs me.
Our Hero and Heroine, have been friends since Amelia literally fell into Dash's pool when she was six.
We start with the now, and the book flicks back and forward so we get an idea of the life the two have had.
Amelia lost her mom, when she was only young, and her dad has moved her into a new home, one she doesn't want to live in, and so she runs..... right into the swimming pool of the boy next door, Dash! He is her hero, and although she is only six, and he nine, the attraction begins.

Our couple are best friends, along with Dash's sister Lex. They seem to do everything together, but as they age, Dash seems to be and more reluctant to take things further with Ammy.
Dash promises to keep in touch when he leaves for college, but in all the time he's gone, she barely hears from him, until the night of a party that she doesn't want to be at. She's trying to escape her shitty date, and who does she run into? Dash,.... and Ammy talks him into going all the way. Oh, that naughty girl! Although Dash wants this with everything in him, he is still hesitant, not only because of Ammy's age, but something else keeps holding him back.. what is he not telling Amelia?

“Just trust me. I’ve got my reasons for not staying
close. It’s not that I didn’t think about it, that I didn’t—you
know…want to.”

Over the next few years our couple lose touch, until Amelia is given the chance of a job helping on a new animated film. Who is her new partner/boss??
And so the on again off again relationship revives itself. Dash is still reluctant to take things any further than a quickie here and there, until the natural path of things takes over, and they begin spending more time together. There is still always that reluctance from dash though.
What is this young man hiding? So many things were going through my head, but when it finally dawned on me...... Well, Hell, I didn't see that one coming!

dash and Amelia, are both great characters in their own way, Dash was so caged by what had happened to him, and so convinced that Ammy wouldn't understand, that it nearly ruined him. he hadn't had a great upbringing, even though the family were not poor, they just obviously had no clue on how to bring up children.
There is a lot happens in between the romance, which I won't put into this review due to spoilers.
Eventually our couple overcome all the hurdles they have thrown at them, and of course get theur HEA.
I was pleased to see that Ella didn't just "abandon" Ammy's dad, and we find he too gets a HEA, so two for the price of one!!

This was a great story, one that held my interest, even though I wasn't able to read it in one sitting, like I wanted to.
Great job Ella, and team!!

Dash is dashing. He had me when he found Amelia's glasses at the swimming pool. I want to be his Dove and I will make cute little coo noises whilst I play with his hair, and rub his abs.

Dash also broke my heart into little pieces. Then I wanted to pull his hair and punch him in the stomach. I love me a hipster so I forgave him.

I am a sucker for boy next door/childhood friends to lovers stories and bearing in mind the title of the book is The Boy Next Door, it really does do what it says on the tin, but with a little mystery thrown in for good measure (I guessed the mystery but I am part Miss Marple part Inspector Morse).

Over dramatized and the big WOW issue was totally abused and overplayed. I was expecting something way worse and perhaps life-threatening. Nope - nothing readers haven't read often. I wasn't really into either of the main characters. I felt a sad moment or two. Another classic case of keeping your mouth shut when a little conversation would go along ways to settling so much in such a short amount of time. Not really what I was expecting. Disappointing.

Heart broken Amelia Has tried to move on from her childhood crush, but when she suddenly has to work with him is she going to be able to forgive and forget?

Let me start with my emotions on Dash were all over the place. I started off liking him and then I seriously wanted to punch him, but then of course I was back to liking him. When his big secret came out my heart broke for him.

The angst was powerful and Amelia's love for Dash was unstoppable. The only thing I would have changed was I wish Amelia would have tried to make him jealous. I can see why some might think she was a push over when it came to Dash, but I see it as never giving up on the love of her life.

Emotional. Passionate. Angsty. Hot.

The first book in this series Crown Jewels, was a bit OTT for me. The Boy Next Door was this perfect mix of young love and second chance romance. There is angst. There is passion. There are so many emotions that are all over the place that I started to feel like I needed a Xanax. It's hot and it's tempting. There's a bit of mystery and secrets that's are floating around, and it's entertaining to see these characters get to their truth and what seems like their inevitability. No this story isn't pretty all of the time, but I feel like the ugly parts add to it well and make the story that's told stronger.

If you're looking for emotional, passionate, angsty, and hot. Then The Boy Next Door should be your next read!

***ARC Provided by the Author and The Next Step PR***

I really enjoyed this book, a lot. It definitely can be read as a standalone, as somehow I managed to not read the 1st title in the series, not sure quite how that happened, but other than some minor updates as to where the characters are now, it is not necessary to have read it.

Dash and Amelia grew up together, as neighbors, the kind that see a lot of each other. And, then he leaves for college. When he comes back, they have a hot night together...and then things happen and their relationship ends there until a few years later, where most of the story takes place.

There is heat between them, but Amelia doesn't feel that she can totally trust Dash, and Dash doesn't feel that he is worthy of her. You know there is something Amelia doesn't know, and something that the reader doesn't know, but that he feels he has a reason to not want to dirty her with being with him.

There is a secret, and in this case, it has to be a secret revealed at the end. There are secrets that color the relationship, such as when one person lies about who they are, that need to be revealed early in the story or you lose, as a reader, the ability to trust and like the characters and their motives.

The secret Dash carries is different. It's a secret that could pull apart a new relationship (or one that he and Amelia have that is a second chance to start new) and it is one that he carries, one that he is embarrassed about, and one that ultimately he is not responsible for. Willing, arguably. But not responsible. Dash feels shame, and guilt with the secret, so he needs to be able to trust Amelia before he is really able to open up. And, when you find out what the secret is, it all makes so much sense and the scenes around the secret and the reveal are handled really, really well and you are ok with it, at least from the standpoint of believing that their relationship could move on from it.

Dash and Amelia were wonderful together. They balance one another, and the relationship they have from their shared past is a bond that you are not able to break, which is a good thing. You sense his attraction to her from the beginning, you can tell that he is holding back, that he wants more with her, but feels that he can't go there.

The sex is hot and passionate, but also advances the story as they become more intimate with one another, they also start to open up to one another. The progression of their relationship is obvious as the intimacy in their physical and emotional connection changes and heightens. This was a second chance romance, but what they built on was a past affection that draws them together now as the people they are today.

The book is well written with a well constructed plot and characters that you like. The pacing is strong, and the secondary characters enhance the story. There is a good balance with the secondary characters, and the flashbacks, with the things that happen now.

If you are new to Ella James, you can start here with no problem. If you aren't new, this book gives you exactly what you expect from this author and it is a pleasure to read.

OMG!!! I am in complete book hangover and I just finished it! What can I say about Dash and Amelia??? Dash is the book boyfriend you take home to impress mom but wins dad over in the process.
Without giving too much away, Dash and Amelia grew up together and were best friends with Alexia, Dash's sister. As some childhood friends know, as they grew up, they drifted apart.

Fast forward a few years and Amelia now in college has a summer internship. Walking in on her first day she is met face to face with Dash. Will they be able to fight their mutual attraction or will they give in? What caused them to drift apart?

Ella James did it again with keeping me up all night reading and wanting to know what will happen next. You will not be disappointed in The Boy Next Door!!!

The Boy Next Door by Ella James was a heart squeezing read that had me hooked from page one. If you like "the feels", this book has them all. I read it in one sitting, because I just couldn't put it down.

I love the unexpected twists Ella gives us in her books, and this one didn't disappoint. Dash and Ammy will break your heart, make you laugh, and piss you off all in the same chapter. Though both can be read as standalones, The Boy Next Door is an excellent follow up to Crown Jewels, book one in the series.

The Boy Next Door was a beautiful story that seemlessly blends past and present
moments between Ammy and Dash. I loved every bit of it. Ella James takes you back to a time of innocence, young love, secrets and dreams. With her descriptive words you feel the breeze, see the stars and feel your heart break. The present will draw you in and captivate you. My gawd Dash is so delish! The chemistry between Ammy and Dash is off the charts and their journey to overcome the past is beautiful and tragic. This is definitely a book you will not be able to put down once you start.
