My history with Alex goes way back. Back to before the fame and groupies and wild tours. Before he was the lead guitarist for Unrequited. We’ve known each other for a decade and have been at odds for a good portion of it.
When I need Alex’s help, he jumps in with both feet, volunteering to be my fake boyfriend at an old friend’s out-of-town wedding.
Where my ex-boyfriend will be. The man I thought I’d marry one day.
I’m going to the wedding for closure, but what I didn’t count on is how my eyes are opened to who Alex Murray really is. Or that the act we’re putting on isn’t an act at all.
I have loved every book in this series and Dissonance was no exception. I would call this a grumpy/sunshine with the hero being the sunshine and the heroine being the grump.
Alex and Yael met when they were teenagers. This stories very much friends to enemies to lovers and I love these type of reads. Throughout the series you could always tell there was some sort of tension between Yael and Alex but I never knew why. Getting some of their past chapters answered some of these questions.
Watching these two finally get it together and fall in love was the best part of this book. Alex is amazing and Yael was a great match for him. I love how much they love each other. This was another great read by Julia.
Fact: The elusive Murray is a strange and yet wondrous creature.
Fact: Murray's are also known to be extremely sweet and thoughtful, unbeknownst to them.
Fact: Alex Murray is my new book boyfriend.
Okay let's get to the good stuff! I have eagerly awaited Yael and Alex's story. The tension between them in prior books had me wondering what had happened that made Yael so cold to Murray. I figured they had BIG history but I never would have guessed there was enough history to fill a museum!
Without spoiling any moment of the story I can tell you that I didn't see Yael and Murray's past being so complicated. That being said I absolutely adore them!! Putting them in a situation that results in a fake relationship was the BEST IDEA EVER. Making them attend a wedding? It's the icing on the cake! 😍
Yael is easily one of my favorite h's. I loved watching her grow and discover her true self over the course of the book. I really feel as if her and I could have an amazing friendship. Her relationship with Mo is still as strong as ever and I'm so happy they have each other.
As for Alex Murray, I'm laying my claim. He's mine. I don't want to share! Alex loves with all his heart and I love how honest and straightforward he is. He's truly genuine and wears his heart on his sleeve. He loves his father and friends so fiercely that he will drop everything for them. His relationship with his father is particularly special and had my heart bursting with love for them both.
Yael and Murray's story is complex and messy. It's also laugh out loud funny and sexy as hell. The witty banter and sweet moments I love from Julia shine bright in Dissonance. The road to their happily ever after is bumpy but well worth the drive. I'm sad to see this series end but so excited for what Julia has in store for 2021!!!
So I’ve been waiting for Yael and Murray. Why? Because there was so much anger and angst that I knew there HAD to be a lot of history between them. And I was NOT disappointed. I was a little surprised by how angry I was at Mo and Murray a few times because I love both of them, but Yael and her prickly exterior may be my fictional BFF. She gave as good as she got and didn’t ever stop living. Even when the world, or HER world, threatened to crush her. The very fact that she and Mo needed no big “we’re good” moment proved to me just how much love they had for each other and how determined Yael could be to just feel “right” with her world again.
As for Murray, he needed to learn how to rely on others a little. For such a happy-go-lucky guy, he definitely had some issues simmering under that cool. And when he finally boils over, it’s a train wreck. He’s amazing to see angry, but he burns down anything in his path. It’s a darn good thing he knows how to rebuild that which he almost destroyed, because I’d hate to despise him. And even though Yael didn’t need the white knight, it was a thing of beauty to see Murray come strolling in on his skater shoes to slay the dragon when she needed backup.
And now I have to wonder about Diego and June. Do they get their own stories? Do they share a story in the future? Who knows, but I hope one or the other happens!
Dissonance- A lack of harmony among musical notes- what a perfect title for this long awaited rockstar romance, but another definition fits as well- a tension or clash resulting from the combination of two disharmonious elements. Yael Aronson and Alex Murray are the epitome of these elements. If you are like me and the many other fans of Julia Wolf's brilliantly written stories, then the curiosity of what the 'hey' was going on between them had to be killing you too!!!
The series name- Unrequited, speaks volumes for Yael and Murray/Alex, as nuggets of their tumultuous relationship are heartbreakingly told through both of their POV's, gravitating between the first time they met with hearts in their eyes at 16 and moving on to what's happening between them ...or not, years later. There were layers upon layers of history with youthful misunderstandings and missed opportunities that festered and burned over time. Their connection couldn't be denied, even if the tides of their feelings could churn wildly in any given direction when Yael and Alex were together.
I'll admit to not being a big fan of Yael's in the beginning, but as the story progressed, my heart began to thaw towards her as I couldn't help but SEE the real, humorous and beautiful parts of her- her love for brother Mo, his wife and of course, sweet baby Simone. She tried to hide her insecurities by cloaking herself in spiky armour and sass, to protect her vulnerable heart from scrutiny and rejection.
Alex Murray- this sweet, kind, patient man got under my skin, right from the beginning. His wonderful sense of humor was unexpectedly sexy but that was only part of his charming, one of a kind personality. Alex had an unflappable spirit- strong when it mattered for the ones he loved most- as a son or a friend that could always be counted on. He saw Yale behind the walls she built, knew her more than anyone else did, always hoping for her to see him too. All this and so much more made Alex Murray my undisputed favorite character in the Unrequited series to date. It would take an army to knock that crown off his head for me!
What an emotional, loop de loop, skyscraper sized rollercoaster ride Dissonance was! My heart and soul took quite a beating, nearly stopping at times for how badly I wanted to shake Yael and Murray, urging them in my mind to just let go, forget their fears and take what could be their forever and hold on to it for dear life!!! BUT, all of that angsty pounding made me know one thing for certain- Dissonance was, hands down, the best book in the Unrequited series, in my opinion.
Yael and Alex may have taken the long way around on the bumpy road to their HEA, but it made the outcome so much sweeter than I could have ever imagined when I opened this book. So many wonderful, touching, swoonworthy moments were waiting to be unwrapped and discovered here in this quirky couple's complex story!!! The returning presence of beloved, old friends and additional, interesting new ones, filled their story with humor and tears, but that's exactly what I've come to expect and treasure when diving headfirst into a new book by Julia Wolf. What she has created in this piece of 5 star magic, is another heartwarming tale, with bits and pieces of her readers hearts tucked inside for good measure.
My thanks to the author for the opportunity to read and honestly review an advanced copy of this book.
Two households, both alike in dignity, In fair New York, where we lay our scene, From ancient grudge break to new feelings and beginnings...
Move over Romeo & Juliet, Murray and Yael are in the house. Definitely two star crossed lovers who’s family and past conspire against them to keep them apart.
I finished Dissonance at 2am this morning, not only did the eCopy draw blood, (I dropped my kindle on my face whilst reading in bed), it also made my pillow wet with a few shed tears!!
A beautiful book by Julia, Alex is such a gentle giant.
And what did they used to say at high school?? The one you pick on and tease the most, is in fact, the one you really, really like!!
Having read the two previous Unrequited novels it was great to finally read the background to the animosity between Murray (Alex) and Yael.
Ever the hopeful romantic this is everything you want in a romantic novel.
I am sitting down now to attempt to write a review for this book. I have been sitting on this one for a couple of weeks now, but I find it really hard to come up with words to fully express everything that this book is. From the very beginning of this series I have anxiously awaited Yael and Alex (Murray's) story, even before I knew for sure that this was the route that Julia was going to take us.
From book one in this series (Unrequited) you could honestly just feel the tension going on between these two characters in the background. You just knew there was some kind of history there, you just didn't really know what had happened to get them to the point where it seemed they couldn't stand to be in the same room together, while at the same time you just felt like they both wanted to jump each other and rip each other's clothes off.
This book was everything beautiful and messy and perfect. When I first finished reading it I immediately wanted to jump in again. Yael was what one might call prickly or even rude, but inside she just wanted what everyone else wants - to be loved. Her story was really rather heartbreaking. The love that she had for Alex from the very first time they met was so obvious, but it definitely did not come easily. Misunderstandings and a whole mess of other things kept her from admitting how she truly felt.
And the way that Alex freaking Murray loves her so selflessly.... I mean, gah....He is just the sweetest Hero. He just wanted her to be safe, loved and happy - even if that meant that it wasn't with him. He only ever wanted what was best for Yael. He is a truly beautiful soul.
Julia's books never disappoint me, but this one is definitely one of my top reads of hers. I'd even venture to say that it's one of my top reads of 2020. This book had just the right amount of laughter and tears for me. Julia will always be a must read author for me.
This book can definitely be read as a standalone, BUT I highly recommend that you go back and read the first two books in this series (Unrequited and Misconception) as Yael and Alex both appear in both of those.
This author blew me away with Alex Murray and Yael’s story as she consistently writes beautiful and engaging novels that have interesting storylines that leave me with a smile on my face. The way this author weaves together their story is quite remarkable as I feel like these characters are tangible with their likable personalities and flaws - thus making them easy to identify with. Dissonance is an exceptional read that I positively devoured and I am already gearing up for a re-read because I loved it that much!
This book contains all of my favorite romance tropes - rockstar romance, frenemies-to-lovers, fake relationship, and brother’s best friend. I found myself fully immersed in the story right from the first page. This is perhaps my favorite book in the Unrequited series as I was able to really connect with both Murray (Alex) and Yael as their story was written in such a way that I felt as thought I was physically present in the book.
I absolutely ADORED Murray. That man just had me swooning and laughing. Can I claim his as my book boyfriend? It truly is impossible not to love Murray’s character as he is goofy, charming, and just scrumptious. He has such a huge heart, but he also has his faults that he must overcome. As for Yael, this woman is full of snark when it comes to her interactions with Murray and she is quite the firecracker. This is a woman that I would love to be friends with and have in my corner. The author did a spectacular job with character growth as Yael finds herself on the unexpected path to self discovery.
Now let’s talk about these two together. Oh goodness they certainly knew how to push each other’s buttons. I would say that their relationship was a bit more along the lines of frenemies rather than complete enemies. Murray is long time best friends with Mo who is both the lead singer of Unrequited and brother to Yael. I didn’t realize how involved their history was and the author did a superb job illustrating just how complex their past was; how much this has shaped their interactions with other; and how entertaining it was to witness their tumultuous relationship evolve into something more. The witty banter and sarcasm as well as Murray’s zany antics made this a fun read that had me laughing several times throughout the book. The intense chemistry and connection nearly melted my kindle and left me often times fanning myself.
Dissonance is a rockstar romance that has that perfect combination of sweetness, steam, humor, and drama. The book moves at a great pace, the characters are well developed, and the story is interesting. It was a treat to see some of the characters from the previous books as I love this series so much! If you haven’t read the earlier novels, do not fear as this book can be read as a standalone. If you are looking for the perfect rockstar romance, then be sure to check out Dissonance and this author’s other works.
I voluntarily read an early version of this book. All thoughts are my own.
Dissonance couldn't have been more perfectly named because it is the epitome of Yael Aronoson and Alex Murray's relationship. They are in a constant state of disharmony, running in parallel lines that would never meet. When I began the Unrequited series I always wondered what was the deal between Yael and Alex. What was the story behind their mutual dislike for each other? They always seemed to be in a fude that refused to die. What Julia Wolf delivered, was so beyond what I expected and more than I could possibly hope for! At 16 we meet a young Yael and Alex Murray with stars in their eyes. His are for the "cool girl " who's the perfect blend of strange and exciting. Her's are for the quirky skater boy who seems too sweet and wonderful to be real. In another life they might have been best friends. In the reality of this one, they are more like oil and water. Always colliding and separating, never blending harmoniously. Since their youth and over time Alex and Yael have had years of miscommunication and missed opportunities left to fester forever altering the course of their relationship. It seems as though things will never change between these two but, when Yael needs a huge favor from Alex, maybe this time he can finally be that best friend he always promised Yael he'd be and so much more. This book was a rollercoaster of emotion and feelings! There was so much depth and raw honesty to Yael and Murray's characters. It was sheer brilliance to have them pretend to be in a fake relationship with each other and finally hash out all of those years of pent up feelings. It's said that in order to hate, you have to care. You have to feel. Well, these two live to hate each other with a passion and I loved every moment of watching them break down each other's walls. Finally seeing the truth behind them. Alex and Yael's story is one hell of a ride that you won't want to miss! Julia Wolf has outdone herself once again creating an incredible story with characters you can't help but become completely invested in. I have nothing but ABSOLUTE LOVE for this series and it's characters! This book is unbelievably good and I can't recommend this author enough! Everything she writes is utterly phenomenal and I can't wait for her next one!
*I was generously given an ARC copy of this book by the author for an honest review *
Holy Moses! (geddit fans??) Julia Wolf’s story telling is just getting better and better. This latest novel, Dissonance (Unrequited Series, #3) is her best work to date. Yes, I said the same thing about Rocked which she released previous to this book, but it is true. This book is even better!
This is seriously one of my favourite books of 2020. It is so good that I want to go back and read ALL of Julia’s Rockstar books again… and with the size of my TBR, that is saying something.
The relationship between Alex and Yael is so complex and intriguing. This book was genius in how snippets of their history were exposed, giving the reader the understanding behind their reactions.
This is particularly true during the most beautiful ‘meet cute’ flashback when they were 16. I absolutely adored this chapter, particularly as it was from Alex’s POV.
I loved how Alex and Yael had their own style of talking, their own language. It really helped to immerse you into their lives and story. You want to know them, be friends with them, be that cool. You want to have your own relationship with someone where you have that quirky bond.
This book is just beautiful. It tugs at your heartstrings and you will probably cry. Alex and Yael’s relationship is so whimsical, even with their turbulent past and chaotic present, that you find yourself constantly swooning and clutching your heart. I was also shocked numerous times in how the characters responded to certain events, particularly Yael. She is so different and unpredictable I love her; such a weird combination of confident, feisty and insecure.
Yes, there were times when as a reader you almost want to shout, “just talk to each other!”, but with how well the characters thoughts and emotions are conveyed you begin to understand why this hasn’t happened and you get over it very quickly. This is the ‘Enemies to Lovers’ trope at its best.
This novel is part of the Unrequited Series, and your experience would be enhanced if you read the rest of the series (particularly Yael’s strong words and feelings towards Alex), however I honestly think that this book would also work as a standalone, the storyline and characters emotions are just that strong.
I can not recommend this book enough. I have a new book boyfriend and a massive book hangover, but I want to read it all over again. Dissonance is brilliant!
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
This was ... AH! Where to start?!?! Ok, first of all, I loved every damn minute of this book! Its by one of my favorite authors, seriously I don't think she's written anything I haven't liked, I just LOVE her flawed characters. The details she gives them makes them feel so real to me. I've loved Yael in her appearances in other books and I'm SO glad she gets her own here. She is SO relatable! There is so much in her make up that we've all felt in our own lives. The people pleaser in her struck a chord with me but I love that she had that strong backbone when fighting for others. And Alex, what can I say? I have a weak spot for softies and those who use humor to distract and deflect. They are just so sweet and I'm glad they both figured everything out between them without any bloodshed lol. Just an all around great book that will leave you sighing and daydreaming.
THIS BOOK HAS ALL THE FEELS!!! I loved this story so much! Although this is a standalone, I had previously read the other two books in Julia Wolf’s Unrequited series. I had seen glimpses of Yael and Alex and I was excited to see where this book would lead. It did not disappoint! I love a strong female lead who takes no s**t and gives as good as she gets. Alex is such a hottie- his and Yael’s chemistry is off the charts The push/pull angst throughout kept me wanting more.!! I also really like how Julia Wolf develops her characters in back story chapters that gives us perspective on why each character feels the way they do in the present. These characters have so many layers, it’s like peeling back a sweet Vidalia onion. You laugh, you cry, and smile because of the sweet... I want more. Highly recommend. ❤️

This book was amazing!! I gave read everyone of Julia's books and they just keep getting better and better. I could feel the love between Alex and Yael through the whole book
I have been waiting to hear about Alex and Yaels story for what feels like forever. Julia didn't disappoint. Not only did I full on fall for Alex Murray but I found that I finally understood Yael. Their love-hate is strong but their story is one that will have you swooning. Theirs is officially my favorite of the Unrequited series.
I've loved all of Julia's books. She's a one-click author for me and until now, while Tali's story momentarily took the #1 slot for my all time Julia book and Ian's story came close, Unrequited has held that title throughout my binge reading of all of her books. I didn't think I could love any couple more than Maeve and Santi.
Until now.
Dissonance is officially my favorite Julia book.
I read this book with a grin on my face and a swollen heart in my chest. I've been waiting for this one for as long as I've been reading her books. How could you not, right? The angst, the sniping, the sassy, silent rage - we all needed to know what their deal was and Julia didn't disappoint.
The sarcasm, the witty banter, the every-day-ness and the love and emotion between the covers (of the book and their bed, obvs) it was next level. I couldn't put this book down until I'd read every word and now I want to read it all over again.
I loved everything about their journey together, but I loved Yael's journey of self discovery a little more still. Realizing her inner strength and overcoming her own demons - walking that path with her, was powerful and raw.
Did I mention that I loved it? Cause I totally loved it. If you haven't read Julia's books yet, you should totally get on that. They're worth it.
“I’ve never wanted to be like everyone else to you.”
Yael and Alex FINALLY! I feel like I’ve been waiting for their story forever and it did not disappoint. I knew there had to be a history behind Yael’s dislike of Alex, but I didn’t know just how complicated it would be.
Since we’ve known Yael and Alex, they have been at each other’s throats although I’ve always sensed that there was something simmering beneath the surface. When Yael is invited to her college roommate’s wedding where her ex will be attending, Alex offers to be her fake boyfriend and Yael accepts. As they begin spending time together, they begin to let down their walls and their angsty, beautiful story unfolds.
Yael is a complicated creature. While she’s bold and brash and confident, she’s also very unsure of herself and has mile-high walls around her heart. She hides who she truly is from everyone but Alex. Her feelings for Alex have always been complicated and intense and she’s afraid of them.
Alex Murray is my favorite member of Unrequited. He’s goofy, sweet, funny, and has a beautiful soul. He’s also an intensely private guy who always wants to be there to support others but has a hard time letting others be there to support him. He has always shown up for Yael even when she’s pushing him away.
I absolutely loved these two together. Their past was messy, hurtful, and so, so much deeper and more complex than we could have guessed. Once they let down their walls and finally start communicating, they both transform and it’s wondrous to watch.
Dissonance might be my favorite book in the Unrequited series. I’m sad to come to the end of this series. Each book has taken me on a journey that I won’t forget.
From the moment I finished Unrequited, I had to see Alex Murray have his own love story. What Julia Wolf gave me was beyond my expectations and fulfilled my HEA dreams to overflowing. Yael and Alex met before Unrequited became anything more than a hope, before Mo and Murray became best friends and before they had even had thoughts of love in their young adult brains. Both are drawn to each other like magnetic forces and neither wants to be separated, but all good and perfect things can't be so forever. Life is about expirence and on that journey you will always find hurt laced within feelings that are unexplainable. You find out why Yael acts the way she does and see the impact that has on Alex growing up. I truly cannot say more without giving away all of the good stuff, my heart is all glow and sparkles with Dissonance. Everyone needs an Alex in their life, no matter how they get him. What you see in the other novels is only a few layers of this wonderful man with a heart of gold. And Yael isn't what she seems as well. As her own layers peel back, you fall for for this tough girl a little bit more.
The story of Yael, Mo’s twin sister, and Alex Murray, the guitarist for Unrequited just keep Julia Wolf‘s books climbing up the charts for awesome Rockstar romance reads! Julia Wolf can bring it all together in ways that wring your soul inside out but leaves you with a HEA that makes the read worth the lack of sleep to read to the last word written.
These two are frenemies that grew up from tweens to be the same circle of friends due to the band Unrequited. Due to a need to let her ex not think she is a loser she talks Murray into going with her as her fake boyfriend to the wedding. Murray wants 3 weeks of pretend dates, so they can carry off the girlfriend /boyfriend without a hitch at the wedding.! The humor of pickled---k, special brownies with the ladies! Ahhh it just keeps getting better! Their special moments, unshared with anyone but themselves build until explosive heat sizzles and crackles with encounters that melt you right into the pages. The beautiful song that Murray writes with Yael in mind brings me tears to see his exposed heart that only wants a chance. Here is just a snippet:
They look at us and they don’t see Everything this girl has done to me She stripped down to the studs And when she looked at me, my heart went thud My beat-up heart became hers as well Oh yeah, my ol’ ship had already sailed
We’ll find a place in the stars The blinding light is only ours
The truth is, they might never see How much this girl means to me Time and time again, we tried Who’s to say we’ll get it right this time Only thing we can do is keep on the tracks With the sun on our face, the past at our backs
This story is sweet, amusing and Hot! the H/h had loads of chemistry. I loved Alex Murray from the previous books, and I was excited to read his and Yael’s story. When they first meet as teens they deal with past hurts, feelings of inadequacy and disappointments by hiding their real emotions inside which leads to a love/hate relationship over the next 10 years.
A chance meeting with Yaels college friend has her panicking and telling her that Alex is her boyfriend and that he is going with her to her friends wedding where Yaels ex boyfriend will be. Even though they have hung out together over the past decade, the wedding venue is where Alex and Yael start to let down their shields and get to know each other as adults and dig thru the past misunderstanding.
I love each of Julia Wolfs books, but this was one of my favorites. This book is part of the Unrequited series and its best if you read the previous books, but if you don’t there are not too many spoilers for the previous books. It was nice to see the other members of the band and where they are in their lives.
I was eagerly awaiting this story and it certainly didn't disappoint at all. I was pulled in pretty much straight away. I loved the whole thing from start to finish and I was very disappointed when it ended as I could have happily read more. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend you read this story.
Alex and Yael's story started when they were teenagers, as friends but quickly turned into a love hate relationship which lasted for years. Until the day something changed and they slowly began to realize that they need to be honest with themselves as well as each other about their feelings. Feelings they were denying for years, giving it every other name but the truth. This story is such an emotional rollercoaster, it lifts you up, throws you down, have you in tears and leaves you drained from all the emotions. I just love this series and their story just may be my favorite, competing with Maeve and Santi. Julia Wolf is one of my favorite authors, she has a way to grab your attention from the word go, draws you in and not letting go until you read the last word. And even then, I am clamoring for more. The characters are larger than life and remain in one's memory, long after the reading's done. I received an ARC copy and am leaving a voluntary review.
Absolutely loved this book and it's definitely my favorite!!! Alex and Yael are so amazing, stubborn, fun, and just awesome!!! Several times throughout the book I wanted to reach thru and shake them as they are so clearly made for eachother!!! The characters are perfect and the suspense is perfection!!! 10 STARS!!!
I hard-core loved this book! I feel like we've been waiting forever for Murray and Yael's book. There's so much tension, you knew it was going to be good. And it absolutely did not disappoint. There's still all the fun sassiness, but there's also understanding and love throughout the story. May be my favorite book I've read this year!
If you like rockstar romances, you should definitely be reading Julia Wolf! This is the 3rd book in her series about the band Unrequited. And if you’ve read the first two you’ll know that lead singer Mo’s sister Yael (his assistant) and his best friend and lead guitarist Alex Murray do NOT get along. If you’ve ever wondered why (cuz everybody else loves Murray) you are about to find out. I love how this book goes back & forth between present and past, as well as between both characters points of view. When Yael needs a date to wedding where her ex will be, she foolishly tells people she’s bringing Alex. And when he actually agrees, most of their friends think one of them won’t survive the weekend trip to the Finger Lakes. How Yael & Alex deal with their past & forge a present and future makes for a great story that I absolutely feel in love with.....and I think you will too!
I’m afraid I’m going to have a book hangover for a while. This is a work of art of the truest kind. I’m overwhelmed and a little torn apart by the beauty of the love story so masterly created.
I knew there was a reason for the feud between Alex and Yael and I suspected the reason was unrequited love or a hookup gone bad but this story wrecked me in so many ways only to put me together again with light shining trough my cracks. It’s so familiar and yet so unique.
So many surprises, mixed emotions and a love story for the ages. A truth so hard to face: it doesn’t matter how good your intentions are if you hurt someone. And boy did they hurt each other. Love is tricky that way, if you don’t love you don’t risk getting hurt.
If you want to meet the sweetest guy you ever want to kick some sense into, you need this story to watch him fall for the sassyest of girls.
Dive back into the Unrequited world with Yael and Murray. Finally we get to understand why she hates him in this 2nd chance romance.
You have to throw out all preconceived ideas and let Julia take you on a ride. It is a sweet, frustrating, sexy, almost coming of age story as two people destined for each other figure their shit out. It's about timing, maturity, being open and letting go.
I love reading a Julia book because she doesn't do trite or cliche. I honestly thought i knew the reasons why or how something would go down and i was so happy to be wrong. Let yourself get swept up and just feel. The emotions are big. The struggle is poignant and you can't help but root for them.
Love spending a little more time with Maeve, Santi, Mo, Mic and Simone too.
Yael and Alex meet as teenagers, who instantly like each other. He becomes best friends with her brother Mo. Over the years Yael and Alex have lots of misunderstandings about each other, and can't quite get it together to be with other, that however, doesn't stop them from having a few secret meetings. Alex will do anything for Yael, he can't stay away from her, even when she hurts him. A truce is called, and things change for them. A sentence in the book totally summed up this story for me, "Stolen moments, pining, confusion and finally forgiveness" . Wonderfully emotional read. Love a book that takes me through a whole range of emotions. Can't recommend enough.

The definition of the perfect book. Julia continues to amaze me with her ability to write such an amazing story from start to finish. Drawing me in, making me feel every single emotions the characters are feeling. Giving them such depth and clarity. It’s nothing short of magic. I always end up saying she outdid herself but hot damn, she did it again. Yael’s and Alex’s story is perfect. It’s messy and complicated but perfect. She did them right. Side note- don’t start the book unless you’re type who can put it down and continue later. Julia has caused me to lose sleep on many nights. Always worth it!
The third book, in the Unrequited series, is yet another fabulous read from one of my favorite authors. Yael and Alex's relationship is the focus of the story. They have known each other for over a decade, but just never seem to connect. As Alex puts it, "Sometimes I think we speak two different languages. The dissonance between us is ugly and I'm I tired of it." Then Julia works her magic with words and emotions and you get sucked into the roller coaster love story that is all theirs and you will love it! I recommend this book highly.
Murray and Yael, their story had me missing meals and bed time, wow Julia, not a shock, but you’ve gone and done it again, had me hooked from the off. Loved the history of this couple, like the opposite end of a magnet never to touch then the sweetness ensues. Well worth missing sleep to finish this book.
