If anybody's reading this, we're in a little town in Louisiana called St. Maryville. It's just me, my family, and some more family down the street. And the dead. The river must be bringing them in. We can't stay where we are ... but we've got an idea. Pray we made it.
A whole new twist on the zombie apocalypse subgenre. Smith only hints at the origin of apocalypse for now, but the mystery draws you deeper.
This is, I think, the central question Smith is asking: How would mankind survive an apocalypse? Well, how did it survive the last major world-killer, the Bubonic Plague? What system held the tatters of civilization together, and would it work again?
The story is okay if a little reliant on The Walking Dead, and, as a Cajun, I can say that the author knows something about Louisiana. The biggest issue with the book is the spectacular lack of editing both for typos and spell AND content. And please, maybe on one or two pop culture references per chapter?
One star for attempting to write. More spelling errors than a fifth graders exam paper. Should have been titled "Tucker and Dale vs zombies". Horrible premise, no world building, group of crazy religious zealots that you never meet & civilization wiped out but some backwoods goobers save the day and have normal wives.
I like how the author combined Christianity and the undead in the story. This was a real page turner that had me glued. The characters, theme, setting and plot were magnificent. Great tale.
Great new twist on the zombie apocalypse. New zombie origin. New types of characters, not yet explored in ZA books. New landscape and survival methods.
The book has a good plot and characters. I really enjoyed how the chat were portrayed. I did expect there to be more deaths in a book involving zombies.
