About the author

Julie McDonald is a lifelong resident of Flagstaff, Arizona and has become the local authority on Southwest Pioneer history, and gardening in the challenging terrain of the Inner-Mountain West. Short read

Great short read. Various stories about slaves escaping. I am so glad, that there are no more slaves, but unfortunately there is human trafficing now.

These are true stories of various slaves who managed to escape their bondage in the south. With the help of the Underground Railroad, they outwitted those following them. Some used disguises, others hid in secret rooms as they made their way north - very interesting!
