Tory Chapman wants what every girl dreams of: the love of a man who would walk through fire for her. Unfortunately, her shyness, as well as being a total brainiac are not the winning formula to find Mr. Right. But she does have a knack for locating Mr. Wrong, and this time he turns out to be a cocky firefighter with a killer Australian accent.
Shane “Mick” Hall loves working with the San Antonio Fire Dept., but with his contract ending and no signs of an extension, he has to make some big decisions. San Antonio is home to him now and the last thing he wants to do is go back to Australia. With his life up in the air, he doesn’t have time to start a serious relationship. No matter how right it feels.
Thrown together to organize a joint fundraiser, Mick and Tory spend a lot of time together. Soon they can’t deny the intense attraction burning inside of them. When trouble comes knocking at Tory’s door, Mick will do everything to keep her safe. But will it be enough?
USA Today Bestselling author Nicole Flockton writes sexy contemporary romances, seducing you one kiss at a time as you turn the pages. Nicole likes nothing better than taking characters and creating unique situations where they fight to find their true love.
On her first school report her teacher noted "Nicole likes to tell her own stories". It wasn’t until after the birth of her first child and after having fun on a romance community forum that she finally decided to take the plunge and write a book.
Apart from writing Nicole is busy looking after her very own hero – her wonderfully supportive husband, and two fabulous kids. She also enjoys watching sports and, of course, reading.
Brilliant but introverted, Tory Chapman is awkward around the opposite sex, especially with a man she finds attractive, so she runs from firefighter Mick Hall at every opportunity. But when they're put together on a charity fundraiser, she can't avoid their attraction. But not everyone is happy with Tory, and she'll need her wits and her boyfriend to keep her safe.
Shelter for Tory fits seamlessly into the firefighter world of Susan Stoker. Her characters behave exactly the same in this book as they did in hers, and new characters like Tory and Mick would fit right into one of her older books. This is a great romantic suspense novel and a wonderful addition to the Operation Alpha series.
I loved Tory, although she was shy around new people she was strong and feisty with those she knew, she was also confident when it came to sex. Mick was settled and happy with his work and being in a different country than his birth, he wanted to stay even before meeting a very nervous and shy Tory for the first time. Great sizzle and sparks between this couple and great friends for introducing them. I was pleased Mick didn't push to hard and gave them time to get to know a little about each other. There is some suspense and action as a threat appears, teamwork and friends again help with support. This was gripping but mainly in a slow enjoyable read kind of way, getting to sink into the pages and just relax for the most part but then jump to the edge of your seat in a few spots. This was my first book by this author but because I enjoyed it so much I went and bought two other books as soon as I finished this. Hot fire fighters! What's not to love? Bonus is a great story worth reading. Started 17/3/21 finished 18/3/21
Shelter for Tory by Nicole Flockton is part of Susan Stokers Station 7: Crew 5, Police and Fire: Operation Alpha series which has my favorite "Exchange" Australian fire fighter Shane "Mick" Hall and Tory Chapman, Sophie's BFF. She's uber smart and runs from Mick who after meeting her wonders how can he convince her that Mick's willing to wait.
Tory always has always been shy because most guys are intimidated by her IQ but after finally meeting Mick at a BBQ and then paired by Sophie to run the Burn Unit Charity Auction could she finally tell him how she feels? But when she starts getting harassed will Mick be able to find her in time?
Mick has to convince Chief Blaise to extend his contract before it runs out because he feels like Station 7 is his family now and doesn't want to go back to Australia. First he needs to get through the next 4 weeks healing from a broken bone and planning the auction. When he realizes that Tory has the same feeling for him will he take it to the next step? Can Mick and his crew find her when she goes missing suddenly?
Loved this book hurry with Imogene's book. Come on November. No ow or om drama just the way I like to read a book. Enjoyed seeing characters from Susan's books what a nice surprise. Just a great book.
Tory Chapman is a genius, a very, very shy genius. She earned her Ph.D just before she turned twenty-one. She hadn't planned to work on burn research but now finds it quite fulfilling. Plus she works with two women who have become her best friends, Quinn and Sophie. They are both married to firefighters with the San Antonio Fire Department and that's how she met Shane "Mick" Hall. Quinn was hosting a backyard BBQ and invited her. Both Quinn and Sophie insisted she attend even though they knew that because of her extreme shyness she didn't want to go. So she showed up but really didn't want to leave the comfort and security of Quinn's house, but Quinn shooed her outside and that's when she first saw Mick. It was like a scene from one of her romance novels, a magic moment. Their eyes met and they both seemed to freeze and just stare. Tory felt like she should escape back to the house and she did just exactly that when that sexy, hunk Mick came over and spoke to her. The next day her traitorous friends set her up to work on a fundraiser with Mick. Tory and Mick set up a meeting to discuss plans for the fundraiser. Tory was shocked to find that she felt comfortable with Mick and she could relax and talk to him. They spent time together planning the fundraiser and all was wonderful - until the harassment started. She was scared to death. Mick to the rescue!
Mick Hall is a SAFD firefighter from Australia under contract. His contract was due to run out in six months but he didn't want to go back to Australia. He loved living in San Antonio and he loved it even more after meeting Tory Chapman. He was very attracted to her from the first moment they met. He never felt like this before. Getting to know Tory while meeting to plan the fundraiser helped to make his attraction grow. She was so special. When the harassment started he knew he had to do everything he could to protect Tory. He didn't want to lose her.
Shelter for Tory by Nicole Flockton is part of author Susan Stoker's Police and Fire: Operation Alpha world and is the first book in Ms. Flockton's Station 7: Crew 5 series. The plot is well-developed and the storyline is intriguing. I loved the two main characters, Tory and Mick. They just seemed perfect for each other. Mick brings out the best in Tory and Tory shows Mick how wonderful love can be. It was great getting to see the crew of firefighters from Susan Stoker's world and also to be introduced the members of Crew 5. I look forward to the stories of the other firefighters in Crew 5.
Have you ever had a day on the beach with a really good margarita? Like the sun is shining and the air is just a tiny bit breezy—not enough to whip sand in your eyes, but just enough to move the air around your face? It’s a really beautiful day and your margarita is perfect. Off to your right, a family is making sandcastles near the surf, just down the beach a set of kids are trying to fly kites, and out on the waves, you can see a couple of die-hard surfers. It’s just a really good, near-perfect day. That is exactly what Nicole Flockton’s new book Shelter for Tory is. She (the book) is the perfect day with the perfect margarita. She’s bright and airy, swirly, and sassy, with a right mix of sweet and salty.
Shelter for Tory is the first book in the Police and Fire: Operation Alpha/Station 7: Crew 5 series. This is a book connected to the Susan Stoker Operation Alpha world. If you are a fan of Susan Stoker, then you know all about Station 7. This is Mick’s story with Tory. To summarize the characters, I’d say that Mick is like your perfect beach day—he’s bright and airy. (Weird for a description of an alpha male, but it fits Mick’s personality). Tory is a margarita. She’s sassy and salty (especially after she gets to know you). And somehow the combinations mix wonderfully.
Tory and Mick’s story have a couple of darker undertones. What story doesn’t? But those clouds don’t take away the sunshine of the perfect day. And it doesn’t sour their love story. It enhances the sweet and sassy.
So to sum it up, this is truly a brilliant story from start to finish. It was so engaging, romantic, and interesting with just the right amount of suspense and action. The characters are likable and the story flowed well. I love the chemistry between Mick and Tory. Plus you also get the added bonus of being able to “catch-up” with the original Station 7 crew which is fantastic. I can’t wait to see who’s next in this fabulous series!
Shelter for Tory is book seven in The Station and one in The Crew 5 series by Nicole Flockton. Tory Chapman wanted to find love. However, Tory always finds the wrong men. Tory's colleagues roped her into helping the San Antonio Fire Dept fundraiser with Fire Fighter Shane Hall. At first, Tory did not like Shane. When strange things started to happen to Tory, Shane's protective nature stepped up, and their relationship began to change. The readers of Shelter for Tory will continue to follow Tory and Shane to find out what happens.
Shelter for Tory is the first book I have read of Nicole Flockton. I am pleased that I found another fantastic author to add to my favourite author list. I engaged with Shelter for Tory from the beginning. I love Nicole Flockton portrayal of her characters and how they interact with each other throughout this book. Shelter for Tory is well written and research by Nicole Flockton. I like Nicole Flockton description of the settings of Shelter for Tory that complimented the book's plot.
The readers of Shelter for Tory will learn about living in San Antonio. Also, the readers will learn about the problems shyness can cause a person.
Another exciting story from Nicole Flockton. She gives us a new crew from Susan Stokers Station 7 to fall in love with, Mick being one of them. Not knowing where he’s gonna be months from now he’s surprised to fall head over heels for Tory, the shy doctor/scientist. They have some challenges to overcome but love always prevails no matter who tries to stop it. Overall, this was a good read with great characters. I did notice a couple errors/typos but I was reading an ARC so it could just be my copy. The story still flowed nicely and I LOVED seeing some of Susan Stokers characters pop in to help save the day. And that little teaser at the end...😱WOW!! Saving Imogene is gonna be good. Now I just have to wait patiently till it comes out so I can find out why she did what she did.
Mick is a Firefighter from Australia working in San Antonio on a Visa with 6 months left on a contract, so he isn't looking for a relationship. Tory, Ms. Shy, attends the same cookout as Mick, she is not even wanting to be there much less meet anyone. Their first meeting did not go well to say the least. A few days later they are thrown together to handle a fund raiser for the fire department thanks to their 'friends'. The first time Mick picks her up for a dinner discussion he sees what has the potential for trouble outside Tory's building and reported it to the on duty guard. As this situation begins to escalate so does the relationship between Tory and Mick. Will Mick be able to keep Tory safe even as he returns to full duty or will the trouble overtake Tory to the end?
'Beware, sexy Aussie laugh coming, guaranteed to make you weak at the knees'
Ah! Mick and Tory are such a sweet couple, we have met Tory numerous times before, so it is lovely that she finally got her book. She is so shy in public, but I love that once it is just the two of them she is feisty, funny and gives Mick sass! The origin of Mick's nickname had me chuckling, he is a great, laid back character and so sweet and patient with Tory...he 'gets' her! Lots of crossover here with Susan Stoker's books and characters, which is always a good thing! A great read on Kindle Unlimited and book two in the series is out tomorrow...so read it now, you have time for this one before catching the new release tomorrow!
Nicole has taken us back to Station 7 and introduces us to crew 5. This is Tory and Micks story. Troy is super smart and Mick is a firefighter from Australia working with crew 5 and wants to stay in the states. After Mick gets hurt him and Tory are put in charge of the fundraiser. She's shy and he's outgoing. Someone starts to stalk Tory will they be able to find out who it is and why? I enjoyed seeing the guys from station 7 and their wife's . I liked the way Nicole used Susan Stoker's guys all through the book and the interacting of the two crews and their women. Can't wait to see where Nicole takes us in book 2.
Who is Tory? What does she do for a living? What are her hopes and dreams? Who is "Mick" and what does he do for a living? Where? Oh my, what transpires when Tory gets roped into attending a summer barbeque is a hoot! Who are the people hanging around outside Tory's apartment building? Who are Byron and Oliver? How and why do we meet them? What is going on at Tory's place? Read and see what happens! Talk about a suspenseful romance!
RECEIVED THIS BOOK AS A GIFT FOR A FAIR/HONEST REVIEW and REVIEWER FOR Bloggin' With M. Brennan.
First time reading this author and I thoroughly enjoyed reading Tory and Mick. She's a really smart doctor who is trying to find better ways to help burn patients and he is here in a work visa from swoon Australia working in the same fire house as Susan Stoker's men from Station 7 . I really enjoyed reading how Tory was able to get over some time her shyness. It was crazy what these two brothers did to others in regards to harassing them, then kidnapped them just for evil reasons. Happy reading ladies.
The wallflower finds her escape in the arms of an Australian firefighter. After meeting Mick, Tory finds her inner strength to break free of her debilitating shyness in order to work on a fundraising project with the hot firefighter. Together, they move closer to one another until their love burns bright. Nicole Flockton writes a sweet budding romance with just a tad bit of danger and suspense thrown in for good measure. An easy, enjoyable read. Good for sitting on a beach somewhere warm.
Nicole has knocked it out of the park with this one! I totally loved the story development and the suspenseful ending. You don’t want to miss out of a hot sexy Australia man firefighter playboy who meets his one true love. The problem is she’s very shy and has been living on her own since 18. She’s never depended on anyone before. She maybe reluctant to admit it but she needs him too. Read this one to find out if they can over come the obstacles standing in their way and if he can save her from an unexpected foe.
The heroine is supposed to be extremely shy, but other than the 1st meeting with the hero where her so called shyness apparently makes it impossible for her to be even socially polite and courteous, she acts like a brazen hussy around the hero. She's the one touching him and making the 1st move. Even the fact that she is super intelligent is barely touched upon; at least not as a part of the storyline. It's mentioned every once in a while - probably to remind readers since nothing about her actions would make you think she's brainy
Shelter for Tory is by Nicole Flockton. Tory just wants to be loved by someone who really cares for her. So far, her luck hasn’t been great. She and Mick are chosen to put together a fundraiser and have to work closely together. Mick is from Australia and has to make a decision on whether to stay or go back home to Australia and work with his family. When Tory gets into trouble, Mick is there to help; but is he getting too close to Tory? Will it affect his decision?
Really enjoyed the story of Mick and Tory. Liked Mick in Susan's world and Nicole did a wonderful job on his c hgt character and other susan stoker characters from Station 7. Would recommend this story, a great read and loved all the characters. It will be great to see if the other characters get there stories too.
OMG! I loved this book. Can't wait for the next one in this series. Please hurry!! I loved the family and friends togetherness. Shout out to our brave men and women in any uniform of service. Thanks, for your bravery and your unselfish service. God bless. Stay strong and safe.
Tory and Mick met at a firefighters picnic. They both looked up and for both of them the world stood still. Tory thought that only happened in romance novels, but it was happening to her. Then when he approached her she turned and ran. She was so shy, but she really was into Mick.
Loved the storyline. Shy girl meets stud. Action, drama, and a kidnapping. I gave this book 4 stars because of the typos and grammatical errors. There were more than a few sentences that I had to read more than once to understand what was being said. Otherwise 5 stars. As always keep writing and I will keep reading. Thank you.
Tory is very smart and shy. Shane is a firefighter. These two have been put together to put together an event. This is a wonderful series and I just love Operation Alpha and all of it's different authors. I received this book for free and I am voluntarily and honestly doing this review
Great story line. Strong and lovable characters. Of course a HEA ending! Some missed errors in editing but not too distracting. The male lead seemed to hover between alpha tendencies & an almost dependent personality like the writer waivered on the focus. All in all an enjoyable read tho.
This was a pretty good book. There were some errors that kept throwing me off. There was a lot of getting to know each other in the book. It took a long time for me to get to the good part. Where she was kidnapped and Mick and the others had to find her. HEA
I loved it. I was hoping Mick would get his own story and Nicole did not disappoint. I hope she continues with all the guys from Station7 Crew 5. It was nice to revisit some of the characters from Susan Stoker's Badge of honor series.
Amazing read. Love reading this series in Susan Stoker's Badge of Honor World. Love Mick and Tory. Could not put it down. Wanted more. Can't wait for the next Nicole Flockton book.
So sweet. Still....there is the mystery of why the hell Tory was soooooooo incredibly shy (or people phobic). Still she and Mick clicked together wonderfully. Bonus points for being able to revisit other characters from Ms Stoker’s world.
He was a firefighter she was a scientist who did research she was shy but overcame it he didn't want to leave the country they worked together and fell in love sizzling romance wonderful happy ending
