About the author

Masashi Kishimoto (岸本斉史 Kishimoto Masashi) is a Japanese manga artist, well known for creating the manga series Naruto. His younger twin brother, Seishi Kishimoto, is also a manga artist and creator of the manga series O-Parts Hunter (666 Satan) and Blazer Drive. Two of his former assistants, Osamu Kajisa (Tattoo Hearts) and Yuuichi Itakura (Hand's), have also gone on to moderate success following their work on Naruto.

Kishimoto's first work as a manga artist was Karakuri (カラクリ?), which he submitted to Shueisha in 1995. This earned him the Weekly Shōnen Jump's monthly "Hop Step Award" in 1996, granted to promising new manga artists. This was followed in 1997 by a pilot version of Naruto (NARUTO－ナルト－), published in Akamaru Jump Summer. In 1998, Kishimoto premiered as a Weekly Shōnen Jump artist with a serialized version of Karakuri in Weekly Shōnen Jump, but it proved unpopular and was canceled soon after. In 1999, a serialized version of Naruto began publication in Weekly Shōnen Jump and quickly became a hit.

This would have worked so much better as a manga. The story and dialogues were good but the rest of the writing was pretty simplistic. Then again this is supposed to be written by Jiraiya, a fictional character from the Naruto manga, who is possibly just not that good of a writer. I don't know, it was fun but I would have liked it to be more visual because we didn't even get the simplest thing: a description of what the characters actually look like! I guess it's just for fans of Naruto who are interested in where Minato and Kushina got their son's name from. So for that it was ok but I definitely facepalmed more than once while reading it (Why do you need to discuss your love life while you actually need to get the people out of the village before its inevitable destruction?!) and I'm not sure if I should overlook the sexism in some scenes (that was totally unnecessary!) and see it as "a fictional character wrote that so it's hopefully not the view of the author" or if I should be angry at Masashi Kishimoto (who didn't write this book but is the creator of the Naruto universe) because he regularly lets women be objectified by the characters he creates although he, on the other hand, manages to show strong women in his works. Probably the latter.

Tutte le cose del mondo girano in tondo, la forma è vuoto e il vuoto è forma.
Tutto gira in tondo, ogni cosa forma un cerchio come il serpente che si morde la coda ... in coda al bene c'è il male, in coda al male c'è il bene.
Il muryotaisu ( 10 alla sessantottesima) è la cifra maggiore di questo sistema numerico. Ciononostante, il primo carattere che compone il suo nome, mu, significa 'nulla'. E' come se le cose troppo grandi, in fondo fossero vuote ........l nehan jakujo è la misura più piccola (10 alla meno 24 è ilo riferimento al Nirvana) e rappresenta l'illuminazione, ossia la linea di confine che spezza il ciclo di volte che ci lega al mondo terreno. E' il Nirvana dove non esistono né preoccupazioni né incertezze. Capisci? Seppure sia il più piccolo si rivela essere il più grande di tutti.

It was interesting. I wouldn't name my kid Naruto after reading it, but it was good nonetheless.
Why 2 stars if it was good ? Just take Naruto (the manga) change Sakura's, Kakashi's and Sasuke's names and boom, there you have it !

Selayaknya di anime, novel ini diposisikan sebagai novel karangan Jiraiya itu sendiri. Diperkuat dengan penggambaran karakter dari ketiga tokoh utama yang serupa dengan sang Sannin legendaris. Versi terjemahannya kurang pas, namun masih okelah, masih dapat dinikmati alur ceritanya. Penjelasan mengenai jutsu-jutsu yang dipakai sangat membantu mengingat jutsu-jutsu tersebut hanya karangan (tidak ada dalam anime canonnya). Open ending, pembaca dituntut menerka sendiri bagaimana akhir sang tokoh utama. Overall, sebagai penggemar berat manga dan anime Naruto, aku puas membaca novel ini.

I'm not sure about my opinion on this. I expected a little more out of this story. It was quite bland and lacked depth. Maybe cause it had to be finished in just 1 volume. The core question of the story was important and I wanted a clearer answer. Too much symbolism kinda put me off. Otherwise it was a good and short read. (Still, since I really love Jiraiya I was disappointed that his in-manga novel turned out like this qwq)

Un 3,5 se lo porta a casa.

1. Avrebbe reso molto di più in versione manga, specialmente i dialoghi
2. È sicuramente indirizzato ad un pubblico teen o anche più giovane

Prese in considerazione queste premesse è comunque un bel libro: scorrevole, una bella trama, scene anche commoventi.

Intéressant d'avoir un livre écrit du point de vue de Jiraiya. On retrouve les éléments qui apparaissent dans le manga sur Naruto. On voit des ressemblances avec le manga qui peuvent se justifier.

Premetto che sono una fan di Naruto e probabilmente le mie aspettative erano alte, forse troppo alte! Ecco perchè probabilmente mi ha un pò deluso come romanzo. Ripropormi il rapporto Naruto-Sasuke-Sakura con Naruto-Range-Tsuyu ha reso tutto il libro un dejavu (non vorrei che anche la fine del libro ricalchi la reale fine della serie Naruto). Mi è piaciuto molto il personaggio di Shima.
Alcuni particolari sono abbastanza inusuali, tanto da lasciarti esterrefatto.
Un ninja trasformato in asino WTF?!? Una tecnica proibita che sposta le montagne?!
Non posso neanche dire che almeno il comparo emotivo ha bilanciato qualcosa. non mi sono sentita per niente coinvolta e mi sono trascinata controvoglia verso il finale.

Le roman de Jiraya c’est l’histoire d’un conflit entre plusieurs villages qui pourrait mener à la guerre, et qui suit les aventures d’un jeune ninja avec ses propres idéaux et qui essaye d’apporter la paix entre les hommes à sa façon.

C'est sensé être le livre écrit par le personnage Jiraya (dans Naruto). Il n'y a qu'une seule illustration. Le style du mangaka est très présent : des tonnes de dialogues. Seulement dans un roman sans images, les combats ne sont pas très parlants sans descriptions.

J'ai detesté ce livre qui est par contre très joli et que je garderai pour la collection.

J'ai bien aimé le roman. Lorsqu'on lis le manga, on parle tellement souvent du fameux roman de Jiraya que je voulais absolument savoir de quoi il s'agit. C'est peut-être un peu bizarre, mais les choix de noms m'on énormément déstabilisés. Ils sont très chinois, c'est un peu étrange lorsqu'on est habituée à l'univers de Naruto très traditionnel Japonais. Le co-écrivain est chinois ça vient peut-être de là. Les noms m'ont déstabilisés (comme je disais) donc j'ai eu de la difficulté à suivre le fil. On reconnait parmi les personnages les personnages de l'univers du manga naruto. Comme tout bon auteur, Jiraya c'est inspiré de sa vie pour écrire son roman, ça fait très réaliste. Le roman parle de la quête de la paix de Jiraya comme il l'explique à Nagato. Vous allez adoré si vous avez un fibre philosophique et que le personnage de Jiraya vous plais. La construction narrative est différent et plus poussé que dans les autres romans de la série naruto j'ai bien aimé.

Oui oui et re oui! Un objet livre super beau et ce livre m'a aider a comprendre l'univers de Naruto et surtout le point de vue de Jiraya sur la guerre, l'amitié voir l'amour et j'ai vraiment aimé ce livre. C'était super agréable de replonger dans cette univers.
