One heck of a mind bending story that will leave you questions your grasp on reality.

Makena Washington, at the age of twenty-four, is the youngest Fire Chief in Ventura County's history. She's worked tirelessly to become the best at her job and earn the respect of her men. Now she's been rewarded with her own personal arsonist stalker - his fires are his love notes and presents.

Coerced into a date with her mentors son, Makena and Tanner don't initially hit it off. That is until the night ends, when things explode about as fast as a five-alarm fire for all the right reasons. And just when you think everything's going well, Makena is brought face-to-face with her unwanted secret admirer resulting in detrimental consequences I never saw coming. Talk about one hell of a twist! That ending still has me confused and questioning my own sanity.

** This story was previously released as part of the Emerging Temptation anthology **

I've read a good many Yolanda Olson books at this point. As with all her others, Ghost Flowers was intriguing with a crazy ass ending. I love how she writes such crazy stories. I was pretty confused at first and honestly didn't realize there were 2 narrators. There was nothing to indicate this until a few things clued me in. That kinda messed me up. I also wish there was more depth. This was a pretty short story but overall it was interesting enough. I don't regret reading it or anything, but it also wasn't a 5 star read to me. I'm somewhere in the middle. If you like insanity, taboo, and horror, definitely pick up a Yolanda Olson book. Literally just any one of them.

This is a story about a girl. A girl who happens to be a fire investigator, and it just so happens that a fire bug is setting fires. Makena just wants to figure it out. Everyone makes a mistake, and she's hoping that will be the break she needs to solve it.
The guy setting fires has a obsession, not only does he love setting the fires, he equally loves watching Makena try to solve them. He's hoping if she does then she'll know why he's doing it. And that's where I'll stop. This one will keep you on your toes.

Holy smokes!
This story was as unpredictable as flame meeting some dried tumbleweeds on a windy day (that's another way of saying it blew my mind)

Makena is a well respected fire chief who does her job and does it well. Lately though, a series of fires have been pushing her and her crew to the brink, and Makena knows that unless she figures out this fiery puzzle, more than one thing will go up in flames.

This is a mystery thriller of a tale and not for the faint at heart!

I did not see that coming. I figured who but the ending blew me away. I would not have thought that. Ok I know I should've because it's Yolanda's book lol. But still.

Read this apart of an Anthology that was supposed to be full of romances... this is definitely not a romance. This is a book that made zero sense after the last chapter. Either I'm dumb or it was just poorly written to try and put a twist on things. How was Tanner the arsonist in the end when there were parts where it seemed like two different men? I guess that was the twist and I didn't pick up on it.

Literally it says "after seeing her with another man.." like is this man just a rando??

And he was literally watching her and who I thought was Tanner sleep together like it's a mess lol

Anyway... not a romance at all.

Fire Obsession and a Love Like Ours

Well... the twist at the end threw me for a loop. I didn't see it coming. Makena didn't see it coming... This story was packed with heat. And it was also about the twisted love that consumed one character. Go in blind. Seriously this story was worth every fiery minute.

3.5 stars!!!

Ghost Flowers was VERY interesting. Yolanda reminded me of Hansel and Gretel and was just dropping breadcrumbs throughout the story. When I got to the end I was like, Holy Shit!!!! 😱 I almost wanted to reread it to see if there were any clues that I missed, but I don't reread since there's like a GAZILLION books out there that I haven't read yet.

Ghost Flowers by Yolanda Olson

Took a break from my usual horror reads to read this gem. Lacie, thank you so much for telling me I needed to read this!! I absolutely loved everything about it! But that ending, THAT ENDING!!! I did not see that coming AT ALL!!
This was short with just the right amount of thriller/mystery.
I will most definitely check out more of her work!!!

I t could have been so good

First and foremost this is not a romance so do not go in expecting that. I feel like this story could have been so good but it just took a turn that was so disappointing. I rarely give 1 stars but this was frustrating to read.

In this story you meet Makena. Makena investigates the cause of fires and darn good at her job. There has been a recent string of fires and through Makena investiongtion, she has determine that they all have been caused by the same person. I like to call the person, Fire starter. Fire starter strikes again and is leaving clues for Makena. Is this personal or is this random? Does she solve the case or does the fire starter get the best of her? Who is the fire starter!?! Oh my! I was glued to the story. I felt like I was there with Makena as she was trying to sovle the pattern and oh my gosh....when the story got towards the end and it got all hot....DUDE!! I was also intrigued by the fire starter and why they were doing what they were doing. The story line was gripping and engulfed me.
