What do you do when you find a dead body on the beach? And what if that body turns out to be your business rival? Pretend you didn’t see it?
It wasn’t like killing Suzanna Monreal had crossed my mind. I wouldn’t do it. Honest. But if she treated everyone the way she treated me, I can’t say I’m surprised she ended up the way she did. Mean people sometimes end up dead. Just something to keep in mind.
When the chief of police makes an early morning stop by my house to insinuate that I may have had something to do with the murder, I’ve got to come up with a plan to clear my name. And my best friend and fiancé are right by my side to help me catch a killer.
Summertime and the livin’ is, well, not that easy.
This is 8th book in one of my favourite serie. It is summer and Allie and her friend Lucy find a dead body on the beach. Who is the murderer? The book is well written and has a nice and cozy atmosphere. Allie is in this book baking new delicious cakes. The book is very good and I can't wait to read next one in the serie.
Another great story in the freshly baked series. I’m never right about who did it and I am glad of that. I’m moving on to the next story in this seried
Allie has a mess when she goes to the beach for a much relaxing day with Lucy her BF. And it never got started because of what they found on the beach not far from where they set up their chairs and umbrella. Now Allie is a suspect again, by the chief of police that just doesn't like her. Now it's up to Alec to prove his ex boss wrong. The new French restaurant that opened has been a thorn in Allie's side ever since it had opened its doors. Henry's Home Cooking restaurant took a hit for awhile, but Allie kept on baking for Cynthia (Henry's wife) that took over the business when he was murdered in his own kitchen. Allie and Lucy is a Lucy and Ethel being PI's for find out who and why the crime committed to the most hated person is gone. There are so many people at Le Chemise that are suspects with great motives. You have to read for details!
As much as I enjoyed seeing that awful nemesis of Allie's get her comeuppance, this wasn't really one of the best books of the series. I noticed a whole lot of repetition that usually isn't done in this series, so I wasn't sure what was up with that. Other than if Allie said one more time that her business card was found in the dead woman's pocket, I wanted to smack her upside the head LOL! There were a few other instances too. Excessive repetition wasn't something I was used to in these books, or I know I wouldn't have read this far in the series. But I do like Allie an awful lot and chalked it up to her nervous ramblings and paranoia about being arrested for murder.
There were plenty of suspects to pick from and I know I really wanted one of them to be whodunit, but I didn't have the real one picked out. On to borrow the next book in KU!
I always love these books. In this one, I was very interested in the victim's death (I won't say why), but I felt like the ending was somehow a little anticlimactic. At any rate, I still very much enjoyed the story and the cozy aspect of it. On to the next!
