What can Christianity learn from Shamanism? What can Shamanism learn from Christianity? The conversation starts here…

I loved this book because of its project: a dialogue between a progressive Christian minister, a Christian minister practicing shamanism and a shaman. They are clever, respectful, open and give a fascinating perspective, while sharing stories that make look shamanic journeys almost normal and part of everyday reality. I received it as a contribution to interfaith dialogue, to an open way of considering Christian faith and spirituality, and as an invitation to more imagination and to more creativity in our inner lives and spiritual practices.
It was nice to tie in Christianity with Shamanism. Kudos to Daniel et al to have done this and documented it. This really has to do with the breakdown between religious and spiritual ideologies between European civilization and the indigenous. We need to gain more respect for the indigenous and spirituality.
Just not my cup of tea, or interest. But that's what book groups do - cause us to read out of our comfort zones. Based on the three authors experiences with Christianity & Shamanism, they claim they are complements, not exclusionary, ways to connect with the spiritual.
