"You've got one year to find a husband. If you haven't found one by then, I'll find one for you!"
Rose wasn't shocked by her mother's announcement. Since Rose's two older brothers had married, her mother had become obsessed with weddings. Rose wasn't against marriage; she just hadn't met the man of her dreams yet. She'd know him when she saw him. He'd be tall with broad shoulders, and he'd have dark coloring to complement her pale skin and fair, red hair. It would be love at first sight. When Jacob comes to town, Rose sees him and knows he's the one! Her hunch is confirmed when they spend every spare moment together. When Rose learns some scandalous news about Jacob, she is devastated and turns to her close friend, Mark. Mark isn't much to look at, and he's only a shade taller than she, but Mark is a man who would never let her down. Is her good friend Mark the one she should be with, or should she give Jacob another chance?
Should Rose risk trying to make something more out of Mark's friendship, or will she be risking her heart only to be disappointed again?

Rose’s mother has decided it is time to get her girls married, and Rose, being the oldest still at home, bears the brunt of her mam’s machinations. Rose has been given a year to find a husband, but has no one in mind. Her longtime friend Mark offers to be a decoy boyfriend, but when his cousin shows up, Rose decides he’s the one. This book had potential, but doesn’t really live up to expectations. Rose acts more like a backward teeny bopper, falling in love with the idea of being in love. Knowing so little about the character of her new crush, she wants to marry him without a second thought. Mark is the one sterling character in a cast of rather forgettable ones. Not a lot happens in the plot, either, but if you like reading an almost squeaky clean romance where you can pretty much guess each plot point before it happens, then this one’s for you.
Amish Rose by Samantha Price is the first book in the Amish Love Blooms series. This is a touching story about Rose Yoder, the eldest daughter of six children. Her older brother Trevor has just gotten married and Nancy Yoder, Rose’s mother, decides it’s her turn next to get married. She tells her she expects her to find a beau and be married within a year. Rose is not interested in marriage and her close friend, Mark Schumacher, and her connive a plot to tell her mother that they have been secretly courting. This works until Mark’s cousin, Jacob, comes to visit and Rose falls for him. I thoroughly enjoyed this 5-star Amish romance and am looking forward to reading the next book in the series. Samantha never disappoints and I highly recommend this book.
Rose's mother tells her it is time to start looking for a husband. Rose feels that she has all the time in the world to fall in love. If she doesn't find someone in a year then her mother will find someone for her. Rose's best friend is Mark who wants to marry her, but Rose is not sure he is the one. Jacob comes to visit Mark and Rose falls hard for him. Unfortunately Jacob has a girlfriend already who he fails to mention to Rose. After Rose has her heart broken, she realizes that Mark was the one all along. The story is very predictable!
Amish Rose is the first book written by Samantha Price in her Amish Love Blooms series. This is definetly a heartwarming love story. The author has done an incredible job of telling a story of love that was blooming right under two young Amish peoples noses.
I enjoyed the character of Rose who thought she had figured out exactly what she wanted in a husband. But were her expectations a bit a drift? The character of Mark is like the white knight syndrome. He has loved Rose forever. What happens when Marks cousin enters the picture? Will Rose ever openher eyes and find the right man? I enjoyed this storyline for many reasons but I don't want to ruin the story for others.
I was not given a complimentary copy of this book to read and review. I was not approached to post a favorable review by anyone. I have rated this book with five stars for meeting my expectations of a wonderful story that I can highly recommend to others.
Congratulations to Samantha Price for writing another amazing story for her readers to enjoy.
Delightful story of Mary wanting love, and a mother obsessed with finding a husband for her. A friend Mark, his cousin comes and she is sure he is the one, he fits what she wanted in a husband. When that love was tested, would it last. Mark has loved her forever, would he stand back and let his cousin win. A beautiful told story on audio, the narrator was excellent. Given audio for my voluntary review and my honest opinion.
A delightful beginning to this series. I love Amish fiction, and had devoured Samantha Price’s “Ettie Smith” series which are humorous mysteries. I don’t always jump into Amish romances because it seems they start sounding alike after a while. But somehow this didn’t feel that way to me. I enjoyed the characters and, though it was a little predictable and I could figure out what was going on ahead of the characters in the book, it was just a nice story. The author is really a great storyteller, and I appreciate the clean and wholesome and cozy feel to her stories.
I read this in Kindle Unlimited, downloading the whole series because the author kindly announced it would soon be removed from the Unlimited program. I did check the price now, and I think $4.99 is very reasonable for each in the series. I will continue to read mine on Unlimited though since I already downloaded them.
Great read! Keeps you on on toes, trying to see what happens next!
This story is interesting, in it has lots of twists and turns. Addresses learning to becoming aware of emotions. Who to trust and learning a hard lesson on who not to trust!! How emotions can lead an individual to deals with hurt and pain. How denial can cause an individual to be lead astray. And how when we make a hurtful decision we can recover amazingly. Start reading and hang on and get ready for a rough ride!!
I really enjoyed reading this book. In fact I haven't finished reading a book in awhile due to the lack of good quality romance novels. Of late they seem to be full of expletives, sexually explicit and/or about sassy women who don't "need a man" which in my opinion is not romantic at all! This book contrasted that very well therefore I will highly recommend it.
Wonderful job Samantha Price. A sweet story that shows us that maybe what we want is really right before our eyes. Good, clean, Christian reading. Just when you think you have Samantha figured out, she gives you a new surprise. This is my first Samantha Price book, but will not be my last. Thanks, Samantha.
I was certain I had read this book before, but remembered I enjoyed it. Yep, correct on both counts. This is a sweet and gentle story that is easy to enjoy. I liked the telling of the story even if I didn't always agree with momma. I liked the characters and the ending.
I do feel that Rose's mum was way too pushy, jacob well he was too pushy & could even be one you could say a few steps from pushing Rose in to something she don't want to do But it was a good book
As always Samantha Price gives a wonderful Amish story. Rose's Mom feels Rose needs to marry and put pressure on her. Rose feels she still has plenty of time. Plus she has not met the man of her dreams. But will he the man for her.....sometimes your best answer to love is right in front of you.
I love reading the Amish romances. This one was no exception. Rose created the image of the man she would marry and would not let go of that idea. She finds out that you can fool yourself for a while, but not forever. I really enjoyed this and hope you do, too!
This book is an easy read. It’s a well written love story about a girl that created an idea of what her husband should be, however life has other plans for her.
Samantha tells the story in a way that it keeps you engaged all the way through.
A truly gentle look at love developing between friends. Even in the setting of an Amish culture, love isn't readily recognized. Romantic dreams don't recognize who is already in our lives.
A delightful story about recognizing what is right in front of your face. A man, a neighbor, a friend which all added up to a husband! The characters were so sweet and relatable. A good story plot. I liked this book and so will you.
This was a very well written Amish romance story about a sweet Amish girl who finally realizes that her best friend is the true love she's always been looking for. It was a lovely tale that I thoroughly enjoyed and would highly recommend!
I love this book. It was different and that Rose wasn’t anxious to get married. Her mother was anxious for her to get married. The characters are wonderful.
So bad. Could barely finish. Rose was childish and selfish. Mark made me so angry. Putting up with her crap. I yelled at both of them through the whole book.
