Harper Whitney is officially divorced. Ever since she signed the papers, she’s found it difficult to believe a second love could even exist. At this point, she wonders if the first was ever real.
Besides that, everything is just dandy. Her big sister is getting married. It’s wonderful—she knows—but if one more person reminds her that she needs a plus one, she might just scream.
Enter Jensen Reed, her sister’s friend’s brother. Confusing, yeah. It’s even more confusing to Harper when he’s somehow volunteered to be her date to the wedding.
The city boy lives his life far, far away from the farm that Harper calls home. The only one she’s ever known. To make things even more complicated, she’s recently decided to dip her toes in the cesspool of modern dating. And, he agrees to help her get back on the saddle, so to speak.
Neither of them exactly thought it’d be his saddle she’d choose to mount. He’s risk-free in so many ways—a traveler by profession and a carefree wanderer by design. Oh, not to mention, he’s hot as hell.
But after the wedding—when serious decisions need to be made—Harper must decide: Can she give love one more chance?
Kat Savage’s unique brand of storytelling combines some of her own truths with a little bit of fiction to connect to people in a very real way. She writes about ugly things authentically and shamelessly.
I think Kat is the best growing author I have had the pleasure to read in years. Every time she writes a book I think she outdoes herself and gets better with each story she writes. If that isn't the type of authors that you are reading-- you need to check out her books for sure.
In One More Chance, I really enjoyed how she tied in Lyla and Gentry but then introduced us to Chloe a little more in this book. The character dynamics were SO strong in this one that I couldn't tear my eyes away from my kindle even if I did try. I loved seeing them all interact together-- they just felt REAL.
Also, I didn't come across one single LULL in this entire book. I didn't scan any paragraphs and I read every single word my eyes met. Let's face it-- WE ALL SCAN. If you don't, you're lying. But in One More Chance, I read it. All. Word for word. I just couldn't stop!
While I was reading One More Chance I could just TELL Kat was comfortable and having so much writing this story. The flow was natural, the characters all blended and played so well together and honestly the pacing was incredible. I'm so excited to see Kat growing the way that she is, it makes me so excited for her future!
One More Chance is the second book in Kat Savage’s A Chance at Love series, and it was another addictive read. After adoring A Fighting Chance, I was desperate to see certain characters get their happily ever after, and I was not disappointed.
Although this is the second book in the series, it works perfectly fine as a standalone story. Those that have read the first book get to see more of the characters, but you can understand the details without. One More Chance gives a love story that hooks no matter how you approach it – as a reader new to the series or not – as it grabs from the first page and sucks you in ever deeper with every sentence. The characters are great together, the storyline pulls at your emotions, and you’ll be unable to put this one down. It’s certainly a story that has you willing to read it in a single sitting.
If you enjoyed the first A Chance at Love book, you need to give this second book a read.
One More Chance is a fantastic follow up to A Fighting Chance in the A Chance at Love Series from Kat Savage! I hoped Harper would be next and I'm so happy she was.
We meet Harper in a Fighting Chance, she's the reason Layla ends up back at home. From that first phone call Harper made to Layla in book one I knew I would love her. I relate to her story so much it hurts. I think divorce is tough on anyone and opening your heart after being hurt is harder than the divorce. Jensen Reed is someone Harper never saw coming. Her sister's best friend's brother who lives in the city, and has no plans to move to a farm. The attraction between Jensen and Harper jumped off the page. Their relationship quickly went from nice to meet you to sexy and sweaty.
Once again Kat Savage makes me feel all the feelings. This friends with benefits romance was sweet, sexy and relatable. Savage once again gave us a fantastic plot wrapped up in amazing writing with great characters. Hopefully, she once again set up the third book and did it seamlessly. Kat Savage has quickly hooked me on her writing.
One More Chance is a sweet, swoony, sexy, 5 star read from Kat Savage. I cannot wait to see what she gives us next in the A Chance at Love series.
Just finished reading One More Chance, and it was a great revisit to some amazing characters, and a more thorough view of Harper. Her story captured my attention in A Fighting Chance, and I'd been impatiently waiting for her book! Kat keeps the story and characters growing, while still focusing on Harper and Jensen. Their flirtation was interesting, and I loved seeing Harper come out of her shell and regain her confidence that she'd lost after her divorce. Highly recommend you read this book, which can be read alone, but reading A Fighting Chance would give you a better understanding of all characters.
Loved this book! Really enjoyed getting to know Harper and Jensen, as well as visiting with Lyla and Gentry again. Their story was lovely, I enjoyed it so much. Can't wait for the next one in this series. I hope it revisits with all of our favourites, as well as telling Cora's story.
Whoa!! Holy hot dayuuum!! Kat Savage has me in love with a book, once again! Oh, that Jensen! The characters, this story, so perfect! I don't ever like to give much away in my reviews, so read this! Y'all will not be disappointed! I give this book all the stars! 😍
Holy hell! Let me tell you, this lady, this lady Kat Savage can write a book! She can write a damn book! I was swept away with Gentry, wasn't sure she could ever write someone to one up him. Then in strolls Jensen, holy shit. I LOVE this character so much! I love this story so much!
Small town romance goodness comes together with second chance love in One More Chance by Kat Savage. This story is full of sweet and warm and all kinds of magical feels.
Harper just got divorced from her childhood sweetheart. She doesn't know a life outside their small town and her family farm. It's a hard time. More so because her elder sister Lyla is getting married in farm with her own happily ever after guy. Jensen, brother of Lyla's best friend is in town for the festivities. And this charismatic guy is determined to make her feel happy again. Even if it means helping her learn the ropes of dating again.
Harper's character evolved and bloomed throughout the story. She is shy and reserved and doesn't know much about flirting. But she has a sweet heart and craving for finding out more about love and life. She is ready to spread her wings but she has doubts and insecurities. And Jensen helped her. Coaxed her out of her shell. He is easy going. Charming. Spontaneous. Gorgeous. Lively. They have a great chemistry.
The writing of Kat Savage is so beautiful and heartfelt. It brings out the deepest emotions. One More Chance was such an amazing and heartwarming romance.
I couldn’t wait to dive into the ARC for “One More Chance”, book #2 in Kat Savage’s A Chance At Love series. I loved the first novel and knew that I would love this one just as much.
Correction: I loved it even more.
This story has everything, and I appreciate the fact that the first book doesn’t have to be read before reading this one. One novel flows perfectly into the next but the stories can also stand alone. I love that the characters overlap. Harper is my favourite. She’s quiet and genuine, she’s sassy but also unsure of herself, and it was like we were learning who this character was at the same time that she was discovering herself. I loved that journey. I also loved that she found a friend in Jensen and that he helped her learn and trust herself. And while we’re on the topic of Jensen – HOLY COW. I thought Gentry from book #1 was perfect – I think Jensen might be even more so. It’s literally not fair.
Ladies. Friends. Lovers of contemporary romance – read this book!
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
3.5 Stars. I really enjoyed the "love after divorce" element of this book because I had some of the same feelings in my own life. We learned all about Harper and her impending divorce in A Fighting Chance and I was glad to see that she was getting a story.
Enter Jensen. He is in town for her sister's wedding and it just so happens that she needs a date, he steps up immediately and I really liked how they started getting to know each other right away. He seemed like such a genuine person and that is what she needed after the jerk she was married to. The issue is, no matter how well they hit it off, he is leaving after the wedding and she hasn't ever stepped out of her comfort zone and left town. Will their connection be enough for her to take one more chance at love or is she not ready quite yet?
This is a cute book with low angst and lots of heartfelt moments.
I loved Gentry and Lyla in A Fighting Chance, and was so eager to find out about Harper in One More Chance.
Jensen and Harper entrapped me. The heat, their desire for one another was on fire.
I love how Harper came into her own as the story progressed.
“I have to savor every moment, collect them like rain drops in a mason jar.”
Jensen, oh how I adored him.
“Yeah. Like, you don’t realize you’re a sunflower,” he says. “Look at that field. So breathtakingly beautiful, just existing, but content just following the sun.”
I honestly can’t recommend this enough, you don’t have to read the first in the series to read this either but I suggest you do, or you’ll be missing out.
I was more familiar with Kat’s poetry, but I couldn’t resist a chance to read an advanced copy of her newest novel, One More Chance. I absolutely love her characters. They are so perfectly real and relatable. The chemistry between Harper and Jensen was fun and fiery and absolutely fantastic. I had all intentions of spacing the book out. But, I barely made it last two days. I love how she tied in characters from the previous book. While the books can be read as standalone, they do link together. I loved this one so much that I immediately picked up the first one to read. And I’ll be happily (impatiently) awaiting the next.
Reading this book was like coming home to family. Feeling at home with familiar characters while at the same falling in love with Harper and Jensen. Jensen is used to being by himself and traveling a lot. Harper only knows the farm she lives on and is trying to recover from her divorce. When Jensen suggests that she practice her dating skills on him, she never knew the adventure it would take her own. Sometimes love is worth giving it one more chance.
The second book in the series brings Harper and Jensen's story. The author brings a cast of strong characters and weaves an entertaining story filled with humor , tons of emotions and a sizzling chemistry. She brings vividly painted scenes with detailed writing , moves the story fluidly and delivers a page turning winner!
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book. All opinions in this review are my own and freely given.
Kat Savage writes such a great consistent romance novel! I can see why others were raving about Jensen. He really is boyfriend material! Characters that feel real. A story that makes you feel good.
I've been looking forward to Harper’s story. I really liked her as a secondary character in Lila’s story, A Fighting Chance. I wanted good things for her. When we reconnect with her, we find her finalizing her divorce while trying to participate in and celebrate her sister’s wedding to Gentry. Her emotions are genuine and sincere for her character. She seems deflated, sad, and lonely which is understandable considering the hits life has thrown her way. Enter Jensen. Brother of Lila’s best friend and all-round perfect guy. He’s hot, funny, sensitive, he can sing, and he’s employed. I initially thought he was one of those flawless characters I’ve read so many times, but as I read on I realized his big flaw is he’s not the best at serious communication. This suits Harper because she’s still skittish after the debacle with Charles. They develop a friendly, flirty camaraderie that’s fun to read. Jensen takes it upon himself to give Harper some good life experiences. I’d say she was sheltered, but that’s not the word. She met Charles in high school and until their divorce, he was it for her. It would be easy to grow frustrated with Harper’s solemn opinion of herself but having been in a relationship with a narcissist myself, it’s easy to empathize with her. The scene where Harper dons a flannel shirt brought back visceral memories for me. It’s funny how you might not realize how long it’s been since you read this, watched that, or wore a certain item of clothing until a character in a book does it. I remember the feel of the flannel on my skin and it gave me a weird nostalgic comfort as I read Harper and Jensen falling in love. I would have loved Harper to learn, know and embrace her worth on her own, but years of marriage to a man who scoffed at you, called you ridiculous, and generally put you down would make it difficult. I’d like to reach into the book and shake some sense into her ex-husband. The fun Harper and Jensen have is sweet and normal. There’s no over-the-top overtures or drama to impress each other and I adore how consent positive this book is. Once Harper came out of her shell she became the character I remember from the first book in this series and their scenes together, especially the sensual ones, became a lot more fun. Jensen bites his lower lip a lot and no matter how forward-thinking I fancy myself, it read weird at first. But it speaks to how ingrained certain male behaviors are to us and intentional or not, this small habit made me think. I like that. For all their fun and friendship, serious communication remains an issue for the couple. I can understand Harper’s reticence, but Jensen doesn’t have anything to hold him back. I was yelling at the book for them to sit down and just talk to each other. Harper’s reaction to Jensen’s honesty shocked me. Partly because I wanted more for her at that moment and partly because I would have reacted differently. I didn’t realize how invested I’d become in these characters until then. Grandmothers. The good ones always make the most sense when we least want to hear it, love us unconditionally but call us on our bullshit when necessary. The writing style is a little passive, but it’s not noticeable once you’re deep in the book, which happens unexpectedly.
I must admit, this is the first time ever I can remember reading an acknowledgment in a book. This one was witty and funny, and I loved it. It gave us a good sense of the author beyond her bio and books.
I received a complimentary copy of this from the author in exchange for an honest review.
This sweet romance shows that you do not have to be trapped by expectations that you set for yourself and all you have to do is be willing to try new adventures. Once again Kat brings a story of love, hope, and enough playfulness that we all can feel ourselves falling into the story.
Jensen Reed is the traveling love interest full of adventure and suave moves that he is able to pull of as completely natural and full of sincerity. AKA Jensen Reed is swoon worthy. This is a character that you feel okay loving and sad to see hurt. I can honestly say that there were parts that I was so mad at Kat for putting my sweet sweet Jensen through so many stressful things! Come on Kat! Give our love interest a break! Well okay okay… She ends it on a positive note so I forgive her for the journey he has to take but it was a close call KAT!
Harper. Girl are we cut from the same cloth or what? The self doubt?! The self imposed expectations that you just know everyone wants to hold you to only to find out that those are actually your own expectations?! I cannot even tell you how many times I wanted to reach through the book and shake Harper only to realize that I could probably just shake myself for the same dang things… Harper is so lovable and her hurt heart makes you want to hug her tight and then go TP a house and maybe egg a car.
Kat Savage is known for her amazing and soul touching poetry that started as Instagram and grew into bound collections and has progressed into amazing novels that show Kat is an author full of surprises. The fact that she can transfer between poetry from the heart that reminds you that you are not alone to lighthearted romances that give love hope and brings us characters worth swooning over is just part of why you need to check her out if you have not done so yet!
Oh, this book. This series. Magic. First, I want to say that Kat was born to write. I know this as a longstanding fan and devourer of her poetry, and her novels are no exception. I was thinking about her debut novel, For Now, last night and reflecting on how much she has evolved and pushed herself as a writer. She could write the ingredient list for organic, non-GMO, no artificial fragrance oatmeal, and I would read it happily. This book felt like hope. All through my reading, I could see Harper, I mean really see her. Her fear, her strength, her longing and determination and hope and love and wisdom. She is a fascinating and dynamic character, in no way plain or small like she feels. Jensen. Oh, Jensen. My newest book boyfriend. He is all the things. Kind, funny, charming, bold, sweet, intelligent, compassionate, friendly, loving (and lovable, obviously), the list goes on. My favorite moment with him was his "In this moment..." realization. As a reader, you see this chemistry and love building between Jensen and Harper from the moment they meet, and then you facepalm for like 91% of the book because they keep playing it off. These two are real, flawed, and full of hope at what they can be individually and what they can be together. I love me some Gentry Bodine, and I think he's at least tied for first. This series keeps outdoing itself (as a consequence of Kat continuing to outdo herself), and I can't wait for Cora's book. 15/10 recommend.
The second book in the series and what a 2nd book it was! One More Chance was one more of everything I love in a great romance. A heroine finding herself after a messy divorce, a hero named Jensen that is funny, fun loving and want's to show Harper that she is worthy of love.
"I've never seen you more yourself than you are with him"
Harper was hurt badly by her ex Charles he made her feel that it was all her fault and when someone tells you something like that you believe it why would they say it otherwise. Jensen knows he has to handle Harper with care and has to prove to her that she didn't do anything wrong that she is a wonderful woman who deserves the world.
What I loved about the 2nd book is that although it is a stand alone if you read the first book you get to catch up with the characters again and why wouldn't you want to read Lyla and Gentry's story A Fighting Chance and get to meet Harper a little earlier on!
Oh man, did I swoon! One More Chance just gives you all the swoons. If you believe in second chances, if you believe in all things that make eyes form into hearts eyes like those emojis than Harper and Jensen’s story is one you need to read. It’s not an easy road for them - you have the inner battles of a newly divorced Harper and a handsome stranger Jensen, who was only a plus one date out of default for her sister’s wedding, but is more, he’s this bolt of lightning she didn’t see coming and isn’t this how the best love stories begin.
Kat just gave us so much with this book, laughter and tears. She gave us the raw emotions of beginnings and the steps that take you to finding a new journey. Harper and Jensen’s story will give you hope to believe in yourself, it will make you want to take that chance, it will make you believe in that second chance and trust your instincts as you take that first step and I t’s about seeing that nothing is all roses and sunshine but if you let yourself be open you will find exactly what you never knew you needed.
One More Chance by Kat Savage is undeniably wonderful. With every book she writes, Kat Savage just keeps getting better and better!
The flow to this story is so smooth. There isn’t a dull moment nor is there any lull’s.
I loved Harper and Jensen’s story. You meet Harper in A Fighting Chance, but, you get to really know her in this book. Jensen is so sweet and has so many characteristics that you want in a partner. I enjoyed watching them both grow in this story. The way that Jensen put Harper at ease and was able to help her find herself again, was so sweet.
What made me fall in love with this book even more is that you get to read more about Lyla and Gentry as well not to mention that you get to know a bit more about Cora.
Kat is truly a talented Author who can create all these amazing characters with story lines that hook you in and keep you there to the very end. I even enjoy reading her Acknowledgments wink wink!
Kat Savage has written a great book about second chances at love. Harper is newly divorced. Gavin been with only her one man her entirely life, she’s feeling a little inexperienced and unsure when it comes to dating.
She’s helping her sister Lyla plan for her wedding, along with Lyla’s best friend Cora. Cora’s date to the wedding is her younger brother Jensen, who arrives with her. Harper and Jensen are intrigued with each other, and One thing leads to another and Jensen offers to help her get back in to the date game, by practicing with him.
These two characters are so perfect for each other. Each one is a little timid and unsure with each other. Jensen more because he’s genuinely starting to like Harper. It’s so wonderful to see them open up to the possibly of each other. It’s such a sweet story that will completely suck you in.
Harper and Jensen meet at a wedding of her sister, Lyla. Jensen is a brother of Cora, best friend of Lyla, and decides to be the plus one that Harper needs. The characters are terrific and their backstories give them great depth. Harper is divorced and it hit her hard so it is difficult to jump back in the dating game. He agrees to help her get started safely, and a bond starts to form between them. Tension comes at them from indecision and miscommunication, but friends and family help Harper get her thoughts in order. The romance is a bit of a roller coaster, but like the ride, it is a great adventure in part that you do not know where you are going and there are a lot of twists and turns ahead. The ending is beautiful and definitely worth the read.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I know everyone loves Gentry and yeah i liked him well enough. Jensen though, oh that guy makes me swoony. I loved him so much. He's just like the perfect guy.
Harpers been through enough her ex-husband is trash matter of fact so is her ex-best friend. She's struggling with like who she is. For so long she was someone's partner and now she's not. And now her sister is getting married. Everyone is coming into town for the nuptials. Insert Jensen. He's Lyla's best friend (Cora, book3), brother. He's in town to be Cora's plus one but is quickly replaced by a mystery guy.
if you haven't figured it out by now Jensen is my everything. He's not only the perfect guy for me but the perfect guy for Harper too. I guess ill let her have him or whatever.
I received this free eARC novel from the author and Wildfire Marketing Solutions. This is my honest review.
I was super excited to get Harper's story because she was such a spitfire when it came to Lyla and Gentry's story. And I loved seeing Harper open up in this novel.
Though I have to say, she's much more vulnerable than book 1 let on, and to see her overcome her struggles and live a life she's always needed.
I absolutely love Jensen. One, I love the name Jensen, and it also reminded me of Jensen Ackles! And two, he's such an anomaly. He's stupid hot, but he's lived a life of a less popular person, so he understands insecurity and learning to live one's self.
Seeing these two open up with each other was amazing and this was such a great second chance romance novel. Getting the chance to read this series has been great and I can't wait for more!
I LOVED this book! Harper is fresh out of her divorce and is ready to make a life for herself. She’s realizing she changed or lost parts of herself when she married her high school sweetheart and it’s time to fix that. Then comes Jensen to show her that maybe she’s not as dull as she thought she was. I think every woman has had moments where they realize they’ve changed themselves to fit someone’s ideals and it’s infuriating! I love Harper’s journey and how she struggles with that. Jensen wants to show Harper how much life she still has to live and he is just perfect for the job!
This is the 2nd book in this amazing series and is Harper and Jensen’s story. Harper is newly divorced, and is sad and lonely, and understandably her confidence has taken a knock, and now her sister is getting married she is going to be on her own. Jensen is Lyla’s best friends’ brother, and he volunteers to be Harper’s +1. Jensen lives in the city which is a long way from the farm, and I loved the way in which he helped Harper to come out of her shell and regains her confidence. Can Jensen convince Harper to take a 2nd chance at love? This is a beautifully written story which had relatable and engaging characters, and is emotional, humorous, and entertaining, while pulling at the heartstrings. I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I recommend for all.
