After a long time, I read a book in my mother tongue and I am happy that I picked up a good book. This book is a collection of beautiful short stories that can capture the attention of almost any and every reader. I give this book 4 stars out of 5 and here is my review of it.
Just like a rainbow has seven colours, this book justifies its title and has 7 short stories. And just like each colour of the rainbow is different, each story in this book has its flavour and theme to ensure that the readers get to read something new in every story. Whether it was the story of Chhotu, the beggar or the house number 401, each story had its unique flavour and took me to a different frame of mind. Since I am a dog lover, the story of Kabra and Jackie has my heart. And not to forget, the realistic story of the generation gap! Generation gap is something that is seen every day and almost everywhere and yet it cannot be avoided or amended completely. The variety of this book is its highlight and that is what makes it a beautiful book.
The title of this book is apt as इंद्रधनुष means a rainbow which has seven different colours just like this book that has seven different stories. Though the narration was simple and the language was easy-to-understand. But since I read a Hindi book after a long time, I took some time to read it. What disappointed me was the cover of this book. It could have been so beautiful as there is a lot of creativity possible when you hear the word rainbow.
If you love reading short stories in Hindi, you can go for this book. Since the genre is not specific, almost every Hindi reader would enjoy this book.
One of the best books of short stories I have in many years and that too in Hindi. They are short, they are crisp and they are very meaningful. It was very good mix of genres. I could not put it down and completed in one sitting. At 31 pages it was very short for a book, i would have liked few pictures also, but then again content was superb. Its a good read for one afternoon when you are in nostalgia of childhood.
INDRADHANUSH: Indradhanush is an amazing brief read, the book has some really good stories drawn out of life and realistic character by Gainandra Kumar Bhagel. The highlight of this book is its language written in hindi that is largely spoken by the masses in India. The title of the book Indradhanush is appropriate given as it contains 7 vivid stories and they converge together to form a rainbow. Gainandra Kumar Bhagel’s narration is realistic but very engaging and humorous. Bhagel’s storytelling is different entertaining and has some life lessons and values plus plenty of imagination incorporated in his stories. Gainandra’s observation helps him draw parallel from real life scenario and make stories of them. (Write your own story) Radiant stories!
'इंद्रधनुष' , multicolour and as title suggests itself. 'Indradhanush' contains seven stories that reflects and refracts the human intellectual as well as emotional. Like title of the book, narrator/author(Jainendra Kumar Baghel)/voice of stories, playfully crafted his characters.
Characters has non-fictional language, very simple, subtle, and understandable form. Readers can relate to and most wonderful thing about narrator's characters that they are just like as he stated, "Rainbow"! They have their own perspective and approach towards life, they are their own hero/saviour/teacher of their own stories, some has power to listen to their heart's voice; fight their depression, be a hero of their story, find a way back to their loved ones, and especially they have a 'circular arc later rises with multicolours ! That is, they evolves completely through their mistakes or analytical ways just as a rainbow. I liked it !
I recommend this simple multi-dimensional colorful book to readers, those who want to read some short-tale but with a different flavour. So, take a moment and grab this one, maybe you'll fund a 'Rainbow' inside you or have a cup of tea and chit-chat with yourself with this. A fable tale, made me remember movie 'Isle of Dogs'! A fun read.

Hindi Books are something that has its own magic. Not only because it is generally known to most of us, but also we can instantly associate with it most of the time. On a few occasions, whenever I have to Gift a Hindi book to my grandparents, parents, and dear ones, I always look for an easy read so that they can read it whenever they feel like. Again while reading, if they caught up with some work they easily can resume it from where they were. Short Stories are something that meets these parameters.
Talking about the book "Indradhanush" ( इंद्रधनुष: कहानियाँ, ख़ुशानियाँ और बेईमानियां) is a collection of Short Stories by Indian Writer Jainendra Singh Baghel. Indradhanush…The title of the book aptly talks about the colorful variety of stories inside the book.
The author has done a great job of giving a creative angle to every story. My favorite among all of them was “Sun Sahiba sun.” It was one of the rarest stories that I have read so far; very unique, thoughtful, and conveying a beautiful message in the end without overdoing the act.
Reading stories in Hindi after a long time brought back some of the memories from my childhood. We used to read Champak, Suman Saurabh, etc. during our train journey or Summer vacations back then. Indradhanush whiffed the same nostalgic aroma from inside its fabulous stories.
The titles of every story were pulling me inside each of them to become familiar with their characters, to live the defined page lengths of lives with them. Through this book, I got to live different lives in the form of different characters and their astonishing stories.
Indradhanush is a book that can steal some of your real-life moments as it will completely engross you in it. It is a wonderful gift for any reader who loves to read Hindi language stories.

Book is beautiful collection of 7 short stories that have a message at the end. Each story is written in such a way that the characters used in the book describe the things perfectly. Combination of feeling and emotions mixed with thrill makes the stories interesting to read. First story mentioned here shows about being first in life and what it feels in the eye of parents whether their children is first in life or not. This story clearly shows the feeling of being first for Chotu and for his father how to make their children happy.
Till the end these 7 stories have a message that shows something inside them. Language of the book is Hindi which makes it interesting to read. Start from the beginning to the end these stories are wonderfully described. I like the way author created this concept where 7 short stories are written with an amazing title. Cover of the book looks good.

Indradhanush by Jainendra Kumar is a collection of 7 short stories (that's why the name Indradhanush). Just like the variations of 7 colours in a rainbow, these 7 stories will take you on a rollercoaster ride of entertainment. Every single story in this book gives a freshly baked feel to the reader. Stories are set in a 90s mood. Language is super easy to understand. Though at times I felt like I am listening to B R Chopra's Mahabharath 😃
"VATHSALYA KE ISS SWAR EVAM SPARSH NE CHOTU KI SWAPNALOK SE PRITHVI LOK PAR VAPSI KARVAYI" (chotu's mom just woke him up 😂)

Indhradhanush is a small short story collection is a chota packet bada dhamaka. All stories are written so beautifully. They are all engaging to read. Stories vary in different emotions and different aspects of life. First story is about childs emotion. Second one is tale about of two dogs, their conversation about chasing cars cracked me up. Third story sent chills down my spine. By its end I had fear in my heart. Fourth tale teaches us an important lesson. Fifth one is about what happens when we overthink too much into situation. Sixth one plays along the line of first story but in different perspective. Last one really carcked me up. Overall it was roller coaster of emotions. Must read collection
This book is wonderful collection of short stories. It has seven short stories. Like the rainbow has seven colors in it, similarly this book also has seven short stories. The best part is its very light read, written in lucid language which is easy to understand. Every story we read has some message for the society and each chapter will be something which will do betterment in this society. This book has a story dedicated to live our own life by the name of Shaapit Katha. This book has the element of friendship portraited by the character of Kabra and Jackie they are two dogs. There is also horror story, which is my favorite to read. So, in this way this book has seven stories, all of them are wonderful to read. I really enjoyed reading this masterpiece and recommends it to read.
The title is in absolute sync with the content of the book. It is a collection of 7 short stories which are very poignant and beautifully written. It was about two dogs who were best of friends until one became more "successful" and then suddenly something disastrous happened but their relationship was much deeper than what lay for naked eye. The imageries were stunning and since I have several dogs at home, it was a bitter sweet spot. It took me 7 days to finish the book. Granted each story is tiny but I took my time during this God forsaken quarantine. The writing style was nice and the language was lucid. Reading short stories like these in between regular english other books that I read is like a breath of fresh air.

Sure a book deserving a read , Hindi language makes it more beautiful and easy to relate.
Today in the literary world, its unfortunate that there is a dearth of stories written in mother tongue. So such novels come as a breath of fresh air.
INDRADHANUSH is a compilation of 7 beautifully woven stories proving the aptness of the title and imparting wisdom in various forms. Some stories are fun to read, some are playful while some has a deep embedded message.
The book reminds me of my childhood days and bring back those fond memories when I use to literally swallow the 'Champaks' and comics in a matter of few hours.

been ages, since I read hindi book or stories. I used to read Premchand. Recently his book caught my eyes, and I decided to give it a read. And I just loved the collection of 7 rainbow stories, where each story is set in different tone and theme.
Every story is unique, some will take you to old days, some will make you laugh, and some teach you soft moral values.
I should start reading more hindi novels .... And writers should also need to write some good old school hindi stories.
It is a collection of short stories which can be finished in very short period of time. And name of this book is suitable for it as it contains 7 stories as like colors of rainbow. And all stories are different genre which make this book more interesting. Over all a very interesting book to read and I think everybody can give it a try.
I picked up a hindi piece of literature after quite some time. The book is filled with short heartfelt stories. Different yet interconnected. I loved the theme. I am no judge of language when it comes to hindi but I can say this, that the author had used choicest of words. Definitely would recommend.
This was such a precious collection! Each story better than the other. The fact that it was short and sweet made me love even more. The writing style is great and reading books in your mother tongue makes the expression so much better!
Book Review - Indradhanush - A collection of Stories by Jainendra Kumar Baghel
Indradhanush means Rainbow which is made of 7 colours and this book has a collection of 7 stories all 7 are so diverse and so interesting in different ways. I haven't read a book in Hindi after I finished school, but when I finished half of the first story and I was glued. The language used is impeccable but still connects to feelings of relatability.
Storyline - Each story was different. 'First' about the childish excitement of a little kid, 'Kabra-Jackie' about the friendship of two dogs and the meaning of real friendship. 'Shaapit - Katha' or Cursed Story is a powerful story of life being your own and not of someone else's no matter what you do, you have to live your own life. 'Comics aur Bhikari (someone who begs)' is a story about the realization of how people can manipulate for sympathy. 'Makaan No 401' is a funny story or should I say scary story, saying anything more would just give away the secret. 'Generation Gap' is heartwarming story about the differences that come with age between parent and a child. 'Sun Sahiba Sun' is a very good take on the story about how boy chances upon the powers to speak the language of the universe and is able to talk to all species for some time.
Characters - All stories have a myriad of characters across the 7 stories that make them what they are. I suggest you read it to enjoy them.
Verdict - I thoroughly enjoyed every story and maybe even learnt something from them. Story about friendship, relations love, understanding. If you believe in light reading and enjoy stories that melt your heart, crack you up and lighten your spirit, then this book is for you!
