Nobody remembers the Opposite Day massacre at the Big Top amusement park...Nobody EVER remembers the massacre because nobody ever SURVIVES it...Harper thinks she is having a bad day. Having lost a great job, her home, and her girlfriend, she now works at the Big Top amusement park, entertaining guests... if "entertaining" means being sexually assaulted by the drugged up perverts who invade the park at twilight. But Harper doesn't know what a bad day is, not yet... because Harper doesn't know that today is the anniversary of the worst massacre in human history... today is Opposite Day, when fun becomes terror, laughter becomes screaming, and the whole world is turned upside down in an orgy of skull-fucking, stomach-bursting, genital-grinding ultra-violence.
Sweeney is an infamous author of bizarro and extreme horror.
BANNED from sale on Amazon, his now notorious series of novellas known as THE SEVIIN SICK SINS, as well as the splatter-porno-western serial THE WHOREHOUSE THAT JACK BUILT, can be found exclusively over at indie horror platform Godless.com.
Titles available on Amazon include THE GARDEN GNOME (described by one reviewer as being like "Night at the Museum... if the exhibits wanted to rape and kill you"); THE CROP CIRCLE (a story which gave another reviewer the most horrible nightmare of his life); and THE LOLLIPOP MAN, a British slasher with a pitch-black heart of humour.
Forthcoming titles include THE SHOPPING LIST, an apocalyptic tale of generational incest and cannibalism, and FEE FI FO FUM.
I just don't understand what was happening the depravity was awesome and the descriptions were done really well I just go really confused along the way.. I love the cover though it creeped me out.
I thought this would be more interesting than it was. It reaches the same depths of shameless depravity as Mother Maggot by Sam McHardy, which is legendary for its grossout factor. I guess I was expecting more from Kevin Sweeney even with the 'Extreme Bizarro' tagline. I couldn't really tell you what it was about. Someone described it as being like 'The Purge' movies, but I never really got that sensibility from it. It all felt... uneventful, even with all the violence and sexual violation going on. Believe me, I'm no prude when it comes to reading this stuff. I can totally handle extreme smut when it's written well, or even halfway decent. I know Sweeney can do better than this. Sweeney has done better than this. On to Machine & the Mind Candy Factory.
"Every four years, Topsy-Turvy came back, on the anniversary of the massacre. An undead serial killer who was only defeated after he murdered a lot of people in stupid yet creative ways."
This book sort of felt the literary version of changing the location of Cabin in the Woods to an amusement park instead of a forest and setting an upside-down Art the Clown loose on everyone instead of using a zombie redneck torture family. It wasn't the cleanest or most concise plotline I've ever read, but the gore in it was definitely enough to keep me entertained.
Every 4 years Topsy-Turvy the clown comes back from the depths of hell to reenact Opposite Day at the Big Top amusement park. He likes to kill numerous of people is very vile and out of this world ways. To keep him happy and not destroy what little left of the world there is the very few people still alive must keep making clones and fulfill the day the clown kidnapped and murdered a little girl. This was a very EXTREME Bizarro lol it had me saying wtf numberous of times and I never knew what was coming next. I really enjoyed the fucked up ride this book took me on!
It's Opposite Day at Big Top Amusement Park! Everyone is getting ready for the big day! All the workers are getting their costumes ready and going over their lines for the show. What nobody knows is the history of Opposite Day. And the curse that comes with it every 4 years. They will all soon find out the true meaning of Opposite Day when the real Topsy Turvy shows up for his big day!
This was extremely bizarre, violent, and actually pretty hilarious. I'm a newer reader to bizzaro and I have to say, I love it here. The deaths were extremely creative, the dirty jokes were sprinkled all over, and the twist was new and creative! I laughed a whole lot during this book and had a great time. Topsy Turvy is hilarious but he's also very creepy at times. The descriptions of the park were great and the gore, oh the gore was delicious. This was a lot of fun!
I was so confused at the beginning and struggled to get into this book. The story would go along and then there would be and random insert of italic writing that I just couldn't quite fit into what I was reading although maybe this was just me. It made more sense after reading to the end though.
I pushed through and by the end it had a pretty decent and interesting back story/plot line. The gore was satisfying and I loved the whole opposite thing.
