I am still reeling after finishing this book, as it is so full of action happening on three different fronts simultaneously. We follow Lukys as he is taken by the Tangata to their ancestral home, as they find out he can hear them and talk back to them mind to mind. We also follow the tracks of Erika the Queen's Archivist, as she escapes towards the Gemaho lands, with Maisie, king Nguyen's spy and her captive, Cara the Goddess and friend of Romaine and Lukys who Erika had betrayed. On the other hand Queen Amina of Flumeer learns of Erika's betrayal and is on the war path travelling towards the Gemaho to seek her revenge, and save the Goddess, so Romaine travels with the Queen and her army. Romaine's only aim being to protect and save Cara, be this from Erika's clutches or those of the foreign King Nguyen. However many things happen and paths cross and Lukys finds out things he would have never believed about the Tangata as he meets up with friends he thought he had lost, and together they face a danger they all hoped never to face again. Seems so many lies had been fabricated about the Tangata who turns out were not the animals they were portrayed to be but Lukys could not put aside his prejudices even though Sophia, whose mate he had killed was kind to him and looked out for his safety all the time. I am dying to read further into the story as the intrigue has captured my imagination and I just cannot stop thinking of our heroic characters both human, tangata and gods! This is epic fantasy as its best.

Ha.. Aaron strikes again. Once again his deft use of imagery conjures a vivid scene in the mind of the reader. You will feel like you are participating in these battles as we ourselves, fight the evil Tangata.
A very entertaining and action filled story, and one which I can wholeheartedly recommend tobyou

What is humanity? What they have now is very messed up. The Tangata is a very strong breed of creature and was planning on being the leaders by killing humans or what? War was everywhere and humans were losing. An angel, Caro, helped with some of the Tangata at one time but she could only save Erika, a Archivist and she turned against the angel. The Tangata was looking for some ancient Tangata that was being incubated for stronger Tangata. The breeding line they had was not strong and able to breed. A very good book and continuing series.

I was a bit disappointed with this 2nd book. In the first book I'd decided I liked the characters and had a emotional connection tion, I wanted to know how their stories unfolded. The story was set up with a beginning of a larger quest type of feel, so I was looking forward to the 2nd book beginning to put meat on the bones of that story and the relationships and friendships being developed. I didn't feel that really happened. I found I neither believed nor cared about the situation with the enemy and so the sense of danger and excitement dwindled. I think the author sensed that, and we started to have new dangers and treats crop up but there were so many and from various directions I stopped paying them much attention and so kept forgetting who was what and why they were doing what they were doing. I couldn't help feeling the central premise for the bad guys actions wasn't making sense to me and just wasn't realistic, so all in all, it was a bit of a damp sqib for me. I was disappointed as I really liked some of the characters and felt they had potential, that's why I stuck with it till the end. I'm not sure if I'll read the next one, I don't like to feel like I'm trudging through a book. I like to be turning the pages with anticipation.

The problem with reading multiple unfinished series is that you forget! So took a bit of recall to figure out who everyone was & for me vaguely remember the storyline from the first one! Romaine really is a bit part in this one & I'm not sure that I care enough about anyone else to pick up book 3. There's not much action in this one & feels like just a plot addition until the next one. I can't really say whether I'll finish the series, it's not that it's badly written but you have to care about the characters to want to follow their story.

WOW
This is the best eBook in the series yet.
I could not stop reading this book till the end and hungered for more.
The story just gets better as it unfolds.
Great battles good and bad results.
Many twists and turns and no stop action right to the end.
What will happen to our main characters Romaine,Cara....that we have learned to love will they survive.
I cannot wait till next book neither will you.
Thanks Aaron.

Lukys and Dale are taken by the Tangata. Romaine is recovering from his injuries and Cara is taken at night by Erika and the Gemaho spy Maisie.
More conflict awaits them all as they all fight for survival.
There’s a lot of action, betrayal and twists you won’t see coming. I absolutely enjoyed this book and the characters are amazing. A well written story that keeps you wanting more.

Great read!!

One of the better fantasy books I have read. Great character development, good engaging plot, and use of suspense make for a very entertaining read. I highly recommend this trilogy.

forgetable

This was a good page turner. Once I started I couldn't put it down. I felt the characters were all
BelievAble. There were some who did'n't make it
And others who took charge under very trying
Circumstances. Can't wait for book 3

Such a different story line then the usual magical saga's. Every character comes to life by the way Aaron has written them in the story. Very emotional with some, as you get attached to them. I reccomend this book you won't put it down till the end.

Excellent read

The story continues , the characters continue to develop, a worthy successor to David Gemmel. I am ready to read part 3 now.

A much weaker continuation of the story. Too many tropes, too many coincidences and plot working just so.

Better continuation of the wars (and alliances?) between the human kingdoms and the Tangata. Looking forward to listening to Book 3!

This review is gonna have hella spoilers so 🛑BEWARE🛑

Y’ALL IM SOBBING RIGHT NOWWWW 😭Like that ending once again makes me wanna jump off a cliff. Romaine better not be dead!!!!! Erika is the deserver of death dammit! Not my precious Calafe warrior with a savior complex who only wanted to save his beloved Goddess 😭😭😭😭 and i was hoping to enjoy Adonis as a new character as I really loved him(& his name) but he can get fucked with the shit he just pulled on my baby Lukys and the humans!!!!! Now I can only continue to speculate until January why exactly he’s able to talk to and control the Tangata easily.... because if he’s pretty powerful what does that mean for Maya, the Old One?? Now I didn’t like Maisie in the beginning but she gained my respect when she pulled that blade on Yasin, so I’m hoping to see more of her. I’m also really glad Erika decided not to put the gauntlet back on, I honestly doubt she would’ve taken it off again. I hate her. She basically killed my baby Romaine when she kidnapped Cara. Which I cant wait to finally revel in the land of the Gods when we get to actually see Cara’s life in the next book. And if Romaine really is dead..... I feel like Luk will do right by his mentor and give his life to preserving the legacy of the last Calafe Warrior that his son never got the chance to. BUT HE BETTER NOT FUCKIN BE DEAD!!!!!!

Now back to twiddling my thumbs until the next book! Aaron, how many books will be in this series?
