Killing Comfort is a tactical approach to living your best (uncomfortable) life. It is not a fairytale or a story for your entertainment. This book is for those ready to roll up their sleeves and put in the work. We all know that working hard or getting out of our comfort zone is beneficial. But why do some work hard and still end up with marginal results? If all it takes to truly succeed is consistency and hard work, there would be a lot more millionaires and six-pack abs out there. While consistency and hard work are big pieces of the puzzle, they are not the only pieces. So, that’s where this book comes in. The concept of doing hard things is not new. But, knowing what hard things to pursue seems to be the real challenge, or what this book refers to as, the intentional pursuit of discomfort. The intentional pursuit of discomfort is not the same thing as simply putting yourself in uncomfortable situations. It’s putting yourself in the right uncomfortable situations for exponential growth. It all starts with the simple idea of killing comfort. At its best, comfort has eased you into mediocrity. At its worst, comfort is killing you. It’s time we take the fight to comfort. The pages in this book tell the stories of men and women who were just like you. Men and women who struggled with all that life demands, but found a way to push forward, albeit uncomfortably. We will also look to poetry and films, ancient texts, and a massive amount of scientific research. Jerred weaves in stories and experiences as well as data from tens of thousands of people who have utilized the services of his company, End of Three Fitness, over the last decade to paint a picture of what comfort has cost us, and more importantly, what to do next. Killing Comfort covers three - The Avoiding the six disguised forms of comfort - The Learn the process of intentional and purposeful discomfort - The A tactical approach to a better (uncomfortable) life Any action will lead to some results, but we are after extraordinary results. You know that is what you are after and it’s what you deserve. That’s why you’re reading this. So, let’s unlock what’s been holding us back. Let’s mark off the prerequisite that is overlooked by so many. Let’s KILL COMFORT.
This was such a quick, solid no, nonsense read. Jerred puts this in simplistic terms for just about anyone. If you finish this book and don't make at least 1 change them you missed it. I'm a member of his community since January and love his programming, coaching and all that he instills, am I biased, yes, but I can tell you I have never been more motivated to kill comfort each day. Read it! Join! Become a better human!
Jerred wrote a very motivational book that will do lots of good for most readers. Only complaint was that the kindle edition was essentially a scanned pdf version of the book so you could mess with font size, dark vs normal theme, etc. I had to zoom in to read some sections instead of picking a font size that I can read well and changing the number of pages.
A great book to change your mindset on how to pursue your goals, and ultimately killing comfort. All of the good things we will receive in life requires a price to pay by killing comfort for some time. This may be getting out of your comfort zone to pursue a girl to date, or standing up in front of an audience to present research you've done in your college/career. I understand that this book is geared toward the physical fitness realm of things, but the application goes so much further.
I follow this guy’s training program and podcast. I was so excited when he released this book. I love this book. Very simple read but it’s to the point with zero fluff. I guess you could call it a “self-help” book but I saw it more as a piece of literature to get me back on track. Total recommendation for anyone that is looking to get out of their comfort zone and achieve more in life.
As someone who's always looking to improve and grow this book was exactly what I needed right now. Comfort is a killer of progress and this book breakdown real world strategies for overcoming comfort zones!!
I found out about this book from being a Garage Gym Athlete subscriber. Killing Comfort is an excellent guide to setting and crushing your goals in pursuit of being the most optimal version of yourself.
Nothing really new to me but a nice reminder of a lot of concepts - specifically “the one thing” which I read a few years ago. Good book to annotate - I took a lot of notes in Goodreads progress
I really liked his first book GGA for the practicality. I was lucky enough to receive and advanced copy of this book and read it very quickly. Again this is very easy and like GGA it is very practical for life. Highly recommended (sorry Jerred on delaying review!)
