Amish Country Brides #2

The Heartbreaker

Rate this book
He wants her back. She wants nothing to do with him.

To Miriam Yoder, Michael Eicher is everything she doesn’t want. Prideful, cocky, arrogant. A defector from the Amish life. Why would a gut Amish woman like Miriam even consider being his friend again? Especially after what he’d put her through—professing his affection then skipping town. She didn’t have the heart to go through that again. It was easier to keep her heart sealed up and hidden away, than to chance vulnerability. And she’d be fool to ever trust Michael again.

Michael has lived most of his youth as an irresponsible worldly young man. But when he’s forced to return home, his eyes are opened to the community he’s neglected. He’s only genuinely cared for one woman, Miriam Yoder. Will he be able to convince Miri to give him a second chance? Can this self-centered man who’d only lived for himself find something—or Someone—greater to live for?

A faith-filled story of second chances and learning what true love is, that’s sure to pull on your heartstrings.Books in the AMISH COUNTRY BRIDES Series TrespasserThe HeartbreakerThe CharmerThe DrifterThe GiverThe TeacherThe WidowerThe KeeperThe PretenderThe Arranger (currently titled The Arrangement in the Amish Spring Romance collection, solo book will be available May 2023)The HealerThe Newcomer (prequel to the series)Characters you'll laugh, cry, and fall in love with. Every bit as good as first book in series

An alternate title could have been The Consequences. I fell in love with the Dawdi character in book two. Wonderful passages filled with wisdom. The one thing about this series is you don't get much done until you finish the book. It's off to book three.

The title of this book accurately describes Michael, one of the main characters in this story. He has used his charm and good looks to woo many a young lady, both Amish and English, and has broken many of their hearts. But things start going completely wrong for Michael, and he’s forced to return for a short time his grandfather’s home. As his grandfather’s godly influence begins to work in Michael’s heart, he sees that he needs to make amends to those he’s deeply hurt. This especially includes Miriam, the Amish girl that loved him deeply. Miriam still carries the scars from their relationship, and those scars go far deeper than Michael can imagine. Michael now realizes what a treasure Miriam truly is, but the road to rebuilding a true relationship with her will not be easy; in fact, in may be impossible.

The author portrayed both Michael and Miriam as persons who had sinned and needed to reconcile with God and each other. Michael’s grandfather is a godly influence all throughout the story, and I liked his use of Scripture as the means of attempting to reach Michael’s heart. This book is a great reminder to all of us to love people where they are and never give up on gently reminding them of God’s mercy, love, and grace in our lives.

I received a copy of this book from the publisher. All opinions are my own.

The characters in this book are relatable to individuals you might know. Michael lived for himself until he was faced with difficulties. Miriam was a caring individual but had been hurt. With unexpected twists and turns reality had to be faced. I enjoyed Sam, Michael’s grandfather, in the story. His faith and love would encourage individuals to listen to his wisdom.

Fans of Amish fiction will not want to miss this latest book by Jennifer Spredemann. Her stories are uplifting as she interweaves scripture and the unconditional love of God for her characters.

I received a complimentary ARC of this book from the author and was under no obligation to write a positive review. I have shared my own opinion.

Spredemann has once again woven a heartwarming story that will make you smile, laugh, and cry. I love her ability to pull you into the novel instantly.
I look forward to reading her books because she does not disappoint.
I could not stop thinking about the characters long after the book was finished and I cried when I had to say goodbye to them. I felt like they were family and friends at the same time.
I think what I liked best were the Faith filled themes of the story. A reminder that God is always in control no matter what.
There were times when I felt that she was telling my story. I loved how I could relate to the people in the story.
Reading at night is my favorite thing to do so I lost some sleep but that's ok! A wonderful story like this one is so worth it!
This book has been a joy to read!
I highly recommend this book. It's her best one yet!
There wasn't one thing about this book that I didn't like.
I'm ready for the next one too.
My thanks for a complimentary copy of this book. I was NOT required to write a positive review. All opinions are my own.

This is a fairly good story. Michael is a little hard to take at first because he is so full of himself. I like Miriam and Dawdi Sammy is a sweetheart.
I don't want to write any spoilers. I will say that a couple of things in Michael's life happens fast or is a little too briefly dealt with.

The Heartbreaker is a wonderful gut book!

I have never read this author's work before today, and I must say it was amazingly refreshing. The backstory of this young man was a comprehensive glimpse of many young people today; Michael was self-centered, cocky and persuasive. Good looks helped him win friends and influence them in a bad way. For sure and certain, he gave no thought to the future or what he might be doing to his own reputation, never mind that of his Amish community. It all came home to rest after he left the Amish community and assumed the English way of living. Totalling his motorcycle and breaking both his arm and leg in an accident forced Michael to return to the community in order to live with his grandfather while he regained his health. It also forced him to see the havoc he had wreaked on so many while he'd lived so self-centeredly. How Michael bowed to Der Herr and His plans for Michael's redemption make an astonishingly goodread.
Wonderful book of redemption and love. Thanks to the Spare demands for sharing their combined talent in such a sweet story.

For me, this book was an emotional roller coaster. While my personal struggles are not the same as Miriam Yoder's, I can relate to being young and "in love" and making a multitude of bad decisions that altered the course of my life. Miriam's journey brought back memories and emotions that I thought I'd buried long ago. I appreciate the scripture verses that were liberally orchestrated throughout this book in just the right places as Miriam and Michael (and I) needed them.

I do hope that teenage girls can read this book to get a glimpse of how emotions can cloud their ability to make rational decisions. I hope that they can learn from this book that they're reliance and relationship with God should supercede and guide any relationship they have on this earth.

I thank the author for allowing me to pre-read this book and congratulate her on another fabulous piece of work. I'll be looking forward to the next!

All thoughts and opinions in this review are my own.

Miriam “Miri” and Michael dated a couple of times before he jumped and left his Amish roots. Miri was angry but still in love with Michael so when circumstances brought him back to stay with his grandfather Sammy, Miri had to adjust to seeing him again. Will they get back together? Will Miri’s secret be exposed to the community and the people she loves? You will definitely want to purchase this book and find out for yourself.

I have read other books by Jennifer Spredemann and this one is just as good. I really enjoyed this book because it kept me guessing about the outcome of each character’s situation and made it hard to put down.

A copy of this book was provided to me and my opinions are my own.

This was a very engaging book. It had no dull moments and it taught some great Christian values. The story revolves around Miriam Yoder. Miriam has hard feelings regarding her past which she has kept secret for 5 years. And then comes Michael, a part of her past that stirs up the deep regrets in her heart. Both have made mistakes that they are having trouble coming to terms with. Both need forgiveness of others and of course, themselves.

A great book! A great real-life style of book. Things that happen to many. It's a book well-worth reading. I highly recommend it. If you love second chances, you will love this book.

I received an ebook copy from the author. All thoughts are my own.

I really loved this book. I loved the character Sammy. I would love to have Sammy as my grandfather/mentor. The other characters in this story are facing many of the social problems of people today in all walks of life. Sammy always has the right things to say. One that hit me especially is he asks Miriam if she has asked for forgiveness and she said many times. Sammy advises you only need ask once God is not hard of hearing. I think of how many times I ask for forgiveness for the same thing over and over. As Sammy advises that is guilt speaking. Read this book. I read this as an ARC book and the opinion is all mine #Spredemann #heartbreaker #amishbook

This is the book I have read by this author and come to find out this is Book #2. Will definitely
be looking for the others in this series.

This story is about Miriam Yoder and Michael Either, both of whom are from an Amish community.

They started a friendship that Miriam thought was going to lead to marriage. However, Michael
had different plans and he left the community to live in the English world.

Michael is in a motorcycle accident and comes home to stay with this grandfather while he
covers.

Miriam has been helping Michael's grandfather and is upset when she learns Michael is back in the community much less staying at his grandfather.

With God's help, their past is brought out and forgiveness is sought.

This is a sweet and heartwarming story yet one full of human frailties. This is the story of Miriam Yoder and Michael Eicher. Miriam had loved Michael and he broke her heart when he left the Amish and became a real bad boy, After a bad accident, Michael returns to his grandfather's Amish home to recuperate. Although Miriam has vowed to never love again, she cannot help but come in contact with Michael as she works for his grandfather. The story has many twists and turns but God is clearly at work in the hearts of both Miriam and Michael, with some help from Michael's grandpa. Will hearts of forgiveness enable the couple to recoup what they have lost and lead to a HEA? Be sure and read this great story to find out; I know you will enjoy it.

One of the Best Set

This is one of the best set of books I've read in a long time! This author has a rare gift and I am a voracious reader! I am going to read more of this writer's books. The fact that I have Kindle Unlimited makes it easier for me to read a variety of books. You won't go wrong if you want to be drawn into a story to the point that you can't put it down. A warning, though; these are clean stories. I wouldn't be afraid for my12 year old granddaughter to read anything that this author writes. Of course, if you're familiar with "Good Reads", you probably already know this.😇

I usually don't read series books out of order but the author was kind enough to send me a gift copy of this book to read. I love Jennifer's writing and this 5 star read was no exception. She took me from disliking the main male character to loving him and from thinking the main female character from weak to strong. All of this was done whilst writing a beautiful and sensitive story with some chuckle out loud moments and some tearful moments. I love how Jennifer uses her bible quotes and how appropriate they are to their place in the story. Thank you Jennifer for the gift of this outstanding book and I look forward to others in The Amish Country Brides series. If you haven't read Jennifer's books this is a good place to start and will make you fall in love with her writing and wanting to read more.+

God can do the impossible

This book is so uplifting and rekindles the hope into the broken hearted. Past sins and mistakes can become just that past sins and mistakes, Present day circumstances has no bearing when it comes to Faith in the word of God. Release and wait without any anxious thoughts. If God did it once He will do it again. He is the restorer and give of life. I needed this inspiration tonight!

What a great story. A lot different from most Amish fiction books I have read. Find out the many trials Miriam Yoder goes through after making an important life changing decision. Her life long love, Michael Eischer, shows up unexpectedly after he has been living in the English world . Will Michael’s determination to win back Miriam’s affection happen or will the secret Miriam reveals to him push them apart forever?
