David J Cooper, originally from England, now enjoys the Mexican way of life with his three dogs, Chula, Sooty, and Benji. After fifteen years of teaching English in Mexico, he left that behind and moved from the city to a small Mexican town where he now concentrates on his writing. When he isn't writing, you might find him walking his dogs or eating tacos in the town square. He is currently writing a series about a paranormal investigator named Penny Lane. He says that his own personal paranormal experiences inspired him to write the series. He has also written books on English grammar from his experience in teaching the language. He has also published a book, The Devil Knows, which is about the perverse relationship between Ian Brady and Myra Hindley, the Moors murderers of 1960's Britain. He was in touch with Ian Brady during research into the book, which was published two months before Brady's death. David is featured in the Best Poems and Poets Awards 2012 for his first and only poem God's Garden.
I was taught to always write the way I talked. If this is true of cooper, he's a right prat. Eight sentences to describe the fragile frame of rain clouds does nothing to advance the story and seriously impedes the plot. Phrases such as "all the saliva in her mouth looked in her mouth" are, unfortunately, common. Edit and tighten the book and it probably would be a lot more readable. Cooper is great at playing silly buggers with the English language.
I remember this happening as it was a time of innocence when neighbours looked out for each other. It was a very scary time for parents as innocent little girls were abducted, sexually assaulted, and brutally killed by one man. He was a local man from Cannock Chase in Staffordshire, and he was also married. His name is Raymond Lesley Morris. I have read a book before on this child serial killer which was far better detailed. I am part of the ARC group for Wildblue Press and BookSirens and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
The author i think did a really good job writing this book, I just found it very hard to read because of the crimes it was written about. So it's hats off to Mr. Cooper for being able to write this book and reminding us that there are terrible evil monsters in this world in which we live in, whether it be 10, 20,30,40,50, and so on and so on years ago. I found it to be well written.
I saw a post on face book about this book. I thought I would give it age as I'm from Bloxwich in Walsall. Kept me gripped all the way through very accurate and to the point
I found this book rather elementary. It was obviously culled from newspaper articles, with little thought to presentation for the reader. Very mundane.
This book was so poorly written that I found myself intrigued by the inchoate mess. Was it just an off day for the author? So, I tried another one of his books. Must be my inner masochist emerging. We’ll see.
