Sabrina Kent is my best friend. Our childhood was carefree and full of daring adventures. Then we grew up, pursued our careers, and moved on with our lives. She's the girl I've loved since I was fifteen. The thing is, she doesn't know it, and I never plan on telling her.
The death of her parents brought us back to our hometown of Sunnyville six years ago. We reminisced and I was her shoulder to cry on. One thing led to another, giving each other a night I will never forget, and the bond that ended our friendship.
Now, another funeral brings me back home, and there she is, with her daughter. Sabrina is everything I want but can't have. I want to talk to her about our awkward night and rectify what we once had.
But just when things get right with us, complications arise, and outside forces threaten our lives.
Distracted will be written within K. Bromberg’s bestselling Everyday Hero world and the sexy Malone Brothers will definitely make their appearance. It’s an epic crossover from The Broken Hero Series that you’re sure to enjoy!
Distracted by Michelle Fernandez is part of K. Bromberg's Everyday Heroes World. This well written second chance story is filled with heartbreak, humor, great banter, off-the-charts chemistry, danger, love, and plenty of steam.
I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.
Another book set in K. Bromberg’s Everyday Hero world, Michelle brings the emotions and the steam with Sabrina Kent and Spencer Hayes. It takes another funeral to bring them back together once more. Sabrina doesn’t want anything to do with him and she sure doesn’t want him anywhere near her daughter. He lost her once and he doesn’t plan on losing her again - not even when outside threats try to tear them apart!
“Let me worry about my heart while I take care of yours. Let me worship you, adore you, and love you.”
Michelle did an excellent job making you feel all the love the two of these characters shared! The bond they have is like nothing else. I loved getting glimpses of the past as well. It really brings you more close to the characters. And can we just stop and all agree on how freaking cute Lily, Sabrina’s daughter, is!? Omg... the innocence of a five year old! Some of the conversations she had to have with her made me laugh out loud! Especially the one at the park during the bbq! 🤣🤣 So good! So. Freaking. Good! This book had everything you need in a contemporary romance story. The friendships, the banter, the love, the heartbreak and the loyalty. Of course you get your secrets in here too and we all know that the longer you keep a big secret... the worse it’s going to be when it comes. And trust me.... some serious shit hits the fan! Trust me on that one! This book releases January 28, 2021! Pre-order your copy now! 🖤
Distracted is told from the POVs of Sabrina Kent and Spencer Hayes. These two have been best-friends since they were kids, climbing trees, watching the stars, jumping in lakes, and razzing each other. Sabrina's always loved handsome, charming Spencer. But watching him mess with girl after girl for so long, she's decided it's never gonna happen and he can never know. One night though, the two come together and let go of everything that's been holding them back from giving in. Years later, Sabrina and Spencer are not speaking. There's hurt, longing, distance, secrets, and anger between them now.
There was so much tension and chemistry between Spencer and Sabs. Their story was so romantic, even if it breaks my heart they missed so much time together. There was one situation in particular that I was very worried about, but I liked the way that Spencer handled it. He wanted a future with her and that required letting go of the past.
Michelle Fernandez is a new author to me, but I really liked her way of writing and how she managed to tell Spencer and Sabrina's story in a way that evokes so many feelings in the reader.
I received an ARC in exchange for voluntarily reviewing.
This may be the first book I have read by this author but it certainly won’t be the last because I enjoyed everything about this well written, great addition to The Everyday Heroes World. Spencer and Sabrina’s story is a second chance romance that at times will break your heart. This couple have been best friends since childhood and their childhood tradition of daring each other to do things has carried through to their adult life. The dares have lead to a broken leg and a tattoo for Sabrina but none of the dares have lead to Spencer realising his best friend loves him from the bottom of her heart. Sabrina moves away rather than facing the man she loves move on with someone else but when she comes back home when her grandmother passes away she finds a different Spencer ...... Spencer has grown up and now he knows there was only one love of his life and it seems fate has given them a second chance so now he needs to do whatever it takes to win Sabrina and her little girl Lily over. Will the second time be kinder than the first...... This book ticked all my boxes, I loved the characters and their journey to a HEA captivated me from the first page to the last line. This stiry has everything you want in a great read, it has sizzling chemistry, it has some heartbreak but more importantly it has plenty of love. Great addition to this heroes world and I looking forward to reading more by this very talented author.
This was a good read by MF. I enjoyed the story and it's presence. I just wished there was more information about the supporting characters.
Sabrina and Spencer have loved and adored each other from the beginning of their friendship. They have shared many pivotal moments together. They have also neglected the other by placing their own feelings on the back burner. These two characters will cause a little neck breaking whiplash but in the end it's up to them to decide what's right, true, honest and best for the both of them.
This book was amazing!! I couldn't put it down. I was so wrapped up into this story from the first chapter. Spencer and Sabrina have that pure innocent love and to see where that leads years letter makes this story the amazing one that it is. I love everything about these characters and the love that they have for eachother. But to also watch the struggle of what they went through, you still love them as they go through it all!! This story will break your heart and heal it all within these pages. The chemistry between characters is off the charts and you get all the steam too!! One of the best books I have read...
Sabrina and her former best friend, Spencer, shared one beautiful night that ended with her heart broken. Now 6 years later, her grandma's funeral has brought them both back home. When they find out they're bound to each other again, thanks to her grandma's meddling from beyond the grave, will it be Spencer's chance at redemption? At gaining the forgiveness he's seeking? And will he forgive her when he finds out the secret she's been keeping all this time?
There's so much pain between the two that I despaired they would ever get past it. But in true romance fashion, they worked through it and I loved reading. Their story was sexy, emotionally intense, and the world Michelle has created with Sabrina's coworkers/family is one I would love to read more about.
In this Everyday Heroes book, Michelle Fernandez introduces us to Spencer, the boy Sabrina fell in love with when she was thirteen years old and he never knew it.
"He's ignited a spark in me I thought could never be fired up again, and if I'm not careful, he'll burn my whole world down."
A smidge dramatic, but hey, love will do that to ya! Sabrina and Spencer have been dancing around thier feelings for one another for years. Through boyfriends, girlfriends and even marriages. We flash back and forth to figure out how they ended up in the predicament they find themselves in present day. There's love, luck and a nosey, but loving Nonna to help these two lovebirds finally find thier way back to each other.
While I liked the characters, I felt there wasn't a whole lot of chemistry between Spencer and Sabrina, it seemed forced at times, especially with the surrounding circumstances. That said, we still got quite the angsy, drama-filled story I have come to love.
The book is well written and pretty predictable with a little twist at the end. Along with Spencer and Sabrina, there is a gaggle of supporting characters to help the story along. while I have only read a few, Distracted is a nice addition to The Everyday Heroes World.
5 Star Review Distracted (Everyday Heroes World) by Michelle Fernandez
Set in K.Bromberg’s The Everyday Heroes World one of the things that has been such fun is finding so many new authors to me, such as Michelle Fernandez.
This is a friends to lovers story that ticked the boxes for me. From the first to the last chapter I was totally invested in Sabrina and Spencer's story. Spencer has been in love with Sabrina since he was fifteen, but after a night that he has never forgotten, their friendship ended.
Fast forward six years and they are in Sunnyville for another funeral. Coming face to face with the woman he loves and her daughter Lily, he hopes to have a chance to talk to her and make peace with the past. What he doesn’t know is that Sabrina has always been in love with him too.
There were times when my heart just about broke for Sabrina and Spencer, but the chemistry and connection between them is just as strong as when they were younger. Their journey to a happily ever after is rocky but when they get there it will be worth everything that theses two have had to go through.
It was fabulous to see the Malone’s make an appearance and it just added to my enjoyment of Distracted. This may have been my first book from Michelle Fernandez but it most certainly won’t be my last.
Spencer is a Detective who happens to be suspended from the force and spending time in his hometown. Sabrina is Forensic Specialist and single mother. Sabrina’s Grandmother suddenly dies and she has to go home to pay her respect. When Spencer and Sabrina run into each other their very complicated relationship is rediscovered. These two have a life long love hate relationship that is very layered. This was a quick enjoyable read.
There's just something about a best friends to lovers romance that gets me all in my feels, and this one was no different! Then you those in a surprise baby and second chance, and I couldn't wait to have this book on my kindle. And oh man, what a ride it was!
Sabrina has been in love with Spencer, her best friend, for as long as she can remember, but she witness first hand just how he is with other women and knows she can't risk their friendship like that. Because of their careers they grow slightly apart over the years until a funeral has them both back in town.. And each other's arms. And then Sabrina finds out that Sebastian is seeing someone and immediately shuts him out of her life for good. Another six years pass, and there's yet another funeral that brings them both back together, only this time Sabrina refuses to fling herself back into his arms -- even if that's all she desperately wants to do. But can she keep the distance between them when he figures out the secret she's been hiding?
While I did really enjoy this book, at times I felt like the author was trying so hard to force Sebastian and Sabrina together, bit the connection just wasn't there. You could obviously feel the friendly love between them, but I never felt that overwhelming soul mate love. However, Lily was by far the cutest little girl ever so this book gets all the stars for her alone!!
**I received an ARC of this book and these are my honest opinions!**
* * I HAD BEEN GIVEN AN ADVANCED READERS COPY IN EXCHANGE FOR MY HONEST REVIEW * *
This is my first book by Michelle Fernandez, but not my first in the Everyday Hero's series.
I loved this secret Baby second chance friends to lovers romance without the usual drama points. There were so many more variables to this story line that didn't make it to predictable, it was more of a one of a kind read.
It was a nice read with an easy to follow plot and while there were a lot more secondary characters than I am used to, they fit the story rather than overwhelm it. There were characters from the OG stories by K. Bromberg as well as original characters from Michelle Fernandez's books.
It was a nice combination of worlds that complimented eachother rather than over run them.
Sabrina Kent and Spencer Hayes have been best friends since they were babies. Doing dare, being crazy, and just living life. Until they get older and things start to change. They are both attracted to one another, but neither of them will take the plunge. When Sabrina's life takes a turn Spencer is there to help her, however, Sabrina is the one that gets the shock of a lifetime. Now years later she is back in their hometown with a secret and a legacy. When she comes face-to-face with Spencer for the first time, well she's about to see if he can forgive her. Just when they think things are going good Sabrina's life turns into danger. Can Spencer find her and save her before it's too late?
I love friends to lovers stories and this one hit me right in the feels. Spencer and Sabrina have amazing chemistry and even though I haven't read the series that this cross overs with by this author, I didn't feel left out. It did leave me wanting to know more about other characters so now I will be picking up other books by this author.
I’ve become a big fan of this world and all of the characters. Spencer and Sabrina’s story is terrific and a great addition to this series. Lily stole my heart and I rooted so hard for all of them. There was love, romance, and of course suspenseful moments that make you want to turn the pages faster. You do not want to miss out so make sure it is on your tbr list.
I really enjoyed Sabrina & Spencer’s journey. I was consumed by it & couldn’t put it down. I loved the love they had for each other.
Childhood best friends, from carefree innocence. Daring each other to kiss frogs & jump out of trees lying in the dark & looking for fallen stars to falling in love.
Tragedy brings them together, secrets tear them apart.
Their journey isn’t easy but forgiving the one you love can lead to the greatest of treasure.
If you are looking for a book that has steamy friends to lovers romance, secrets, second chances, friendship, heartbreak, and more all rolled into one then you need to check this one out today!
This was an awesome book. We get to see the entire "picture" of two people, Sabrina and Spencer from childhood to adult. Two very best friends that had such a fun and loving childhood growing up. Each of them loving each other forever but never telling. As they grew up, they grew apart and then they came back together. I was wondering if and when they would finally admit their love for each other. When something terrible happens, it takes everyone Spencer and Sabrina knows to jump in with their help and support. I am extremely selective about the books I read. I loved this one!
This friends to lovers romance will hit you right in the heart. Jam packed with all the feels Spencer and Sabrina will fight for what is true...their love. With so many twist and turns I couldn’t turn the pages fast enough. I had to know how they achieved their HEA. Such a beautiful story.
This was my first time reading a book from this author and it won’t be my last book from her. This book was amazing! I couldn’t put it down. This second chance story is filled with angst, great chemistry, suspense, and a whole bunch of steam.
I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Distracted by Michelle Fernandez is another great addition to The Everyday Heroes World. This book was quite the wild ride. Sabrina and Spencer's book had so many themes and I loved it. We went from second chance secret baby. This series has been amazing and I hope to read more.
This book is part of K Bromberg's Everyday Heroes Series and Wow. Sabrina Kent and Spencer Hayes are a great couple of characters, even the side characters are good to read about. This book has friendship, romance, laughter, second chances and suspense, and was seriously so good. I would gladly give more star's if I could, loved it.
This book had absolutely everything Heartbreak, friendship, hidden love, second chances and a HEA! What an amazing read we are taken on as we live through Sabrina & Spencer, you can’t help but fall in love with them.
Sabrina, Spencer (spencie) lily pop Spencer was the popular jock In school that girls all wanted and Sabrina was the quiet girl who was in love with her best friend .... but he didn’t know it. They were Childhood friends who dared each other continually even to the extent that Sabrina broke her leg with one dare. One dare ended up with Sabrina getting a friendship tattoo rather than the alternative of kissing Spenser (even though that’s all she secretly wanted to do). There friendship took a turn when one night their get together ended with them entangled in Spenser’s car. But when Sabrina thought their friendship had finally gone to the next level. Instead years later Spencer ended up engaged and was now a Cop due to an injury that stopped him from pursuing his sporting destiny. When Sabrina’s grandmother passes they are called back home. Spencer and Sabrina are both left something in the will and Spencer does not give up trying to win Sabrina and her little daughter Lily (Lily pop). This was an amazing journey we are taken on as we follow Sabs and Spencie on their road to a HEA 5 stars!!
What isn’t to love about a second chance romance that features a surprise baby? All the elements you love about those tropes are found in Michelle Fernandez’s Everyday Heroes offering, Distracted. In this story, Fernandez has done a superb job of showing the pain of reconciliation after years of heartache, along with the consequences of hiding a child of her biological parent. Intertwined with those ideas is the hope of finding family beyond your biology and acknowledging your part in hurting someone else. These are the fundamental aspects of Distracted. Add in a little romantic suspense to the formula, and you have a book that’s a page-turner.
What I liked a LOT about Distracted:
*The chemistry between Spencer and Sabrina. Fernandez makes it clear from the first chapter, and you quite frankly want to smack them both upside the head in their denial of it. It’s obvious, but Fernandez makes you pine for their coupling. Thankfully, when they finally fall into it, it’s fiery. She paces these moments out well for her reader, so you are “all in” with these two.
*The romantic suspense portion of the story is a page-turner...until its resolution. Fernandez does a superb job of piquing our interest with the person threatening Spencer or Sabrina. However, as it unravels later in the story, it becomes clouded, and it feels a little underdeveloped at that point. That being said, I didn’t want to put the book down until it was worked out.
*Sabrina’s daughter is adorable. What’s not to love about a 6-year-old girl who loves unicorns. She lends the story lightness when it’s necessary to break up Spencer and Sabrina’s angst.
*The inclusion of Bromberg’s Everday Heroes. I’m sure, had I read all of the Bromberg EH prior to this book, I’d love turning the page to see who is revealed. As it is, it’s clear that Fernandez has firmly planted Sabrina and Spencer in this world, only adding further dimension to it. I mean, isn’t that the purpose of all of these great authors such as Fernandez adding to it?
*The revelation of Spencer and Sabrina’s story. It’s sometimes hard to read a second chance romance when the author chooses the first third of the book to tell the story of the past. Fernandez was keen in revealing their past in chapters scattered throughout their present. I prefer that type of organization over the first portion of the book laying out the extended details of their past. It felt balanced within the confines of Distracted’s story.
What I would have liked to see revised:
*As I mentioned above, I think the romantic suspense portion of the plot could have used a bit more work. The uneven depiction of Spencer’s interest in Sabrina. The “I can’t have her/I want to have her” wasn’t necessary for their present. There were times when he was pining for her and then would say he could just go back to his life. I prefer more consistency with that type of tension-building.
*The secret revelation. To be honest, it was underwhelming. I would have preferred more strife at that moment.
*Spencer mentions a drug dependency, but that portion of the story wasn’t fleshed out enough for it to be impactful. I would have loved to know more about that so I could feel the gravity of Spencer’s decision.
Michelle Fernandez’s Distracted is a fine addition to the Everyday Heroes World. She’s placed Spencer and Sabrina’s love story squarely in a world filled with hunky hottie heroes and heroines. If you love the angst of second chance, friends to lovers, surprise baby romances, then you will definitely want to read this book. It doesn’t disappoint.
Distracted: An Everyday Heroes Novel (The Everyday Heroes World) Michelle Fernandez
"The two letters laced together. At one end is the moon and the other the sun. It's the perfect representation of us." "Our S's."
Sabrina and Spencer grew up together and were best friends who did lots of dares. They both loved the other, but were too afraid to admit it and ruin their friendship. Years later, Sabrina just lost her parents, and they go for it, but alas it wasn't meant to be due to some miscommunication (mostly). However, neither ever forgot the other one, and always missed them. Fast forward 6 years, and Spencer is back in town for Sabrina';s grandmothers funeral, and he is determined to be at least her friend. He realizes he is better with her around and in his life. But Sabrina has a few secrets of her own, and will they ruin their chance at happiness or bring them even closer? To find out that, you need to read the book. OMG, Lily and some of the things she says. She is a fire cracker, and her telling people about Spencie and Sabs fighting and making up, was hilarious! Oh and holy hotness, Spencer is one hot detective, if only the ones in real life were as hot as him! So many great supporting characters in this book, that deserve their own books. I may be late to this series and the original one, but I will be reading as many of these books as I can! This is my third book by this author, and I plan to go back and read the others that I have missed. I love her style and how she writes, so she has very quickly become one of my favorites to read! I hope you pick this book up and give her a chance and become a fan as well.
First of all, OMG THE COVER! I'm telling you this cover should be on a pillowcase for all of us to cuddle with that man. I'm rather new(ish) to the Michelle Fernandez world, so I never saw Distracted coming whatsoever. Sabrina & Spencer spent their childhood together with the most outrageous dares that I was like HOLY HELL! He harbored a secret thing for her but never told her, choosing to see other girls instead. There comes a point when things take a turn but then he makes the wrong decision leaving a ton of destruction in his wake. Sabrina has to come home after her Nonna passes to take care of business, and since she's a single mother, her daughter Lily comes with her. Now Lily was the comedic relief that we all needed because the angst is so thick. It just so happens that Spencer hasn't been doing great lately so after he gets suspended from his job, he decides to come home at the same time, and this time, he plans to make it up to Sabrina & will try for a second chance. Again the angst is thick, but fate has things under control so maybe just maybe they will get all of the hurt out of the way. I know some people may be upset with some of Sabrina's decisions, but I'm saying that I would have done the same exact thing because Spencer definitely did her wrong & I don't blame her. But wait, there's more! A twist so insane comes out of left field, and I couldn't even drop any f-bombs from the shock. Anyway, this story was impossible to put down so I HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND TO ALL!
Sabrina and Spencer are the best of friends. Have been the best of friends since forever but puberty and hormones have a way of changing how you see someone. Neither of them would admit that their feelings had taken on a different
So when Spencer starts a game with Sabrina; dare, jump or kiss (which equates to chicken and forfeiture) of course Sabrina can obviously only accept the dares...she is no chicken and she certainly can't kiss Spencer.
Denying their feelings they both grow up and move away from home. Spencer's baseball career is promising and taking him places until he is injured, ... changing his career path and life.
Sabrina's career takes off and allows her freedom and a family away from the small town she grew up in. A tragedy sends both of them back to where it started. They share a passionate night together tangled in each other's embrace and comfort and karma steps in yet again. Spencer's latest girlfriend pregnant as well. They don't speak again for 5 years when another tragedy bring them back home and forces them into the same space. Forcing them to address past mistakes, their feelings and that Sabrina has some explaining to do.
The excitement only builds when more drama encapsulates their blissful reunion. Their fight to be together only makes it that much sweeter when at last they end up together for their happily ever after.
A best friends second chance, single parent romance, yes please…
Sabrina and Spencer were best friends growing up and as they grew up their feelings changed from friends to something more, but they never told each other their feelings.
When they each go their separate ways to pursue their careers they only see each other again at Sabrina’s parents funeral. And one thing lead to another and a steamy hot night happens. Six years later another funeral brings them back together but now Sabrina has a little girl. But after what happened six years ago Sabrina cant seem to forgive Spencer and doesn’t want him anywhere near her daughter. But fate has something else in store for them. And not to mention Spencer will do anything to get back his best friend but also the women he loves.
I seriously enjoyed this one. I love single parent books and it was a second chance romance, totally ate it up. The bond they have just kept on putting them together, if that isn’t fate I don’t know what is. And Sabrina’s little girl, talk about cute overload. This was a cute, funny, sweet low on the angst book that will definitely keep your attention to the end ♥ 😊
This is the first book I have read in the Everyday Hero’s world and my first book by this author as well. You can definitely tell that it was part of a wider world with some of the side characters obviously having their own stories. This book has a multitude of tropes from friends to lovers, single mum, second chance and small town romance. Some of the plot points were predictable as it is so full of tropes. Having said that I really enjoyed it and I didn’t see everything coming!
I went into this book thinking it was a romantic suspense I would say is heavy on the romance and light on the suspense. I was a bit concerned to start with because we had multiple timelines but thankfully we only had a couple of chapters dedicated to historic scenes at the start. As the story progresses we go to see more of the history coming out naturally, as the main characters thought about it or talked about in conversation, as well as a few shorter flashbacks. Although I was here for our main romance, I also wanna mention the relationships with the side characters, as well as Lily I love the extended family feel of the friend group! I look forward to seeing them again in the future books set in this world!
