Yoga teacher Angela Forbes has fulfilled her dream of opening her very own studio, Heart Yoga, on the outskirts of Edinburgh, Scotland. Passionate and principled, she believes in yoga and wants to make a difference. Unfortunately, her studio is hanging by a thread after a slow start. She doesn’t have time for love, and isn’t attachment the root of all suffering anyway?
Life isn’t going the way Emily Mackenzie had planned. She’s lost her high-powered corporate job and isn’t coping well. She’s spent her twenties sacrificing her personal life for her career and now she has nothing to show for it. Stressed and struggling, she might just be at her rock bottom. When Emily joins Heart Yoga she finds a lot more than just a good stretch.
An unexpected kiss forces Angela to question everything she holds dear, and as Emily gets back on her feet is it wise for her to risk getting involved with someone who’s not looking for love?
So knowing this is a new writer and this only being her second book, has blown me away. This was a emotional story of love with a unbelievable belief in peace. I fell in love with Emily as a I have been in her shoes and I just want to give her a permanent hug. It is so hard to pull yourself up when you have so much pulling you down. Still she tries to find a sense of herself and tries Yoga. In comes Angela as the owner who is struggling with a new business and trying to maintain her peace and calm nature to also teach. The connection between them is instant. Now they need to overcome some hurdles to find the love they both deserve. This was written so well and with such heart and dignity. The way Angela was teaching her Yoga classes was explained so in depth, I think I learned a lot about Yoga myself and definitely will look into it. Life is not always easy but we must keep trying to find the peace and love we alll need. Great Job. Definitely checking out Lisa Elliot’s first book.
I'm a yogi and was thrilled when I can upon this title. Our author did a really excellent job using descriptive details to highlight poses and meditation techniques. Angela and Emily met at just the right time for both of them. Emily was at a low point in her life and Angela's fledgling business was sinking fast. Angela introduced Emily to yoga, meditation, and mindfulness which really helped Emily feel better both mentally and physically. Emily helped Angela get her business in the black. This was an entertaining read with some sweet moments and a bit of added drama and angst. Thank you Lisa Elliot for writing a book that revolved around yoga!!
This was the first book I read by this author. I‘m a huge fan of yoga and Lesfic so there was no question that I will give this a go. And I‘m so happy I did. It was so wonderful to read about all the poses and doing them in my mind. I loved the journey Emily took, how she discovered yoga and how she found back to herself. I wish we would have known more about her past, her family and Angela’s. But that’s the only negative thing I can say about this book. I will definitely read more by this author.
This is worth the five stars, great story, great characters, made Edinburgh sound lovely which it is .Story had a lovely flow i enjoyed getting to know everyone.Being from Scotland it was fun seeing our daft language in print made me laugh and feel happy usually our rather strange way of expression is made a bit posher, nice to see it wasn't. Very warm relaxing book with enough wee twists to keep it interesting. Read and enjoy. Highly recommend.
This is one of those where I found myself hoping the MCs would not end up together. Aside from the few sentences in the book clearly meant for someone who understand how Scots talk, I found Angela, the yoga teacher, obnoxious, full of herself and needing constant approval. Emily is a poor soul, I wanted her to dump Angela and move on. The book is very yoga oriented, description after description of a yoga class were boring. Not a book I would recommend.
I so enjoyed the characters and the setting. Edinburgh, the highlands, Isle of Skyy - so beautiful. I was sad when the book ended. I keep thinking of how the story could continue, I’d be the first to read how Angela and Emily build her success into their own retreat in the beautiful Scottish highlands.
This is a wonderful story about love. It also includes yoga and I learn quite a bit about yoga. Angela and Emily found each other and that is the plot of the story. How to overcome fear is the weather other think about you and how to open yourself to love. I recommend this book.
I picked this up because I don't mind doing a bit of disabled yoga, as much as my arthritic body will allow anyway. It was interesting to see how the author weaved it and the notional beliefs behind it through the story. This was a steady read and it did slow down somewhat in the middle, but picked up again towards the end. It was clear the two mains had a connection. Obviously fighting against that connection was integral to the plot, but sometimes it did seem a little overdone. I rolled my eyes a couple of times. Aside from that, it was a decent read. I'd read more by the author.
I expected this to be a wholesome little palette cleanser romance, but it was a bit preachy about yoga and the main character is deeply unlikeable in how she pushes people away for bizarre reasons (student teacher relationships being problematic for fully grown adult women in a yoga studio??) and seeks no therapy other than just more yoga. Unimpressive, sadly.
I have never been into yoga in the least, but after reading this, I legit want to open a studio. Ms Elliot, the care you take in researching and the way you tell your stories is amazing to me. I learn so much from you.
I am not into yoga so maybe that's why I felt this was a 4 instead of 5. I felt the story getting bogged down in the finer points of yoga but not the overall character story line.
Angela Forbes is a yoga instructor who has opened her own studio, Heart Yoga, on the outskirts of Edinburgh, Scotland. Angela is dedicated and principled, and she believes in the transformative power of yoga. Her studio, on the other hand, is struggling to stay afloat after a slow start, and she has no time for love.
Emily Mackenzie, on the other hand, has lost her high-powered corporate job and is struggling. She spent her twenties sacrificing her personal life for her career, and now she has nothing to show for it. Emily discovers much more than just a good stretch when she joins Heart Yoga.
An unexpected kiss causes Angela to question everything she holds dear, and as Emily regains her footing, it becomes clear that getting involved with someone who isn't looking for love isn't the best option.
Lisa Elliot excels at delving into the complexities of love and relationships. The dialogue is realistic and the characters are relatable. The book is a heartwarming and thought-provoking read about balancing career, personal life, and love. I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone who enjoys romance novels.
