This book is a good overview of what it means to be a librarian and operate a library. It's geared more toward those without formal library education and those working in smaller or more rural libraries. I work in a large urban library system, but I still found a lot of useful information in here. It doesn't go deep into any one section, but there are large suggested reading lists at the end of the book for each topic. This would be a great starting point for anyone who has found themselves in a library job without any formal training, or for those thinking about applying for a library job.
