I haven't read this book, so I probably shouldn't be commenting, but if there are two evil entities, then who are we, the audience, supposed to cheer for? Just thinking out loud.

This book is listed as a horror story, but I don’t see it as such, because in so many ways it is an inspirational and heart-rending story.
Ben, whom the FBI have dubbed The Whisper Killer is a lovable, compassionate, caring character and I couldn’t see him as a serial killer, even when I read about the cold-blooded murders he had committed. The fact that Jack, the demon who was trapped inside him, was behind the killings mitigated Ben’s physical participation somewhat
Jack is even more complex than Ben, and one cannot totally condemn a vigilante who does bad things for the greater good, especially when he’s likeable.
The town they stumble upon and end up living in is unique, and holds its own powers—the power to keep you there if it needs you for something.
I think what kept me unable to put it down was the unpredictability, which went on to the last page. I loved it.

I bought the book because the plot intrigued me. It surpassed my expectations. It was hard to put down when I first started.

I really liked the authors writing style. Very descriptive without any clutter. It kept me immersed in the world and it felt like I was 'flowing' along with the story enjoying the journey and scenery. Wolf Hollow and its inhabitants took a life on their own with their otherworldly flair. I'm sad to leave them.

Buildup was good, and climax was neither too short nor dragging.

I enjoyed this book immensely and it will be one of my favourites.

Good book

I like to keep my review simple. I liked the book, the characters, the story, everything. Can't think of anything i didn't like. I wouldn't call it urban fantasy but it had hints of it.

Worth the read

This is the first book I have read by this author, I have already loaded in the next. If you are a fan of the writing of Knootz or King, you won't be disappointed.

First Time wanting a Serial Killer to Win

One of the best stories I have ever read about a Serial killer and the town he settles in. Great story kept my attention all the way through to the end.

Caleb Grieger detests his wife, kids, and everyone else in the quaint town of Wolf Hollow, Montana. So, he did what any other hate-filled man would do—he smothered his wife with a pillow, murdered his two daughters, and then proceeded to burn down his house with a promise to return to Wolf Hollow some day and exterminate the rest of the town’s vermin.

Across the country in New York, Jack, a seasoned killer, is stopped by a police officer with two bullets to his head. But Jack is a demon and will soon possess his next victim.

Benjamin Montgomery is an orphan shipped off to one foster home after another, but life becomes less lonely when the demon, Jack, takes up residency in his head. Ben is a likeable character with a strong sense of right and wrong. Jack, a vigilante serial killer, takes over Ben’s body whenever an opportunity arises for his next kill. The cops have dubbed Benjamin The Whisper Killer because witnesses have heard him talking to himself during the murders.

Caleb, now in prison for robbing a convenience store, is up for parole. While the paperwork is being attended to, Caleb contacts a small army of degenerates to help him pillage and murder the citizens of Wolf Hollow upon his release.

So begins Rod Little’s The Whisper Killer, a novel with believable characters, a fast-paced plot that is unpredictable as well as enthralling, and a setting that has a personality of its own. Wolf Hollow knows trouble is brewing and it needs to recruit a specific talent to save the little town from extinction. Perhaps the Whisper Killer can defend the hamlet from the coming evil.

The Whisper Killer is a punchy little narrative. The writing is crisp and while - in many cases - is quick, the pace and cadence are a great fit for the flow of the story. The author's description captures the plot (so I don't have much to add on that front in this review) - aside from highlighting a pretty fun little hook at the end. In short, given the flavour of the story, it's exactly what it needs to be. If you're a fan of the serial killer mixed with some supernatural flair, this is probably something you'll enjoy. Nothing too long, meandering, or much excess fat to trim - just a fun read where you get to cheer for a bad guy.

I don’t know what to think about this story. I was expecting something darker, the description made me think there was an evil town sort of thing happening and instead it was a little bit of lukewarm magic “oooh the town wants you to stay” vibe going on, a touch of mystery witchy old lady and...nothing. Sure there was a bit of serial killing and revenge on a whole town depraved stuff happening but it was just...bland.

Decent, Tortured

Simple writing style, effective characters, and for those who like it, a slow build-up to the end, which feels much the same to me as the rest of the book.

I know a book has truly captured me when I find myself talking out loud to the characters—rooting for them and telling them what to do.

This book strikes an interesting vibe. At times, it feels cozy, but laced with dark, ominous undertones, while other moments are gripping, fast-paced action, action, action.

The characters are memorable and endearing, with heartwarming friendships that genuinely made me smile. They feel real, like people you could meet (and root for) in your own life.

One thing that really stood out was Little's incredible talent for painting a scene—you feel like you're standing right there in the story. When I think back on this book, it’s like I can visually recall the various places in Wolf Hallow (the town in the book) as if I'd visited them myself.

Overall, it's an effortlessly engaging read with great characters, atmosphere and action.
