The holidays are far from magical when your relationship is on the rocks, but with a seductive setting and some Christmas spirit, three couples have a chance to rekindle the spark of romance.
A change of heart by Farrah Rochon A husband and wife come to the Inn to say one last goodbye before giving up on their marriage, but when a snowstorm leaves them stranded, the romantic surroundings reignite their banked desire.
Can You Believe by Stefanie Worth When a visit from the Spirit of Christmas gives newlyweds a glimpse into a future without each other, can a trip to the holiday Inn persuade them to make a passionate new beginning?
By New Year's Day by Phyllis Bourne Williams A desperate husband whisks his reluctant wife off on a romantic vacation to the Holiday Inn, where he plans to renew her passion with a sexy New Year's kiss.
A native of Chicago’s Southside, Phyllis Bourne began her writing career as a crime reporter for the Ft. Wayne News-Sentinel and the South Florida Sun-Sentinel. After years of chasing cops and criminals, she left reporting to write about life’s sweeter side.
Nowadays her stories are filled with heart-stopping heroes and happy endings. Phyllis is a 2001 and 2005 RWA Golden Heart finalist. When she’s not writing, she can usually be found at a make-up counter feeding her lipstick addiction. Phyllis currently resides in middle-Tennessee.
A collection of holiday romances with a twist - all the couples are married and trying to save their relationships and all the authors are Black. It's rare to have a collection with either combo and these three knock it out of the park. These stories are almost 15 years old and still they resonate with their themes of taking each other for granted and letting outside circumstances dictate priorities other than the relationship.
So I couldn’t even finish the first story. It was just too slow for me. I didn’t attempt to read the second one, but I absolutely loved the third story. I’m a huge fan of that author and I knew I wouldn’t be disappointed. The third story deserves 5 stars but I had to factor in the 3 stars I gave the portion of the first story I did read.
This book is a 3 in 1 set of stories by 3 different authors. They all were an ok read about 3 couples who were rekindling thr romance sides of their relationships. Their lives were so busy they took eachother for granted and needed to slow down to rediscover why they fell in love in the first place.
I loved these stories. I especially enjoyed that they were already established couples. Each story showed the work it takes to keep the romance fresh and the happily ever after secure.
Holiday Inn is the collaboration of three very talented writers, Farrah Rochon, Stephanie Worth and Phyllis Bourne Williams. In the first story, "A Change of Heart", by Rochon, Chandra and Derek Stovall have been married for more than twenty years. Chandra stayed at home and raised their two kids, while Derek worked long hours building his auto repair dealerships. Chandra wanted to share one last holiday together as a family but an unexpected snowstorm prevented their kids from getting there in time for Christmas. Little did they know, the snowstorm provided them with a chance to get reacquainted with each other and change each other's heart.
Worth introduces readers to Fallon and Naymond Terry in "Can You Believe". Naymond is sure to win Charts Topper contest; after all, he has the look and he is considered to be the next neo-soul superstar. Fallon is so proud of Naymond. Yet as he gets closer to winning, she is beginning to have doubts of what her life would be like. On a chance meeting, Fallon meets a psychic who gives her a snow globe. Each time she shook the globe, their lives changed and it allowed them to take a look at their future. It was a future that neither of them was prepared to face or accept.
In the final story by Williams, "By New Year's Day", Devon Masters takes his wife, Eva, on a romantic get-a-way vacation. After thirty years of marriage, four children and two grandchildren, their marriage was far from perfect and Devon wanted to reconnect with his wife. Eva was finding it difficult to allow her children to grow up and take responsibility for themselves.
Holiday Inn is excellent. Each story was refreshing, funny, romantic, and realistic. Each couple was faced with dilemmas that are constantly being asked. I found myself rooting for each couple as they struggled emotionally to hold on to each other. This is the perfect holiday story for anyone who loves and believes in happily ever after.

4 STARS – HOT: “In these three holiday stories relationships are examined, repaired and enhanced with the magical backdrop of a winter retreat. The situations feel real, the characters are well developed and the stories will draw you in.” – Romantic Times
These were great stories. The second one tended to drag but the first and last ones were better. Farrah and Phyllis always have good stories. Stephanie is a writer I am unfamiliar with.
