This was a fairly good read. As someone who loves self-transformative fiction novels and poetry, I think I went into this book with expectations that were much too high.

The topics of each poem were complex, developed, and overall moving. I found the message and the development of each poem to be pleasant. Her minimal use of rhyme scheme was well done and her diction and voice were distinct.

The reason that this isn't an automatic five stars is because of the blatant lack of editing. Grammar is completely disregarded throughout the book, and not in a way that enhances the poem. It felt like an emotionally mature woman wrote this with the academic intelligence of a third grader. It was very unimpressive.

Overall, the book was moving and complex, but the jarring lack of editing pretty much ruined several of the poem for me.

The title and the cover attracted me to the collection.

I didn’t expect a collection to contain so many pieces, at most 40-60 pieces but this was a bit of an overkill. With so much pushed into one book, it was easy to completely miss the meanings and understandings of the work which made a lot of forgettable and hardly having any depth or emotional moving.

Some of the pieces were excessive in length, and I would lose focus as to what the poet started to say to understand the ending, and the up and down shifting because slightly irritating, enough for me to just move on to the next piece. The structures of the pieces could've also helped with creating a better flow to the pieces and reading them. Incorporating some length cuts would've been beneficial to give the collection a consistent flow.

There were too many pieces that just didn’t have clear meanings, and while I understand that a lot of poetry is left for reader interpretation, some of the pieces just didn’t make sense.

This collection really left me empty, not really living up to any expectations and I double I’ll be looking out for any more from the author in the future.

There were some beautiful poems in there, but out of the 440 pages this book contains, I read 300 with a confused look on my face. The author was talking a lot about divinity, seeking a higher vibration and evolving into a higher version of yourself, which I personally found a bit far fetched. If you’re interested in those kind of themes than this is a book for you, but because that isn’t really my cup of tea, I only liked about 35 of all poems in this book.

I started this book a little over a year ago. It helped me when I was in a bad place but I never got myself to finish until now. I think the author has an incredible perspective and outlook on life. Some poems resonated very deeply with me and some didn’t at all.

Some good musings.

There were some good musings, but a lot of the book just felt very heavily inspired by Rupi Kaur. I do prefer poetry with rhyme schemes and structure.
