Joss Wood loves books and travelling— especially to the wild places of Southern Africa and, well, anywhere.
She’s a wife, a mom to two teenagers, and is bossed around by two cats and a Great Dane X the size of a baby cow. After a career in local economic development, she now writes full time.
I received an ARC from Netgalley and Mills and Boon in return for an honest review.
I've read a few of Joss Wood's books and enjoyed them all, but this one had me fuming and rolling my eyes on several occasions. I don't know whether some of the issues raised in the book are going to be addressed in the brother's book, but I don't like being left with unanswered questions. Who's the secret beneficiary/trustee? Will the awful Radebe family get their comeuppance? Will Ivy's Mum and sister be made to see how awful their behaviour is? Anyway, back to this book.
Firstly the names - Radd and Brinley? My apologies to the author, but seriously they made me think about a comic duo or a supermarket chain. I found it really difficult to stop shaking my head every time I saw these names in print.
Brin was perfectly okay to start with and I liked her energy and commitment and feistiness until she decided to keep secret the fact that her sister and the bride were rivals. There was absolutely no logical reason for her to do so, and in fact, it would have helped Radd to manage the situation if he had known in advance. Whatever reason Brin had, became even less tenable as the story progressed. Every time she had the chance to tell Radd and lied through her teeth, I just rolled my eyes in disbelief. When the plane was delayed and she said she'd only stay if Radd didn't give her name, even he thought it was an odd way of publicising her business. It truly was stupid!
This was clearly being built up for the big reveal which would halt their relationship in its tracks. If it had been signalled any more - there would have been neon lights flashing on my iPad.
Initially, I thought Radd was going to turn out to be a proper Alpha male with decency and honour, but his crawling to the Radebe family just stuck in my throat. I couldn't believe he would be so frightened of the man backing down on the sale of the mine if he didn't crawl to him.
The scene when he didn't defend Mara, but Brin did was bad enough; but then when Brin was attacked by the Bride from hell and he simply allowed her to carry on and then he asked Brin for her phone? Sorry, he just went right to the bottom of the heap in my opinion. What a rat, what a coward - what an excuse for a man. The final showdown with Radebe didn't go far enough and I really was desperate to see the daughter get a suitable showing-up or punishment for her vileness.
Although I disliked the hero and heroine for different reasons, I must compliment the writer in engaging my interest so well that I still read the book from start to finish and actually enjoyed it. It's well written, as I'd expect from this author but I felt there were serious plot-holes in it. three stars

Finally, a HP book set in my homeland! Loved the author's descriptive settings and the details were on point!
The story was interesting enough, but I didn't find myself liking either of the MCs. The heroine chose to be deceitful, and even though it was a lie of omission. Also, this hero was far too beta for my tastes.
Radd Tempest-Vane is on a mission to restore his family's properties and good name. He has gained all but one property and that owner is only willing to sell - on one condition - if Radd hosts the wedding for the man's daughter at his lodge. Radd agrees but finds himself searching for a florist for the wedding. That's when he meets Brinley Riddell. Brin takes the job on a whim, knowing the money she will earn is what she needs to boost her new business and give herself a fresh start. At the end of this gig, she will finally have what she craves - independence. But neither Brin nor Radd expected to feel a hot and heavy instant attraction. How to Undo the Proud Billionaire is the first in Joss Wood's series and my first read from this author. First, you need serious writing chops to be able to pull off the instant attraction/love storyline between strangers that is not only believable but also gives the reader character development. I think Joss Wood does just that in this read. That made this really enjoyable where sex isn't the main storyline. Though the heat factor is there, the lush setting in beautiful South Africa, it was about the character's journey to loving themselves first, accepting themselves that pulled at my heartstrings. So yes, while it meets the expectations of the trope and romance, the author even included some memorable life lessons that readers can take away. "stop thinking so much and be happy. To stop worrying so much about what people think about you and start living life, on your terms." "It doesn't matter how people see you...It's how you see yourself." I can't wait to read more in this series. Thank you, #netgalley and #harlequin for this advance read in exchange for my honest review.
This was such a refreshing book to read. I loved how Radd and Brin were so different from each other as individuals, but were perfectly matched as a couple. They both were able to see what the other was going through and tell each other the advice they needed to hear. The premise was fresh and fun, and the secondary characters were great as well. I’m looking forward to seeing Digby’s story next!
Once again, a scintillating read from Joss Wood! I always love how I will land in and feel Africa through her books, and this one did not disappoint. The plot was a little over the top, and I know it continues somewhat in the next book, but gosh, suspension of disbelief checked and you're right there for the ride. Great escapist fiction, so much packed in just 2-3 hours of reading
I loved this book! I loved the feistiness of Brin- she to fight so hard to become her own person. The sexiness of Radd was very well described and also the struggle of Brin and Radd not to succumb to the chemistry existing between them. It was a extremely enjoyable read!
I really enjoyed Radd and Brin's story. The characters connected from the very beginning. The African backdrop was fantastic!! I am going to read the series because there are too many unanswered questions from this book! What a wonderful read!
This is an atmospheric story, full of vibrant sensory imagery that immerses the reader in the setting. The story follows one man's quest to rebuild his family's legacy and a woman's need to distance herself from her grasping family.
Both characters, are strong and have trust issues, which mean love and romance are not on their life list. A powerful and instantaneous attraction upsets their carefully laid plans and makes for a heated and passionate love affair. Brin has a secret which threatens their new understanding and is the major conflict in this story.
A love that is as decadent, deadly and desirable as the story' setting is the perfect escapist read.
I received a copy of this book from Mills and Boon via NetGalley in return for an honest review.
This is book 1 in South Africa’s Scandalous Billionaires series. The characters are awesome, believable, great word building, funny situations, arrogant clients, everyday run of the mill situations etc., thus making for an awesome read.
Radd and Brinley are both dealing with family issues. Radd is a Billionaire and Brin is a florist and is awesome at her job.
Radd is in much need of a florist and his assistant Abby gives him the name of her friend Brin. Radd tracks Brin down at the beach and offers to pay her $25,000.00 to decorate for a wedding Naledi who’s the daughter of Vincent a client that he’s trying to get back the family’s diamond mine that his parents squandered away and it’s the last item that he needs to gain everything back that once belonged to his family. He informs Brin that if she makes her up mind within the next minute, he would up the money to $30,000.00. Brin agrees because she is in much need of the money. It would help her to open up her dream florist shop and get away from her over bearing mother and sister and gain her independence.
There is so much chemistry between Radd and Brin that you can douse them with ice water and the flames would still be burn hot.
Brin is feisty, challenges Radd, pushes all his buttons and Radd is always calm. Brin seems to be able to stand up to Radd’s guess Naledi but doesn’t stand up to her sister Kerry and mother.
Pick up your copy today to find out if Brin and Radd get their HEA and if Radd gets back his family diamond mind. You will not be disappointed.
This is the story of Radd (Billionaire – naturally) and Brinley (florist looking to get a break). They are thrown together and spend time out in the wilderness, albeit in a very fancy camp.
This is a LOT of book. There is a whole cast of characters, albeit many of them are off stage in the wings (waiting for a series of books perhaps); complicated backgrounds and relationships; some fairly clunky storylines and the glamourous situational content that this particular imprint requires. Almost all of this I could have lived without (except the cast of characters – this did help build a sense of place and community), but it certainly did not distract from the book. The author writes incredibly efficiently and packs it all in without distracting from a likeable hero and heroine who showed sparky characters and worked their way to an authentic HEA.
For personal reasons a LOT of weeks have passed between reading and reviewing this book and some details are blurred but one thing that has really stayed with me is that this book absolutely reeks with a love of Africa and its landscapes. This makes it such a heartfelt read; it conveys a love of place which really drew me in. Add this to the cast of characters and a real sense of location which transported me to the to the sunshine of South Africa and I was fully invested in the place and wider storylines, even though they were only hinted at. This is a companion to another book. I’m already looking forward to that.

This is book one in The South Africa's Scandalous Billionaires Series and it is Radd and Brinley's story and wow what a great way to start a new series. Radd need a florist and quick other wise he would loose the deal that him and his brother was working towards and he had no intention of looking it. Brin had been betrayed and humiliated by her boyfriend, sister and mother who has only ever used her so she walked away and now she needs a miracle to be able to keep them away from her. Radd and Brin have instant chemistry between them but Radd doesn't do commitment after seeing what his parents marriage was like and Brin wanted to own her own florist shop and he independence so they both knew that nothing would work between them as they are total opposites in every way and they want different things. I loved the characters and storyline so much as it pulled you in right from the first page and I couldn't put this book down. Joss Wood is an amazing author and writer and I definitely recommend you read this book and others by her and you will definitely not be disappointed.

In the jewel-like setting of a South African resort, billionaire Radd hires Brinley to fill in as the florist for a society wedding. Brin finds out too late that the bride is her sister's rival. Brin plans to finish the work as soon as possible and stay out of sight of the wedding party.
But Radd has other plans. He never lets women get under his skin, but there's something about Brin he can't resist. He convinces her to spend the week with him in the resort's private quarters, away from the prying eyes of the guests.
Brin knows that a calculating man like Radd won't fall for a straightforward woman like her. But somehow, she manages to see behind his defenses. Is there a chance the two of them could have a future? And what happens when Brin's relationship to the bride is revealed?
I loved the high emotion and sexual tension is this book. It's something of a slow burn, with Radd being careful not to pressure Brin into something she's not ready for. The main characters are both children of narcissistic parents and so can relate to what the other has suffered. The book is a quick read with a satisfying ending.
Radd Tempest-Vane is in a bind – he needs a flower arranger for a critically important wedding at the last minute. Luckily, fledgling arranger Brinley Riddell is both available, and willing to drop everything and fly out to Vane’s luxurious safari lodge.
The descriptions of South Africa take top billing in this atmospheric, nearly decadent romance novel featuring two stubborn people brought together under unlikely circumstances. The luxury and global feel of the story, as well as the hero’s strength and stature, were brilliantly conveyed. The initial attraction between the characters is exciting, and the conflicts that pepper the story are intriguing, and the ending is feel-good at its best. I much enjoyed the contemporary feel of the story, and the hero and heroine’s modern outlooks on love, romance and their individual choices. I would have liked a tinge more emotional drama to the story, but I’ll definitely be looking into more of Woods’ work!
Radd is always in control especially since his parents death as he had his brother try to rebuild their legacy so when he meets Brin who he needs to do the flowers at a wedding that could mean them getting another piece of their legacy back he doesn't expect her to speak her mind or have a good bit of sass to her. Brin knows what the likes of Radd are like, entitled and think everyone must do their bidding well she thought Radd would be like that but they both learn that neither are what they expect and the attraction is undeniable however neither think it will work so try and fight it but its a losing battle as they slowly see how good they are for each other and allow feeling they didn't think they would ever feel grow. A fantastic read which has me waiting for the next book to see what happens to Digby when he meets his match!

Such a sensual temptation! With the first book in her South Africa's Scandalous Billionaires duet with Harlequin Presents, Joss Wood quickly nabs her reader's attention with HOW TO UNDO THE PROUD BILLIONAIRE. The characters are crisp and easy to like and each has a compelling back story that carries the plot throughout. A tad sluggish in a couple of places but quite the enjoyable read. I'm looking forward to Digby's story!
Radd is a confident character who gains sympathy easily for his past, but he is also flawed with his one track mind and put in his place by Brinley's strength to speak up when he doesn't treat her fairly. Easily redeemable.
Brin is a sweetheart. She's been stepped on a lot in life and she's decided she's simply not going to stand for it any longer and that realization brings her such freedom to speak her mind.
I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a lavish background filled with secrets and greed as they make their way towards forever.
How to Undo the Proud Billionaire by Joss Wood ended up being one of my favourite reads this year.
This is Radd and Brinley's story, Radd needs a florist for a huge deal that is very important to him. He ends up hiring Brin. Brin agrees but she will not be walked over by him or anyone else. She is finally finding herself after years of living in her sister's shadow.
Radd and Brin have instant chemistry But both of them are not looking for love and Brin doesn't do one-night stands. But with chemistry so hot can they stay away from each other. And a deal so important to Radd, there is so much on the line.
FANTASTIC book! I could not put it down. The storyline was perfect, the characters were believable ad easy to follow. I believe this was my first book by Joss Wood, but will not be my last.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. Radd and Brin both had less than desirable childhoods. However Radd has become hard while Brin delights in life. Radd hires Brin as a florist for the wedding but there is attraction between them. They act on the attraction when her flight home is delayed. Radd messes up by taking the bride's side in false accusations. Brin leaves. Once Radd talks with his brother, he realizes what he lost and is determined to get it back. He chases after Brin and convinces her he loves her and asks her to marry him. Brin says yes as she loves him. I liked what the brothers tell the cheapskate father of the bride when he tries to back out of their deal.
I loved this book! I loved the feistiness of Brin- she to fight so hard to become her own person. The sexiness of Radd was very well described and also the struggle of Brin and Radd not to succumb to the chemistry existing between them. I was a extremely enjoyable read! I was excited to read Ms. Wood’s Presents book and a little nervous. I love the Harlequin Presents line and Ms. Wood’s books. I was hoping it would be a great marriage and it was! I loved this book and can’t wait for Digby’s story. It was a perfect story for Presents and had Ms. Wood’s humor and depth of characters. Both Radd and Brin went through so much in their lives and overcame situations that could have kept them from finding love. There was heat, passion and fun, but also love, emotion, and suspense. Reading about South Africa and its beauty was a plus. I voluntarily read an advance copy of this book from the author for an honest review. I also receive Harlequin Presents through subscription. All thoughts and opinions are my own. Repost of my original review at Amazon.com.
I like Ms. Wood's books, but this and the next in the series were oooohhhh so boring. 😴 The Hs kept on going about how they had a terrible childhood. Okay by the 2nd time we read it, we got it. It did not have be drummed into our heads. Soon as I had put the book down all I could remember of the plot is nothing. The next book was just as terrible because in both books we were force fed paragraphs and paragraphs about their feelings and their useless parents. One wonders when they had time to become billionaires when all they could think about was their rotten childhood. Is it going to be the same for the third? I truly hope not.

Love how Brin stands up for her principles! Raad is all about the bottom line of improving his family’s image and acquiring the diamond mine. Then he meets Brin, his emergency florist for an event at his resort as part of the wedding of the year! Raad and Brin find themselves in close quarters, allowing their explosive chemistry to combust. Is Raad’s need to seal the deal on the mine or does he need to make Brin mine? You have to read to find out and will love Brin’s principles and Raad’s revelations!
Awwww, this was cute and so much fun 🙂. It is also nail biting and sitting on the edge of your seat angsty 😊. There’s enough tension here to last the whole week long.
Radd is an island all to himself and watching Brin crashing it was worth all of my time 🙂.
This story is so beautifully descriptive, so much so I felt like I could feel the setting 🌞, taste the fresh cuisine 🍤🥗🍷 and feel the rumble from the wildlife 🦁🦏🐅, it is that good.
In this story we escape to South Africa and find passion and romance. Radd is on a mission and in order to accomplish his goal he most host a wedding. He is looking for a florist when he meets Brinley. She takes the job knowing it will help her business and give her a much need fresh start. The attraction between Radd and Brin is off the charts in this story. Their journey is wonderfully developed and pulls at your heart strings. I thoroughly enjoyed this story and love the characters.
3.5 Stars Joss Wood did a great job with the characters, while the story line was good. This is just the type of book that you would expect from a Harlequin author. I look forward to seeing what happens in the next book.

The editor must have been napping on the job. I don’t know if I would have noticed the glaring grammatical errors (like using the wrong pronouns) if the story had been any good. This one read like some dreadfully written soft porn without the soft porn. The only part I enjoyed was when Brin went off at Naledi. Otherwise, who cares.

Radd is hosting the biggest wedding of the year at his lodge and needs a florist when he finds Brin. They have a strong attraction but both are too focused on their business success to get involved in a relationship. Will they walk away from each other or try to make a relationship work?
