M. L. Wright worked in the jewelry auction business for over ten years, including the prestigious auction house Christie’s, where she helped lead the Asia Pacific department to a Market #1 status for years. Expertly trained as a gemmologist, she has a passion for all things jewelry. She currently lives in Hong Kong with her family and spoodle, Mushroom, and continues to work in the jewelry industry. White Glove Life is the highly anticipated sequel to her hit debut novel, No Reserves.
This was a very light, easy read. The whole time I was rooting for Madeleine (not a fan of how she goes by Mad). I have never wondered about the jewelery specialist lifestyle, but I feel like I learned a little. I can't even imagine having that much money to buy the jewels. I can, however, imagine how people within the business could be super greedy and not play by the rules. There were sometimes I was quite nervous for Madeleine, like when she was on the phone with two bidders, but she truly was awesome at her job.
This story is about Madeleine/Mad a jewelry specialist who just got her dream job working at an auction house that handles elite and exquisite stones and jewelry for the rich and famous. The inner working politics of the auction house, her supporting friends and her growing involvement of a romantic interest kept me entertained along with the humor in this enjoyable story that I received by the author through Goodreads and I volunteer to review. This was my first book by this author, and I found it a well written story.
Enjoyable read about a woman who lands her dream job as a jewelry specialist at an auction house. Nice story with everything wrapped up neatly. It was interesting to learn a bit about what's involved. Would recommend.
A really engaging good read. Amazing knowledge about precious jewellery cleverly woven into the gist of the story. Likeable main heroin and well defined supporting characters. Fast paced and unputdownable
The story of the book is definitely unique! I really enjoyed it. I felt that at certain events in the book that the author has stretched it and some events has been rushed through. I felt some disconnection throughout but enjoyed it nevertheless.
