Arlanna never understood the reason she’s been kept away from Prince Paxton most of her life, but when they’re assigned to the same cell, she begins to see why.
Ancient magic that should have faded begins to rekindle at an alarming rate. Soon Arlanna realizes that no prison can contain the power that’s been brewing. She wants out, and she’s not going to stop until every prisoner has been freed…
USA Today bestselling author Mary E. Twomey lives in Michigan with her three adorable children. She enjoys reading, writing, vegetarian cooking, and telling her children fantastic stories about wombats.
While she loves writing fantasy, dystopian, and paranormal tales for her readers, Mary also writes romance under the name Tuesday Embers.
I was so excited for the sequel to Sins of the Father I emailed the author to get an advanced copy of this book, I was not disappointed! It was worth asking for. Prison romances are my new addiction
I love the sweet romance and the building relationship with the Prince was my favourite part. The bullying in prison continues and it goes from bad to worse: trying to contain their powers is becoming a big problem. It’s exactly like an academy but with the stakes a bit higher being in a prison setting. The tension is higher but the writing is a good as the first. I love the relationships with this one and can’t wait for book 3. Anyone who loves the heroine a bit/a lot vulnerable and innocent - this is one for you.

OMG this is a fantabulous second book! Carrying on from book one a whole host of questions are answered and we find out why Arlanna and Paxton have been separated their whole lives! Well written with a unique and exciting storyline and some great characters, I just could not put this down! I cannot wait for book 3!
"She went from one prison to another, yet has the grace to think of my pain." - Prince Paxton
Completely at a loss, Prince Paxton finds himself incarcerated at Prigham’s for his father's sins. Paxton is quickly assigned to the same cell as Arlanna, Gray and Cassia, and again, finds himself at a loss. Whatever was once between him and Arlanna has obviously been forgotten by Arlanna. When Arlanna offers to "free" Paxton, he refuses... And discovers secrets he never imagined possible.
“That, right there. That’s the reason no one in here wants to talk about why they’re here. You’re looking at me and seeing a rapist. No matter if I’m inside of Prigham’s or outside, I’ll always pay for my father’s sins. That’s the beast in all of us.” -Grayson
As Paxton learns of the horrific crimes each innate has been accused of, he understands better the despair and frustration that each inmate shares... But still doesn't understand the intense hatred being directed at Arlanna...
"I have one full breath between me and my panic, which is far more than I had a minute ago. Perhaps that’s all I needed— one full breath." - Arlanna
The longer that Paxton and the others are incarcerated, the more abuse Arlanna undergoes. But things go from bad to worse, as news from the outside reaches their ears, of a new bill being considered, one that will shatter their lives...
"In this moment, I truly hate my father, and will never be able to forgive him for this particular sin. The world is about to drown, and he’s the one shooting holes in the last remnants of our hope." – Paxton
Another “I can’t put it down” read from the incomparable Mary. E. Twoney! Can hardly WAIT to see what happens next!
This author is such an excellent writer that, despite the subject matter that would have turned me away, I knew this would be a really good book. Book 1 put forth the concept of the punishment for parents’ sins/crimes being put on their children rather than the parents serving any prison time. That can fill most people with indignation at the injustice of it all. But now a new Bill is being considered to have the parents’ crimes branded onto the child’s skin and their magic removed forever. This horrible possibility spurs the prisoners to action.
Arlanna and her crew know that they are running out of time and must escape now or have their skin burned with the details of their parents’ crimes. Prince Paxton joins Arlanna, Gray, Charlotte, Cassia, and Paxton as they try to prepare for an escape to save the prisoners. With magical power rekindling, they just might have a chance now!
The story line will keep the reader on edge, the characters are well done with emotions clearly revealed so that the reader can share on that level and stay closely involved. It’s not just a matter of keeping your head down and out of trouble in prison. Arlanna wants out, and she’s not going to stop until every prisoner has been freed, no matter what it takes. Grab your copy and be pulled into this exciting story.

This is a brilliant read. Wonderful well written plot and story line that had me engaged from the start. Love the well fleshed out characters and found them believeable. Great suspense and action with wonderful world building. Can't wait to read what the author brings out next. Recommend reading.

This book was simply amazing! I thought the first one was great and this picks up right where it left off, and now Prince Paxton is part of the 'crew.' Arly, Gray, Charlotte, and Cass are joined by Pax to try and use their extraordinary powers to free the prisoners that are imprisoned to pay for their parents' sins. The 'Father' bill has them serving time, and now the 'Mother' bill goes farther as wanting to tattoo the crime on the child. This pushes the group into taking the actions necessary to keep all this ridiculousness from actually happening. Emotions are exposed, a little bit of romance and lots of action keep the reader on edge in this well-told tale that will appeal to all genres regardless of your favorite. Likable characters standing up for what is right...twists and turns that keep you swiping the pages on your Kindle. The first book was great, this one was BETTER, I can hardly wait to read the third, and just so you know, the first book and this book both end in cliffhangers! I received an ARC of this book and am delighted to share my opinion of this book with you!
Book #1 left me with questions, but this book answered them all. Sins of the Mother picks right up with the story of Arlanna and Paxton. We finally find out why these two have been separated their entire lives. Arlanna fully accepts her role as a leader despite the fact that almost every prisoner hates her. Arly, Cass, Charlotte, Gray, and Paxton take things up a notch as they try to save everyone from the new bill which will force them to have their parents' sins tattooed on their bodies. They all have to learn the ins and outs of their enhanced powers without giving away their secret. And speaking of secrets, Arly's father has a few. Get ready for a few surprises! While this book does end with a cliffhanger, it does provide some closure.

I loved the arc that this story took now that Paxton has joined our lovely group in prison. Poor Arlanna is still being abused horribly, in fact if anything it is getting worse and Gray, Cas and Charlotte cannot be with her all the time and her tormentors pick their times very well. Charlotte knows that Paxton has a role to play in her plan to have the Sins of the Father bill overturned and all the innocents in prison released. Paxton and Arlanna have a past, one that Paxton remembers clearly but for some reason Arlanna doesn't. Gray and Arlanna's relationship is as strong as ever and now that Paxton is added to the mix things start getting interesting. The characters are so charismatic and the story kept me enthralled from start to finish.

As if being imprisoned for her father's crimes was not enough, the new law seeks to have the sins of the parents forever inscribed on their bodies.
This is book two of the series. The book works fairly well as a standalone, but I recommend reading them in order to get the full effect.
This is a paranormal romance with a dystopian prison setting. The story is well written and easy to read, but comes with a rather complex plot that is full of twists, turns and revelations. The characters are also well done with unique personalities and quirks, both good and bad. Like the first book, I was drawn in early and had a hard time putting it down. We do get some answers in this book as well as some new questions. Overall, a very enjoyable read and I am looking forward to the next book.
Highly recommended.

Wow, this book gets really dark! I mean, it was pretty dark already but this one takes it further - the physical situation the characters are in, the psychological toll, the past with all the twisted secrets and motivations that come to light, and the Sins of the Mother bill that openly announces what up until then our characters have only suspected. This is not a temporary situation; their parents have no intention of giving up their get out of jail card. Arlanna and friends are forced to take desperate action as the alternative is untenable. Paxton's gift, or curse and its awakening was interesting too.
Book 2 of 3, so the immediate threat gets resolved, but there are even bigger issues left for book 3. Gray especially just seems so lost at the end. So much heartbreak, pain and betrayal! This is building to a HUGE explosive ending
Title: Sins of the Mother Author: Mary E. Twomey Genre: Fantasy Romance **Received ARC for HONEST REVIEW** Very interesting and great middle to move the story along. We learn why Arlanna and Paxton were truly kept apart. The writing was much more emotional this time around. And the characters are really starting to navigate personal relationships. BUT, the title is Sins of the Mother which refers to a new law/bill passed. My issue is it really isn't brought up until towards the end and then not a lot is done with it as far as the storyline. As important and scary as this law is and it should play a big role in the storyline it should take up more than the last third of the book. It didn't even really take up a third. I am looking forward to book 3. I need to know what happens.
Arlanna is still serving time for her father's crime, but there are stirrings of people wanting to oppose this corrupt system. Can Arlanna and her cellmates get out, before another crazy bill is passed to ruin their innocent lives even more? How might things change if another powerful son joins them in prison? I loved these loyal crew (Arlanna, Grey, Charlotte, Cass and Paxton), who are so different, but striving for the one goal and how exciting, page turning, dangerous, and angst filled this new addition to this series is, and can't wait to know what happens next.

The series continues and a new viewpoint is added to the story which I really enjoyed, this is definitely a unique take on a paranormal prison story, the second book was as fascinating as the first possibly more so. The diverse characters were so engaging, multifaceted and enigmatic in the most captivating way and there was more to learn about them in this book too. I absolutely cannot wait for the next book in this series to find out what happens next, I think I am addicted to books by Mary E. Twomey especially this series.

Whilst book one has left us with questions and book two has given us answers for all of those questions. We find out why they have been separated all of their lives. The guys take things to another level as they try to save everyone from a new bill which would force them all to have a tattoo of their parents’ sins placed on them. They are learning how to use their powers without giving the secret away. And the story has more than just this secret. There are surprises for you and the book ends on a cliffhanger dada dada........

For me this book started slow then it picked up the pace and I am so glad it did as I thought about putting it down. The characters are a little fuzzy in my mind with their descriptions but their actions are very clear cut and the loyalty that is among this is unmatched. They never leave a man down.
So by the time I read to the end the more I wanted of the story.
The author has a mean streak so watch for the end of this book and follow the instructions.

Loved the book!! It had great suspense and I love the writing. I am already anxiously awaiting the next book! Love the characters and I enjoyed reading thru Paxton’s viewpoint as well. I’m not usually a fan of that but it really works and adds to the story here. I also really appreciate the rallying against social injustice. I was connecting so many themes of this book to real life as I was reading it. Just made me enjoy it all that much more.

This book was just what I was hoping it would be. Arly, Gray, Paxton, Cass, and Charlotte do it as a family together. I don’t like to put spoilers in my reviews because ai want people to have fresh eyes and mind going in. Just know it is worth a read. Love Mary E. I definitely loved this book #2 as much as I loved the first one! This was a absolute joy to read. It had love, suspense, and thrillers almost on every page. The characters just keep going on with new facts about what makes them tick. I love it. Everyone shows explosive emotions and actions! This saga will continue to get better and better with each book and I fall more and more in love with it! Now I want to read every book from my new favorite author!!

This book may have been better than the first! I don't even know!! Book 1 was a wild emotional ride and a fantastic way to introduce characters while still leading us toward the plot. Book 2 picks up right where book 1 left off and I love the directions of the story, I love how the characters fit together and how their story lines develop. Arly is an amazing character and I cannot wait to see how book 3 turns out!!

A totally new fantasy world, that I thoroughly enjoyed. I've read some books by this author and she never disappoints. I look forward to reading more from her in the future. I also see myself re reading this in the future. The characters are fantastic and loveable. The story is unique and awesome. Action, drama, and romance all rolled into one. I recommend for mature readers, due to scenes that may be disturbing to some.

Tonight there is gonna be a jail break! That song jept running through my head while I was reading this book. There are fae and shifters and others in a prison which holds the children of lawbreakers. The children are innocent, but being punished for the crimes of their parents. This is the story of how that turns out. The characters were well developed and likable. The story was a good one. I really enjoyed this book and would recommend it.

Arlanna was in prison from her parents crimes and so were others. Paxton was in the prison because of his father and realizes he doesn’t understand what all going on. But when the two were put in the same cell the magic that was supposed to be gone is coming back. The other prisoners hate Arlanna and he takes it but the others that she’s trying to help are getting powers too. Will they escape before their skin is tattooed with their parents crimes?

I loved the continuation of the Sinfully Sacrificed series! So many twists and turns in Sins of the Mother had me furiously flipping through the pages. The main characters from the first book return as the second book picks up right where the first left off. Arlanna, Gray, Charlotte, Cassia, and now Prince Paxton are working furiously to get out as quickly as possible, especially with the new outrageous bill that was just passed. I can't wait to see what happens and continue the series in book 3!
OMG I’m loving this series and now there is a new bill coming out called the Sins of the Mother it’s where all of the so called criminals will have their parents crimes branded onto their skin and their magic will be gone forever. This is the continuation of Arlanna’s and Prince Paxton’s story and with the help of her friends Arlanna plans to escape but first she wants to help every prisoner escape. I loved this story it’s a fantastic series and I highly recommend this book it’s definitely well worth the read.
Book two was enthralling, a page turner and action-packed. The King adds another bill that is worst then the first. Ally, Gray, Charlotte, Cassia and Prince Paxton have to rally the prisoners and plan a break out. This book kept me on the edge of my seat, I loved the ending. Cannot wait for the next book. I would recommend this book to all.

This book picks up right where book 1 ends. The prison is still volatile, Arlanna’s still hated but recognizes her purpose, she and her band have one heck of a fight ahead of them. I got a lot of questions answered but, sure as heck have a few more added. Great adventure, enthralling excitement and a fresh, unique story that keeps me guessing.

An intriguing storyline set in the paranormal world, I was entranced from the beginning. The whole premise of this story was laced with intrigue and it was palpable throughout the story. The characters are ripe with subtle little details that were played upon by the author. The reveals added to the drama and tension and only made the story better. Great storytelling.

All of the characters are back in this second book in the series s Arlanna and her friends try to find a way to escape the prison while her friends keep her safe. Now not only does she have Gray/Rafe the forbidden werewolf as a boyfriend and protector in prison but her long lost Prince Paxton is also. Cass, Charlotte, Nurse Jen, Sloan and even Arlanna’s father help the escape plan. Such a good story

A super exciting second installment in the “Sins” series. The characters are so fully developed that it’s impossible to not want more. Gray becomes even more exceptional (if you can believe it) with each book. Excellent, Super fresh story line. This will be a definite reread series for me.
