Little Hoodlum

Rate this book
From USA Today bestselling author K Webster comes a forbidden best friend's little sister romance called Little Hoodlum!

There are few people in this world I thought I could count on.
My brother. My two best friends. And him.
Jordy Martinez.

Problem is, Jordy thought protecting me was his sole mission in life.
He gave up everything for me and my brother, including his freedom.

Losing him left me hollow and empty.
But after three long years, I’ve learned to live without him.

Until I get mixed up with a guy who has dangerous connections in Hood River and everything begins to crash down around me just in time for my senior year of high school.

Possessive boyfriend with a penchant for violence.
Best friend turned enemy.
Fights with my big brother.

Everything’s a mess and I’m not sure there’s any fixing it.
I might just need that bully ex-convict who’ll do anything—again—to keep me safe.

All I want is peace, happiness, and love.
And I won’t go down without a fight in order to get it.
I’m a Hoodlum after all.

They call me Little Hoodlum, but I’m not so little anymore...

This is a full-length high school friends-to-lovers, forbidden, and new adult romance with high angst, suspense, and gutting emotion. It's book two in the Hood River Hoodlum series that will have interlinking storylines. Little Hoodlum shouldn't be read as a standalone and is the continuation of a four-book planned series that gives each Hoodlum a book. The first book in the series is the only MM story. The others, including this one, are MF.

When K Webster goes in for the kill, she slays you lifeless. Needless to say Webster nailed it with Little Hoodlum!

Let’s get those formalities out the way first.
#JordyBelongsToMari

If you have not been introduced to Hood River, what have you been doing with your life??? You need this series, you need this book!

Jordy, I fell for that big guy in Hood River Rat. You couldn’t not do it. His loyalty is one of the many qualities I admire from him. What he does to protect those he cares for still leaves me all swoony. Mind you, his hand are bloodied. That doesn’t matter for his heart is pure gold.

Roux, poor girl. She was raised by hoodlums, how could you not have a soft spot for her. Naive and young, can’t blame her there. Her heart was always in the right place.

This story kept me on my toes and hit me all in the feels. Not sure if I can take any more of these guttings for the next ride into Hood River. But damnit if I ain’t gonna dive in!

Bravo!

LITTLE HOODLUM: is the second full length forbidden friends to romance book in the series 'Hood River Hoodlums', by K. Webster. This picked up right where the previous book left off. Spoken in 'Dual Perspectives.'

Guys if you've not read 'Hood River Rat' I recommend it!! It's the first book in this series!! And it's best to be read before jumping in on this one. It's amazing!! It's MM and is just so damn good, it's written so well and you come away with a heart so full and bursting.

You've already met these two characters within the first book, so it's only right that we get Jordy Martinez and Roux Hirsch's story. She's Roan's little sister, the one they all protect. They call me litle Hoodlum, but I'm not so little anymore. Jordy would protect her with his life and that's what he literally did. Now three years later he's back, but he never expects her to be so grown up, so out of his league, so beautiful, with a forbidden price tag on her forehead. She's his best friend's little sister.

But living under their roof until he can get back on his feet, a man can only handle temptation to a certain degree. It gets hot, it takes their chemistry to a whole new level, but being only seventeen could land his ass back in jail. It's a waiting game until she's legal.

If Jordy would give me the time of day. I'd let him do whatever he wanted to me. With Jordy, it feels safe. Comfortable. Like home.

She's mixed up with a bad group of guys. They run the town. Everyone is scared of them. They are bad to the bone..

Can Jordy save her this time again? Or is it going to be too late?

WOW! This was addictive, heartfelt, a page turner of epic proportions! This was like a warm blanket on a cold winters night wrapped around me as it gripped me with all the feels!

It’s all consuming, it’s gritty, it’s raw, it’s real, this took me on such a profound ride which I wasn’t expecting. I was wrapped up in a false sense of security when BAM things changed within a blink of an eye, heart racing, hope was my only companion as I raced to the finish line to see how the author was going to wrap it all up! And it was wrapped up in one heart pounding cliffy.

2 ⭐️

➸ New Adult
➸ brother's best friend, forbidden love, secret relationship
➸ Fist person, dual POV
➸ Standalone? No, #2 book in the Hood River Hoodlums Series
➸ Cliffhanger? No (for this couple) and Yes (for the Series)
➸ HEA/HFN? Yes.
➸ Trigger: YES *
➸ Steam? Medium.

⚠️ Mild spoilers ⚠️

First of all, this book need trigger warnings :

➸ attempted sexual assault, sexual assault
➸ stalking
➸ drug use and abuse
➸ abusive/toxic relationship

Plus, L.H. contains cheating
(h cheats on his boyfriend with H)

I usually love KW's books (especially her dark and taboo romance) but this book was a mess and giving it more than 2 ⭐️ would be unfair.

The major reason I disliked this book was the OTT plot:

description

You will find:

◍ a gang
◍ toxic relationships
◍ a baby-gangster and his psycho brother
◍ drugs
◍ guns
◍ beatings
◍ blackmail and threats
◍ gang bangs with unconscious teenagers
◍ sexual harassment
◍ sexual assaults
◍ brainwashed teenagers
◍ orgies
◍ a psychotic stalker
◍ a surprise baby
◍ a child custody battle
◍ pregnancies and miscarriages
◍ FBI
◍ undercover agents
◍ an arsonist
◍ a car accident
◍ a kidnapping
◍ three dead people

( four different Villains, FOUR.)

All of this happened in 250 pages.
Yes, only 250 pages.
This was drama for the sake of drama.
It was over the top, bordering on ridiculous.

description

There were so many running story lines ouside of the main romance plot:
LH was more focused on secondary characters (especially Charlotte aka Hollis's sister) rather than the main couple. I felt like the author's biggest concern was building the story line for the next book.
The result? A shallow unidimensional romance.
You can't fill a book with all these dramas and built a well-developed love story.
I was so excited for this book because I'm a sucker for forbidden love and brother's best friend. These tropes usually implies tons of angst and a delicious build-up. Unfortunately the relationship development here was almost non-existent: the transition from little sister-big brother figure to lovers was soo quick.
Basically when Jordy gets out of prison and the two lovebirds meet for the first time in three years they kiss, almost have sex and fell in love.
In other circumstances I could have overlooked this insta-love dynamic but

a) as I said before Roux has a boyfriend and she basically beg Jordy to have sex with her
b) the last time they saw each others she was 12 and they had a 100% platonic relationship

The first 70-75% contains an annoying, endless push and pull.
Nothing really happens until the last 20% and when R & J finally start their secret relationship, their first months together are OFF-PAGE .
Basically I put up with 200 pages of unnecessary and unrealistic dramas for nothing..

description

KW usually delivers good smut and even this aspect is a total disappointment in this book.

—> This part contains major spoilers.

⚠️

⚠️

⚠️

➸Like in Hood River Rat, all the adults in this book are clueless idiots.

Examples:

✧ Charlotte (Hollis's Sister) has an abusive boyfriend.
She could be the perfect testimonial for a domestic violence campaign and nobody (except Roux) try to help because they don’t won’t to upset her..WTF?! What kind of parents allow their underage daughter to see a boy who drugged and had an orgie with her (while she was barely conscious) and his buddies.
(Her family know because Roux witnessed this scene and told them)
Nobody does anything effective (They only talk) to put an end to this toxic relationship and obviously at the end of the book....surprise, a tragedy happens!

✧ Roux's teacher is a predator.
Roan knows he has an inappropriate behavior toward his underage sister and he doesn’t report him (even though the school's Dean is his husband's Aunt).

➸ Like in many KW's books the heroine is barely 18 and happily pregnant.
Safe sex is boring..I guess.

➸ The heroine went through many traumatic experiences (kidnapped by a gang, raped with a gun, stalked and assaulted by her teacher) but everything is swept under the rug.

In conclusion:
Take my review with a grain of salt.
This book have many enthusiastic reviews... maybe I'm the black sheep here with my opinion. If you are looking for a Series full of dramaS and you don’t mind an underdeveloped romance, you may enjoy this book.
I won’t read the next book because I don’t like Charlotte and I don’t find Cam interesting BUT
If Penny (Charlotte's sister) will get a book I will totally read it because this girl was the only highlight of this story.

"Little Hoodlum" is the second installment in the "Hood River Hoodlums" series and should be read in order. Told in dual POV, 1st person, it’s a friends-to-lovers story, angsty and emotional with dark elements. Although I enjoyed Jordy & Roux’s story, I’m saddened by what the author did in this book, with what happened to Gio & Sidney and especially with what happened at the end to one of the Hoodlums. It wasn’t fair and I liked him. It made me so mad at Char. I don’t know what will be happened next but I hope it will be something good and change my mind about Char because right now I hate her with passion. Overall, I liked Jordy & Roux’s story and hope you enjoy it as well!

3 ‘it had potential’ ✨

The end of May has brought with it strings of disappointments. After my last read, also disappointing, I was really hoping to love this book. That, unfortunately, did not happen.

This book takes place about 3 years after the events of Hood River Rat when Jordy, one of the Hoodlums and Roan’s friend, is released from the jail where he was kept for killing several men. Roux, Roan’s little sister, has always had a crush on Jordy and Jordy is attracted to Roux ever since she visited him once in jail. Their attraction felt superficial to me because we are not even given that transition between ‘I have a crush on you’ and ‘you’re my soulmate.’

I was so excited for their story because it had so much potential given the tropes it would include: age gap, brother’s best friend, and forced proximity, but it didn’t cash in on any of that potential. Little Hoodlum felt like a filler book and a set up for next book more than a book about Jordy’s and Roux’s relationship. Damn shame because it had many things working for it had this book had properly focused on their relationship.

On top of the fast pacing of this book, the characters annoyed me as well. Roux, while she is 17 when book starts, was very immature and childish. Even though she is young and in high school, I thought all the things that she went through in Hood River Rat she would be a little more mature and understanding, but she was constantly whining and had mood swings in this book. And based on the same events in the previous book, I was expecting more depth from Jordy, but even he felt one dimensional.

Overall, the highlight of this book was Hollis and Roan referring to each other as husbands after getting married and being protective of each other. Also, Sebban, who Hollis and Roan adopted. Since this book acted as a set up for Charlotte’s book, I will read her book, but I am not raising my expectations. Onto the next, I guess!

3.25 dark stars

Continuing with this pretty intense dark romance series in terms of content and plot and it's been fun.

Little Hoodlum follows the main characters Jordy (21) and Roux (17).
At the end of the first book, Jordy kills 4 men trying to rape Roux (then 14) and he is sent to jail. He is released 3 years into his sentence for good behavior, just in time to prevent Roux from turning serious with her best friend /boyfriends Kayden who is the little brother of the town's drug lord.
Seeing Roux all grown up does things to Jordy and changes the nature of their relationship and all of it is pretty instant.
They try to fight off their attraction all while fending Kayden's big brother who wants Jordy back in the life and also keeping it down low from Roan (Roux's brother and Jordy's best friend).

Tropes:
- brother's best friend / taboo
- childhood friend/protector
- romantic suspense
- age gap
- surprise baby

A lot of dark themes are well explored in this book;
- abusive relationships leading to drug abuse and how the victim loses her control / self esteem (hoping to see more of this in Charlotte's book)
- what teacher manipulation of a student can look like (and it scared the shit out of me) and how it can devolve into obsession and even assault
- all kinds of gang related violence, including assault, rape, murder

I was pretty impressed with how the plot was crafted and executed. There are a number of pretty intense scenes that kept me glued to the book and I ended up reading it in just one sitting.

The romance was just ok-ish. It was predictable, some scenes felt cliché, some dialogue was cringy. The sexual tension was well built though and they waited until she turned 18 to have sex which took a while.👍But they didn't use protection.👎I'm not a fan of 18 year old getting knocked-up before they start their lives. I feel it gives the wrong message but that's just me.

My high rating is for the plot and the high entertainment factor, not the romance.

---
Trigger warnings: attempted assault, teacher manipulation of student, attempted murder / near death situation, fire, violence, drug abuse, imprisonment, arson
Safety: some explicit scenes (forgot to count) but on the tamer side, no kink (and thank God for that)
---

Hood River Hoodlums series - inter-connected standalones
- Hood River Rat (Book 1): 3.5 stars
- Little Hoodlum (Book 2): 3.25 stars
- Campfire Chaos (Book 3): 3.75 stars
- Hood River Zero (Book 4): 4.5 stars

it's strange how I loved the first book so much, but I couldn't get into this one at all. there were too many things going on throughout the book and not enough (romantic) development for me to rlly root for Jordy (H) and Roux (h). :/ I remember being curious how this was going to play out but ehh, it was quite disappointing. I'm giving this two stars for my babies, Hollis and Roan. <3

not sure if I wanna continue on with the series but, if I do, it might not be for a while!

***5 "Mine to protect and love!!!" stars***

NOW AVAILABLE!

"I don't have a choice."
"You always have a choice."
"Not when it comes to you. My heart decided for me."

OMG!!! This series has become one of my favorite for this year and i totally recommend it to everyone!!!!
I can only say that i devoured both books in one night and i am addicted to Hoodlums and their stories!!!!
But i'm warning you!!!! You have to read the first book "Hood River Rat" before reading this one!!!
You NEED to read Roan and Hollis's story!!!! Yes, it was an M/M, a genre that i was scared of it very much, but it blew my mind and you don't want to miss their story!!!! TRUST ME!!!

"I'm envious of them, even if I don't understand it."
{Jordy for Roan & Hollis}

Little Hoodlum, the second book in the series, made me also wild and excited and now i can not wait for the third book in the series. The Hoodlums have so many shits to deal with on their lives and I'm so invested on them... I just need more and more!!!
Roux and Jordy's story was highly anticipated for me!!!
It was wild and reckless, it was raw and heartbreaking but it was so painfully wonderful!!!

"Don't test me. I'm a monster and you know it. I'll show you how big of an asshole I can be."

Roux was Roan's little sister by five years...
She and her brother hadn't an easy life... Roan and the rest of the Hoodlums were very protective of her... She was their little Hoodlum after all!!!!
Jordy was Roan's best friend... An almost brother since he sacrificed his own freedom for the two siblings!!!! He just had to protect them both, no matter the cost...

"We'll keep Roux safe.
We have to.
I'll move heaven and hell making sure that happens."

Three years later, Roux is seventeen and she is in a better place after all these years!!!!
She is almost happy with being Roan happy with Hollis, for being away from her old life, and with her two best friends, one of them becoming something more...
But there is always a thorn on her side in the form of Jordy, the boy that was always protecting her and who's now refusing to even speak to her...
So, how dare he to sent her a letter full of demands????

"I kind of grew up while you were gone. Not so little anymore."

"He can't destroy my life by leaving me and then destroy it by coming back."

Jordy had wasted three and half years of his life for Roux and Roan... But now, he is back and he is determined to change his life and keep protecting his friends no matter what...
He was always having a soft spot for Roux, his best friend's little sister and the fact that this little girl is not so little anymore it doesn't help his case and his blue balls after so many years of celibacy...
But he is determined to stay away from her, no matter what...

"When the fuck did Little Hoodlum grow up in this gorgeous, intelligent, mouthy woman?"

"I can't have her for myself because she's too young and forbidden territory, but I want her anyway."

Unfortunately, they are living under the same roof and it's very hard to resist on temptation...
But Roux is underage and that's another one reason for his ass to land for once again on a jail cell...
At the same time, Jordy has new troubles in the form of old enemies...
And Roux is in deep for other reasons... Unknowningly, she had landed herself in the middle of a war... She is in love with a forbidden man and she is losing both her best friends...
Her happy life had turned out into hell for once again...
So what will happen after all???

"You worked your whole life to make sure no one hurt me. And yet here you are, hurting me more than anyone has in my entire life."

I loved Roux and Jordy from the moment that i met them...
Roux was always so sweet and kind... The poor girl had been through so many shits already...
I loved that now she was older, she wasn't backing up easily... I loved how she was in Jordy's presence!!! Roux grew up very well and she turned out a very beautiful, kind and badass girl!!!
As for Jordy??? In the beginning, i had a beef for him since he was making Hollis's life a hell in the first book, but damn!!! That boy was so loyal and so giving to his friends!!!! His connection with Roan and Roux was magnificent!!!!
He was always the protector and he could do anything fo the ones that he was loving... Even if he could kill himself in the process!!!

"Roux owns so many bits of my heart that it may as well belong to her. What started as a bond between friends -albeit an age gap- has evolved into something deeper. Something physical. Romantic."

Roux and Jordy were explosive together!!!
From the first moment, i wanted them together, but there were too many obstacles standing on their way....
Things that were hard to swallow and things that were making it impossible for their love to grow in something bigger!!!!
They had to face too many shits to be together one day!!!

"You're not allowed to hate me, Little Hoodlum."
"I can do whatever the hell I want!"
"Anything you want, honey, but not that."

I told you already how much I love this series and these characters...
Yep, each book is focusing on a different couple and with the exception of the first book that was about two males, the other books in the series are f/m...
But in every book are happening so many things that are about almost all the characters of the books that it's impossible to not crave the next story like an addict!!!
And K. Webster has built this story so good that i'm dying to get my hands on the next book!!!
I need Charlotte's story with Cal!!!! The anticipation of what had happened and what the future will bring is killing me, especially after this ending in here!!!!

"If you keep your head down, you can get your shit together."

"Hoodlums are tough.
We don't take shit."

No había necesidad.

No fue el mejor libro pero estuvo entretenido.

Hoodlum for life!!! I wanted Jordy’s story when we met him in Hood River Rat and now I am totally smitten. Love him!!!

Jordy believes in family and loyalty. When Roan and Roux were threatened, he stepped in and saved them. Anything for family, including serving time.

It’s been three long years without him, now he’s back and his best friend’s little sister is all grown up. His Little Hoodlum is now a beautiful young woman. He’s always loved her, but now that love is more.

Roux crushed on Jordy for years. She spent the last few years missing him, but now he’s home. She knows what she wants and she’ll willing to wait to get it

A relationship between them is forbidden. She’s not only his best friend’s little sister, she’s not old enough to vote...yet. However, their connection continues to grow. The sexual tension is tangible. Their love may be taboo, but it’s strong. Jordy loves her too much to risk losing her. This dirty talking, alpha protector will go the distance to get his girl.

So many obstacles. Jordy is tangled up in illegal activity with a gangster and he’s not a willing participant. He’s trying to protect his family and that includes Roux. Roux is struggling with an obsessed ex, a best friend that’s gone off the rails and unwelcome advances. Sacrifices have to be made. Everyone needs to play their role. They all deserve a happily ever after, but it won’t come easy.

The connection they share is forever. Their love has no boundaries. I read this friend to lovers, taboo romance in one sitting because I could not get enough of Jordy and all of the side stories kept me completely immersed in hoodlum life. Jordy was big tough guy who wore his heart on his sleeve for the people he loves and it’s easy to get swept up in him. We got to catch up with Hollis and Roan as they will appear throughout, plus our other favorite hoodlums and side characters. I am already ready for more!!!

This one picks right up from book 1, so don't jump into this story if you haven't read book 1. It is NOT a standalone.
In the prior book, Jordy made a huge sacrifice to keep Roux and Roan, ending up in jail. But when he sees they are still endanger, Jordy works to regain his freedom. It's been 3 years and his best friend's little sister Roux isn't so little anymore. Jordy had been working so hard to keep her at arms length but as she is almost 18 years old, he is fighting a losing battle. The only problem is that Jordy and his brother work for a booster and drug dealer, a position Jordy took in order to keep Roan and Roux off their radar. But that also makes Roux a target whenever people want to get at Jordy.
How will Roan react when he finds our that his best friend is sneaking around with his little sister?

I like Forbidden Romances and I love this series. This story wasn't as smooth as book 1 instead, there is a lot of things that are unanswered, especially with Charlotte and her dad.

What made this story and series amazing is that there Hoodlums are so loyal to each other and love each other. They are just caught up in the environment they live in. At least Hollis and Roan are leading the way in the happily ever after department

This book sucks. It just frustrated the shit out of me. UGH. To think that the first book was so heartwarming and emotional. What a shame because from the beginning until the end I had to put up with Roux and her stupidity.

To summarize this novel you can expect:

Poor story line.
Bratty and selfish characters.
Conflicts after conflicts thrown into the story without being properly resolved and clarified.
Lastly, the one thing that made this book downgrade from 2 stars to 1 star??

I am not a fan of Roux but Jordy made it kind of tolerable. Charlotte though? I despised her. So I won't be reading the next book since it's about her. As much as I am intrigued with Cal, I won't do it. I won't throw myself into a book that can give me back my extremely unwanted reading slump.

So this was a weird one. Up until 80% I really liked the story, and then it all went downhill. Jordy and Roux have always loved each other as family. When he went to prison she was 14 and he was 17, with the age difference they had never looked at each other romantically. Jordy killed someone (and went to prison) to protect her, and during that time he refuses to see her or her brother. When he gets out instantly that connection is romantic, but because she was seventeen and he was on parole they don’t technically get together. They try to say away from each other at first, but with him living with her family it doesn’t work. They basically begin planning to be together when she turns 18 and sneaking off to make out (keeping it PG-13. He is really sweet to her and hasn’t been with anyone else since getting out of prison. She is still a virgin.
Then about at about 80% everything goes downhill. She says she has to start dating her ex again and he says ok. It’s obvious what is happening because the ex is in a gang, his brother is the leader. Throughout the book, there are little signs that Jordy is working with the police. When she suddenly “has” to go back with the ex, it’s obvious that she is working with them as well. If it has been for a day or two it might be in the realm of possibility, but no MONTHS go by. So we as the reader are supposed to believe that Jordy (the hero) her brother Roan (the hero from the last book) the FBI and local police department are all on board to whore out a SEVENTEEN year old for a case. Sure, ok. So even if I were to ignore the legalities and believe it would work I’d still have to decide the hate the book, because suddenly these two alpha guys (her brother and boyfriend) are ok with whoring her out. Not my jam. She didn’t have sex with him, but was forced to date him for months. While constantly making out with him and allowing him to grope her and pushed for sex. He was a known gang member who sold drugs. He sold a roofie to her best friends boyfriend right in front of her. He used it in the best friend who ended up unconscious, with 3 guys trying to screw her. This was not a decent guy. Of course she ends up in a position of being raped with a gun, and almost being raped by several men when the boyfriends brother got ahold of her. It turned into a giant mess. And neither the hero or her brother ever made a comment about how they shouldn’t have put her in that position. Instead everything works out and they end up mentioning how her information was so helpful. Yea only now two hero’s I liked seem completely worthless. I will probably read the next one because I liked the first one and this one until it went crazy. But hopefully it doesn’t go off if the deep end. I’m already having an issue. The heroines boyfriend has been drugging and abusing her for a long time. The family knows about the attempted gangbang and they still haven’t got her away from him 9 months later. It’s ridiculous actually. The father is super rich and let me tell you, rich people don’t handle problems this way. She would have been packed up and sent to boarding school that day before being allowed to keep seeing that guys. The father says he’s trying to fix it but it makes no sense. It’s a pretty easy fix. The guy is the son of a cop, not the head of the mafia. Boarding school would fix it. Or the dad could have stayed on the other side of the country and insisted she mo e there. Anything but “try” to keep them apart for almost a year. Id fix that problem pretty quick.
And lastly, Jordy went from being sweet to a douche pretty quickly. Dirty talk is super sexy but wether it works is depending on the context of the relationship. They were in love and together well before they finally have sex (they wait until her 18th birthday) so his behavior makes no sense. He corrects her when she says they are going to make love and says he’s going to “f$&k her.” She is a virgin for Pete’s sake and he’s telling her he can’t be gentle and is going to fu$& her so hard etc. more than once. It just makes no sense for the story. He’s been sweet with her for the whole book, so why would he switch when he is having sex for the first time with a virgin? And of course she’s perfect at sex and no fear etc, even as an 18 year old virgin. Right. The author was trying to hard to make him seem sexy etc. None of his behavior made any sense and honestly I just cringed. It was probably the worse written sex scene that I’ve even read. Basically I’m just going that the next one is better. Fingers crossed.

NOTE: I don’t think this series is a standalone series. Yes, each book focuses on the journey of two distinct people, but the hoodlums are a unit. They are a brotherhood that stand together. Always. I think you will do yourself a disservice if you do not read all the books and, in the order they are published. Just my two cents. Do with them what you will …

You guys … these kids are addictive! Their friendship/bond is all consuming, not just to them, but to me. I am in deep and I do not want anyone to rescue me! Just wow!

If you read Hood River Rat, then you should be on pins and needles for this book. Roux aka Little Hoodlum was the one they protected and took care of. Why? Read the book to find out LOL

Jordy and Roux surprised me a bit. Their story is very addictive and a bit gritty, but I expected Roux to be a bit different. She plays her 17 yo self very well, but she shouldn’t. Her life thus far, or at least what I have read, should have made her stronger than what she seemed in this book. There were times when I felt like she was a completely different Roux than the one I read in the past. It was just odd and put me a bit off balance at times because I could quite pinpoint the why of it all.

Apart from that small detail, I found this to be an exceptional page turner of a story. The pace of the story is fast, but Jordy and Roux were not. They were a slow burn journey with good reason of course. I found that fit them very well. Without giving you any plot points, I can tell you that the story itself is addictive and all consuming. You won’t be able to stop once you start reading LOL but that’s how it is with almost every book I’ve ever read by this author.

Waiting is torture. Hiding is killing us. All of it is necessary.

description

PLEASE NOTE: Although this is considered an interconnected stand-alone, it is better experienced after reading Hood River Rat since some key events throughout that story set this one in motion.

My first “true” introduction to K Webster was also coincidentally my first intro to a true MM romance in Hood River Rat, the first installment of this series. I fell in love with her writing style and the characters, most of all Jordy. I knew his story would include Roux before it was even appropriate to have those thoughts simply bc is the love he had for her was powerful and so incredibly selfless. I NEEDED their story, one that showcased just how special these two were going to be together but I knew it wouldn’t be without some tough moments. I walked away from this book an even bigger fan of Webster’s writing & storytelling while also admiring the heck out of her for her boldness to not only tackle very sensitive subjects but handle them with such authenticity and care. She has created a very special series within the world of Hood River and I’m here for every moment of it.

Overall Plot: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Steaminess: 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Page Turner: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 1/2
Emotional Connection: ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Book Facts:
Told in: Dual POV, all present day but with future time jumps to push plot along.
About: The second installment of the Hood River Hoodlums series is an interconnected stand-alone that tells the story of Jordy Martinez & Roux Hirsch. It is slow burning, taboo/forbidden, friends to lovers story that features a romance between a girl and her older brother’s best friend who was sent to prison for killing four men to protect/save her when she was younger. Although the story starts with her at 17 and him at 21, no sex occurs prior to her turning 18.
Potential Triggers: Gang violence, drug use, date rape (not our heroine), domestic abuse (not our heroine), stalking/extreme obsession, attempted rape, sexual assault.
Ends in: HFN ending for couple but cliffy to continue overall story and introduce next couple.

The Main Players:
Jordy Martinez: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ One of the Hood River Hoodlums and Roan Hirsch’s very best friend, who was sentenced to prison & served time for killing four men to protect Roux (& Roan). He has always been both Roux & Roman’s protector and has been forced to do illegal jobs for his older brother and his older brothers business partner. He is as devastatingly handsome as he is physically intimidating, and has always loved Roux so selflessly and completely (although it was a different kind of love)....he will do ANYTHING to keep her safe even if it means sacrificing himself. Jordy is not only my fav guy in this series (maybe entire character) but also one of my favs ever. The way he is with not only Roux but with Roan is so incredibly touching, there was never a moment in this book I didn’t love him.

Roux Hirsch: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Known as Little Hoodlum, she is the youngest member of their group and is Roan Hirsch’s baby sister. She is a senior in HS and has an on again/off again relationship with the most powerful local gangbanger’s baby brother Kayden. She is in love with Jordy and calls on him anytime she needs protection or help. She refuses to give up on being with Jordy, even if that means waiting until she turns 18. I really did love Roux and how hard she loves those around her, sometimes making the tough choices that will help them in the long run. I loved her smart mouth and her ability to not cower, BUT there were moments where I felt she was way too oblivious to in your face “signs/warnings” when her character wasn’t written to be that way.

What I liked:
Jordy: I don’t need to go into great detail on this one, but I will say this guy is special.
description
I’m sure some didn’t like him as much in some portions of HRR, but from the very start I adored him. I’ve never seen a character so selflessly protective of those he loves, I know he will likely stay my fav of this series and at the top portion of my all time list for a long time.

Her Storytelling/Writing: I loved that despite this being Jordy and Roux’s story, the other characters play very active roles as their own storylines continue or develop. They aren’t included to enhance the current couples story but to “live” their own lives within a different set of character narratives. From the bomb drop on Roan (& Hollis).....
description
......to Charlotte and where her story takes her (I CANNOT wait for her book next).....
description
......it’s different than most of the series I read and I LOVE it. Even the ending, giving us something happy for the current couple while tying in the very event that sets off the next installment......I am in awe of her.

The “Tough” Subjects: I love that she takes on really hard yet real life situations and issues. Not only does she take them on and not glamorize them or fluff them up, she keeps them so authentic to real life and doesn’t shy away from the tough details. She takes such care in every aspect of the specific issues, refusing to rush them or use them solely for entertainment but instead give an uncensored look into how those things affect everyone and everything around.

Handling of their age difference: How important it is that she tackles the subject of relationships that are viewed as illegal.....it’s something a lot of readers see as inappropriate or wrong yet it’s reality. It’s clear these two love each other deeply and it shows the other side of how this law affects those people. I loved that she showed that these things aren’t always so black and white and that while laws (like these) are crucial, they sometimes negatively affect those that it shouldn’t.

Jordy & Roan friendship: I was worried that this incredible friendship would be put on the back burner in favor of the relationship between Jordy & Roux but that wasn’t the case at all.
“We do this together, brother.” “We can’t.” “We. Can. Just… Just give me time to work some things out.” He releases me and frowns at me. “I want updates on everything he makes you do. We’re brothers. Do not cut me off again to try and protect me. I can’t deal with this shit again. You fucking include me and we figure it out together.”
description
It’s clear these two have a friendship that is rare in both fiction and real life.

The “Twist”: There are a few little twists within the story, but the biggest twist moment was handled amazingly. It’s likely you will be able to kinda see the story is headed in this direction BUT it’s the way it’s handled and how it all goes back to how Jordy is so selflessly protective over Roux. I actually teared up at a few scenes within that bigger plot piece.

What I didn’t:
Turning one of my favs into a bad guy: I can’t say who it is because it will ruin the book and a huge bomb drop BUT I hated that one of my most beloved secondary characters from HRR was turned into a villain in this installment.....
description
......And they didn’t even get a chance at redemption.

The Verdict:
description
This book may be slow burning and lighter on the steaminess (at least until later), but it no doubt showcases just how incredible Webster is at creating a story that has both the emotional depth and page turning excitement to make it yet another unputdownable installment in this series. It not only solidified Webster as a one-click author for me BUT it also put Hood River Hoodlums at the top of new favorite series of 2020. Do I recommend it? Jordy and Roux have a love and a story that should be read by everyone, it would be a shame if anyone skipped out on it. Just a warning though, it’s highly likely you will end up just as addicted & eager to get your hands on the next one.

“You’re here with me now,” he murmurs. “You’re mine. Don’t forget that, Roux. When all feels fucking overwhelming, remember us.”

I haven't found a book by K Webster, regardless of the genre, that I haven't thoroughly loved. Little Hoodlum lives up to my high expectations and continues the trend of fantastic books from K Webster. It's been a while since a book kept me up reading all night, but this one did!

Book two in the Hood River Hoodlums series. In Little Hoodlum we get Jordy and Roux's story. It has all the feels and is full of tension and forbidden love. Jordy has always protected Roux but while he has been away she has grown up. She is no longer the little girl who he would protect with his life but rather a striking young woman with curves which drive Jordy crazy.

And the cliff hanger at the end, totally gut-wrenching. I can't wait to continue the journey of the Hood River Hoodlums in Campfire Chaos. Campfire Chaos (Hood River Hoodlums, #3) by K. Webster

EXPERT
"We both giggle as Charlotte runs off after her sister. I close my eyes, singing along to "Trouble" by Halsey. A shadow blocks the sound over me.
"Did you survive?" I ask Charlotte.
"Barely," a gruff, masculine voice mutters.
My entire body comes alive with a mixture of heat and emotion. A voice I've heard only once since he was locked away.
"Jordy? I croak out.
I peek out from under my arm to see his tall, muscular form standing over me. he's her. Oh my God. With a squeal, I scramble to my feet, throwing myself at him. His strong arms haul me to him, hugging me tight.
"Missed you, Little Hoodlum."

I picked up Hood River Rat by K webster a few weeks ago knowing only that it was m/m and not too dark.
As you know I prefer my books dark and dreadful but, hey, this is K webster we’re talking about so of course, I read it, lol.
And I’m so glad I did.

I often find that books with teenagers and high school are just way too gentle for me.
I wanna feel the pain, damn it!

But here’s the thing.
This covered so many deep topics.
Forbidden relationships - due to her being underage.
Gangster lifestyle - which is just plain scary.
Abusive boyfriend - Emotional and physical.
Sexual assault and being scared to say no.
Keeping soul-deep secrets that cause you harm - so that you can save the people you love from danger.
A teachers obsessing over school girls.

So, no. This wasn’t as light and fluffy as you might think.
It was full of heartache and angst and because it’s K Webster, it also had some scorching hot scenes, lol.

ROUX

I just loved Roux from book one. She was just a wee sprout at the time, barley 14, and she was just the sweetest genuine girl with too many burdens placed on her wee shoulders.
Fast forward a few years and she’s still as sweet and innocent but now she has curves and a little attitude. And I love it!

She’s so angry that Jordy went to prison and cut off all contact with her and Roan.
She loved him and missed him terribly. Not to mention that it was her that he went to prison for as he was protecting her from being raped, killing the four men trying to abuse her.

One day though she manages to sneak in a wee visit and suddenly shit gets real.
Oh yeah, she still loves him but she isn’y looking at him as a big brother figure any more.

Nope, she’s all ‘lady boner’ about him now.

She’s still pissed at him though, especially as he’s demanding she break up with her boyfriend. I mean, how dare he ignore her for years then demand she break up with Kayden?

There is so much she doesn’t know though and danger lurks where she least expects it.
She’s a trusting wee soul and wants to see the best in people.
Unfortunately, that can attract a special kind of danger of its own.

JORDY

I have wanted this broody and dark lad since I first met him. He doesn’t love or trust easily but when he does it’s intense and with his whole heart.

He’s always loved Roux like a wee sister but when he sees her for the first time in years...well let’s just say it’s not only his heart that joins the party.

She’s beautiful and he wants her.
But Roan would kill him.
And she’s only 17.
And that’s a one-way ticket back to prison for him so he tries to do the right thing.
Keep away from her and not get too close.

Yeah, that’s not happenin’.

But he also needs to keep her safe from her boyfriend. Kayden is getting into all kinds of trouble.
Turns out he’s turning into quite the gangster. Carrying guns, dealing drugs and all sorts of bad shit.
Poor Jordy’s past comes knocking and he just can’t see a way out of this life.
The only thing that matters to him now though is keeping Roux and his boys safe. Again.
But my heart ached for everything he has to go through to keep his family safe.

SEX SCENES
The mewls and groans escaping her are animalistic in nature. I fucking love them. “My dick’s going to be stretching this needy hole out soon, Roux,” I murmur against her pussy. She gasps when I push my tongue inside her. Her cunt clenches around my tongue as though she’s trying to suck the damn thing into her body. The sloppy sounds I’m making as I tongue-fuck her pussy have my dick practically dripping with the need to come. I rub at her clit with my thumb as I devour her delicious body from the inside out until she screams out my name. Her arousal grows thicker, soaking my tongue with her unique taste. I fuck her hole with my tongue until I’m sure I’ve licked it all away and then I suck on her pussy lips, eager to grab up anything I missed. “Jordy,” she whines. “Holy fuck.” I sit up on my knees and swipe away the wetness on my face with my hand before grabbing the back of my T-shirt behind my neck. Her coppery eyes flash as she drinks in my torso. Slowly, I pull off my shirt and toss it away. I flex my pecs and then abs, enjoying the fuck out of the way she bites her bottom lip at seeing me. “Beg for my dick, Roux.” “Give it to me.” “That’s awfully demanding,” I say with a smirk as I shove my sweats down and grab my cock. “You’re gonna have to be sweeter than that.” “Please,” she begs, batting her lashes at me. I kick out of my sweats and prowl over her trembling body. “I’ve waited for this moment since the day I laid eyes on you that day in prison looking like a hot-ass fucking woman. This won’t be gentle, babe. This is going to be a claiming fuck.” Her legs wrap around my waist and her fingers thread into my hair. “Claim me.”

DARK SCENES
Renaldo yanks her back against his chest, forcing her legs apart and pinning them with his own. Tears roll down her cheeks and her chest shudders with each breath she takes. He has a gun pressed to her temple. “You did all this shit for a piece of teenage pussy,” Renaldo snarls in disgust. “You’re so fucking stupid.” With his free hand, he yanks her dress up. Her panties have been removed. I want to crush his skull in for exposing her like this. Slowly, he slides the barrel of the gun down to her pussy, rubbing it between the lips there. She sobs uncontrollably. “Must be really fucking magical to have both you and my brother so fucking twisted up over it. Maybe I ought to fuck it to see what the fuss is all about. Let your brother fuck it too. If it’s so damn magical, everyone in this room should have a turn.” She tries to force her legs closed, but his words stop her. “Keep ’em open, baby, or I’ll blow your boyfriend’s fucking head off.” My sweet girl spreads her legs again, her whole body shaking wildly. He turns the gun, easing the barrel inside of her. I’m sickened to the point I grow dizzy. I can’t fucking watch him do this to her. “Look what a good girl she is,” Renaldo praises. “Taking this gun like it’s a dick.”

Final Thoughts on LITTLE HOODLUM by K Webster

This one covered so many serious and dark issues that pull at the heartstrings and I was quite uncomfortable at some points...which to me means a greatly written story!

Honestly, at first I was like this book is going to be boring , because Roux and Jordy already liked each other whats going to be there ? and I am not a very big fan of friends to lovers trope. But this book turned out to be very good actually .There was good drama.I liked this book.

Another book that had me neglecting my chores and kept me up late reading! I love all of these characters; there’s something about them that has a hold on me!!! I have nothing but positive things to say about the story, my only complaint (as always) is the editing... In book #1 Roan was always cracking his neck, yet all the guys are doing it in this one, even characters Roan never met. It was so repetitive that I went back and counted: male characters cracked their necks 13 times!!! In addition, she was inconsistent or didn’t follow punctuation rules, wrote TICKS when it should have been TICS, etc. However, it’s such an amazing, +5-star story that I was easily able to enjoy the book despite those issues!!!

This one was just an okay read for me. I loved Roux but I was only so-so on Jordy. And I kind of felt like the plot in this was all over the place. Especially with Wes popping in?? 🙃

But I loved getting glimpses of Roan and Hollis so

3.5✨

I couldn't wait to read this book,
I freaking loved Jordy in the first book, i was so damn sad when he had to go to prison....😥

This book it's 3 years after the first book in this series finished,
we get to see Hollis and Roan again ♥♥♥

I love the way Jordy loves her, how protective he is, dang he basically gave years of his life saving her from that ugly night 3 years prior. ( you can see more of that reading the first book)

It's darker than the first one, with a lot of ugly teenagers drama , our Little Hoodlum is 17 years old, she is still in school, she started dating a guy, and the problem is that guy is bad news , he basically sells drugs and do other sh*t, Jordy from prison finds out about it and lets her and Roan know, but our lil girl is mad about it, because she is sad Jordy refused visitors for 3 years, and then he comes back to her with a letter telling her to leave her bf 😂😂

I love the past flashbacks of how he take care of her prior prison .
( for who doesn't know she is Roan's sister,he and his best friends protected her like their own sister, mostly Jordy)

She had a crush on him and that's why she didn't feel ready to go all the way with her bf.
Jordy never thought about her like that, even because he is 21 and she was 13 when he get to prison, but when he saw her again after 3 years, he didn't find a lil girl anymore ♥

Then after a few months our Jordy is out of prison, and well, he is fighting with his desires, she is still a minor , but the chemistry? and the physical attraction ? it's 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 oh and she still had the same secret boyfriend, which she kept seeing behind her brothers back ,but now with Jordy out? well that can't happen anymore😆😂😂

From there on we will see their story start, and the forbidden desire, can they wait 7 months to be together :D ? or not ? will she get away from the bf without put Jordy in danger? he can't do any wrong moves, he can go back to prison really fast if he causes trouble, but it's hard to stay out of trouble, he wants to protect everyone and also Rouxy , and he can't go away from a wrong cycle he was in in the past...also Rouxy have a lot of stuffs going on too at school.

Love to see a dark note here, even if they are so young, we have some abuse too, but it's safe for me, i have a high tolerance, luckily nothing to bad happened to Roux or Jordy. Roux is really naive in a lot of situations but..she is also 17 i wanted to punch the kindle at a few scenes...dang i hated that she was touched by others forcefully (kissing mostly luckily) 😥 they end up truly together in the open at 90% and that suc*s , a lot of sh*t happened before she was 18,and also she had to keep the bf for other reasons and i was so mad about it 😫

This book has in it everything , a lot of different situations good and bad a few tragic too, but their love it's EVERYTHING, i want a Jordy too ♥♥ i just wished to have more of them together happily without other stuffs going on, this book it's more bout drama and a more darker than the first one unfortunately , but at the same time , i was on edge .

That ending, i needed absolutely Ronan reaction to the stuffs, but i understand why we didn't see that, i hope in the next book we will have his reaction , because of that end we didn't get an epilogue in the future, i know it's because of the next book , but still , an epilogue years later would be amazing....

Anyway i guess next book it's Charlotte's and honestly i'm not interested in it as much,
i didn't like her at all in this book.

But who knows, maybe the author will make me like her.

I still need more of this couple tho, period ♥ a lot of their happy moments are off page which suc*ed.

Life hasn’t been kind to Roux, her childhood was stolen by the woman who gave her life who also took her happiness away rather than providing for her. Thanks to her brother and Jordi she could find hope and some happiness. Roux had to grow up before her due time but for everyone she’s always little hoodlum.

Jordi would do anything to protect those he loves and when it comes to put his life and freedom on the line to protect Roux and Roan he doesn’t esitate. Little does he know while he’s wrongly locked up that the person he has always seen as a little sister is all grown up... so much so that when he sees her again after three years he barely recognise her.

So here we are Roux and Jordi two souls reunited but separated by laws and a life that doesn’t give them a break, Ms Webster tells this story with her usual ability, it’s so easy to find a connection to this world, to love these two and also see how happy Hollis and Roan are while their love thrives.

Book two brings us back to River Hood where life it’s still hard and so much still needs to be dealt with. I’m so invested in this world I look forward to plunge into the next book.

Oh God. I feel like I just got run over by the biggest-ass tank! I can’t feel literally anything. My body is filled with shivers in known and unknown places. I still can’t believe what I just read. But then again, I shouldn’t have been so surprised by my reaction, since this happens every single time I read K Webster. I am convinced that she possesses the ultimate magic pen, and combined with her awesome twisted mind, she has become a master on turning us into muss with every single book and story she creates.

When I first stumbled upon the sign up of Little Hoodlum and read the blurb, combined with the fact that it was a K. Webster book, to say that I wanted to get my hands on it with a vengeance it would be a huge understatement. All my buttons inside were clicked, and I made it my mission to get to know Roux & Jordy. This meant that, without a second thought, I went straight and bought the first book in this unbelievable series, Hood River Rat (Roan & Hollis’ story).

Now, after reading both of the books back to back in less than 5 days, how I am still alive and my heart remains in its place and it stills beats, I have no idea. Because the electric shocks that both the couples were constantly sending to my heart, wouldn’t have let me make it out alive. Page after page, my eyes were becoming more and more like saucers, and my heart beats had completely lost every sense of rhythm and they were going all over the place. As for my mind, it kept being blown away with every new sentence that I was reading.

When I finished Hood River Rat, I kind of expected the setting in which the Little Hoodlum would take place. Ha, the joke was apparently on me! What followed in the book after the halfway mark, I was totally unprepared for it. Speechless is a very small word to describe my state of mind and existence during the reading of Roux & Jordy’s story. Maybe the best word to describe what happened to me is this, BING-BANG!!

I have fallen so damn high and hard in love with every single thing of this story, the series, the characters, the scenes, that I have no idea how can I express all that in words – and without spoilers :p.

SPOILERS!!!!!!!

I dont know what it is with this series but I can’t stop reading it even though the drama level here is beyond crazy. No one is this unlucky, crazy or just moronic in real life and yet because I am obsessed with Roan and Hollis and this is an ongoing interconnected series, I found myself staying up all night to read this! I probably would have rated this 4 stars for entertainment value had it not devolved into my most hated plot line: surprise pregnancy!

This is Jordy and Roux’s story and it’s a best friend’s younger sister (17 to his 22? I think) forbidden romance. Jordy has looked out for Roux and Roan their entire lives. Jordy even served prison time protecting the two of them and when he gets out after 3.5 years, he sees Roux has grown up and his protective feelings toward her change into something taboo considering she’s underage. Roux has been in love with Jordy for years but had to move on when he was in prison and the boy she started dating is all sorts of trouble and brings more drama to the hoodlums. These two have a lot of external factors to get through before they find their HEA and the drama is crazy.

Just like the first book, I loved Roan and Hollis and any scene featuring either of them made me enjoy this book so much more. Charlotte and Roux have a falling out in this book and the next book focuses on Char and how hitting rock bottom changes her life. There were some things just ridiculous in this book like Sidney reappearing and her child being Roan’s only for Sidney and her husband to die a few scenes later. WTF Do Roan and Hollis really need a 3 year old baby with everything else going on in their lives? Did Roux really need to get pregnant? She’s fucking 18 and has had the hardest life so far. Had those things not happened, I would have rated this higher but it’s like drama just for the sake of it and it’s ridiculous. And still I can’t put this series down…Having an addictive personality is the worst.…Having this series gifted to me is even worse because they are just waiting in the wings for me. 🤦🏻‍♀️

Jordy’s story is here. If you’ve read Hood River Rat then you’ve met both Jordy Martinez and Roan Hirsch’s little sister, Roux. These three were so close until Jordy changed all their lives with one action. Jordy always felt protective of his best friend’s little sister but when he comes home after getting into some trouble 3 years prior, he never thought his little hoodlum would have grown up so much. She is involved with some bad people. Can he protect her while keeping his hands to himself? He doesn’t think he is any good for her either, however sometimes a certain type of bad is exactly what we need in life. Omg! Omg! Omg! If you enjoyed book one then you are in for a treat with this one. You must read book one first as this is more of a continuation of the characters from Hood River Rat, just a different couple takes center stage. Get ready for this slower burn, off limits, dark, criminal, best friend’s little sister romantic suspense with plenty of action and mischief. I loved the storyline for Jordy, Roux and all the others from Hood River Rat. I cannot wait for the next story in this series. Told in dual POV
